MARCH 7 2013I have had the pleasure of the treatment and care from Steve Vera, CP for nearly ten years. He is highly skilled & willing to go outside the box to satisfy the need of the patients comfort.. I had my leg amputated in 1970 just below the knee. The stump is a difficult fit due to the contours and the nerves are so close to the surface they require a very precise contour fit of the final socket. Over the years I have met prosthetic fitters who were not able to accomplish that feat. 10 years ago I had to find a new fitter since my prior fitter retired.. I went to a large company where they said they could make a leg for a difficult to fit stump.. After the fittings were completed the final socket was made & just as I had done in other shops I signed the final form and left.. The next day I could not wear it for the serious pain it produced.. I called the guy who had made it & he bluntly refused to do anything, adjustments or redesigning of the socket, He said You signed the final form!.. I phoned the insurance company & gave full details of my experience with the clown who was now denying me any treatment or fittings.. Finally the insurance co. agreed to allowed me to find another prosthetist company whereby they would pay again for another leg.. I phoned my now retired prior prosthetist and explained the situation... He agreed to meet me at Steve Veras shop where he introduced me.. Thanks to my prior prosthest I have been a satisfied patient of Mr S. Vera for the past 10 years.. Without hesitation Mr. S. Vera has always been willing to make an adjustment.I DO Recommend that a prospective patient in need of prosthetics (No matter the age) seek an appointment whether you are new or an experienced wearer of a prosthetic limb or simply not comfortable in your prosthetic ..If you should choose to be be fitted by Mr. Vera who works through his decades of honed experience, skill and the heart I believe you will be highly satisfied with the outcome. He does not work with a conveyer belt mentality but with the goal of satisfying the patients needs..Thank You, Lance F.
