Awful experience. The starter cant figure out how to get groups together and its an absolute mess. Was being sent out as a single rather than being paired up. In front of us was a single who didnt understand pace of play.27 holes should be 0 wait on a late Friday afternoon but they crowd everyone into 2 of the courses. Why on earth they close at 7pm in September baffles me. Light until 745 PM, last light past 8pm. Skip this course until they figure out how to run it efficiently.
We booked a 4:00 PM tee time on a Friday. Nowhere on the website did they say that the course closes at 7:00 PM. Three hours to finish 18 holes is usually a tall task. We made it to 17 after skipping past a single gentleman who was playing slower than a 4 some. There was no pace of play cart going around telling this man to speed up or let us go by. While we were about to tee off 17 a cart guy comes around and tells us to bring it in. We asked if we could just finish the 17th and we were sternly told no. I have golfed this course many times before and have been treated poorly in the pro shop as well. I give this a one star because the course is in decent shape and they take care of it but the customer service and lack of communication about the course closing at 7 PM on a Friday is uncalled for. Will not be going back anytime soon.
Easy check-in and the courses are in great shape. It would be nice to have a ranger drive through from time to time.
I like a pro shop with friendly staff, so we can start there. Course is great, so are facilities.
Great condition, greens and fairways were nearly perfect.
Excellent greens. Nice condition and interesting holes. Cant wait to come back.
Nice place but kinda pricey
Tee boxes are in rough shape, but the greens are absolutely immaculate. Very impressed by the green conditions
Greens were Beautiful. And after a heavy rain the course drained and was a blast . Love the carts the seats are so comfortable lol.
Played today with my two sons. Very fair, well conditioned layout. Typical plantation style course with lots of trees (if you spray the ball you wont be happy here). I loved the track and the greens rolled true.Very fair test of golf, some very intriguing holes and great discount for junior golfers as well.
Freezing. Out of a lot. Food was okay. Service was great...then not great.
Greens in excellent condition. Price too high for a municipal course.
Great course! Great staff and good food!
Hands down the worst brunch we’ve ever experienced. $100 down the drain as we received cold food, terrible service and no apologies. Get it together Wescott! This deserves zero stars...
When its dry, your ball rolls forever on the well manicured fairways
Great out-of-town golf experience.
Was a great course but not worth $60.
Course in great condition
What a bad experience. Proshop worker acted like he didnt care. I asked to be paired up as I was by myself and he said they were booked until 3:30 (it was 1) A guy walked in and said we only have 3 so I approached the counter and said I would play with them. He said they made a tee time for 4 so I said ok but he said they have 3. He told me to wait by the putting green and if they have 3 he would pair me up. They then proceeded to the tee and teed off as a 3sum. The starter told me no one said anything but he would watch for a group for me. I went back to the putting green and 2 groups later a 2sum teed off. At this point I went to the starter and asked about it. He said he didnt have my name. Huh? I had just talked to him and I was on the putting green waiting. Ruined a beautiful day as it was to late to go elsewhere
Pretty good for the price. Will golf again.
Did not get the name of the man. But he worked there at the desk 03-08-2020. Was treated very poorly and given comments of basically not wanting to do something because he didnt feel like it. After he already took our money he insisted on holding onto my card due to me renting the golf clubs. Not sure if this is common practice as Im use to leaving my ID with them instead. Felt odd. He kept making comments and acted like I was going to steal the clubs. I asked him about it and he gave a very sarcastic comment back to me. I in no way gave a demeanour or tone to set off this judgment to the man. He then said if we werent back by 7 hed hand off my card to someone downstairs. Some random person and didnt tell me exactly who. It was just a very uncomfortable situation. My friend says its usually a very welcoming place but I did not feel welcome at all.I am not very knowledgeable about golf but I am learning. I truly feel like I did not do or say anything to deserve these comments and it just put a sour taste during my golf run. I rushed through half the course then back to make sure my card wouldnt get passed off.
We werent told over the phone it was cart path only. 4:23 t time the guys behind us ignored cart path rule stayed on our back. Most courses give me a discount for my 20 military service I only get there if I come on Thursday.
This “Alan” fella who answered the phone when I was trying to book a Ttime was absolutely rude for no appearant reason. Loved talking over me and cutting me off made it super difficult and ended the phone call before I was finished speaking. Definitely not a good first impression for the place as a whole.
Tuesday’s senior day is great!
Staff out front by club drop off was great. Dropped off my clubs and loaded them up for me. As far as the course goes, very fair. Pretty wide open of the tee. Tough to scale it appropriately because it’s still early season, but I really enjoyed it. Especially for the cost.
Right from the start it wasn’t too pleasant. We called to book a tee time and the pro shop guy, Allen, was completely rude and started talking over us as we repeatedly spelled out the name we were booking. When we got there he asked us to pull our mask over our noses (no big deal) but his mask was not over his nose. He was completely rude throughout the entire transaction, absolutely horrendous customer service skills. He didn’t give us the total, he just said swipe your card. No please, thank you, or have a nice day.The course itself was in great shape. However the poor customer service pretty much ruined it for us.
Course looked good to the eye but wasn’t. Course could use some watering. Dry as can be. Every tee box was hard as rock and everything you hit just ran. With there be absolutely zero rough, if you missed the fairway but just a yard or two your ball was gone because it would just run. Pace of play was slow, and didn’t see a ranger anywhere to handle that. I can think of a number of courses in the low country I’d rather play.
Very nice course. Fairways were beautiful, and the greens were nice and fast! Also the cart had the most comfortable seat!
Play was super backed up and we didnt get to finish 18 in the 5 hours before it got dark. I wish they would have managed that better. The course seemed to be in good shape but had been battered by rain for the previous few days so it was a bit soaked. The greens were in great shape.
Very Nice!
Love going here on Thursday nights when I am in town. They have trivia on that night. Food is good and they full bar menu as well. Prices are also reasonable.
Three different nine hole courses makes this very challenging. Great layout.
Very poor experience and a shame for a decent course. As we picked up our cart the starter let us know we had to return our cart at 7:00 and could walk the remainder of our round. Not a big deal but should have been mentioned before we paid. What was worse was after we returned our cart the same starter drove up to as we approached our 11th whole and accused of us sneaking on because we didn’t have a cart! The absolute cherry on top was when my friend sliced his drive and it unfortunately hit a homeowners siding. He went to apologize and the homeowner began to demand he pay him on the spot for the damage. We were told assumed liability for any damage on the waiver ‘everyone signed.’ We didn’t sign anything and there isn’t signage about liability, if there was I probably wouldn’t have played here.
The staff at Wescott is tremendous from the General Manager all the way to the bag drop and cart staff. They are very welcoming and make everyone feel like they are members of the club.On top of that the food is always good and the beer and other beverages is always cold and served right on time.
Great course. Friendly staff. Food in the restaurant was awesome. Greens were in great shape. Some standing water in the bunkers but I played right after a big rain and they had groundskeepers pumping it out. Great competitive greens fees. Recommend this course to anyone traveling/visiting this area.
Played after heavy rains in late August 2017....it was cart path only however did not take away from the pleasure of playing this course. Only was able to play two of the nines, so looking forward to playing the other. I rated the fairways, greens and tee boxes 4.5....the cart path only was to protect the course and after playing golf for over 40-years I can appreciate their efforts, even with all the rain, if we were in play there was very little casual water to move from, will definitely drive from Columbia to play again. At the turn had hot food outside with a very gracious host serving...great job to all the staff, will see you soon
It is a great place to play golf!! All of the staff is just great, especially Maggie and Ron just terrific people, I just love westcott!!!!!
Challenging course. Wicked doglegs!
Played nine.Oak Forest track is in good shape. Overall nice facility. Now played 18, Black Robin-Oak Forest. This layout provides an excellent experience and value for the money.I have played nearly every course in the area over the years. This facility compares favorably with others that charge twice as much. The fairways, greens, and practice areas are in quite good shape & the staff is very helpful & friendly.I look forward to playing here regularly.
I would like to make a suggestion. Maybe direct first time players to where they need to go. I went out the back door and seen empty carts thinking this is where you pickup carts. I was rudely instructed there are no carts here, go to the front, before I could ask where that was he repeated himself and drove off. Maybe he was having a bad day? I will give him the benefit. As far as the other staff they were great. I actually left and got a refund because of this incident. I felt humiliated.
This is a well maintained course which was in good condition when I played it. The staff was friendly and accommodating. The greens were a bit quick for a public course, but not unfairly fast. Lots of dog legs. The fairways were cut at a good length to get the ball in the air with either a fairway wood or an iron. The rough was just that, and the shrubs on the sides were dense enough to keep your ball forever if one was unlucky enough to send a ball in their direction. Overall, a very nice course that I plan to visit often.
Overall nice course. But for 1 person, a round of golf should not be over 5 hours long. Also the guy at the pro shop was very unwelcoming
Went for bingo night. There were happy hour specials and although the me u is a bit limited, there was enough on it to keep everyone in our group happy. Bingo was free, the staff was great and everyone had a good time. Ages ranged from over 65 to pre teens. Prices for food and drinks were very reasonable. The whole night with a couple of drinks was $35 per couple.
Love this place. Great range and the golf course is beautiful. I recommend to every golfer out there. The clubhouse is nice to.
Great condition and very well kept. Typically I feel like a course took my money but not at Wescott. Every penny was worth the round. Awesome experience at the course.
There’s a very good reason this place is cheap. It’s a DOG TRACK. I’ve seen some par 3 courses in much better shape.
This is another delightful experience! We will be back and our family and their friends who live in the area frequent this lovely Bar and grill every few weeks. I have to say they are very particular when dining out. That says a lot about this place!
Great golf course. Friendly staff.
Ron was in the pro shop and was great. We made online tee time and it would not work right. So I called back to tell him the problem and he said print it out and all would be fine. The cart attendants were great too. They just couldnt help me with my 3 putting. Great conditions.
Small menu but the food I saw coming out looked amazing. The staff there is very aware of everyone and super attentive and nice. Trivia is run extremely well here. Only thing is Ive been told its a little too expensive to golf here.
I love Wescott Golf Course. It take me 5 minutes to get there. The course is always in great shape. The people are friendly heipful and accommodating. I feel so lucky to have in my neighborhood.
Course was in fantastic shape however the bunkers were full of water and we almost hit a grounds maintenance employee on several holes.
Beautiful and peaceful setting for a wedding or any event, including just an evening out for dinner. The food is great, the service wonderful, and the ambience top notch! Love the huge wrap around porch for quiet conversation, having a drink on, or just relaxing in one of the big rocking chairs gazing out over the beautiful golf course landscape.
The worst experience I’ve ever had! The wettest golf I’ve ever played and not a word from the pro shop to say “it’s wet out there!” They would rather take your money than you have a good time! 4 of the 9 tee boxes I played from were a lateral hazards! 6 of my tee shots plugged in the fairway! When I asked for a rain check, they looked as if I had 3 heads! When I talked to the pro to tell him I would never come back he said OK! I used to tell anyone who asked that Wescott was a good place, but now I will reconsider when recommending that golf course!
My 2 children, wife and I were riding our bikes around the neighborhood and ended up on one of the paths on the golf course. A lady on a golf cart chased us down and ordered us off the property saying that she was going to call the police if we didnt leave immediately, that this was not public property, and that we had no right to be there. The whole experience was sort of shocking and so out of the blue that I/we didnt know what to say. We left and were closely followed until we were off the property...and on the way home were passed by several police cars. I am still not sure what necessitated all the pushiness against us and I so dont appreciate my family being bullied. Especially without just cause. We were just riding bikes on the path enjoying the weather as a family.I see that most people have had absolutely incredible experiences there. Almost as if their comments were written by an ad agency. My experience is that they are not very good neighbors and are not very hospitable. That being said, the grounds are nice to look at.
The course is in pretty rough shape. The tee boxes are in horrible shape. Some of the roughest tee boxes Ive seen so far.The club house is nice and the practice facilities are pretty decent though. The price is somewhat high given the condition of the course though.
This was the least enjoyable round Ive played in the Charleston area. The course was wet and muddy from start to finish – the tee boxes, the fairways, the rough, and, most annoyingly, all around the green. Approach shots that should have rolled upon landing instead got plugged up. Several sand traps were mud traps. There were also no ball washers on the entire course. Today was Cart Path Only, which wasnt made clear until I had already paid for a cart, and it would have been easier to just walk. Just close the course if the conditions are this poor.
A huge thank you to Jessica for your wonderful help in locating my husbands phone after getting the run around for 2 days by someone else. You are our hero.
27 holes of great golf. One of my favorites when I visit the Lowcountry!
Really a nice course for the price. Stayed in Charleston. Very worth the drive!
The servers were kind and attentive. The fish with stone ground grits and creamy tasso gravy was tasty and filling.
Rather boring, mundane course for the area. Drainage is consistent with the courses in the area. Fairways and greens are typically in pretty good shape. Wide open layout and decent prices on golfnow.
I went with a group of friends to play trivia. Lots of fun. Prices for Happy hour were good. Food was okay.
Considering how much rain weve received in the area the course should have considered closing for the day to give the courses a chance to dry. Other than that I like course and would play here again.
Beautiful course and affordable. However its so tight in and around the cookie cutter centex homes that the enjoyment is quickly diminished. Lastly, the pace of play was the worse I have ever experienced. The flat bill crowd had their on cart for all 6 of them...play early and get out of there...or go spend a little more next door.
Work Christmas party was hosted here. The food was excellent and the staff was amazing. There hostess Jessica was funny, courteous, and helpful.
Tee boxes in rough shape and a 5.5 hour round on 9/19/20.
Great value and a very fun course. Staff is excellent. Im a local guy who has worked this club into my rotation.
To the superintendent keep up the great work on the greens. Staff in pro shop not very personable. Felt like he thought he was doing me a favor waiting on me.
Played in the winter so maybe its better another time of year. Not a lot of grass on the tee boxes or rough. Okay course, probably wouldnt come back until spring.
Nicest people that do more for their community than anyone could realize! Tremendous golf course and tremendous people. It is your duty to go!
We love to ⛳ here. 3 nine hole courses. Our favorite is Burn Kill, the Oak Forrest and finally, Black Robin.
Good course...difficult from the ideas! Fairways, greens and bunkers in excellent shape. Greens really significant and demand accurate placement when you care to score...while they roll a bit slow. Worth the fee and your time...would absolutely play again.
I went for a Event there. It was very nice. The staff was excellent
Great golf course. There is also a place to drive the ball. Golf carts are plentiful so there will never be a time when you are unable to get one.
Excellent course. A bit on the wet side today, but well maintained!
Once again Susan and her staff raised the bar at Wescott Plantation Golf Club. Susan and staff served up an EXCELLENT Easter Brunch! My party of eight were seated quickly, the service was superb, felt little spoiled with all the attention I got from the staff. There was plenty to eat, lots of choices and very good. Wescott Plantation Golf Club is the center piece in Wescott Neighborhood. Good Job WESCOTT! And Thanks.
Lady at the bar was the only server on hand and she was still learning. Small menu, food was mediocre but not bad. Decent place
We had our wedding at Wescott last Friday, absolutley amazing. Pam was a tremendous help during the planning process with answering my questions within 24 hours. She didnt sell the venue, she cared about what we wanted for our day and offered all amenities to help. We set aside time for a ceremony rehersal without any problems. The day of, she was there and helpful and her staff was AMAZING. So kind, helpful and complimented our decorations/day. Guests raved that the food was awesome, we offered pulled pork and chicken. Our wedding was smaller (60 guests) and everything went smoothly. I enjoyed working with Pam and her crew and loved the venue. I will recommend Wescott for any occasion!!
Very nice Muni. Black Robin was very difficult. There are 2 other 9s that are fun. Staff was very nice.
This place has changed for the worse. Whoever the older bald gentleman is the acts as the starter in the afternoon is very rude (9/15). I was a single and instead of putting me on black robin which was wide open he wanted to put me on the other course behind a foursome that just made the turn. His entire demeanor was sarcastic and condescending from the very start. Haven’t golfed in a few months due to health issues. But I will not be coming back here for a round unless things go back to how they were. Also, greens need some work. Used to be fast and true now they roll like carpet. What happened to this place?
Very nice resort! Very clean and helpful. Just wish they added microwaves to all room.
Great Muni with 3 9-hole courses and a nice clubhouse. Really did this course. Watch out for gators.
Nice layout and great service by everyone! Will definitely come back to play there again
Course is in great shape and very reasonably priced. Very friendly and informative starter.
Went a couple of weeks ago with a friend. We got paired up with another guy who ended up being a really cool guy thankfully. Course was in pretty good shape considering we played in the begining of february. Would definitely go back.
Unique course in the area. Fun holes. Priced too high imo
Great well taken care of course with a friendly staff for not too bad of a price
Staff is friendly and the course is well kept.
I wish the course was a little better maintained because it can be the best place to play golf in the Charleston area
What a fantastic public course! The greens were well kept, not a challenging course but fun to play is your ever in the subs of Charleston
Great staff, great course, all round excellent establishment.
We play here regally. The price is good and the course is always in good shape.
Greens in very good shape considering the drought. Clubhouse closed for remodeling.
