Brought my truck in for a repair. Then noticed a leak in the same area, so I thought it wasnt fixed correctly. I brought it back & spoke to Dave, the owner & he was quick to get to the bottom of the issue, which was unrelated & repaired it at no cost to me!! Now, thats customer service at its finest! Ive had a great many broken cars. Central Automotive is the only place Ill bring my cars now. They are extremely fair priced, always are able to fix my cars, and theyre able to do it fast so I can have my car back all fixed up. The staff is always very nice. Other paces in town will tell you to fix things that dont need fixing or charge you double what Central will charge you for the same work. Hands down best Auto repair in town!

Dave, and his crew are hard working and honest. He has put together a crew of the finest mechanics Ive ever dealt with. I started going there in late 2017 havent been anywhere else since, all our vehicles we take there, have always been taken care of properly, promptly, and almost always under bid.Thanks Dave!

If you cant handle Covid, dont want to wear a mask or gloves to get or return the device to my car, maybe you shouldnt be in customer service. Dont tell me that if you have to get the device from my car and put on gloves it will cost me 1-2 more hours waiting. That is so unprofessional. I’ve had my vehicle into Central twice in the last month or so. I came away from both experiences more than impressed with the knowledge and more importantly, the service. The first experience was a fairly simple repair, but the first place I brought it to didn’t fix it. Central did. Dave (the owner) also explained what had caused the issue and recommended some additional service, which I knew was necessary soon, but opted to delay fixing it. The second time, my wife, kids and I were on our way out of town and the heat index was 115 and our AC was showing signs of failing. I called late on a Friday afternoon and explained this to Dave and he says “swing on in and we’ll take a look.” I was there 10 minutes later, camper in tow and pulled up to an open bay door and was met by Dave and another mechanic. They had my AC fixed, fluids topped off and radiator cleaned in about 15 minutes and we were on our way. I will never go to another auto repair shop. These guys, especially Dave, are what you hope your repair shop would be like.

I had a right window regulator replaced more than 3 years ago. I had to take it back 4 times and it still wasnt quite right. The window really struggled to go up. I got weary of going back there after spending $400.00+ for this...... 3 years to the date, the window fell through the door. They had closed early this particular Saturday, so I went over to Freds Tires and low and behold, there was one of the 3 guys that had worked on my window. He at least helped me to get it up to tape it. He remembered working on that window. So, due to the high cost, I rode around with the window taped up for over a year until I found a very thorough and trustworthy mechanic in Lake Elmo through word of mouth. Theyve got my business now. Even though I had to dish out over $400.00 for another regulator, it is working like a charm, so fine and smooth, the way it should have been done the first time. The new mechanic said the cables were all twisted and messed up when he originally looked at it. :(

Took a vehicle for a used car inspection and got a detailed report for 42.00. I was told I could come back with two more for free essentially because that price covered 3 inspections. Bought said vehicle, very satisfied. Straight forward mechanics with great prices, which is very appreciated.

Had them do multiple things, probably wont go back. Told me the oil change was going to be $32.99, charged me $39.99. Had the exhaust flex joint replaced. Happy with the results, not happy with the cost or time spent on it. Originally on Thursday evening they said it would be done by 12:30pm, then called to update that it would be 1:30pm. Got there at 1:30pm, car didnt finish until 2:50pm. Hindsight I should have ordered just the flex joint and had it welded in elsewhere. That would have been $50-$100 (according to another mechanic I talked to after), but the guys at the shop insisted that the whole section needed to be replaced and welding would have cost $300. I know that the pipe was solid enough to weld to for a semi-long term fix because I had checked the leak before coming in.That exhaust section replacement was $450. Im not too upset over that though because they did a nice job. I also had the sway bar bushing replaced and that was done at a competitive price.The part that makes me not want to go back is that I originally went in to have the front pads and rotors replaced. They quoted $385. That was insane. The nicest pads at Oriellys are $50, and both rotors were $40 a piece. I changed them at home in 45 min, you cant tell me that the mechanics cant do it faster. It could not add up to almost $400.

They let me bring my own oil and filter in and did the work for me relatively cheap since my car did not fit up on to my ramps and is too low to the ground

If I could give this place negative stars I would. Dave was really nice, but Jason (dark skinned guy) was extremely rude. I purchased coupons from a nice guy, but when I told them who the guy was, they proceeded to bash him and call him an alcoholic. Theyre lucky the advertising agency they used are helping them get business. I would not be patronizing this place ever again, and Ill tell everyone I know to steer clear, they dont appreciate your business here. Dave, hire new guys, and get rid of these ones. Theyre bad for your business, and Jason should not be the face of your store, he doesnt handle paying customers well.

I usually dont write reviews unless im extremely impressed or extremely dissatisfied. Here are the reasons ill never go back. 1) The tech left grime from his hands on the inside door handle. 2) I was told an alignment was 68 and I was charged round 94.00. 3) I left the car there for two days for work and instructed to leave the car locked because I was going to pick up on Sunday with another set of keys I have. It was not locked. 4) They did not provide the info sheet on the alignment. My wife (the primary driver) questions if one was really done and I also noticed no difference. When I called on this I was told it was fine when they drove it but its interesting because there was hardly any fuel left in the car before I took it in. Ill gladly spend double for service at a local dealer after this experience.

Rolled in on a whim Saturday afternoon. It was hot and muggy and I needed my a/c sucked down and charged due to a recent DIY engine swap. I owned a Napa auto care center for 16 yrs so I am extremely particular about my vehicle care. 40 minutes to closing and they jumped right on it anyway. They had the right equipment, used it well and wasted no time banging it out. The price was fair and I would definitely use them again.

One word...Rape. $590 for a valve cover gasket and high pressure power steering hose replacement for a 4 cylinder engine. Which the hose is leaking all over the place right now after 1 year. Do yourself a favor and drive way past Stillwater, MN and save your butthole and purse/wallet at the same time.
