I wish there was a no star option. I believe the only reason I have any reason to keep my current service is because I was grandfathered in on an unlimited plan from Northland Communications. Im currently pinging the Vyve default gateway, so those who know networking... the next hop... and getting anywhere between 9ms and 300. I have called to get this worked on and was told wait about 2 weeks, were in the middle of a migration and its like this pretty much everywhere BUT one of my neighbors has ZERO problems... Seems to me that you will be best served to stay away from this group if you can...
Vyve is a great internet provider! If ever I have any issues with my service I can shoot them a quick email and they resolve issues promptly. I have midrange internet and it is perfect for my family. No complaints from Vyve! All good here :)
Original review:Dont bother trying to use their Gigabyte internet. The best they can maintain is 200 Megabytes at any one time. Calling their technical support is a frustrating endeavor, and talking to the people at the front desk is a joke.First edit:A technician was scheduled to come troubleshoot and never showed up. I have emailed the address provided by the response to this. I will update further at a later date.Final update:Technician showed up, Im going to eat a little crow on this one, turns out this time it was an issue with the advanced ethernet settings. The technician was polite and knowledgeable, and forewarned that there are ongoing technical issues within the company network they are working to resolve.I am paying for 1000Mb down and 35Mb up service, on average I still only receive 800 down, and the correct amount up. While it is an improvement, it is still not what I am expected to pay full price for.I will not give a positive review for a company that imposes data caps and overage charges.
I called yesterday to have internet set up and today the technician Blanton showed up early and got everything done really fast and was very helpful. Great customer service. If you want internet in Stephenville, you should just skip any other company and go straight to Vyve.
Had to make extra trips to office because they wont give out the phone number. I would have called ahead of time. The ladies in the office were very helpful and knowledgeable.
Robert was very informed on not only the products offered but the guide as well. After not finding the program I wanted he walked me through the refreshing of my channel guide to find the program I wanted. Great Job Robert and thanks VIVE for training your customer service reps so well!!
Do far decent service. Not the horror stories I heard about when I moved here lastonth
Started out great, but recently I am having issues with latency. From about 4:00 PM to midnight I have massive ping issues. At the lowest I am having about 110ms and the highest seems to be around 600ms. This makes doing anything that requires even the slightest bit of response time nigh impossible. I would not recommend this provider to anyone until this changes.
The technicians are the only good parts of Vyve. Of course, they were part of Northland, so that would explain it.If one person from that company would respond to the problems and answer truthfully, it would help.I might as well have dial-up internet, plus pay for it because that is how fast this company is.As far as cable, channels that I am paying dearly for are unavailable, or should I say This channel should be available shortly. Of course, shortly must mean a couple of weeks or more. We can get the regular channels, but dont count on 108, 401, 29 and 133!I called two days ago and was hung up on and yesterday, my call was answered and this poor soul knew nothing. She was going to contact the Stephenville office and then call me back. Of course I am still waiting!!
Amazing had them for the past 4 years. Never had any problems
Slow, overpriced garbage of an internet provider. Buyer beware.
Vyve buying out northland is the worst thing to happen to Stephenville. I have never experienced such horrendous internet. I dream of going back to my ranch in the middle of nowhere where the internet connection is faster and more reliable than the sad excuse Vyve gives us.And if it wasnt bad enough, I tried sending an email to the address the reply-bot gave to me but to no avail. I was immediately met with a bot replying telling me my email couldnt be sent and that it was a permanent issue so I cant even talk to anyone about this I guess? Bravo, at this point you can only impress me.
Way too expensive! Also very poor quality service. Generally they are not very friendly with customer service. However there is a redhead I dont know her name but she works at the office in my local area who is very friendly. And she just so happens to be the only person Ive ever really had a positive experience with in this company if I could afford to switch and pay a deposit on another cable and internet service I would absolutely do so. I paid $200 a month for the deluxe cable package which is not much in addition to a hundred Megs internet service. Far too expensive! In the service cuts out more often than not.
I havent had a problem with this service
Internet speeds mostly as advertised. We had a recurring internet issue after we moved across town, but it was addressed after a few service visits.
Been with northland for 10 years now. So much better than other providers. Speeds faster. No contract and no auto pay.
Northland is hands down the best provider I’ve ever used! I rate them 5 stars in all areas: top quality service that is very affordable and well worth it’s value, amazing staff and customer service, quick resolutions to things like outages (which I’ve only experienced a couple times due to horrible weather). I can tell the company really cares about the quality of service they provide, because there have been major upgrades and improvements made just in the 2 years I’ve had the service. I plan on opening a business soon and know that I will be signing up for fiber! My friends and family are all satisfied with this company as well, and I could not recommend them more.
Only giving 2 stars because of the technicians and the office lady I spoke with. I pay for 100 mbps but I don’t get near that. For as much as it cost it’s really starting to upset me. Have nothing but connection issues with this service. Constantly dropping connection and it gets real irritating. Just had a technician come to the house 4 days ago and although he was very polite and tried to do something to fix the issue it’s still the same. We lose internet about 6 to 10 times a day. Absolutely horrible. I’m about to the point of trying other options. NOT HAPPY AT ALL WITH THIS SERVICE!
We have had their service for three years now. Starting with cable and internet. Dropped the cable due to such high cost. Have had internet only for about two years. We have their slowest speed at 25. But it runs at 8-12. There’s only two of us and no gaming system so basically two phones and one television using service. I can put up with the glitches all the time...it’s the price that’s killing us. Over 80$ a month for this! Started out at 45$....and every time I inquire about a possible special I am answered with a very snippy no. we r on a fixed income and due to cost it’s becoming a hardship to continue service and I am diligently looking for another company to provide service since internet connection is really a basic need anymore. Hard to believe that there’s not more choice in a town with a large state college! 80 a month for a basic internet service is really ridiculous.
Poor cable now extra local fees
First, Amber in the office was very apologetic and as helpful as she was allowed to be. However, Northland did not set up an account as directed, resulting in billing problems and service termination for a client we are helping. I am most disappointed in the service, as we were assured when starting that setting up the account this way was taken care of. It was not. Needless stress for a student and for me. That is why my own service is with TotalCom.
Guaranteed drops daily.
Disconnected daily. About ready to drop them. Go with anyone else right now!
Excellent speeds! they have laid fiber everywhere in this town! well worth the money
Would give zero stars if I could. Since we have moved in we have yet to go a single month without some issue or another. Instead of fixing the actual problem, all they do is replace the modem. I just had a new modem installed and working fine YESTERDAY, after waiting a week and a half for service. Now, no internet and waiting for another week to do the same thing all over. Poor management and poor service.
Love this company! I’ve been working with Ed Joy to resolve an issue we were having because of slow internet...I still can’t believe that Northland brought Fiber to Stephenville
Our Upload speeds stay up for about a hour in the mornings then once it passes 12-1 p.m its gone! I rely on upload to do a majority of things and Im losing out on work. They have sent two technicians and it hasnt solved the problem yet.
Northland has really come a long way with service and infrastructure. They’ve turned a corner and would have my business.
Phenomenal customer service and even better services!! Highly recommend!
Only reason I give 2 stars is because of the technicians. Every one I have met has been extremely helpful, but they can only do so much when the service they are trying to fix is not fixable in the first place. I pay for 100 Mbps speeds but average 25. I rely heavily on internet for my job and the UPLOAD SPEED IS MORE IMPORTANT. I do not care about download near as much. If they have fiber in this area, i would love to know. Because whatever they have running to my house now is too inconsistent. ESPECIALLY for how expensive it is. In Granbury i was able to get 400 Mbps for the same price and it was consistent. I am not happy with this service at all!
Wont do business with them even though I tried. I called to get internet only and was told they didnt know if they serviced my area and they would have to send someone out to see (even though I stated all my neighborhood has service). They said they would call back. I waited a few days and never heard back. I called again and asked to speak with someone locally because they would know my house is in the service area. They said I couldnt talk to anyone locally and that they checked and my address is not within the service area. I live in town. My neighbors have their service. Theres no reason why I shouldnt. But even if they did provide service to my address I would not do business with them. If they are this bad at sales, returning calls and dealing with potential customers....Id hate to think how bad theyd be once they have my money.
Their slogan should be paying so much for so little. They lack many channels even on upgraded packages and the quality is horrible we rarely have a recording that is completely viewable, not to mention the Internet goes in and out constantly. $130 for internet and the most basic cable?!
These guys rock! They just totally upgraded Stephenville and Dublin. We get 100mbps at our home for $59!!! Stephenville needed this
I have recently moved into an apartment for college. The current prices from other internet providers are actually insane, and should be considered theft. Northland comm had my internet installed, and up and running in under 24 hours. Im currently paying $70 for 100mbps download speed, and I have yet to have any issues. Highly recommended over other internet providers. Other options would be $150 for 50mbps with other internet providers in the area, which is insanely high.
Service was acceptable a few years ago but is decreasing with every price increase. Maximum throughput varies across the days and times so plans are not accurate. Minimum of 4 full outages this month. FCC defines broadband as 25 Mbps down 3 up; can only get 24 down and 2 up.
While download speed is great, pretty much EVERYONE I know agrees that more UPload speeds are needed ! ! !
Mediocre service with mediocre speeds. I feel like I took a trip back to the 90s with the prices compared to speed. The service is not reliable and you get constant disconnects when you need it the most.
Internet constantly drops. I have to unplug the modem every 45 minutes or so. This has happened twice in less than a month. I hate to be that customer (I always give multiple chances before posting public reviews), but when Im paying top dollar for the 24 MB service, my standards are high. Its gotten ridiculous, and has all but forced me to not only stop recommending them to friends, but to actively dissuade them from choosing Northland. I cant, in good conscience, pretend that their service is worth anywhere near what friends would have to pay for it.
I used this internet service for over a year and can honestly say things didnt start bad. They throw deals at ya to get you in, then stick it to you 3 months later. I had the 24mps package and was paying around $85.00 a month after my deal ran out. Internet was great at first, but then hit rock bottom fast. On my 25mps net speed I could hardly run Netflix or Youtube thats unacceptable. With one device hooked to my modem it should have flew through everything. Bill options online got scary because with such horrible internet speed, sometimes it would double pay bills. No help, did not fix anything, slapped a ruko on my account that I rented that I paided for 100 times over. Then what I like to call the most bs unacceptable, unprofessional, part of the entire process. I shut off my internet, couldnt afford it anymore and honestly didnt want to find the money to pay for suck horrible seevice anyway. So, they just pop up. No phone call, no email, no text, no knock at the damn door. I walk outside to get something out of my vehicle and there someone is walking around my yard. I went back in yo get my phone and keys to lock door cuz I had my children there. Maybe 2 minutes that took and when I hit the outside again they was gone. Alot of weird stuff has been going on lately with people pretending to be someone they are not and stealing outside items or trying to get into homes. I filed a police report and left it at that. DO NOT USE THIS SEVICE. OVER PRICED, TACK ALL KINDS OF LITTLE THINGS ON THERE TO GET YOUR MONEY, SEVICE WAS ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE, AND ABSOLUTELY NO RESPECT FOR THE PRIVACY OR PROTECTION OF ONES HOME AND CHILDREN. FIND A BETTER SERVICE, YOU WILL THANK ME LATER.
Provider does not honor agreements made. Do not trust customer service, and never use their seasonal vacation option, rates will increase after if you choose to do so. Would not recommend to anyone.Unfortunately, this company and Century Link run a monopoly on the internet market here in Stephenville so you are stuck with two really bad providers. Service is worth half the price they offer at best.
Had bundle through them cable would go out in mornings dropped cable and stream all out tv with no problem at all speeds are good for around here. Been a customer for over 2 years.
Very mean people, bad price, bad service. They tend to use smaller towns to create a monopolistic atmosphere where they can offer poor service, at high costs, while hiding behind phony download speeds, and flyer costs that soon do not measure up to what was advertised. Terrible business, it makes me want to start a cable, and internet company to help drive down prices, and increase the quality of service.
3 days of horrible. Service so far the wifi does not connect when it does it does nothing just says limited. Connection. Wanted to cancel service but was told would not get the connection fee back n would be charged for the days of service. We had what service nothing worked but the lady at the main building. Said we were using it cause her computer. Told her it anyways. Stay away from this company
Very spotty, support says call while you have a problem but service is intermittent. I am tired of the bi-weekly calls to have them reset the modem. Their answer is always that their equipment is fine that it must be the fault of all 3 devices I own. Constant failure to receive IP address messages and the need to re-inter password. If youre the only game in town you can act like it.
If you have any issues with your service, dont make plans for the day of your appointment and make sure to call repeatedly until the tech arrives. I had a minor issue and it took over a week for someone to come to my apartment and replace roughly 3 feet of cheap cable. They also do not give you a definite time the service tech will be out to you as they operate on a hilariously stupid route system.
Paying for 100GB and I get about 70 and as little as 12 down. Service is terrible.
Ive had a technician come to my house at least once every two or three months because I pay for 50 mbps and only get roughly around 20-26mbps, everytime the tech comes out my speed increases but you give it a couple if days and boom speed is back around the 25mbps range. Very unsatisfactory, I come from Austin TX moved to Stephenville almost a year ago, being in Austin with all the people there on the same internet line as about a hundred other in my used to be housing area it never once strayed from 50mbps. What a sorry excuse for internet service. But the technicians are always nice and helpful still tired of northland. Thinking about switching to century link but Ive been told by many of my customers that there garbage too. Very tired of calling and scheduling appointments to speed my internet back up. Guess its gonna happen again.
I have to call every week or i get a fraction of what i pay for this is a terrible company do not use them.Update: can i go lower than 1 star? I had to wait at least a week this last time maybe a week and a half to even get a tech out to service well well well they will be here between 8 and 12 welp guess who didnt show up.
They now have fiber in Stephenville!
Ive only had this service for about a week and it hasnt worked a single day during this time. Ive called, emailed, you name it, but have yet to receive the help I need. I originally was going to go with 18mbps but was suggested by an employee of Northland to go with the 24mbps plan, so I did. My two-year-old daughter and I are the only ones in our home, so it isnt like were bogging down the Internet or anything. I cant stream movies, play online games or completely load a webpage. My phone wont even stay connected and I have to constantly switch off my WiFi and use data if I want to do anything. Really wish I had read reviews before choosing, but from what Ive seen, there arent many options anyway. Such a shame. When I called their tech support, the lady was not helpful and ended up being quite rude; she wouldnt listen to my problems at all and kept repeating herself. Emailed them yesterday but havent heard back yet. Im very frustrated that Ive already paid for a week of service, but havent been able to properly use anything. Its like Im paying to not have Internet. Crazy. Wish I could just get some straight answers and help.
DOESNT EVEN DESERVE 1 STAR!The manager at this locations is beyond a joke. Worst customer service I have ever received. The Internet speed sucks. I was spoken down to and disrespected, because my Internet is not working! The speed test we did, while on the phone was an embarrassing 1.33 Mbps download speed and 1.68 Mbps Upload speed. DO NOT waste your time and MONEY on this service provider.
Very bad company to deal with! I pay $90/month for 20mbps download and I only receive 3-5mbps. They always try to give me the run around when I call and try to make things right. Customer service is terrible and the people that work there are very rude. Highly advise not choosing this company, it has only been a nightmare for me. Take your money elsewhere.
I had a wonderful experience with Northland. Fast internet at a great price and excellent customer service
This Is the single worst internet company I have ever has the displeasure of dealing with. There service is expensive, slow, and cuts out all the time for no reason. Do not use this company.
I have tried for weeks to get them to come to my apartment and put in another cable outlet. Every time I talk to them its a different story. Very unfriendly customer service. I was told by the customer service rep that they just cant keep sending trucks out to me but I am only aware of one truck coming out to my place and that tech barely spoke to me. Very rude! I asked the customer service rep: what about customer service? Isnt that important? Abysmal. I wish my town had more options because i would drop them like a hot potato.
I hope they go bankrupt. I kid you not. You can not Get in contact with them to save your life and every month they try to charge you more money without saying anything. Pathetic waste of a company
Their website says, Enjoy everything on the internet reallycrazysuperfast. but i havent been able to enjoy anything remotely close to fast. I pay too much for, Excellent top notch downloading speed, as described on the phone, for 3.2 mbps speed around the clock.
Got the 24 mb service is working great and the guy who came out was awesome
I am so frustrated with this internet. Honestly, I havent experienced this sort of terrible internet service ever. When I called them, the response was that you are receiving the speed that you were supposed to- The speed that takes 15 minutes to open a webpage? Will cancel the service immediately !!!
I have internet with them works great
I would give a ZERO if I could. The support sucks, the billing sucks and Northland pretty much just sucks. How I know is because the internet and cable drops out so often you have to call them about 3 times a month and deal with the incompetency for days to get anything to work. They have the worst organization Ive ever come across for Customer Service, where they dont allow you to speak with the local office and instead have to suffer the pain of their poor phone support who have great difficulty even pulling up your account and have even worse retard issues transferring you to the correct partys, which sucks you into the abyss of Northland.I hope to change carriers asap. August to October 2015Dropped Internet - 16 timesDropped cable- 4 timesModem resets required - 45 times (usually doesnt work)Average downtime each occurrence 3 days.
I have never had consistent internet through this company. HOWEVER, it is still better than the ONLY other option. Most recently, I had to wait over a week to get a technician to come replace my router. Took him 10 minutes. Waited over a week! Now I have internet again, crappy, but $55 a month, I can check my email at best. It is intermittent, some days doesnt work all day, some days its ok for the most part. I cant even check my internet speed through Ookla at the moment because it times out.
Horrible service and cost. They would just send you a bill higher and higher over time for the same service, and internet speed was barely OK. Why cant Stephenville have a better service provider?
Terrible, terrible, terrible. Cheap. But terrible. The cable is fine, but the internet is the worst ever. It is slow and is constantly telling me that I dont have internet available. I had to refresh my page 4 times for me to even write a review. Go somewhere else, dont waste your time.
Absolutely awful. So apparently my house (built in 1940) isnt wired for cable. So they had to run external cables. Jeff, the man that came out to set it up, told me the first room would be free and the other 2 would be $45 a piece. So $90 total. I called my landlord and was told I would be reimbursed so to do it. I paid Jeff cash. On my receipt I needed to be reimbursed, the $90 was not on there, as if he didnt do it and just pocketed the cash. He ran the wires and didnt ask what room I wanted the router. So it is in the living room and the signal doesnt reach to any of the bedrooms, where we are most of the time. I called 2 days after to ask about moving my routers do about Jeff to see if he pocketed that money and I could get an accurate receipt. Tech support was of no help and said theyd charge me to have someone out there, but that I could go to staples and buy a wifi extender for $30. Try like $65. So at this point, Ive paid $112 for set up, plus $90 for the external cables, plus $65 for a wifi extender. Then, yesterday, I get an $80 bill for the first month after having internet for about a week!! What?!? I call and they were extremely rude. They told me their billing is a month in advance. I asked about Jeff again and they said they have record of me calling, and will transfer me to a different department (all sounding extremely annoyed) then when I was being transferred they hung up on me!! Will use until my lease is up then never again.
They have bad service. The internet drops to many times and they take their sweet time to help the customer.
Northland in Stephenville is terrible. Wifi was disconnected when I shouldnt have been. I paid $300 that day and went without any internet for a week because they couldnt get anyone out to service it AFTER THEIR MISTAKE DISCONNECTING IT. Talking to customer service was terrible, very rude. All I asked for a better communication and a heads up when the tech guy would be there but instead he called 15 mins before he showed up at my door.
The apratment i moved into comes with free wifi at 6mbs... and with 4 people thats literally nothing. Their upgrade package is a joke too, for 30 dollars a month you get 24. AND thats if the internet decides to work with you. Customer service could care less and you never speak to someone locally. This internet provider does not deserve to be in business. If I wasnt roped into it, id drop them immediately. Do not sign up with them if you have the option.
If I could leave less than one star, I would. DONT USE NORTHLAND IN STEPHENVILLE. They unhooked my internet at the road by accident and said I had to wait a week to have a service truck come out and rehook it. Tech Support thought it might be the router; had me change it out at the location in Stephenville. When I did so, a woman in the office called and berated the tech support department for telling me I could do that. The new router/modem combo I got that day wont reach my entire ONE BEDROOM house. Tried to get an appointment for a month to get a new modem ... nothing. I cancelled service. I was so happy to see they dont even have 2 stars on Google. I figured Id help keep the stars down.
I paid for the fight early. Still missed it! Customer service wouldnt even answer my phone calls.... If you are moving here get dish or direct tv. They are the worst, cable always goes out..
Im paying for 24mbps which is 3MB per second and i rarely get a quarter of that. Most days (if the internet is even working) im not able to watch netflix or youtube. I built a $1500 computer to play games online and its virtually impossible to do so without some extreme lag or losing connection. Stay away and go with Charter!!
Slowest internet Ive ever seen. Ive had to call 10 times just this year. And for some reason our bill just went up as well... all I can say is save your money!
Trust me if there was a way to give Zero Stars, I would, Trottling exists. and this backwater hick internet provider is a Culpret of it
Absolutely terrible customer service. Takes 3 days to fix the connection any time it goes out and the always try to blame it on you. The call center people are rude and theres no way to directly contact the local office without going up there in person. Call center says they send a claim to local office but no one ever calls you back. Its very upsetting that this is basically the only option in Stephenville.
After Centurylink failed us miserably (promised 80Mbps; delivered under 10) we thought wed give Northland a try. After a month of service were not impressed. They promise up to 25Mbps, but the fastest Ive ever had it was 14Mbps, with 4 or 5 being the average. Why cant Stephenville have a modern internet company? Seriously.
Northland is the absolute worst ISP I have ever had the misfortune to deal with. Their download speeds are abysmal and come with practically zero upload speed. You rarely will get what you pay for, and its extremely unreliable. Avoid them like the plague.
Fiber is all over Stephenville and Dublin now!
Worst one! They keep raising every 3 months. Annoying.
Fast service
YOU STINK! I hate that i have to use your company but i only have 2 options in this town for internet, and the other option is just as bad.
Much better than CenturyLink!!!
Very poor service for being such a demand internet is worth two pennies, sad to say we pay top dollars for a very poor service we have no choice for now
If there were other options I would switch. Not worth it if it was free. Literally worst internet Ive ever used.
Im a current subscriber since August 15, the internet modem cuts off once or twice a month.
Friendly staff.
Had service for 3 days so far in the WiFi is horrible cant connect when it does all it does is load my phone Internet is faster then this I wish we could get charter here very unhappy paying for nothing
OK.
Good but expensive
