Ive worked here for a year and a half. So many great changes are being made. This hospital really takes care of patients very well. Springfield Behavioral hospital really cares about the staff and Patient care. I am proud to be with this company. Im excited for the future of this hospital. I would recommend this place for future patients and future staff to work at
My child was here for less than a week and didnt get any help whatsoever. They made such a dramatic report that it is going to be hard for her to ever get help anywhere else. Because this Mental Health Hospital could not handle my my child with mental health disorders so they sent her home instead of trying to find other placement to help her.
The work environment here is wonderful. The staff are friendly and helpful. The nursing department has made so much improvement and is continuing to make a difference everyday. As a nurse, I feel supported and able to do my job to the best of my ability. Incredible place to work
Please do not take your child here. I took my daughter here after she had a mental health crisis. I was unhappy when they failed to answer the phone, provide updates on her progress, or return my calls. After I expressed my concerns, they informed me they would not allow me ANY contact with my child. They refused to release her to me even though there was no court order allowing them to withhold her. I had to call the police to get them to let my daughter out of the facility. Once she was home, my daughter made allarming disclosures about how she was treated. Please do not take your child here. If I want a persistent person who was willing to get the police involved I likely wouldnt have been able to free my daughter from here. It isnt safe. Parents should know that they ae willing to break the law and withhold your child if you question their facility.
I have worked here for 2 years. I have seen many changes but we are the most cohesive right now. It is a tough place to work, and challenging when dealing with troubled kids. I appreciate parents who give us the opportunity to try and turn around the lives of their loved ones.
As an employee, all I can say is that I love working here. The teamwork from the staff is well above average. We are all working to provide the best care possible for our patients, while working towards becoming the premier mental health provider in the Midwest.
I was a patient there... I need to go back but Stacey Cornelison kept hitting on me and saying if I needed xanax when I got out she gets bars from Dr. G and can hook me up as well as hook up with me. Im trying to get better but shes just trying to sleep around...
I am proud to be a part of an amazing team. My colleagues are supportive and a blast to be around. I know Perimeter will continue to grow and be a safe haven for children to blossom.
Great place to work. The CEO is outstanding and really cares about his employees. Management really understands and cares about staff and all the kiddos that come into Acute care.
I’ve been working here for two years and in that time I’ve learned a lot about myself and I’ve learned a lot about working with the kids in our facility. Perimeter Behavioral Hospital of Springfield operates to provide hope and transformation for patients and their families through compassionate, evidence-based care in a warm professional environment. This job has been the most rewarding job I’ve ever had. I enjoy working with the kids and helping them to interact in a more positive way when difficult situations arise.I encourage anyone who needs service’s to reach out and see how we can help you and your family.
I find it funny that most positive comments are coming from workers not patients or familys of paitents. As a parent im highly unsatistfied, my step son was even allowed to be moved to a female part because he was quote so out of control... he was able to make a girlfriend and brought a ring in that may or may not been allowed by staff that is a direct quote from the person in charge. Still he was released even after we begged them to keep him because of insurance....
Working for a company that is really helping the kids in our community, and surrounding, is so fulfilling. Its great being apart of a wonderful team.
Great place to work if you want to hear daily how appreciated and valued you are. Everyone is treated as a vital member of the team.
My step son was admitted for observation last Wednesday and we had to pick him up yesterday no dr ever spoke to my husband about what is going just put him on meds they did nothing to help him and he was suppose to stay 10 days he need a help and they did nothing at all and it took 3 phone calls to get his meds called into the pharmacy
Its a great place to work! Our staff is motivated and always working to do their best for our patients!
Great place for children to get help and start their lifes out on the right foot.
Take note:Every 5 star review is from staff! Not patients or parents! My child was diagnosed with Bi-Polar after her 1st 20min session with her Dr. The Dr did not seek information from us, my childs peers, or anyone else about changes in behavior, changes in social life, environmental factors or anything. My childs 1st night there they wanted to place her on 3 medications. 2 of which are known to increase thoughts of self harm in nearly every rct performed. Most staff is understanding with our concerns in regards to placing our child on these medications without first pursuing talk therapy and addressing the environmental factors. But my childs Dr. Insist upon administering these medications. Told me she would do whatever she needed to do to keep my daughter from coming home unmedicated.Said she would medicate without my consent but would prefer to do it with my consent. She forced me to allow her to medicate my child . it was the only way to get my child back. The Dr. Communicated to ny child private messages from to the Dr after the Dr sent me threatening messages. According to my child. The Dr told her she may have to go live with someone else for a while because of our reluctance to administer psychiatric medication. My child is depressed. My child is a preteen with raging hormones. My child has been apart from her peers for over a year. Taken out of school and sports. She was popular and athletic. She lost her grandma in the past year and lives in a house with shared family. My child is not Bi-Polar. She is depressed with reason. She needs therapy and an addressing of environmental factors. But this lady decided in the 1st 20 minutes that my child is bipolar and needs an array of medication. We have never had a problem with our child until we created one by pulling her out of school, sports, dragging her back and forth from dallas to see her grandfather who has cancer while her grandma was dying at home. Shes depressed because of the life I provided for the last year. Not because she needs drugs but this lady will not listen. Beware of Dr. Goowin and her 27yrs of practice. My child has been more depressed every time weve spoke to her or seen her. They do not get to see outside at all. It has a depressing feel to it in my opinion.Im not saying this place doesnt help children because Im sure it does... Just maybe not every child.I will right a follow up review if I feel things improve over time. Some nurses are understanding and compassionate while some are just doing the job and trying to rush through the day.I believe they probably get used to doing things a certain way for most children instead of really individualizing the approach to each child. Also, Dr definitely doesnt second guess herself. She makes up her mind and runs with it.She told me a lot of her reasoning was that my child reported not sleeping for a week at a time... Often... Problem is my daughter made that up. She sleeps well every night. She also referred to a motor vehicle collision that never happened. Also made up. She also referred to family history of bipolar disorder, problem being no one in my family has been diagnosed with this illness.I corrected her on all of this and she held true to her original 20min diagnosis.Do your research before consenting to this place .Edit: Day after review. The CEO reached out to me today and will be addressing ourconcerns.
The staff really care about the patients and families they get the opportunity to work with. This is a great place to work and grow where you can make a difference in peoples lives daily.
Great place for children and adolescents during a crisis with mental health. Adequate nursing staff, great providers, and wonderful food!
My son was in the hospital for over 2 weeks. He didnt even see a counselor until the last 3 days . I asked to speak to his psychiatrist at the hospital every day almost and they always told me he was busy . They stated he was seeing him everyday which he told me he only saw him twice. If I could rate them a 0 I would . They absolutely did nothing for my son who was sucidial . My son is not a out of control child his mental illness is less than ( point) 3% of the population, he was begging for help and hope the hospital would have helped him with his distress. We both felt like they did absolutely nothing, they didnt even attempt to try and help him. I recommend to NOT put your child in this facility.
This is a great place they helped me out soo much all of the staff took great care of me and helped me a lot of my problems
They do not care about your safety. HR will never return your calls and NO ONE has your back. If you do make the mistake of working here, please keep your head down, keep to yourself and wear a mouth guard because there is NO security and you WILL get injured. To add insult to injury, HR and management will tell you its no big deal and to get over it.
Great place to work and build your career. Patients and their families get the resources they need and the compassion and understanding of what they are going through. Great providers of help and hope.
They have helped my son through a lot and got him on the right path...
My daughter was not even in the hospital for 2 hours before the head of finance insisted we pay thousands and thousands of dollars before she is even evaluated. Before a length of time is given. Nothing! They only care about your money NOT your child! My daughter stated the staff told her they were nothing more then baby sisters. The dont have school times, no group therapies or daily counseling in general. She says you can not see the outside at all, the hospital in general is extermly depressing. You set in the same room all day and just do puzzles all day long.
I was a patient at this hospital and I have mixed emotions on it. Yes, the food was disgusting and not the best in the world. The beds were hard and I hardly slept while I was there. We couldnt go outside, but a few times was I allowed to see the outside and the sun which made me feel better. The staff was very friendly, kind, and treated me with respect. I always felt like I had someone there for me. We had games, coloring, and T.V. Therapy was incredible. Yes, some may have been boring, but they always helped me see the better side of things. They started me on a medication that was very much needed. This hospital helped me and I am grateful for it.

Great place to work. It is refreshing to see the staff work together as a team, with a heart for the youth they are caring for. This would definitely be my first choice for a family member.
Dr. Woody and Beckingham have been amazing. Very respectful and educated. Seem to have the children’s best interest at heart. However, some of the stuff and nurses appear to be under the influence. I have to call multiple times a day to get my child on the phone. The male staff gives me a weird vibe. Has an unusual liking to my child in particular. I was suppose to be notified of any labs ordered, or medicine changes and that’s not occurring. My child has been stuck 4 times in the last 24 hours. She’s wearing unit clothing when she has plenty of approved clothing I packed but the staff is just too lazy to get it. Basically keep saying they are working on getting her belongings. Its completely depressing and dark on the unit. How could any mental health patient benefit?Their food is all processed and microwaveable. They have no balance on medication stability. I totally feel as if this place is doing more damage than good. I’ll never let my child go back here. They have no clue what they are doing with these children, and as soon has my child is discharged I’ll be notifying the Board of Mental Health, because I am mandated by the state to report these types of things considering I’m a licensed foster parent.
Some staff kind. Call to get an update on my daughter most act like its bothersome. Dr Westin, was nothing but disrespectful and belittling on the phone. Would not recommend. Plus individual therapy is supposed to happen within 72 hours that did not, tried to blame on me. Do not send your loved ones.
Staff is great!
My child was there for 2 weeks after the initial call from the dr. I ask multiple times for the dr to contact me and nobody ever did. There were alot of issues my child called me multiple times begging to leave because of how terrible it was. One nurse was very rude when asking to give my child something to calm them down because i was asking questions about the drug and they didnt want to discuss it they just wanted permission. I felt like i had no rights as a parent and theres no communication with family even at discharge they just want you to sign so they can shove them out the door it really felt like they only care about the money.
Clean and friendly. Thank you all for helping my daughter.
My son went to their adolescent, I was told he would be there for no more than 5 days and he was discharged on his 12 day there. The prescribing doctor Weston would not listen to any of my concerns and continued to attempt to prescribe a medication I had denied twice due to side effect complications and his reports of a serious illness that was an isolated event that only occured during the care of Springfield behavioral, and has not occurred since. I was also told I would be given a minimum of a 24 hour notice of my sons discharge to allow for the two hour drive, I was told two hours before he to be discharged as they needed the bed space. They also decided to discharge him on a night with icy road conditions knowing he had a two hour commute and sent him home with no medications because theyre not that kind of facility. Due to weather compkications and theyre poor discharge planning my son went 24 hours without medications. They scheduled him follow up after care appointments I told them were not necessary because I had them scheduled. Gave them the doctors name, date and contact info. They even had him scheduled with a primary care provider appointment for a date and time he couldnt attend because he was still in their care. No way in hell would I ever allow my son to go to this facility again! Poor care, poor medication provider services, monetary driven facility, patient care is a last. Oh and dont forget the lice! Still waiting on his clothing due to this.
Unsafe working conditions. Staff are always in danger of getting hurt. Worst place I worked for in my entire nursing career
Great new facility for Springfield. We are in such need for more help in mental illnesses.
Great place with great staff, they seem to really care for their patients.
Was a contract worker there and cant get paid...had to file in court and have them subpoenaed...
Very few staff was nice there, and the food was disgusting and it didnt help me whatsoever because we were never allowed to go outside or see the outside.
My friend went here and her experience was horrible.
