Fantastic! We visited Stockholm, Copenhagen, Oslo and Bergen, and Marcelo was wonderful to work with. Our hotels were excellent, transportation easy, and our tours were great. We went on bike tours in Stockholm and and Copenhagen, and they were a highlight. Our Ferry accommodations were elegant. Marcelos itinerary was easy to follow, and he was always available to answer any questions we had before and during the trip (but we didnt need to contact him during the trip because it was so well planned). We would definitely use Discover Scandinavia Tours again, and we have already recommended it to our friends.

I helped design a 2 week Norway Tour with my sister-in-law for ourselves and our spouses (my brother) which we completed in October 2019. My ancestors came from Norway, so it was a long-awaited trip for me. The itinerary was similar to the Deluxe Norway Winter Tour online. We visited Oslo, Bergen, Flam, Alesund and Kirkenes. We participated in the first “Winter Early Bird Package” at the Kirkenes Snow Hotel (we got to do dog-sledding, snowmobiling and snowshoe walking very early in the season). The tour exceeded all our expectations! The travel connections were flawless, the flights, train rides, bus passes all worked, and we felt safe and empowered to enjoy ourselves immensely.Veronica helped us decide and plan which places to go, but also listened to our individual requests for what we were seeking. Our planning process started in March and took about a month (e.g. we needed an extra day in Oslo to meet my 2nd cousin and his family)! Veronica was patient with us. Shawnna then took over to secure the exact schedules and reservations/tickets so that we didn’t have to worry. From the airlines to the individual drivers, everyone showed up and did their jobs. I appreciate all the work Discover Scandinavia Tours did, and highly recommend their services to everyone! I could write more, no one reads that much!

Marcelo planned an amazing trip for our group of 6! None of us had been to Iceland before, so we relied on him completely. He asked questions about our interests and then created an itinerary just for us. He sent us horseback riding (the absolute highlight for me), whale watching (we saw humpbacks all around us), to the Blue Lagoon (my husbands favorite), and on tours to see the sights that make Iceland so unique. I booked my first solo trip with Discover Scandinavia Tours. I was a bit nervous and overwhelmed with trying to plan a trip for myself. I also didn’t really know where to begin and I was nervous that I wouldn’t be able to tie everything together in terms of transportation, hotels, etc. It’s also hard planning these sorts of things when you have never been to there and aren’t sure how it will be. Marcelo and his team put together a wonderful experience for us. We gave them the itinerary we wanted and they arranged for hotels and tours that met the needs of our family, from 15 years old to 76 years old. The hotels were top notch, well located, and very comfortable. The tours were all excellent and met all our desires for fun in Norway and Iceland. And, when a flight got cancelled, they were able to quickly rearrange the transportation so we were met promptly when we got off the new flight, even thought it was nearly midnight.In summary, they did an excellent job for us.

My wife and I, and the couple with which we traveled, were a bit apprehensive about a trip to Iceland during the winter - so far away and so exotic. But DST made it easy, with Marcelo always available and conscientious as we planned the trip with all its tiny details.We had to cancel one of the excursions during the trip, through no fault of DST, and they handled the refund without a hassle.If I were to travel to Iceland again, I would use DST again. Perfect experience for our first visit to Scandinavia. Planning by the staff was great. We had wonderful hotels, guides and transportation for our tour of Denmark, Norway and Sweden. We couldnt have asked for or expected a more grand vacation. If youre hesitant about exploring Scandinavia, dont hesitate! We were most impressed with all three countries. We absolutely loved our experience with this tour company. We did not want a traditional tour and preferred to go on our own but with professional guidance.. Marcelo customized a tour based on our wishes. We wanted to travel by rail, not a tour bus. Marcelo also suggested some ferry passages. We agreed to try that as well. These ferries were more like luxury cruise ships than ferries. Our suite on the ferry even had a big balcony with a private hot tub!We told Marcelo what types of things we wanted to do and where we wanted to go and he made additional suggestions. He arranged all of our hotels ( we loved them all) and he arranged some day tours but also built in free time for us to explore on our own. We went to Denmark, Norway, and Sweden and loved them all.I was actually excited about writing this review and this is a first for me to feel this passionate about writing a review. They were THAT GOOD! This was a girl’s trip with my sister and our mom. We are in our mid 50’s and late 70’s and we all were thrilled with this experience! I also need to mention Shawna who assisted Marcelo.They specialize in Scandinavia only and are truly experts since they do not offer tours anywhere else. I am already reviewing their site for my adventure. Looking at Finland and maybe Iceland!

The Western Norway trip was absolutely one of my favorite trips ever. We loved the hotel selections and all travel plans were great. The tour in Oslo and the personal tour in Bergen were excellent. Neil (our Bergen tour guide) was simply outstanding. We also enjoyed the restaurant recommendations. We really dont have any negative feedback to provide. Perhaps it would nice to have some additional maps/guides that could be downloaded on our phones such as city maps/guides for Oslo and Bergen.The tour company allows you to modify any of the popular itineraries or help you completely come up with original ones. This gave us the opportunity of having a touring agency assist us while still feel as if we were planning our trip. We would absolutely work with them again in the future for our future Scandinavian adventures.

I recently booked a trip to Denmark, Norway and Sweden and have nothing but the best to say about our trip! The accommodations (all hotels plus a cruise ship from Copenhagen to Oslo) were lovely, clean and very centrally located. We received accurate instructions for local tour meet-ups that were easy to follow and just a short walk from our hotel. On these tours, we learned a lot about the history of each country. The local tour guides were very good, informative and engaging. Plus, they were on time for hotel pickups or meeting places. Since Im a bit of a foodie, the food tour in Copenhagen was a nice introduction to Danish cuisine. In fact, I dont think we had a bad meal on our entire trip!One of the big highlights of the trip was the train/boat/bus ride through Norway. I particularly loved all the waterfalls, seeing glaciers and the boat ride up the fjord. Definitely worth every minute!We appreciate the care Discover Scandinavia Tours took in ensuring all reservations were made and ready for us when we arrived at whatever spot. My husband and I just returned from a private month long trip to Denmark, Sweden, Norway and Helsinki planned by Marcelo, owner of Discover Scandinavia Tours. The trip involved many hotels, tours and transportation on trains, boats, ferries, ships and planes. Even with all of the potential problems in such an involved trip, everything went great and like clockwork, thanks for the attention to detail that was given by Marcelo and Shawna, his logistics manager. There was not one incident of a tour guide not showing up or a reservation not being made correctly. The experiences, which included food tours, private city walking tours, Sognefjord in a Nutshell, scenic train rides, Viking history tours, lots of private transfers, etc. were great with excellent guides and drivers. We feel Marcelo’s personal knowledge of Scandinavia added to the selection of activities and hotels. Our hotels were very central and quite comfortable. During our trip, Shawna was very accessible, answering any questions along the way and ensuring we had the latest information if something such as a train ride had been changed because of railroad construction. We would not hesitate to recommend this tour company, and we would be happy to use them again.

The three country tour Marcelo developed for us and another couple was exceptional, to say the least. The tour was a custom one, built using our specific interests, in our selected destinations, for the time periods we wanted in each country. And for anything we may have overlooked in our initial request, Marcelo offered numerous options to maximize our travel experience.As senior citizens, we were somewhat unsure as to traveling without a dedicated tour director, who would be our full time companion to lead us on travels through foreign several countries where we had never been. We quickly realized that with the itinerary and accommodations Marcelo established for us, a dedicated tour director was completely unnecessary. We got to enjoy our journey without feeling overly restricted or constrained, yet secure in knowing that we didnt have to concern ourselves with making reservations for accommodations, transfers, or transportation.Our only regret --- that Discover Scandinavia Tours doesnt offer travel packages to other European countries in addition to Scandinavia.

What a wonderful experience. We had looked at group and cruise ship tours but didnt want to be tied down to a ship and groups did not give you enough time in the locations to explore on your own. The excursion presented by Marcelo and Shawnna was a perfect blend for us. The small group orientstion tours give you your bearings, a taste of the city, and history of Scandinavia and the Vikings, yet still leave time to explore and just enjoy being on vacation together.Accommodations were all first rate, immaculately clean, comfy, and every one a room with a view. Marcelo prepared our itinerary for 9 nights covering Sweden, Norway & Denmark. We were billeted in 4 star hotels all of which were walking distance to tourist spots, museums, train and bus stations as well as shopping malls/stores. Our Tromso trip included the northern lights tour and reindeer sledding which was great and memorable. The number of days we stayed in each country was just perfect based on the time we have as well as the budget set. Traveling from one country/city to another was by train, plane as well as ferry and it was just smooth and not too stressful as pubic transportation were less than 5 minutes away from the hotel. I recently contacted Marcelo in order to plan an anniversary trip to Iceland with my wife. Although I gave him relatively short notice, Marcelo was able to put together an amazing 7 day tour at a reasonable price.The accommodations and tours in Iceland were all top notch. We used discover Scandinavia tours to plan a trip for my wife and I to Norway and Sweden. When I first looked into planning this trip on my own, I was overwhelmed by the possibilities. I decided to contact Marcelo who is the owner of the travel agency. I think his real strength is planning the itinerary. After a preliminary discussion with me, he immediately had an idea of the kind of trip we were looking for and planned an excellent itinerary. You do pay a little extra by using a travel agency but I found marcelos insights and experiences in Scandinavia to be invaluable. We tweaked the itinerary several times to get it just right. We began our trip in Oslo, then did the Norway in a nutshell tour into the fjords, then went to Bergen and ended our adventure in Stockholm. It was the perfect mix of cities and beautiful countryside and nature. The hotels that he booked were spot on for what we were looking for. We enjoyed every minute of our 2 week trip to Scandinavia last month. Marcelo and company recommended a great itinerary that exceeded all of our expectations - Helsinki, Copenhagen, Oslo, Balestrand, Bergen, and Stockholm - and we were well taken care of with excellent transfers and top hotels. They set us up with the perfect combination of bike/walk/culinary tours and independent exploration time. I cant imagine putting all of the pieces of this trip together on our own.We had a couple of questions and minor itinerary adjustments while on the trip, and they were super responsive and helpful. We just returned from a two week adventure organized by Marcelo for four adults. We visited Copenhagen, took the overnight ferry to Oslo, train to Balestrand and Bergen, and finally flew to Stockholm. It all went very smoothly and thanks to Marcelo and Shawnna, we felt very cared for. The communication was excellent from the start, they made great suggestions for tours and the Oslo and Bergen cards, the hotels were all well-located and very comfortable, and all within a reasonable costs. We met two other couples along the way traveling with Marcelo and they were also very happy with their experiences. I recommend DST very highly and would be happy to work with them again. I arranged my flights,told Marcelo where we would like to go (and if it was feasable to do in 14 days ) and he and Shawna did the rest. Copenhagen,Oslo,Norway in a Nutshell,Bergen,Helsinki,Tallin,,Stockholm -Im exhausted just writing it but as long as we were in the neighborhood,we wanted to see it all. Walking tours with local guides,food tour in Stockholm,the Oslo pass and overnight boats to Oslo and Stockholm were things I would not have done and Im so glad we did. We chose to have drivers pick us up but taxis are always right there so dont be concerned if you choose not to have pre-arranged pick up. A great experience and will recommend to my friends and family.

Just arrived home from a two week journey through the Scandinavian countries of Denmark, Norway, Sweden and Finland and we loved it! Marcelo and Discover Scandinavian Tours did an outstanding job with providing us the framework for an enjoyable vacation. The hotel selections, transportation and suggested recommendations met our needs and allowed us to experience Scandinavia the way it should be done. Great experience, highly recommend Marcelo! We used Marcelo’s services for a family trip to Norway in the summer of 2016 and it was our first experience with a travel agent/adviser who specializes in a particular region. The entire experience was great from the first conversation to the easy accessibility to Marcelo during our trip. His recommendations were great and he was able to get us accommodations and air fare which we had difficulty finding on our own, and for cheaper than we could find on our own. He was very easy to get in touch with, extremely knowledgeable about Scandinavia and how to best use the time we had, and he was very prompt to respond to our questions and concerns even during the actual trip. We normally do all our own vacation planning but Norway seemed a little daunting because it is a long narrow country and we wanted to optimize travel within the country with the time we had. The travel well very well designed and more important their level of response was excellent, because the weather they changed hotels and excursion in less than 3 hours allowing to live an helicopter experience two days after the initial date. Marcelo and Shawnna did a fantastic job of arranging a 2-week Sweden and Norway trip for my me, my wife and our daughter! This was a trip to celebrate our 30-year wedding anniversary. We decided to include our daughter as she has done a bit more traveling then we have done. We booked it last fall and could not have been happier. We wanted a mix of “on our own time” and local tours and sight seeing excursions which is just what we got. Our trip included a 3 hour bike tour in Stockholm, an all-day Viking tour and then a train rides over to the fiords via the Flam railway. The 2nd to our last day we had a private walking tour in Bergen Norway which was really nice. We got to hear from a local resident who was born in Bergen Norway. She took us to the fish market and gave us some great tips (she buys her seafood there 5 days a week). My daughter and I also enjoyed a rib boat ride on the fiords which was also amazing as it gave us a up front and personal tour of some awesome fiord features in Balestrand. The fiords were absolutely breathtaking and hard to describe to our family. Even the pictures don’t do it justice, you just have to see them up close and personal as we did.It was amazing how different each country is. We all think the hotels that were booked for our trip were great choices, the food from the breakfast buffets were absolutely wonderful at the hotels we stayed at. The hotel in Balestrand on the fiord was just incredible with all of the history and open view on the fiord. We’re glad to have stayed in the older part of the hotel to enjoy the rich history of what people experienced back when is was built in the year 1752.All of our hotels chosen for us were conveniently located to the main transportation area and/or city center. This was a huge win as we were able to use public transportation to visit other major nearby cities and to the airport when we left Sweden to go to Oslo.All things considered the 2 weeks went by really fast. We were always on the move and spent very little time in our hotel room. I must say we used every possible means of transportation that each country had to offer with the exception of horse and buggy.Marcelo Included the “Oslo Pass” which worked out really well. I believe it’s a great package and very happy we had it. It’s well worth the money as we used the travel options, went to the majority of the museums and also used it for the discounts on our restaurant while in Oslo. It made it cost effective and others tourist we encountered along the way were asking how they could get the Oslo Pass.I wish we had an extra day in Bergen. By the end of trip we were all very tired and the flight home was very early. Having an extra day would have been good to allow more exploration and time to try out different restaurant options etc. But we needed to get back in time to get ready for going back to work ;(I’d like very much to go back at some time and would highly recommend others to consider working with Marcella and Shawnna & take advantage of some of the wonderful tour guides that we were lucky enough to have experienced during our trip.The airports in Sweden and Norway are easy to navigate and we really had no bad experiences with the people in Sweden or Norway. Everyone we encountered was very polite, and willing to help us and talk in English. All of the people that led the tours were really easy to talk to and were a wealth of knowledge! This was a great vacation.

My husband and I recently returned from a 16-day trip which included four days in Iceland and the remaining time in Norway. We wanted to travel independently and were so happy when we found Discover Scandinavia Tours. Review of Discover Scandinavia ToursFamily of four traveling to Iceland the first week of November – two adults and two children ages 3 & 5Epic trip. On very late notice – two weeks in advance – Marcelo & Shawnna put together an incredible itinerary for my family and me to Iceland: we stayed in Reykjavík; we toured the countryside; and we saw the Aurora Borealis (northern lights). My family and I had a wonderful time, particularly our two young daughters.Upon landing, the driver picked us up from Keflavík (KEF) as planned and took us directly to the Blue Lagoon. The Blue Lagoon is a geothermal hot spring and a very popular tourist spot for good reason. It was a great introduction to Iceland and Marcelo & Shawnna arranged for the driver to stay onsite for as long as we wanted before heading to our hotel to check in.The hotel that Marcelo & Shawnna scheduled, Apotek Hotel in Reykjavík, was perfect for our family. We stayed in one room as a family and the hotel set up twin beds for the girls while we had a large bed. There was plenty of room with a sitting area though we did not stay in the hotel much. Apotek Hotel included a continental breakfast, which was a great way to start each day. The restaurant itself is very nice, and breakfast was no exception. Further, Apotek Hotel is very convenient, and we were able to walk easily to a lot of great restaurants; clothing was casual. One could dress up, but not required, and most people wore smart-casual attire. Four restaurants to point out:1. Fish Company – the best shellfish soup and excellent sushi – we had lunch there after the Blue Lagoon and think it was the best meal we had2. Fish Market – outstanding but pricey; they have four dishes they do half price/portion for kids3. Grill Market – very popular and great venue, but we were not as impressed with the food as the hype would suggest4. Gott – excellent food and very good with the kids, had colored pencils and drawing place mats but in a civilized atmosphereIn addition, Marcelo & Shawnna set us up with a local guide company, Amazing Tours; the company is outstanding. We were very pleased with the guides and the vehicles. Marcelo & Shawnna even helped coordinate car seats for the off-road Land Cruiser for our girls. The Golden Circle tour was great and we loved it – other-worldly topography (the continental shelf, waterfalls and geysers), a stop at a local farm for fresh ice cream, and a stop at a greenhouse tomato farm for hot soup and Bloody Marys. We also did the Southern Region tour, which included a glacier, waterfalls, and the seashore. The black sand beaches are remarkable, and on the Southern Tour we were able to see up close the natural sets from Star Wars Rogue One (opening scene) and Game of Thrones.Marcelo & Shawnna also coordinated a city tour of Reykjavík. It was a great opportunity to see the city, its history, and relax a bit, as there was less walking/hiking associated with this tour. A few sites on the city tour included: Hallgrímskirkja (modern Lutheran cathedral), Perlan (beautiful glass-domed observation restaurant and museum overlooking Reykjavík), Bessastaðir (the official residence of the President of Iceland), and Höfði House (location of a 1986 historic summit between Ronald Reagan and Mikhail Gorbachev).Marcelo & Shawnna made this trip seamless. My family and I had an incredible and memorable time, and I look forward to using Discover Scandinavia Tours for future trips to Iceland and other parts of Scandinavia. Outstanding customer service, every aspect of our trip to Iceland was planned perfectly, entire experience exceeded our expectations. I will certainly use Discover Scandinavia Tours again when we decide to explore the rest of Scandinavia!

It becomes obvious upon arrival in Iceland and then Norway that Discover Scandinavia Tours is vastly familiar with the area. Our transportation was prearranged, our hotels and our tours. We had asked for upgrades to 5 star everything - and thats exactly what Marcelo arranged. The Apotex Hotel in Reykjavik was perfectly located in the center of town, the Hotel Ranga on the southern coast of Iceland was absolute luxury. I havent yet decided if I like Norways fjords better than Icelands volcanos, but let me say if you ever get a chance - see them both. Maybe not as one long adventure, but two separate events. Packing for 2 climates proved a daunting task. Boots and coats in one place, then sandals and Ts in the next. But then Marcelo arranged for us to NEVER have to carry our own luggage. Oh were we spoiled.

Buses, planes, trains and boats took me safely from the highlights of the big cities to the nooks and crannies of the fjords and glaciers. But there is a lot to be said about the beautiful cities especially Bergen where I spent not enough time considering all the marvels to be seen. The places and activities that Marcelo sent me to were more than I hoped for. He went the extra mile every single day. He even had some of my luggage transferred mid trip, as i had a bicycle trip at the end and had way too many bags to handle!!He was super organized.Scandinavia has to be one of my top tours ever.
