I am a current student at RSM. I would say that the school should give longer breaks during class, and especially between classes(back to back classes are grueling). The homework, at times, can be much, and is difficult(its even harder if you do a competitive sport) However, RSM has indeed improved my math skills- I managed to move up a Math course in school thanks to it.
Funny that the negative reviews complain about short breaks and homework. If you want your kid to have a good time, let him/her stay home and play computer games. If you want your kids to succeed, get them into a solid program. We’ve attended for several years and the results are great. He doesn’t like it. But his test results love it. Also, seeing a lot of private school bumper stickers in the parking lot, interesting...
This has been a very positive experience for our two girls. It is an investment of time and money but we believe that a childs brain is optimized to deeply learn math skills at a young age. Our girls are very happy here.
Simply an exceptional program in Math. My kids love it and it helped them to excel at Math. I would highly recommend for anyone that likes math. Teachers are great. School communicates well with parents and online homework portal is a great addition.
Stamford RSM led by Chris Green is the best math school EVER. IMHO. Why? Because kids love it and always WANT to go. To me, getting children to love math lessons is a big feat.
My daughter came one day, when they went to the classes in person and she had a mental break down. She said that they only gave her a 10 minute break and it was horrible and really hard to concentrate. They made her do a problem on the board and she didnt like having to do one IN FRONT OF the class, would not recommend. Also I see alot of parents writing the reviews, the kids are the one doing it let them write there one reviews let them have a voice.
I am really disappointed with RSM. The rooms are so small. RSM puts way too many people in my geometry room. It is a 231 square foot classroom. This area includes the teachers desk and the large spaces in front of the whiteboard and going down the center of the room. It can get very crowded. Also, the teachers give me a 10 minute break. Studies have shown that kids and adults need an active break every 90 minutes, or they will have a harder time focusing in class. I do not get an active break for 3 hours. In the 10 minute break, I can only sit and talk quietly, or I can watch people play games since I do not have my own phone. The breaks need to be longer and more active. The only good thing about RSM is that I learn things.Parents who are thinking about enrolling your kids in RSM - DO NOT. RSM is horrible and it will drain your bank account.P.S. - Parents, how about having your kid write a review? I bet they dont like it and would give it a 1 star. It seems like the parents who write the reviews give it a 5 star rating, and the kids who write the reviews give it a lower rating. Remember that the kids are the ones who attend RSM, not the parents. ;)
I think that RSM, Russian School of Math, could be better. One reason is that during the ten minute break, you can barely do anything. It is multiple hours, and the teachers barely give a break. Studies have proven that after ninety minutes, kids - and even adults - have a harder time focusing. This is why RSM should give a better and longer break. Another reason is that everything you learn in RSM is also stuff you will learn later. For example, in fourth grade, in RSM, our teacher taught us how to multiply decimals, but, I learned it again in fifth grade. RSM makes math in school very boring for me, as I already know it. Also, the Homework in Algebra usually has about 50+ problems. The homework takes forever to do, especially if you have other activities to do like sports. RSM can be good though, because it helps me learn things that in school, I wont learn for another three years. Lastly, because of RSM, I am doing really hard math.
Horrible program, awful, so bad, would never recomend, its horrible, they dont even speak english
The conditions are terrible they give you 10 minute breaks over a span of 3 hours. They give an awful lot of homework which severely stresses out the kids. Horrible and would never recommend coming here
This program is very helpful for me
Exelant program. My kids learn and enjoy it
