This place is AMAZING!!!! They have everything you need for whatever sport or fitness activity you are into. On site spa, massage, dining and athletic attire shopping. Everything is always clean and well maintained. Not sure how I missed getting a picture of the pool but the pool is as fabulous as the rest of the facility. Something here for everyone in the family.
Id give The St. James a 5, if it werent for their after you sign on the dotted line service. The facility is clean, safe and there is something for everyone in your family. The hours are convenient. The on-floor staff is very nice and responsive; however, after the sale of our membership, I cant get anyone to call, email or respond otherwise when I need questions answered. We have tried for a month to get private baseball lesson scheduled for our son. I cant get anyone to call me regarding gymnastics, I never got a copy of our membership contract. Now I am stuck in a facility for 6 months that I can not utilize the way our family has intended and it has left a bad taste in my mouth....regardless of the water park or not.
AMAZING!!! Although you have to pay for everything separate, it was a great place to hang for the day. We did the splash park and the entertainment area this time. Was there all day, from 2-6. Well be trying some of the other stuff like the batting cage, basketball and golf. Maybe even look into a membership, because they have a spa that momma can take advantage of. A very sophisticated, state of the art rec center.
There was a car show with a dj & music. We did go in the inside but I didnt get any pictures unfortunately. It was very beautiful & clean. You will have to do a temperature check but it was very nice! 1st time going & Id definitely go again. Kays Donuts was there & OMG them Donuts was amazing. They where like funnel cake Donut holes lol
This place is great. I came for private adult swim lessons with Nancy B. and she is just absolutely phenomenal. Ive had swim lessons before and have snorkeled in a many oceans and Islands across the globe and just was never a great swimmer. After only my first 2 lessons with Nancy Ive had MAJOR improvements already. I have more scheduled with her and cant wait to finally become a strong swimmer!! Her techniques are just so on point, succinct, and shows immediate improvements. Shes patient, understanding, and can read your body type and adjust for what works for you as an individual. I cant say enough how amazing their swim program is and their instructors. 10 stars for Nancy and The St. James!!!
If you’re looking for an amazing gym and are willing to pay for it, then you’ll find yourself fighting off constant minor frustrations here. This place is 80% a sports daycare with literal schools of kids rolling through and clogging up activities and stations almost everyday. I’ve been a member almost three months and haven’t been able get a soccer field reserved once. These kids sports teams come to the workout area too and take up all the squat racks, leaving only 2 regular bench presses for the entire gym.
Couldn’t cancel out of a membership freeze when my daughter was born. They required me to activate/pay my membership for a month before the cancellation was honored.Even though they say “Cancel anytime” during their walkthrough tour.I expect this from a Golds Gym or Planet Fitness. St James uses the same tactics though.
The St James is quite simply the best training facility I have ever been in. Old Glory DC Rugby has been based in this incredible facility for the past 12 months and have enjoyed everything it has to offer. The TSJ staff are always friendly and welcoming, Hik is a legend who always has a warm welcome and is ready to help as soon as you walk through the door.Angelica and her Clean Team work tirelessly to keep the facility immaculate. The Clean Team staff are the heartbeat of the building with Lisa in particular keeping a smile on everyones face. Thanks TSJ from everyone at Old Glory DC
This place is AMAZING! I felt in love with it the minute I entered the building. My son love going to The super awesome and amazing park.Unfortunately, after I signed up for the membership it was as one disappointing after another one, after another one. I canceled my membership within 3 months, I didn’t want to pay for the 3rd month but I had no option. Here are the issues I have had during my time at the St. James:1. I was told that I was going to get a refund of $150 dollars and it never happened. The reason I was getting this refund is because I became a member the same week summer camp started and I was getting the difference.2. During swimming camp my boy (6y/o) spent a whole day without eating because he didnt like the options offered and no responsible adult notified me about it. The first person I talked to about this issue said she will pass the message to the coordinator camp, but she never did, because I spoke with the coordinator after a week of waiting. The first person I spoke to was also rude and defensive.3. After the lunch incident, I was told I was going to get a refund of $12 dollars. Money I paid for lunch during camp. I never got the refund.4. I was not able to enroll my son myself in gymnastics in the website if I wanted to use the $150 credit I never got and the 50% discount for enrolling in the membership. So I wrote to Ian from the sales team and he forwarded my email to the gymnastics program, but I didn’t receive any type of confirmation that he was signed into the program until I follow up with them again. If you have time to follow up with admin stuff then you’ll have no issues, but I don’t have time to do their job too.5. Camp programs did not meet my expectations, Specially Ultimate sports: All they were doing is hanging at the soccer field (no participation encouraged) and or at Super, Awesome and Amazing, when they supposed to be trying every sport.Swimming camp was just OK but they had way too many kids, so the time to actually be in the water and learn is minimal6. My son was called names by the older kids in charge.7. My son got kicked out twice of the class for a “reset” I’m front of his peers because he was causing a lot of distraction and we have only been there for three classes. I got pretty upset and we stayed there until the end of the class (my son didn’t want to return to class or future classes) and the coach never made the attempt to tell him it was ok to come back and join the class again. When I spoke to him, he was very defensive at first and said it was my responsibility to help him (the coach) during class. The reason he gave me for kicking my son out is because he was being a safety hazard for other kids because he talks to much. Yes, my son loves to talk, yes, my son has a lot of questions, and yes, my son loves to share his experiences, but I feel a coach is a type of mentor, a person who helps you improve, a support, and the person I spoke to doesn’t meet these meet this criteria. So, if you have a kid that loves to talk avoid this class. My list of reasons I’m giving this place a one star can go longer, but those were my main reasons.I honestly don’t want to go back and expose my kid to this type of environment again, but it would be a good opportunity to teach him why not to quit and be the bigger person, keeping our eyes on the true goal and not getting distracted by the other persons pettiness and bad behavior.I think the St. James has a potential, but they need to hired or invest a little bit more on their current staff. The current staff is not prepared to handle the basic customer service, administrative procedures, more adult supervision in summer camps would be great, training for staff (to avoid name calling), and hired experienced coaches.
My husband and I just love the St James. Great and friendly staff and facilities. The staff even remember our names and give us a warm greeting by name when we arrive and the health club equipment is kept in great working order. The classes are professionally run and fun. The Clean Team has been super during the pandemic keeping everything clean and wiped down. Never had to worry about the lockers rooms or any of the spaces cleanliness. Thank you for making our exercise experience the best!
We booked the event space for the DC Divas, the Womens full contact tackle football team. The team has practiced and played there before Covid and hope to again some day.The facility is pretty mind-blowing. Not just in size but quality. The event space is a hidden gem. The staff were terrific. The food was way better than we had expected it to be for 100 folks.
This facility looks like it belongs in Dubai; it is absolutely incredible. The ice was well maintained, the locker rooms had working showers with hot water.. if they had a bar in the upper seating area, theyd be making a fortune. Only complaint is the location of the scoreboard, but thats easily fixed.
Fantastic athletic center. Was not crowded early in the morning and presented many amenities.I am a bit biased, as I got in on a guest pass. The price is certainly more expensive than a smaller gym, but you get what you pay for here.
Great facility, great if you stay with your kids. Dont leave them here alone. Dont put them at camp here. Its unstructured chaos and dangerous. I walked from outside straight back to camp and took my kid home early and nobody stopped me; I could have been anyone off the street. Nobody is paying attention.
Ive been a member since it November 2018. A membership is one of the best things you can do to improve your lifestyle. Im at the complex three or four times a week training with Will Brothers in the Health Club or exploring one of the many available sporting activities (I love the pool, golf, field house, climbing walls, and skating rinks).Super Awesome Amazing is really fun even for adults (the trampoline!) and you wont want to miss a meal at Vim & Victor (I recommend the Vic Burger and the Shoreline Wave smoothie). You can spend whole days here multiple times a week and never feel bored. The staff is fantastic. I cant say enough about the facility. The value for the money is unbeatable.
My family and I are loving the St. James. The facility is the cleanest. The staff is friendly and attentive. We always see the cleaning crew keeping the place spotless. Lisa, one of the crew members, always greets me while working hard. We are officially Spoiled!
Signed up a couple weeks ago, this place is absolutely amazing. Huge facility, basketball courts, mountain climbing, hockey rink, soccer/ football field. Worth the money!
Amazing facility!! It really has everything.
As parents we enrolled our sixteen-year-old into the travel baseball program at St James.By the first game we found out how poorly the program is ran.My son played the first two games of travel baseball and we soon found out that the entire team was outmatched and eventually out played by 18 year olds. In addition the coach never showed up to the first game or the second game.rnd never informed parents that he would not be there.St. James is refusing to return even 50% of the monies we paid which is expensive.I would NOT recommend joining St. James baseball program for any reason
Great facility but the staff are terrible. An issue occurred & they couldn’t accommodate us. The staff here has terrible customer service. The worst I’ve ever experienced in my life. Hire better staff who knows the company. Also we encountered Leila she had a very bad attitude and tried to use her Loud demanding voice on us, she demanded we leave without a result and kept trying to push us. She was rude and was going back and forth on her word. Clearly she doesn’t know the company policies because she told us one thing & then turned around and changed it. She is very unprofessional. I work in customer service and hospitality and this is not how you treat guest or try to resolve their issues. I hope this gets fixed, because it’s a great gym & facility and it’s beautiful. But Leila left a sour taste in everyone’s mouth.
Top tier gym well worth the money. If they just put up a few desks this could be a great co working space too. Clean. Spacious. Well stocked. Highly recommend.Locker space is sparse but I assume that is to enforce social distancing.
Extremely nice and secure place for parents and kids. Places for adults to relax, i.e nail salon, while kids enjoy various activities.
The staff is super friendly and accommodating and the facilities are fancy and clean by comparison of other venues. However, not a great place to play, coach or watch hockey. The clock is in the most illogical location so that you cant see it from the bench. The separation between the 2 rinks is so bad that you you cant tell which rink the whistles are coming from. The ice is inconsistent by any rinks standards. Theres no livebarn to watch the games.Oddly enough, they host a fair amount of competitive hockey, and yet every coach and parent Ive spoken with complains constantly trying to watch a game. Some minor tweaks and it would be a great place all the way around.
Xavier & Lisa, Elena, Emelia is the best and the cleaning team are so friendly and kind. Always taking care of the Old Glory Boys and always smiling, keeping everyone so happy. Much love!
Very spacious open and clean. the place smells super good. The courthouse has good volleyball courts. however, when the big dividing banners come down, theres barely any serving room for jump serves on one end.
My five stars are going to Lisa! She is doing a great job! She’s really nice! She always make sure we got everything we need! Specially ice. Make sure she got a reward
The St. James is an immaculate facility with so much to offer! I would highly recommend stopping to check it out if you havent yet!
Love it here. The people really make this an amazing gym. Yes there is everything here but without good people it would not mean much. Those at the concierge desk/entry way are always kind and remember my name. The trainers are all professional, friendly, and helpful. They extra measures for covid seem to be working. I constantly see the cleaning crew working to ensure a safe environment for all. They are all friendly to offering a friendly nod or greeting. Lisa in particular is always helpful to me.
Loved loved loved it. This is one of the best basketball indoor facilities I have been to. They actually have an indoor ice hockey rink too. They sell everything from restaurant style food to shirts and alcohol. This place is very clean and the staff are very friendly. I highly recommend this place.
I LOVE THE St. JAMES. Ive been to this vacation for working out several times for many occasions prior to COVID and after. This place is always clean and sanitized. Ive used the turf field, basketball court and the meeting room and each time I had no issues, I felt right at home and comfortable. I cant thank the staff enough for the AMAZING CUSTOMER SERIVCE and hand on help, they do this so effortlessly!!!!!!! Special shoutout to Tara Mason for making sure all needs are met. I rave about this place and look forward to coming to this center daily.
Clean. Well run and organized. Something for EV.ER.EE.ONE. Ive have a mani pedi here. Ive dined here. Ive attended a Halloween activity here. Ive done Super Awesome and Amazing several times here, and the waterpark here. Its a win-win.
I mean it’s unfortunately the only complex like it so, kinda have to take the negatives with it. If you’re a serious golfer I do not recommend it, they’re possible the most inaccurate and frustrating simulators I’ve ever used. I think I can look past that but, it’s been more frequently than not that there is a insane amount of little kids playing dodgeball in the squash courts, it’s ridiculously distracting and just serves to compound a subpar experience. Also to put it plainly the restaurant sucks, the foods bad and it takes insanely long.
Great facility, They have everything any sport or activity requires. Even the cafe there is amazing
This place is absolutely huge. They have just about every sport covered, including e-sports. The pool is Olympic size and they will be able to support multiple trainings are once. They have an indoor football field, eight basketball courts that also can be volleyball. They have a wing for gymnastics, and eight squash courts. You have to see it to believe it.
Lisa is doing an outstanding job. We love seeing her on the first floor. Every time there’s something that needs to be clean she is right there. She is the best at her job and we love seeing her . She is an outstanding employee
Absolutely incredible. Top of the line facility you wont find anything close to it ever! Its expensive but if you can afford it, do it. Could literally spend days in here. Best gym Ive ever seen in my life. Jaw dropped and couldnt close my mouth when I first saw it because I was in awe. Every fitness lovers DREAM.
Toke my youngest son and granddaughter to camp there facilities was great 👍 👌
When you see the place it looks safe places for the kids however, the summer camp is the worst place . My kids experiencing bullying and cursing at the summer camp. Furthermore, when I complained about the bullying the camp worker teamed up, I felt like out sider. If you pay this kind of money you will get best summer camp in the area. The worst summer camp!
Had high hopes for this athletic center, joined 2 months after it opened and even though the membership is $$, there has been no new equipment or weights added. For $235 a month I would expect to see some new machines or free weights during the year but nothing. I even requested through email and always the same response “we will forward your request” and nothing. Basically tells me, GFY member and enjoy the expensive building because we don’t plan on upgrading. It is a cool spot for kids and teenagers who want to be active.
It was my familys first time at St James and it is a gorgeous place! However, it came with disappointments, and I wanted to bring it to your attention. I arrived at the room, it looked not to have been cleaned from a previous party. The floor was stained, tables were not wiped down. I requested cleaning products and cleaned the room before the guests arrived. I also noticed the pre-selected color schemed utensils, cups, plates, and tablecloths were not set up or at our disposal (the basics). I informed the host of what was previously requested. The host informed me there were no tablecloths. I set the room up. When the food arrived with no water, the chicken tenders were hard, no ketchup or sauces for the chicken and fries. The guests were leaving the room to request items, that should have been a no-brainer. For the costs I should not have to clean and setup a predetermined party. It would be nice if someone would rectify.
Spending time at the St James just makes your sporting life better. You see many quality programs and athletes that model excellence. Proud to be a member.
This place is ginormous! It is astetically pleasing and staff seem very nice.
Gorgeous space and world class facilities. Too expensive and weak program offerings. Membership requirements are intimidating and confusing. They were not even using the ice rinks, basketball courts, volleyball courts or full size turf field on a rainy cold Sunday when they should all be packed. They dont rent space but instead run options and programs themselves which will ultimately drive groups away and attract less people. Location is rough and destroyed by traffic on weeknights.
Amazing facility, unlike anything in this area. Total health and wellness being offered under ONE roof.More than enough space and workout equipment.Olympic-sized pool with moveable divide. Seating for 250 at pool.Basketball courts (six, total)or cam convert to nine volleyball courts.Separate locker room facilities on each floor for men and women.Innovative use of space (members only lounge area, yoga lounge, free weight and cardio equipment located on all three levels.I like the fact that its a health and wellness facility. There will be a medical space within the facility for physical therapy and the like. There is retail space and a restaurant. There is also an indoor waterpark that Ill be open from 9 AM to 9 PM for kids. All spaces to work out are open 24 hours, except for the pool, which is open from 5 AM until 12 midnight, daily.
Had a 8th birthday party for grandson. When I arrived to the room, it looked not to have been cleaned from a previous party, none of the preselected utensils or plates etc had been set up or at our disposal. Had to clean and setup my own party room. Ordered pizza, chicken tenders and fries. The tenders were fried to hard and the food came without water, ketchup or sauces for the chicken. Had to keep going back and forth to staff for no brainer items. For a place so costly...service should be betterOther than that the place is nice.
Outstanding facility w/ amazing staff!
We played a juniors volleyball tournament in the Court House. The facility is beautiful and beautifully maintained. The floors are great!
It reminded me of a failed private club that was forced to go public. It is dated in design and the staff are completely useless. As well, it is dirty It seems no one knows how to use a broom or a mop.
While it is overpriced, the kids loved the area. However I don’t see them going every single day, which is why we didn’t do the membership. There’s a huge trampoline, rock climbing for a different abilities, a small obstacle course, and slides which the kids can play tag with Nerf guns. For an extra charge there is a waterpark, VR room, and esports. The staff is very friendly and the place helps children build self-esteem.
Beautiful facilities, terrible sportsmanship.9 year olds talking trash to parents and calling opponents the n word. They learned it from somewhere. For reference to the owners comment, this was the 2011 Boys team playing in the Virginian tournament. Our kids asked us what that word meant, so we asked the Director of Soccer, who was present for the whole thing about the incident as well as the behavior of the parents. He was incredulous, even with the parents practically standing on the field taunting the players from the other team. 9 year olds!
We are members and absolutely love this place!! If you are thinking about a membership, just go ahead and do it!
What an awesome facility! Was there for a swim meet and the pool is beautiful.
Amazing facility. Doesnt matter what sport youre interested in... swimming, running, lacrosse, ice hockey, field hockey, football, basketball, rock climbing...you get the picture
Not a cheap membership but it is the nicest sports/rec center Ive ever seen. Everything is top of the line and kept immaculately clean. It has everything from pools, water park, indoor fields, hockey rinks, golf, weights/fitness and more. Even has a nice restaurant for quick meals, snacks or beer. The only downside is the membership cost but if you can afford it you will NOT be disappointed at all in the quality and variety they offer.
This place is amazing. State of the art everything... wish there were others in DC or MD.
This place is absolutely incredible. Seriously, itll blow your mind.I was given a tour of the complex and was simply floored by the amount of amenities that are going to be included for members.Theyre going to have a state-of-the-art fitness center (including a high-performance section for serious weightlifters), an olympic-sized pool, a FIFA-sized turf field, 4 basketball courts (which can be converted to volleyball courts), 2 NHL regulation-sized hockey rinks, a climbing wall, a spa, squash courts, VR golf, gymnastics center, batting cages, an entertainment center (full of VR games for families and parties), a full-service restaurant run by Top Chef winner Spike Mendelsohn, a water park and more that I cant remember. This place really is going to be the one-stop-shop for athletes and families in this area. Looking forward to enjoying this when it opens.
I am only giving them a 2 star is because the cleaning crew is great, they constantly clean everything. But in terms of the gym, I feel like I am working out in a hotel hallway or closet, all the equipment jammed into some area of the gym. And I feel this gym is catered to after school minors, they have all these programs for them, and keep all the doors locked most of the time from adult members. For paying a couple hundred dollars a month I expected way more. And they have poor customer service, need to go to Chic fila to learn some basic customer service.
Ive been a STJ member for a year now, and I have to say that the cleaning staff is phenomenal, especially Lisa! Every morning when I walk into the ladies locker room, I am greeted by such a warm and cheerful greeting from Lisa, who is always hard at work. Her energy always makes me feel so welcomed. Thank you, Lisa for always being so kind to me! =)
Best health and wellness (gym) ever!
Pretty great facility. Stinks that it is so far from my house.
The best sports complex that felt more like a college campus than a sports facility. Everything from the friendly staff first greeting you to the Cafe, the merchandise store, and the many different sports fields available to you is top of the line. My son had an amazing experience at a birthday party that gave them private access to an indoor trampoline park and playground.
Good for winter Basketball, winter indoor Lacrosse, hockey and swimming. Nice facility and well staffed.
Great place to be a member at. My kids have been going here since they opened and we are happy with their facility and everything they have to offer. Thank you
Very nice, state of the art facility! Very clean. They did not take my temperature before entering the building, though. I did complete a Health Screening questionnaire online before attending my scheduled event.Update - Thanks for taking the extra precautions to make sure everyone stays safe!
The complex is massive. Staff was friendly and helpful. Used the batting cages. Well laid out, multiple batting areas. Most equipment is provided. Will definitely return.
I really like it here the place is awesome. The gym is very clean. The employees here really take their job seriously, the gym is very clean workers like Mr.Harvin are very friendly and helpful. I appreciate the hard work all the staff has put in. Thank you
Very impressive facility. All the sports fields and courts are top notch, the pool is Olympic quality and the staff keeps the facility very clean and orderly. COVID protocols being followed are to the highest standard and I feel very comfortable using this facility.
Love this place. Wish it was closer to my house.
Its a mini sports complex or giant gym. They have common sports spaces but in a single building facility. However, its uncommon to find places like this in America, especially in semi/countryside towns. Workout equipment area is actually not very big and maybe smaller than some large gyms, but the price is cheaper than signing up to a gym+swimming and racket club.I think its a good place unless you live north of Rt.7 in Fairfax county.Yes, it is in a big building that houses a number of activities plus a restaurant and a massage shop.
This facility is incredible. I have a membership to the pool and it is one of the nicest Olympic sized swimming pools I have ever swam in. I always have my own lane as well, which is nice considering the pandemic. I have also visited the spa a few times for massages which have been wonderful.
Beautiful, super clean, lots of friendly staff employees the place is giganticActivities going on all over but each venue is XXXL plenty of room.
Looks fancy and expensive. Okay. Take back on expensive. Wish i lived closer but looks awesome.
Excellent, clean facilities. They have everything sports related there: a pool, 2 ice rinks, a courthouse, a field house, rock climbing, a full gym, and so much more. Overall a great facility.
This place is amazing. What a wonderful place to have for our youth as well as adults. Check this place out on the internet. Too many venues for my photos to do justice.
Excellent variety of class selections, exuberant staff, and clean facilities
The St. James is an amazing facility. The owner, staff and cleanliness accomodates student athletes and creates a safe space so that they can continue to practice and have a few hours to escape the challenges of our world today.
Outstanding facility. The staff is super attentive and kind to all. My review would be a five star but the two star deduction comes from the enforcement of masks worn by the complex users. Once a majority of people enter the facility, there is little to no enforcement of masks. The locker room and fitness areas are neglected in this enforcement. People that are not working out are gathering without proper distance and maskless.
Best facility on the east coast
Great facility. Our team Skyline Volleyball played in volleyball tournament there.
Been a member for a year now and love the complex! I don’t know about the other staff members but Anna Purcell has been amazing and has provided us with exceptional customer service! If you want to sign up, go see her!! She won’t make you feel guilty or push you into something you’re not ready for! She has great knowledge about the facility, membership, and will be super honest with you!The gym itself is awesome and worth the price !
St. James has been the perfect fit for our family especially during this unprecedented COVID period. The unbelievable fitness and sports facilities have provided our kids the facilities to improve athletically (instead of plaguing video games all day) and enabled my wife and I to commit to getting back into shape. All while maintaining appropriate safety measures. Highly recommend other families to join who are tired of being couped up at home feeling like time and opportunities are passing by for yourself or your kids.
Beautiful and very spacious with just about any amenity you want with your membership.
The cleaning staff is amazing. Especially Lisa, she is a sweetheart and works her butt off every-time I see her
The St. James is the state of the art facility for sports and working out! I will be returning!!!
I participated in various camps and classes, this place is absolutely extraordinary! The staff is very kind, funny, and welcoming! The staff is also very willing to help assist members and guests. The building is very clean and well taken care of. Definitely the best sports complex/gym I’ve ever been to!
Wanted to let people know that the facility is always super clean even during these tough times Elena, Emelia, Lisa part of the clean team are always working super hard to keep the facility safe for all our members.
Worth every penny that my brother pays for his membership. Lol
Maybe short staffed due to Covid. Stopped by 12/19 to get some information for a membership, just moved to nova from MD. Was given a brochure and told to use QR code for pre Health assessment. I asked to see a sales rep to ask questions, potential packages, what you actually get with a membership, etc. Was told to sit in lobby and someone would be with me, then front desk staff came back around after 10 minutes to inform me I had to wait another 30 minutes to potentially join another tour. I asked if there wasn’t a sales rep available any soon for some quick questions? She mentioned that’s what the folks in the back told her... I’ve been to similar wellness clubs: equinox, lifetime, etc. and there are always reps readily available to assist and client face with the customer. I returned the brochure and decided it wasn’t worth my time since the club didn’t seem to prioritize new clients especially for a membership that would run north of $120 a month, there should always be a standard for customer service at that price point.-Peter
Clean, well run, and lots to do. Just wish the location was better for everyday workouts, being tucked away in an industrial park makes daily access difficult at times. Great employees.
