Mr Zhou is such a professional pianist and wonderful teacher with excellent piano skills, smart teaching techniques and unbelievable patience, especially for little kids. He has a talent to make lessons fun and relax, but do have requirements and disciplines----lazy ones cant pass the test with 5 stars. He records every lessons and recitals and you always get a copy to review. My 6 year daughter is expecting and enjoying her lessons every week with Mr. Zhou, who is far more patient and funny than her own parents, in her perspective :) She just had her perfect(almost) debut last week after 5 months learning. Mr. Zhou is very professional! He spent 2 1/2 hours to pitch raise and fine tune my grand piano, without a break. He plays and teaches piano himself so that he has better understanding of tuning a piano.

Mr. Zhou is a wonderful piano technician/tuner. He has become our official tuner at Century Fine Arts. He takes his time and really explains the issues facing the tuning of my pianos. He even made an emergency visit when one of my keys wouldnt rebound... (and he is also a wonderful teacher!!!!)

I started learning to play the piano in my middle age 2 years ago, when the general understanding was that the ideal time to start is young. But Sheng build up the confidence in me that it was never too late to start learning and that to always be patient with myself. He was extremely patient with me, pointing out my strong points and helping me work around my weak points. He also explains the techniques in a very simple and practical way. I found myself giving my first recital in less than a year and Im so satisfied that Im finally realizing my dream of being able to play the piano thanks to Sheng.

My son, daughter, niece, and I started our very first piano lesson with Sheng back in October 2015, and it has been quite wonderful to learn and grow every week under his teaching and guidance.First off, he did a terrific job of re-tuning an almost 50 years old piano and restoring its sound after it has been sitting idle in my parents house for several decades.Secondly, I really appreciate how he helped us to get the correct rhythm and dynamics for every musical piece that we played so that the music sounds lively and enjoyable not only for ourselves but also for our audiences. Up to this day, I still marvel at how hes able to listen and spot right on when the wrong rhythm or the wrong note is being played.As a side note, I can attest that it has not been easy for me to practice and play as it has been for my son, daughter, and niece. Thankfully, he has been always been patient and very helpful in pointing out different patterns and techniques to make it easier for an over the hill guy like me to play.Finally, what makes him a great teacher and mentor is his ability to demonstrate how to make each musical piece harmonically sings with the proper melody and accompaniment.

I only have one other teacher to compare Sheng to, but it is such a vast improvement it is nearly incomprehensible. I think the difference stems from the incredible amount of care he puts into his students learning path and their eventual performances.My first teacher basically went page by page in the adult book. Sheng jumped from book to book to not only keep learning interesting but to focus on techniques that were most importantly lacking in the student.I would highly recommend hiring him as your next piano teacher!

I have been inspired and motivated to learn piano more than ever because of Sheng, my piano teacher. He is enthusiastic and very knowledgeable about piano. He has strategically provided next action steps in each lesson to develop my piano ability. In fact I can say that the best part of my week is my piano lesson with Sheng.

Sheng did an incredible job fixing the stuck keys on my baby grand piano. We have had this problem for years and other piano technicians have misdiagnosed the problem and we have spent a lot of money with no results. Sheng almost immediately saw what the issue was, and was quickly able to make my piano playable again. On top of that, his charge was very reasonable. He is very polite and professional, and obviously has a very thorough knowledge of pianos. Im definitely going to continue using him for all my future turnings. Highly recommended!
