One of my joys of living in Summerville, Cane Bay YMCA 😃It offers a ton of options for you and the family - fitness rooms, gym, league sports, tennis, pickle ball, sauna, zumba, yoga, Olympic poolI go daily and walk/jog the upstairs track, work out in the weight room and finish up in the sauna. Ive also attended several yoga classes. Hands down the staff is awesome in their friendliness, facility cleanliness and state of the art equipment!

The facility is nice except that the air-conditioning rarely works in the fitness rooms 😡 3 stars, the instructors are awesome 🥰 5 stars, management is TERRIBLE 0 stars!! They never answer emails or messages, have no interest in expanding the pickle ball program which has the potential to be fantastic, and close up most of the facility for almost 2 weeks due to filming an HBO series... at the members expense!! If it wasnt so convenient for me, I would have cancelled my membership long ago. Also, the outside area looks terrible! Nobody takes care of the grass and flowerbeds.

Great facilities, fantastic friendly staff, not the best hours though. Wish it was open until 10 or 11pm

I give it a 4 star only because I had high expectations that it was bigger than it was. Also the fact that you have to reserve pretty much everything you want to do.Which I am sure it has to due with the pandemic.

I wish everyone in CB that constantly complains about this Y would get on here and write a review, something needs to be done. It is extreemly dissappointing to have a nice facility in an neighborhood with so many kids;yet, it is so ineffective so most families do not bother with it. The neighborhood wants to be able to ralley behind our local Y but just can not due to the disorganization, lack of respect toward families and coaches, and horrible communication. I have never been apart of a youth sports organization with such bad communication and disregaurd for families. Parents and coaches constantly call and email Jay with little feedback. Parents make sporting decisions based on information they recieve only for it to constantly change. The director Jay is impossible to get in touch with, rarely returns call or emails, and has little desire to work with parents or coaches. He seems to have no interest in doing what is best for the kids. I understand mistakes here or there but a constant lack of communication and no desire to help children, coaches, and parents who constantly ask for clarification and help in order to be sucessful is ridiculous. The leadership at the Y needs to go, as these issue have been brought to them many times with no changes. Get people in there that care about and respect the kids and their parents so the Cane Bay YMCA can flourish and the families can get excited about support ing their local YMCA.

My kids take swim classes here. Teachers are nice and personalized lessons to each kid. Just wish the classes were longer.

Budget friendly facility full size olympic pool huge weightroom with modern equipment, very clean conveniwnt location for the family and kids.

If I could leave zero stars for the swimming lessons here.. I would. Complete waste of money & the teacher didn’t communicate with the parents at all. Sad for such a nice facility.

Stopped in for a tour. Nice clean, friendly atmosphere. Met several staff members, all nice. Mrs Bowman Carroll was like a breath of fresh. She was very knowledgeable about the facilities and really cared about the members and staff. Im sure shes a real asset to your facility. Liked Chance too. It was very welcoming.

Always treat others friendly and with care ❤. My kids come here to swim and although what I am going to say next has nothing to do with sports, but I have to say: kuddos to cafeteria . The smoothies and and sandwiches here are delicious. Thank you to my girl in the caffe area. You are Awesome with my kids and cook great too!

This YMCA does not allow child watch for national members program. Out of town Visitors beware

Newer facilities. Everything is clean, staff is super friendly. All kinds of activities and events available throughout the week.

Staff offers zero assistance tells you to look things up on your phone yourself, cant answer basic questions. Played an entire season of baseball with the fields NEVER getting lined. Extremely disorganized.

This is a great friendly clean environment! My 8 year old comes here for swimming lessons. Kyle is awesome with my son. We took lessons at a new location but he would get sick every week. Apparently the water here at Cane Bay is much healthier. We love it here. It is worth the 35 minute drive.

Aweful customer service. Got charged for 2 months, but was told account inactive. Was promised numerous times to get a call back and to get it resolved... No such luck. Fast forward they didnt pull out Jan or Feb again no communication despite emails... Again fast forward to June where they bill me over $400...but being the nice guys they are they are willing to remove the months they were closed for covid. I told them how I was charged 4 months with no services... (2 paid and 2 unpaid) sent phone logs, screen shots and emails... Still saying I owe it. Needless to say we are filing a law suit after finding out we are not the only ones who have been charged several months after they were told their account was inactive and refused services.

Excellent location and outstanding customer service. Very clean and well kept equipment.

Love the place, couple thing would make 5 star... A clock the is visible while in the sauna and steam room. Someone brought cheap egg timers but they just melted or rusted. Swimsuit spinner and a small shelf for toiletries in shower. I bring my own soap and its a balancing act to put on top of curved soap dispenser or put on floor. Ive used the handicap stall when back is issue so bench was nice to have. People need to pay attention and stop bringing there kids in the locker room outside of posted swim lesson schedule. I should have to worry about covering up in front of an 8 yo boy in a mens locker room... It just wrong. This alone dropped it from 4 star. People that work there are awesome.

We are looking forward to switching over to this gym next month. We did the one week free trial and it was a great experience. The awesome atmosphere and staff as well as the gym equipment and facilities were perfect. Remind you this is just phase 1 of YMCA Cane Bay cant wait for the future of it!

So thankful for this location because of the indoor walking track! Entire family has something to do. Added bonus the library. It isnt technically a part of the YMCA, but the fact that this location has one is great. Plenty of courts outside for tennis. Very nice staff

Great place to help kids and adults train, practice and get better

Almost want to leave a bad review so it doesnt get over crowded. The staff are very helpful always nice and greet you upon arriving. The facility is clean every day we go. They have a wet and dry sauna, warmed 25 yard pool that is big enough for laps during family time. They have multiple work out areas with many many options. It gets a little crowded in the late afternoon early evening but thats to be expected. Oh and cold care. Outside they have tennis, soccer and other fields. Plus an outdoor area for entertaining. The library is also attached

Little pricey for what you get

Facility is nice but I would not recommend putting kids in any type of sports. Rules change every game. Only give them a quarter of the court to practice on. Not giving any notice of canceled practices. Its not only frustrating for parents but for the kids & coaches as well. Facility is being poorly managed. Also price is high for less games.

This place is popular and a good place to keep fit. Its the one place in the community everyone seems to go. Too bad you cant indulge unless you pay

Nice facility but incompetent staff. They cannot follow a schedule or update their website. They will say they are open all day and when you drive over the place is shut down. They do not follow their hours of operation and will close down randomly without notifying. Pretty trifling for someone that lives 30 minutes away to waste their time. Been a member a few months and three times I’ve been here in the morning and there is a line out the gate trying to go in and the place is closed without a reason why.

I Think the Staff could be a little more Friendly..I notice they pick & choose who they Greet..My Husband & I was Swimming the other day, The Lifeguard looked at us like we didn’t belong..WTH is wrong with these Folks..If you don’t like People of Color get another Job because we are here to Stay..It’s really annoying.They really need some Sensitivity Training..I’m going to give it another try because I do like the Facility but I also will take my Money elsewhere if need be.

They offer a lot of classes and they are really friendly when you speak with them in person. I have called before and spoken to someone that was a bit on the rude side. But if you go in person they are a lot friendlier.

Excellent staff at this state of the art facility!

Very friendly staff they are always trying to help and have a smile on their face!! I love the fact there is no music in the gym! I would give 5 starts once the tennis is finished - with a bench so sit on and umbrella for shade. Separation curtains are missing as well- but hopefully all coming soon.

Overall a nice establishment, the only problem that I personally have & think that others will have is the fact that they charged my wife and 10 month old to even enter the gym even though he can’t walk and she wanted to enter just to watch me play basketball.

Well organized, very neat

It’s big I’ll give it that but honestly a waste of resources. They talked it up like it would be so amazing but what they offer is very disappointing. Better luck going somewhere else.

They mislead you. Tons of promises of improvements. Sad thing is most of these said improvements were promised to be ready when the Y opened. The Y was delayed several times and is still not fully operational. The gym is about half the size of a planet fitness gym. The indoor track is not nearly as large as they made it out to be. On top of all this the employees are not informed on how the memberships work and are constantly having to go and get a manager just to answer simple questions. Very disappointed.

The front desk staff has no customer service skills. As a member of another YMCA, I went by to ask if I had access, but both the ladies at the front desk got a deplorable and condescending attitude that was extremely unhelpful. They were condescending because they told me that I would have known if I had a metro pass or not. This is not a response to any customer. For those of us that are not too familiar with the YMCA, we would not know the whole breakdown of the organization and prices. I almost wondered if they acted that way because I am Hispanic. Therefore, I will not visit this place again and I advise anyone Hispanic looking to STAY AWAY because the staff is condescending and shamefully disrespectful for no other reason than how you look.

Nice facility, cannot use the tennis courts other than Operating hours which makes no sense, especially the high monthly price you should be able to use the outdoor areas.

GREAT YMCA

This YMCA is fairly new and when things are new you have high hopes for it however from the min. I walked into this particular YMCA I could tell that things were a bit unorganized. I signed my son up for the Swim Prep II class which started on 5/20/19 and ends on 6/6/19. I signed up for the class only without a membership. I didnt get a membership because I live a little over 30 mins from this Y and didnt see myself coming here that often. Unlike other Ys Ive belonged to in the past this Y has a desk in front for everything instead of a separate desk for people joining/questions and checking in. Since I dont have a membership I have to let someone at the desk know that Im here for the Swim Prep class. Its hard to do when there are sometimes 6 or more people at the desk all asking questions, joining or trying to scan themselves in and theres only one scanner at the crowded desk. Its more than frustrating. Well Tuesday May 28, 2019 this Y game me another headache. I arrived for my sons 4:45 class only to be told the class for Tues and Wed was cancelled. They apologized and said an eMail was sent out. Well I never got that eMail. I drove back home to Moncks Corner, SC from the Y in Summerville, SC (30 min drive). When I returned home I double checked my eMail to make sure I didnt overlook it only to find an that was an eMail was sent after I left the Y earlier (the timestamp on the eMail was 5:03 pm)....I guess this was to cover themselves. This Y has potential but they need to figure some things out.
