Customer service and staff are amazing and work was exceptional. Returned to Steamboat to visit my parents and had the driver side wheel hub go bad. They got me in the same day and began repairs within 20 minutes. Price was beyond reasonable and I could not be more thankful to Chase and the rest of the crew at Auto Service Center.
I generally have had good experiences here, but today that was not the case. Brought my truck in for a oil change and tire rotation. When I went to pay, the gentlemen processing my payment noticed the technician noted that 8 quarts of oil were used for my car. This raised concern for him and for me. He went to check with the technician who confirmed he had put 8 quarts of oil in my 4.0L v6 engine. They brought my truck back in, drained oil out of it and comped the tire rotation. After all of this, when I got back in my truck the tire pressure light was on. Wanting to be done with the experience I paid $.50 to use the coin operated air compressor outside the shop and in doing so noticed that all four tires were below the recommended PSI. As I was filling the tires up, the employee who had done my oil change came out and argued with me about the air pressure telling me that (their) air compressor I was using was wrong and that he had inflated my tires correctly, despite the sensor light in my car being on. This coming from the same guy that just put 8 quarts of oil in my car.Im giving this experience two stars instead of one because of the employee in the office processing the payment noticed that the information reported by the technician didnt look right and said something. If he had not done so I would likely would have had some pretty serious engine damage.
They were closing at noon that day, so they told me to drop my car off at 8 a.m. The guy at the reception is very nice and welcoming. After 45 minutes, I received a text from them with a quick inspection of my car, which I found helpful. Five minutes after the text, I got a call that I can pick up my car! The price isnt too expensive, and they were quick and efficient. Will be going back there!
Single mom traveling with my 10 year old and my car broke down 20 hours from home. I had my car towed here bc they said they could look at it same day. They called to tell me that before they could diagnose why it stopped working while I was driving that I needed a new starter motor replacement and quoted me over $800. I told him I would call him back. I checked with 3 other providers with prices 35%-45% below what I was quoted for the exact same parts and service. I called back to tell him no thank you and that I had a tow truck coming to get it, asked what I owed for having it looked at.... A man named Scott said $150 (which seems a bit high to me but I didn’t complain). He was extremely rude, wanted to know what the problem was and why I was having it taken somewhere else and he hung up on me after I gave him my payment info. I’m still shocked at how he spoke to me.Then I got a call from the auto shop that picked it up for me. They put it up on the rack when they got back with it. Upon inspection, my starter and my engine cover are missing. So now I have to worry with getting those back from a man who I am honestly extremely uncomfortable seeing in person and on top of that, the shop it’s at now was able to assess and tell within minutes that my engine is the main problem. I’m not saying that there isn’t a problem with the starter but I feel like if I would have left it here I would have paid for that and then they would have turned around and said after the fact looks like you need a new engine too. This has just been a terrible experience all around. I would never recommend this place to anyone. Definitely not a good representation of what seems to otherwise be a nice town.
Scott was very helpful with questions, and Bobby is a fantastic mechanic. Loved the text system outlining all of the car issues. Thanks guys!
Great service and communication. These guys were fast, fair and honest. Would highly recommend.
Mechanic was honest, straight forward and very helpful!!! Thank you:)
Received a quick and convenient oil change. Great service, detailed report on vehicle.
Communication was great and they were up front about everything. Told me cost ahead of time and my cars air conditioning was fixed in a few hours! It did seem kinda pricy, but I didn’t go to any other places in town for an estimate. Everyone I talked to was nice and getting my car fixed was easy
Great communication and professionalism. Very timely and detailed. Thank you!
Scott is as professional as they come and super nice! I would recommend him to anyone that needs an all around badass from start to finish with your vehicle!
Super helpful guys! After trying to diagnose a issue for a month and taking my Isuzu to a different shop. These guys found all the little issues taking pictures of everything and sharing with me why what needed to be fixed. They replaced my clutch, water pump, and fixed various oil leaks for the same price the other shop was only going to fix the clutch for. I highly recommend these guys. They were super kind when I would check in on my car as well!
A previously impossible to solve problem was located and repaired. Amazing. Thank you.
The folks here were knowledgeable and did what they said they would do.
They couldn’t recreate the stall and without any trouble codes, could not fix. But over charged for dianogstics Did not complete the bulb replacement. Went back several days later and they lied about the replacement effort so per Doc’s Automotive I went to Napa Autoparfs who did it for free. Service Center quoted me $120 plus the bulb!
Scott was friendly and helpful, I will use this shop again.
Good experience. Got itDone quickly
I came to Yelp to write the review because there are a lot of negative reviews here, and I thought Id share a different experience. My truck broke down about 20 miles from town and I called a few shops in town who all said they couldnt get to it for weeks. I talked to Scott and he said he could take a look for diagnosis that day and to call Chucks towing. They towed us in and these guys took a look at it the same day like they said they would. Told me it was a busted shock and they also found 6 or so other things that were wrong with the truck that should be addressed. The thing is, I already knew about the other things and I didnt tell them. They were just telling me what I already knew, but it confirmed that these dudes were on the level and not trying to fleece me (which is always a concern with new shops). They said they needed parts and theyd be there in a day then itd be ready the next evening. Scott sounded a little irritable on the phone, but to be fair I was bugging him multiple times just to confirm what he had already told me, so I probably wouldve been irritable, too. Anyway, they gave me a quote to fix all the things that was super reasonable (like $2K under dealer), and they fixed it all in exactly the time frame they said (actually a few hours early). In short, I think I understand what people mean when they say these guys are rude, because theyre pretty direct and not overly forthcoming with details, but they answered all of my questions, fixed the vehicle on time in a super short window for less than the dealership, and did a bang up job on all of the above. Theyre professionals, which I really respect, but if youre looking to make a new friend, perhaps go to a local bar or something rather than an auto shop in a ski resort town who are busy as hell. Hands-down one of the best emergency repairs Ive ever had done and Id highly recommend them.
On the way from Denver to Steamboat a tire blew on my rental car. On Thursday morning I dropped off the rim with the damaged tire. Scott told me that he would call me with an update. Of course that never happened. I called him around 3 pm and was told that tire was not fixable. He suggested that he order a new tire which I approved. The new tire would arrive on Friday by noon. I told him that I would come by around 3 pm to get the rim with the tire installed. When I arrived at 3 pm Scott told me that the tire was not ready because they were so busy. I was not happy and made that clear. He told me that Steamboat is not a major city and has only five places to repair tires. I told him that I most likely picked the worst which he did not like.He told me to come back at 5 pm to get the rim with the tire installed. I told him that I would be back by 4:30 pm. While driving to the shop I got a phone call from Scott telling me that the tire was ready. When I arrived Scott told me that he doesn’t have anybody at the shop to install the rim on my car. A guy rolled the tire out of the shop, got into his truck and disappeared immediately. So it was up to me to install the tire (while Scott was doing something in his office.I have never experienced a service that bad. I don’t understand how people give him a good rating. Maybe they are his local buddies.
The Auto Service Center always goes the extra mile, they are a wonderful local business and add value to our community. They are always professional, clear, and do a great job.
Did not enjoy my experience here, a friend recommended them because they are the only shop in town that can work on my Ford E450 Shuttle Bus. Scott had a very bad attitude with me, and I was quoted almost $2,000 to flush the transmission fluid and change the spark plugs. When I denied his service due to the price he then charged me $250 for the quote that was given. Jiffy Lube recommended I put a conditioner in my transmission fluid and I bought 8 spark plugs at Napa for $34 and a buddy changed them within ONE HOUR! The shuttle is running great, and it didn’t cost me an arm and a leg. I DO NOT RECOMMEND
Great experience! They worked me in the next day. Looking for an oil leak. Found none. Checked the entire car. Excellent service and pricing. Couldn’t be more pleased. They will be my repair shop from now on.
Always treat me as if I am their most valuable customer. Great service and done when promised. My go to for car service.
Very wonderful and fast thank you
Ive enjoyed thourough service with my car here, twice before. First a pre-buy inspection, secondly a tuneup almost $700 worth of labor and they managed to give my car back with the dashboard lit up!!! youd think someone would catch the fact that they didnt clear my dash of the lights... a simple inconvenience that shouldnt of happened. They do have an awesome text notification system!
While driving from Iowa to California my drive shaft broke. I was stranded in Steamboat Springs. I called Automotive Service Center and Scott searched extensively for the parts and he back on the road in no time at all. Very happy with the experience. Thanks Scott, made it home.
I was worried about the brakes on my daughter’s car after driving into town from Denver. I spoke with Austin on the phone who was very polite, professional and helpful. He told me I could bring the car in right away. The folks at Auto Service Center are very efficient! They inspected the brakes and assured us they were safe. Great place!
Its always painful to drop an unanticipated amount of money on your car. But I guess if it has to be done, its best to be done by someone who seems genuine, and Austin was that. So thank you. I appreciate your service, even though Id rather not have had to have it.
I was on vacation in Wyoming when I noticed a slight rattle when I drove at low RPM, that went away once above 2500RPM. By the time I got to steamboat, it had gotten bad enough that I decided to take it in on Wednesday 9/9. They said they run full diagnostics, and because I’d rolled over my oil change mileage by a few hundred miles, I asked for an oil change. The person who did the intake called back and told me to come in to tell me what was going on, he wouldn’t tell me over the phone. When I arrived, he said that the engine had run so low on oil, I’d permanently damaged the engine and that they’d need to rebuild it on a new engine block for $6,300. This was surprising. He told me it was a bad idea to try and drive back to Boulder because I could break down or further damage some of the parts he’d intend to use on the rebuild. When I told him I’d try that anyways, because I couldn’t really afford the rebuild cost not justify it on a car that’s nearly 9 years old, he tried to negotiate the price down by $500, which I found both annoying and suspect. I drove the car home to Boulder (165 miles) the next day and the car was absolutely fine. The rattling got much much quieter. I drove it again on Saturday 9/12 with no issue, and then on Monday 9/14 I took the car to my trusted mechanic and he found NOTHING wrong with the engine. They diagnosed the rattling issue as a problem with the heat shield.I can’t begin to express how mad and disappointed I am that they’d try to con me into a new engine rebuild. Even worse, I believed him for a while and really put a damper on the rest of my vacation. DO NOT RECOMMEND.
Had a bad tire problem on my way to work Monday morning, I stopped in when I got to steamboat, they had the tires in Tuesday morning and got them changed for me. Thanks guys you saved me in a pinch!
The owner was very friendly He gave me names of someone to help with my RV
Over priced tire repair. $43.00 to fix a tire, only in Steamboat.
This shop does the right thing when presented with a misunderstanding. We did not agree on the price but they made it right. I would use them again.
Stopped in for an emergency battery check while on vacation. The guys at the shop did everything they could to help immediately and got my car back in working order in less than an hour. Best customer service anyone could ask for and Id recommend them in a heartbeat.
Great customer service. I was in in out in about 15 min.
Highly recommend this place. They worked me in for some emergency service while on a short visit to town, in spite of their full schedule. Work was done quickly, done well, and the price was reasonable. Much appreciated!
Great place. We were driving through town and had to get our car looked at. It was 30 minutes to close but they were still willing to take a look at it and do what they could. Excellent service
They were very polite. We had just got into town and we’re in a hurry. They thankfully got us in and ready to go in just a couple hours. Quick service, not a bad price, super great overall.
Scott is a straight shooter. Such a nice guy. They do the work in the timeframe suggested or better. They communicate above and beyond just what they are doing. We have used them for 3 vehicles and will continue to do so. We have twice brought in different vehicles thinking there was to be a big fix and they have done just a small quick cheap fix that was all that was needed — that makes you really trust them....to be honest. We are fans. We appreciate having a trusty shop to do what we cannot do ourselves.
Was road tripping from out of town with my van conversion and needed help with my trailer hitch as it was bent and I was fearful what I was pulling would come loose because of it. Stopped in steamboat and found this mechanic. Chase was super friendly and stopped what he was doing to assist. He used a rachet to help straighten things out with the hitch and got me back on the road in under 15 minutes! He even told me what does tools I would need of my own in order to adjust the hitch in the future. Very professional, on point, and kind! Thank you Chase!
We have a large fleet of vehicles for a local property management company. I can always count on ASC to make room for us & get the job done. They are extremely accommodating & play a vital role in keeping us up & running. We appreciate Automotive Service Center!
This is my go-to shop in Steamboat. The manager Scott seems to have the customers best interests in mind.
Stopped in when my check engine light went on. Awesome guy immediately hooked my car up to check the code. Was honest it was nothing major. Fixed it and sent me on my way without charge in less than 5 minutes. Good humans are still out there!
Had an emergency with a flat tire and they helped me out! Super nice and very professional. Great job!
They handled a difficult situation with ease
They got me in right away. Did a great job checking things out. The truck feels great now!
Well long story short brought my car here for a tuff job. They made it worse.Scott did not want to take any responsibility for wasting my time (three days)and money. If you have a 04 Toyota or Subaru it might come out allright . typical stinkboat. Update the so called autocenter is being sued more damage found.Update out of business.
Scott and his team always provide excellent service. The remodeled customer service area looks great.
My friends and I were 1,200 miles from home, exploring the mountains of Colorado through very rough terrain when my truck started experiencing a violent vibration at highway speeds. Faced with the possibility of a catastrophic failure keeping us from getting home, we stopped at the first maintenance shop we could find - the Auto Service Center of Steamboat Springs. My family works in the auto repair business - I knew that the prospects of a same-day, quick fix were dire. I explained my situation to Scott at the front desk and he immediately jumped into action. Three stressful hours later I had keys in hand - the bolts on my driveshaft that had disappeared somewhere over a forsaken rocky pass had been replaced. My friends and I could hit the highway and go home knowing my truck wasnt going to explode somewhere in the middle the Oregon desert. The price of the procedure was minuscule compared to the amount of relief this shop provided me and my crew. A million thanks to Scott and the techs at this shop for getting us home.
Knowledgeable and timely, would use again
Needed a new fuel pump. While they got me out the door in a timely fashion, they didnt replace the fuel filter which should have been SOP. 27 days later had to have the same job redone after a bumpy ride on gravel road. New mechanic showed me all the sludge in filter. Should have thoroughly cleaned gas tank before reassembly. NAPA fuel pump had failed (covered by warranty). Labor charge in Farmington, NM was much less than Steamboat Springs, CO
Friendly staff, got me in quick. Unfortunately sold me into breaks saying my car was in good shape otherwise. Got an oil change and breaks for 850$, made it 18 miles before my car was smoking, coolant container exploded, oil was blown all over my engine and engine was totaled. 200$ more for a tow and 300$ for a one way rental car home. So basically 1400$ I sent down the drain for 18 miles that could have been used on a new car. Either they missed something huge in their diagnostic or screwed something up. Definitely didnt need breaks for that 18 miles though.
The folks at Auto Service Center are incredible. Scott is a fantastic person in the office, and Austin is a great operations manager. The level of service that I received was professional and courteous to the max. I highly recommend these guys, and I will definitely be returning.
These guys are great! Always honest in what works needs to be done and accommodating to my schedule, their excellent customer service goes a long way.
I booked in late minute due to a nail in our tire. Very professional welcome, they explained how they would check if it was repairable, booked in and fixed very quickly.
Fast and friendly service. Charged $325 in labor for a wheel bearing and hub swap, 2 hr job, seemed a bit steep but they let me supply parts so that was cool. I was a bit puzzled when I was told that they dont have an hourly rate for labor. That’s not typical...
Completely AMAZING experience! Super nice people working there! I only went in for a tire change, and they found a couple of minor issues with my brakes, and fixed these minor issues on the fly!! They even showed me what was going on and let me be a part of the process! Ever since Ive driven off their lot my car has been cruising like a CHAMP!! Im definitely going here from now on for all of my mechanic needs!
We had a mechanical problem as we were just coming into town. They quickly diagnosed the problem and repaired the problem quickly. Dave the mechanic explained the problem and how to best perform the repair. Scott suggested a place where we could stay that would take our dog. This shop is very professional and I would recommend them for any service and repairs.
I needed help replacing a flat tire, they had me back on the road in 15 minutes. Very fast and professional. Thank you!
They are always helpful and friendly. I know my vehicle will be well taken care of here.
Always a great experience with Scott and the team. I am and will continue to be a loyal customer at Automotive Service Center.
I am so impressed with the work of Automotive Service Center. Scott was amazing - super helpful and efficient. They got my car right in and had it fixed in 48 hours. This was the third shop in town I had been to and by far, these guys were the best.
Super nice guy, worked fast, and for an affordable cost! We were pulling out of Steamboat after our ski trip and our check engine light turned on and he had our ignition coil ordered and fixed within 2 hours so we were still able to be on our way within a reasonable amount of time. Thank you for your help and your friendliness Scott!
Bummed out that I was charged a $70 diagnosis fee, but wasn’t given a diagnosis. They told me I needed to take it to the dealer. I’m a local carpenter and am trying to picture myself going to a potential clients’ house and then telling them that they need to call another carpenter. “That will be $70 for your diagnosis. “ it would be one thing if they actually gave me a diagnosis, like, bad transmission, or faulty sensor. But there was no diagnosis. Just a fee. As a local, I won’t be recommending or returning.
These guys checked out my car and told me there was no problem. Thats an honest shop! I was told to replace my brakes by another shop, so I went Automotive service Center and they pointed out that I still had a lot of Life on my brake pads.
I was pretty blown away by how much they were able to find on the inspection, and how quickly they were able to do the work and finish the job. Ive never seen that kind of automotive efficiency in town before.
Scott got my car in right away. He was honest and upfront about the work needed to be done on my car and was reasonably priced. They did a great job and I would definitely go back to them again.
These guys are awesome! Always so quick to turn around, friendly, and very fair pricing. Highly recommend!
Austin and his team are 10 stars! The service and quality is unmatched in this town. Would definitely recommend again!
Efficient, accurate, worked with us as our schedule changed. Will definitely use them in gathering future.ThanksFred Garrison
Promptly fixed my vehicle under their estimated price. Honest mechanics fair price good work they have all my business
These guys were very professional and were very good at keeping their masks on for Covid.
Very honest and timely. I would highly recommend them!
Super dependable. Very affordable and fair. Great local business.
Always get a written bid, prior to work. Made appointment with Nate on Friday for on Monday after he told me full synthetic oil change would be $80-90. When I picked up car bill was $120. I don’t plan to ever go back. We
Having a breakdown on a road trip is never fun, we had our truck fixed and we’re on our way straight away, and overall great experience
Outstanding service. Outstanding timeliness. Won’t go anywhere else. Thank you Scott.
I have been taking my car here for 6 years! Great service center!
This shop is awesome! I bring my vehicles here every time I need anything done. They handle my needs in a timely manner AND are very communicative on the status of my vehicles. No doubt the best customer service around. Thanks guys!
Car Service was great! Front desk person was about the most unfriendly person Ive ever met!!
I called Auto Service Center on a Friday morning for an emergency brake replacement so I wouldnt be stranded in Steamboat until the following Monday and they fit me in and got the work done in one day. I highly recommend them and have sent their contact information to friends in the area.
Excellent service.
Great service, super friendly and helpful. Great price too!
Scott and the guys are friendly, helpful and do good work. They only recommend what you need for your car, and don’t try to sell a bunch of extra work for every little thing.
Always professional and on-time with appointments, and willing to answer any questions I have. Never pushy!
Took many trips in for them to fix a very simple problem. Then they tried to tell me I would need another grand in repairs for something that was completely fine (took to another, reputable shop to verify). Any work that they were actually able to finish was sloppy and left my car full of grease. They likely wont call to let you know when your vehicle is finished and will usually take longer than expected.
Absolutely wonderful. Was referred by a neighbor. Helped me with multiple problems finding the lowest price they could. This is the only place I will go. They are very trustworthy and tell you everything you need to know.
Great service great people I will definitely go back here.
Had tried multiple different locations to get snow tires put on. Called in and they had a cancellation and worked me in. The Auto Service Center was a life saver. Recommend without reservation!!Nathan
I have been going here for years and always have great service!!
Excellent work. Honest people to do business with.
Was in Steamboat visiting family 4th of July week. On the way Volvo XC70 had significant brake issue. Scotty got us on the schedule, diagnosed problem the same day, and and had the car ready to go the next business day. Estimate and final cost were accurate and overall cost was reasonable for the work done. Scotty took time to explain the problem and the work done. Highly recommended.
These guys have been my mechanics since 2001and Ive never had a negative experience. In fact, they have saved me big $$ when assuming a big repair only to have them tell me a vacuum hose came off ($25), or just a rock caught in wheel (no charge).
While on a road trip through Colorado, my car started flashing a check engine warning. All the repair shops in Steamboat Springs were very busy and I was told I’d have to wait at least 1 week and maybe longer before anyone would have a chance to look at my car. The first symptoms indicated a blown head gasket. Since I couldn’t afford to stick around Steamboat, as pleasant as it is, I started looking for a shop that could at least flush and drain my cooling system and put some stop leak in the radiator. I had the good luck of finding Automotive Service Center and after a talk on the phone with the Manager, he agreed to perform this service for me even though he didn’t think it would really help. The next day I was on the road and carefully monitored my temperature gauge and cooling water level. I did have to add water a few times and managed to safely return to Seattle. My local shop worked me in and had the problem corrected in less than 24 hours. Even though Automotive Service Center had numerous opportunities to charge me a fortune, they never attempted it and managed to get me back on the road for less than a full hours shop rate. My thanks to them cannot be fully expressed here.
Dont leave a message, they dont call back.
Everything went as planned
Fast and good work!
I have been to ASC over the past couple of days and have talked with Scott who works there. I needed some tires mounted an balanced. the first day I was there he mounted the tires did not balance them, broke a stud charged me 1/2 hour labor for a stud. drove out car was shaking horrible at 30 mph. did notice that some lugs were not seated into the rim prolly some of the shaking. called back 5 min later made another app for the following day to have tires balanced. asked for a balance and possible an alignment. Dropped car off came back 4 hours later when it was ready, Mechanic busted 2 more studs, didnt replace, but when I asked Scott if they drove the car he said yes. immediately the car started shaking again, someone behind me notified me that one of my tires was shaking, again the mechanic did not seat the nuts correctly. Drove to a different shop. this was the last time I spent money at ASC, 137 bucks for mounting, replace a stud, and dispose of 3 tires, next day 48 bucks for balancing i guess but the mechanic never drove the vehicle as Scott said he did because the vehicle was still shaking horribly, scott’s attitude was pretty bad once he realized he couldnt sell me on a new set of tires. Update took to another shop in steamboat, they notified me that the he rims were the wrong size and would not fit on my car. The tech at asc was not even aware of this just seems like asc uses inexperienced techs to do the job, total stipidity!!!!!
Tony, Dennis and the rest of the crew have always been helpful, honest and good rates. I have been going there for years for many different issues on multiple cars. I would definitely recommend them to anyone.
Had a small repair and they didn’t even charge me!
