The Instructors are knowledgeable and consistent. The environment is professional and clean. The instructors are very patient with people who are new or may have a fear of fire arms. Even when faced with cases where someones anxiety may inhibit training, they remain calm and professional. I highly recommend this training for all gun owners.

Update: On 6/29/2021 I was able to reach Pete at Defensive Firearms regarding rescheduling my unarmed training. I followed up with him about the ASP certification, he said the trainer is no longer with the company but he stated he would reach out to ASP and see what he could do. He said he will let me know what they say when I go in for my unarmed training.Knowledgeable about course content but lacks communication with customers. Back in April I talked with pete regarding replacing my asp handcuffing license as my wallet was stolen. He said he would talk to the instuctor about the cost to replace the card....he never got back to me, they dont answer the phone when I call, and back in may I sent them a facebook message. Here it is mid June and they have yet to see the message let alone respond to it. Its a shame because I used to refer people to them. Now I refer people elsewhere as they appear to be off the grid and unresponsive to their customers. For all that they preach about being professional, they sure dont practice it. When and IF they ever decide to get back in touch and I get my issue resolved, I will update my review.

I took a class, given by Donovan, and it was the best. He was very informative, practical, punctual, and open to questions/hypothetical situations. As a former Marine, I highly recommend this be the one stop shop for all training courses.

I am SO glad I took this class instead of doing the online class. The staff is extremely knowledgeable and helpful. I got my concealed licenses and know that I have the knowledge to keep myself and others safe. I recommended my coworkers and friends to them already! Great place with great people.

My wife and I took their tactical handgun 1 course, the instructors were very competent and their training was easily understood by all. When my wife was uncomfortable with one segment of the training one of the trainers coached her through the segment until she was comfortable with it.

I took both the CHL requirement course and the Intro to Handgun course. As someone with no handgun experience, the classes were fantastic. The instructors were knowledgable, clear, and patient, with a great emphasis on safe handling. They did a fantastic job both conveying information in the classroom, as well hands-on on the range. Cannot recommend them enough!

Very disappointed in the course. Instructor acted like he was teaching his first class. He never told us that he never had his Utah Certification until we showed up for the class. He gave us back our 20 bucks, but it’s kind of waste of time because I need to take class over now to get it. I don’t recommend this company at all.

Ive taken dpsst classes from a few different places. DFI is by far the most professional. I wouldnt recommend anyone else.

Took their Conceal/Carry and Intro to Handgun. Both classes were great. Very informative and safety focused. Instructors were clear, straight forward, to the point, and very knowledgeable. I left both classes feeling far more confident in both theory and practice. Looking forward to taking another class.

As a military veteran myself, I thought I knew everything a guy could know about firearms. Taking Defensive Firearms Instructions concealed class was eye opening! Donovans knowledge of laws, safety and responsible gun ownership were top notch! I strongly recommend anyone considering a concealed carry permit get in their class!

I took the Tactical Handgun 1 course from Defensive Firearms Instruction. First off I will lead by saying I was very impressed by how professional the owner and staff were. They went above and beyond to make sure we as a class were safe and properly prepared for the course. The class was very interactive. Laid back but professional at the same time. The ONLY bad thing I could say would be on my part. I didn’t read the information very well and bought frangible ammo somewhere else when I could have bought it from them in the first place and spend less money than needed. But the staff was extremely knowledgeable and very safety oriented which is a very good thing. I would definitely advise anyone to take any course from them. I plan taking more courses from them in the future.

If I could give six stars I would. I Went through defensive handgun 1. This class was safety first! On top of being one of the best classes I have ever taken. The instructors were excellent. The information was solid. And the training was professional.

Donovan and his crew of instructors are absolutely top notch. It does not matter if you 0 experience or 50 years experience you will learn something in whatever class you take. I wish I was still in Oregon because there is no other place I would go for my license. I would not be where I am today without his training. I miss his classes! Absolutely superb training. Instructors are the most knowledgeable that I have come across in a very long time, extremely thorough and cover every aspect of firearms safety and training. I just took the concealed weapons course. I was concerned about all aspects of safety in particular. I understood safety with a static pistol, but I did not realize now much of safety is being trained to shoot straight at the right target at the right time. The instruction was excellent, especially the live shooting segment. Donovan helped me understand how the basics will save my life. The appropriate stance, grip, breathing, etc. is crucial. I recommend this training and trainer to anyone who wants to know how to handle a pistol safely and efficiently. I will be taking the Tactical Handgun course as soon as I get back into town. By far the best weapons training course I have experienced. Extremely knowledgeable staff. It is obvious these guys are heavily experienced with the material. I took the OR/UT CHL live fire course, and I will be going back for more as soon as possible. They will make sure you leave much smarter and more capable than when you arrived.

I went for the armed and unarmed classes back to back. The skills and training by DFI are solid and high quality. You are not going to find a better place to get trained. The experience that the staff shares with you is all real-world and brought to you by real experiences from police and military folks.

DFIs classes are second to none. Ive attended 3 classes, both lecture and live fire, and can confidently say that their instruction is some of the best in the Eugene area.The live fire classes are hosted by multiple instructors, this gives students plenty of 1 on 1 instructor time. This means that the instruction you receive is tailored to your skill level.Lecture classes are content dense with well vetted. Topics are explained in easy to understand language with plenty of supporting information. DFIs instructors provide practical information in addition to the necessary instruction to qualify for whatever certification you are studying for.I recommend their classes every chance I get and am excited to continue my education.
