At first was very impressed with the meal we had been served to try for our wedding. We loved the mashed potatoes the most and it was a must on our wedding menu!Closer to the wedding, the guy in charge of the company stated he wanted to move and rearrange the tables… 4 days before the wedding!!! Stating “I’ve been to this venue a 100x it’s work best if it was like this”… It was not cool and a completely unnecessary stress factor added, he wanted to run the show and it was his way or the highway, you couldn’t get a word in with this guy. Not even worth trying.For the food: SO BLAND, and NO MASHED POTATOES!!! It was so embarrassing to serve boxed scalloped potatoes and cold green beans to my guests. Bread was cold, chicken looked so unappetizing, just a brown colored chicken in some runny juice which was supposed to be chicken Marsala… everything was a huge disappointment and in the beginning everything felt so so right.1/10 so disappointed. DO NOT SERVE YOUR GUESTS THIS FOOD

Special Moments catered our wedding, and did a fantastic job! Their staff was prompt and helpful, the food was delicious, and they were quite reasonably priced. They also had an excellent selection of add-ons like charger plates and linen colors. They boxed up the leftovers and even donated some to charity with our permission. We loved having them serve at our wedding and we thought they did and wonderful and through job.

Our wedding was in May, 2019. From the initial tasting to the day of, I cannot express my gratitude for this company! I was looking for good quality BBQ buffet food. We had red roasted potatoes, BBQ ribs, chicken with sauce on the side, salad and corn bread. The food was excellent! The quality paired to the original tasting was exactly the same and phenomenal. Kelly was so helpful with any and everything I asked for. The entire staff was extremely professional, on time, willing to go above and beyond for any request. Down to the curtains behind my sweetheart table. I requested navy blue curtains the week before with burlap and lace to tie them, not the diamond strands they had on display. Kelly made some calls and found exactly what I wanted at no extra charge! I am a savvy shopper, very aware of where my money is going. After calling around for other companies, SMC proved to have the best quality for your money. I was disappointed for being charged under 100 people, yet every company I called said they would charge the same. I will always recommend this company to anyone looking for any event planning!!

We hired Special Moments to cater our wedding and they did not disappoint! They were a pleasure to work with from the beginning. Steve and Jamie were always there to answer any questions and made the process as smooth as possible. The entire staff day off was excellent! They were all very professional, prompt and friendly and the food was delicious!! They helped make our wedding day everything we dreamed of. I highly recommend using them for your next event.

We had Special moments for our wedding and they were great from start to finish. The price was great, food quality was high, Steve the owner came to our event to make sure everything was set up right and gave us feedback on what needed to be adjusted for a smooth layout. Their staff was all awesome, their bar tenders were above any bar tender I’ve ever been into at any wedding, over all 5 stars to make our day great. It’s not easy (Nearly impossible) to make someone 100% happy All the way around on their wedding day but we were 5 stars across the board. Thanks Steve and company!

Kelly was very helpful with planning our daughters wedding. Catering staff the day of the wedding were friendly and easy to work with. We were under the impression that we were getting the same chicken that was presented to us at the time of our trial tasting. I will agree with the others that have commented it is a catering business you get what you pay for. Food is not great.

Our wedding was on 8-18-18 let me start by saying the wait staff was great but we were charged 90.00 for using a credit card after offering to pay by check. We called Kelly multiple times and was ignored then called Steve the owner and he couldn’t even find the time to call and attempt solve the issue. WARNING the food is much better at the tasting. Do not recommend

Special Moments Catering provided the food for our wedding on October 17, 2015. Our experience from our first phone call, meeting and through the whole process was top notch. The timing of the delivery was perfect. The young lady that delivered way joyful, kind and professional. Steve replied to any question I had immediately, even though at times I emailed late in the evening. The food was extraordinary and everyone complimented how great the meal was. My brother and his wife just used Special Moments Catering for their wedding in October. I have to say that I was really impressed. Not only were their staff and servers very professional, but the food was AMAZING. This is by far the best catering company in the Cleveland - Akron area. Well worth the price!

The food was great, many guests complimented it. The servers were excellent and very helpful. The owner however was very rude and unprofessional. He was very disrespectful to my bride, other vendors, staff, the mother of the bride, the bridal party, and family helping to setup. Would highly recommend special mpments if it werent for his rudeness.

Our set up person the initial day, Sabrina, was fantastic! Despite the owner, whom she was riding with as helper, arriving TWO HOURS after the scheduled time to meet to set up, she and she alone - as the owner which he made sure to tell every person there at least once that IM THE OWNER couldnt be bothered to lift a thing or put down his phone long enough -she got the linens on most of the tables we had set up for the event. They didnt bring enough table runners, so he tried to lie and say they were not for the bridal party table, cake table or gift table, but hed let us use his extras. I called him out then decided he wasnt worth the trouble, I supplied my own.Naturally, he had another matter to attend when his rudeness and absolutely unacceptable behaviors were politely rebuked, he then called in 2 more helpers to finish with the chair covers and place settings.Once they arrived, things went a little more smoothly, but as myself and those others with me had already been there 5 HOURS, we ended up pitching in just so we could get things done.The day of the wedding-When we arrived the food was there and warm. Michelle, Kevin &his Mrs were very polite, personable and did a great job!!! They work well as a team. The carver, I was asked more than a couple times by guests Whos the jerk?, I then went to see for myself who this was- no surprise owner was there himself carving the dried out roast pork.The food wasnt anything like the initial tasting. My son & his bride were disappointed. No flavor, the chicken cordon blue knock off tasted like frozen heat & eat available at grocery.Having witnessed first hand the way this was handled by the owner, I strongly suggest that anyone looking for a caterer for a wedding to look elsewhere, unless you can get a guarantee in writing on two points1) that the overly inflated ego wielding owner NOT be present in any way at any time2) the food taste the EXACT same at wedding or other event as it was during the tasting, guaranteed.I know who we WONT be contacting for the upcoming weddings of our 4 other children.Its unfortunate as most of the staff are truly professional people with great people skills, and the saving grace from a 1 star or less review.Mother of the groom.

We scheduled a tasting it was canceled by them the day of 1.5 hours before we were supposed to be there. Its about an hour drive so we took off work got a baby sitter and were getting ready to leave to go there when we got the cancelation call. Ok I get it you had a family emergency they happen and we both lost a days work because of it. But after multiple emails still nothing.. no response no rescheduling nothing just faded away after wasting our time. But after seeing the reviews and speaking to a few people this is a Blessing that we didnt commit to such a terrible company for such a big day. If this is how you are treated before money is exchanged I couldnt even imagine dealing with them the day of. Use these people at your own risk. Buyer beware. You get what you pay for.

Our wedding was August 11, 2018. I waited to write this review in hopes that SMC and myself could find a solution. That didnt happen at all. I have to say I have never been so embarrassed in my life. When we booked with SMC, I was specifically told that my bridal party would be taken care of. No where was I told that it was an extra charge if I wanted them served! I did not get plated so I was specifically told ONLY MY BRIDAL PARTY WOULD BE SERVED and not guests. We would have paid the extra money if it had been COMMUNICATED to us! Like how I wasnt told Ill be charged a 200 dollar fee if I went under a certain amount of people on the weekends until after I seen the charges and asked and discussed it with Steve. My bridal party got up to serve themselves in their gowns and suites like they were peasants. UNACCEPTABLE! Also, we ordered slow roasted chicken with gravy. Not partially uncooked boiled chicken. It was not edible at all and very dry and tough! And the fresh string beans was barely chewable. We were embarrassed and wasted a lot of money. The food was not what we expected at all from having a pleasant food tasting experience. I was told, after I complained, that I ordered a different dish than what our food tasting dish was. Um, duh...but what does that have to do with the food being uncooked? This is truly UNACCEPTABLE. And it ruined our dinner for ourselves and our family and friends at our wedding that we dont have the pleasure of getting a do over. I sent an email detailing these mishaps and in return, I received a response deflecting everything that was a complaint. And after sending another email, I have been completely ignored. I gave two stars because they were on time and their set up was nice. This was truly disappointing.

When I found this place I was more than excited! The price was perfect and the trial food the owner sent us home with was great! I was hesitant because I did not like some of the reviews I was reading, but we went with them after meeting them. They responded to all my emails and phone calls promptly, which was very nice. The service the day before, when they came to set up, was also very nice. They were patient and understanding when we hit a bump in the road and had to wait locked outside the venue for about 20 mins. The problem was with the food the day of. The green beans we were sent home with for our trial meal were some of the tastiest, freshest beans ever...and I LOVE green beans! However, they day of the wedding....they were clearly canned beans....and they were gross. I am a vegetarian, as well as a few other of my wedding guests (actually they are vegan). I requested a vegan meal to be available and asked several times what that meal would be. Steve assured me it would be amazing, and vegan...he said maybe a stir fry type thing. The vegan meal the day of my wedding was overcooked rigatoni drenched in cheese. I did not eat very much of my dish at all....maybe three bites. I do not like rigatoni, I thought I was getting a stir fry type dish (which I love). Nonetheless, their service is great....but delivery and food quality is not.

The complaint is with the staff.This event was my Daughters wedding reception and as the fatherof the Bride I was treated with disrespect by several of the serversand also heard from several of our guests that they wre treated thesame. I did not need to hear from one of our guest that my daughtermust not like me much which is furthest from the truth which was his defensefor not following direction. The carver was also rude to several of the guests aswell as this is where other complaints came from. When complaints were madeduring the reception there was nothing done to correct the issues. To this daynot even an apology for the only mar on this special day for the actions of severalservers .Gary
