Pros:Two Very neat Thermal spray facilities with potential for great opportunities.Very experienced R&D Engineering group.Several highly experienced thermal spray technicians/experts.Really good people in the company.Cons:Poorly ran high technology company.People driven, not process driven.Very inexperienced management group. Every person cannot be a manager or Supervisor.Very low pay for for Thermal spray technicians and Machinists.Little to no training that attributes to loss of revenue.Aging equipment up to 30 plus years old creates a lot of down time and huge loss of revenue.No experience in the maintenance group that attributes to long down times and makes customers very angry. Sorry customer service for the aches and pains.4 Ops managers in 4 years causing confusion in the company. Previous Ops manager was a bipolar bully, created hostile situations and upper management did nothing to correct this, and forced the experienced and motivated employees out. Also, did not practice what was taught. (Listen to your people).Very week Mechanical engineering group. The manager is very disconnected from technology improvements and does not monitor what is being done by his group.Very strong R&D engineering group with tons of experience,, but has been used as a repair group instead of having emphasis on what is important. New business.If you are a true professional Thermal spray technician or Machinist/Operator, No Dice!If you are a professional Thermal spray or Machining Engineer, and find a job opportunity at TST, and they pay you well, Roll Those Dice!
Be prepare to work 6 days 10 hours days no chance for raise what u make is what u make..so and oh yeah. If u got a felony they dont care..
Garbage employer. Poor to little training. You will be punished for their poor to little training. Favored tenured employees over new hires. The president Craig Smith is short-sighted and doesnt understand his own business. Hourly employees have to work 10+ hour days and Saturdays, mandatory (making the wrong parts so its always in vain). Sales team is disconnected from the companys limited potential. Terminate new employees and middle management when the revenue doesnt come through. Sales team and upper-management keep their jobs even though they oversold. OSHA and EPA has been notified of their unethical work practices. Director of Operations, Engineer, Logistics Manager, Human Resources and 10+ hourly employees got terminated or quit within a months period (red flag!). See all the 1-star comments? Dont work here.
Ends assignments for people who are never late and always there. They wonder why the turnover rate is high. Will not provide temp employees with respirators. I can go on but I dont feel like writing a story right now.
Challenging and creative environment. Always trying to improve. Employees are treated nicely.
Bad company should be investigated for safety regulations. HR dept is rude and profit driven, low pay in the field with high high turnover rate. Everyone who works there is hoping for something better. Very demanding work with cancer causing materials in poor ventilation, with plasma guns, hvof and arc units is a prescription for disaster. Limited in promotions even raised are capped for exceptional employees. In short you can make the same pay without the treat working at a gas station. I quit and havent looked back.
