There employees didnt have a good maintenance to the post holes digger, and the auger bit had a doll blade. I wasted my time and money.

VERY disappointed in this company. Apparently your reservation for equipment is not worth the time it takes to set it up. We “reserved” equipment and when we showed up that morning to get it (our “reservation” being for the day) we’re told the people who reserved it the day before didn’t bring it back. So pretty much, it’s run like Home Depot, show up and hope it’s there. Your reservation doesn’t count for anything. I feel like a company running a rental business with reservations for equipment should enforce its reservations. If you want it 2 days then rent it for 2 days OR bring it back and get in line like everyone else has had to do!!

I absolutely despise doing business with this place. Everything they have is junk. Rented a dingo this morning and 5 mins into the job the track comes off. He has driven the prices up on Everything! Not worth it. I would recommend event rentals, sun belt, Ahern. Absolutely any rental place but this one. Please continue to read other reviews. See for yourself

I rented the Toro TRX-16 Trencher over the weekend. I was trenching to run power from the house to my building. I had problems with the trencher and took videos. I explained what happened, and they give me a full refund. They offered to provide me with a different or larger trencher, which I would have taken if time permitted before the electricians arrived. They have a lot to choose from, and I will be renting from them again. Thank you for your understanding and excellent customer service!

Rented a paint sprayer today. They were very friendly and helpfulish. The issue I had was that when I communicated with the girl working the counter that if I could bring it back in 4 hours that I would the charged a lesser rate she agreed. When I brought the sprayer back in less than 4 hours I was informed by the man working the counter that they did not have a 4 hour rate for the sprayer. It would have been nice if I was informed this before I busted my butt to get my work done in less than 4 hours.Updated:. Cant say enough on how much this means. Thank you for the correction and the gracious email. I will definitely be back to rent from Augusta. It means the world when you are willing to reach out and make customer service a priority. I am the owner of Sterling Craft Plumbing and we occasionally rent concrete saws and trenchers and even a mini excavator from Asheville Highway Rental. I have rented trenchers from Sunbelt and the Home Depot Rental department in the past and the trenchers at Asheville Highway Rental are by far the best running and most capable of any I have used. They have the best price and the rental includes a trailer unlike Sunbelt at a far better price.I cant speak for how they handle an issue as some of the other reviews have complained about, but I have used them numerous times without incident. The equipment has been in good working order and they have become my first choice when I need to rent equipment. I wouldnt hesitate to use them again.

Quick, easy service. Low prices, friendly people. Only complaint is that the chain on the engine hoist cant be adjusted, but they threw in another length for free!Highly recommend

Stay away from here, where is the negative 5 star rating...... I rented a power rake last year, got home and realized the main bearing assembly that holds the flail blades was in pieces. I brought it back that day & they refunded me. Great, no harm no foul. I go back this year, rent the same tool, get home, it runs for 30 seconds or less and keeps cutting off!!! Its so low on oil that the safety switch is shutting it down. So I go back the next day at lunch to return it unused. I show a video and explain what happened to an employee and Wayne(the owner) walks over and asks, (with a major chip on his shoulder) why didnt you bring it back sooner??? I rented it at 445, you close at 5 and I have to be at work at 745am! I told him Id like my money back and you need to start checking your equipment better before you rent it out, this is ridiculous and a waste of my time! His reply? I know a way to solve your problem, dont ever rent from us again, dont ever come back to my store! Wayne is a hostile individual with a complete disregard for customer service and professionalism. I have NEVER been told not to come back to a place of business. Take your money to a place where not only will the equipment work but your business will be appreciated.

Did many rentals thru here before. New management is in no way as good as the priors. Rented a bobcat for a 40 hr week and got 6 hr in and bobcat threw a belt and would not move. Then management didnt want to refund anything! Had to fight for less than half of what was paid. Go to Sunbelt on I-26, costs less and easy to work with and around issues that arise.

If you are looking for a place that has it ALL (and I do mean ALL) from Bobcats to Chocolate Fountains this is place for you! The staff is knowledgeable and very efficient. I have compared prices for most (if not all) of the local rental spots and this companys prices are always the most budget friendly. If you have a home improvement project or an upcoming wedding this is the place to visit!

As many of you will already know, planning a wedding is a difficult and tedious task (even with a planner) so to find a place with helpful and friendly staff who could help me compare prices (with their major competitors I might add) as well as go out of their way to match my ever changing color schemes was a blessing!!! Walking in I was skeptical due to all the large equipment but once inside I was privy to a full showroom and warehouse full of all my wedding necessities. From table linens, wedding arches, all the way up to water goblets and cake trays they made planning my big day easy and budget conscience. I just want to thank the staff for dealing with this semi-bridezilla! :-)I would definitely recommend this rental place to ANY woman looking for a decent priced wedding!

If there is a star less than one, this place deserves it!! We rented a backhoe from this place for a Saturday so we could use it on Sunday too. After about 5 hours, the pin kept coming out of the bucket and the tire went flat. That rendered us helpless. Only half of the work has been done and have a piece of rentend equipment that cant be used. Called on Monday morning and Wayne was very rude. Said we could fix the tire and keep working or they could come get it and would charge us extra for them fixing the tire. The tire had a tube in it that was put there as a way to fix the tire from a previous flat. This is a heavy duty construction piece of equipment. You dont use tubes to fix tires like that!! Wayne told me today that he got the equipment back and there was a nail in it and its my responsibility. I told him that the tire was not fixed properly before we even rented it and that its not my responsibility. He told me to never step foot in his place again. Dont worry, Wayne!! I WONT!!!!! I told him that we asked several other rental places about the tires and they said that is not how they handle repairs. He told me to go to them and never come back. I was in the middle of telling him that he BETTER not charge my credit card and he hung up on me!!!! That is not how you handle a customer!! He is very unprofessional and rude!! DO NOT EVER GO THERE!!!!!

I rented a Toro STX-38 stump grinder with trailer from Asheville Highway Rental. Soon after leaving their yard, I did have a problem. One of the trailer tires blew out. They sent a guy with a new wheel. It took a bit of time because it was Saturday and they were very busy, but I got no push-back or complaints from the staff. They were friendly when I called and the desk agent called several times to kept me updated on the helpers progress. When I returned the machine, I mentioned the tire blowout and the guy doing reception paperwork apologized. He said the trailer wasnt the right size for the load and they would make sure that mistake wasnt repeated. I also complained about the sluggish response of the machines joystick. He immediately called into the shop on his walkie-talkie and told them the machine needed to be looked at. Again no push-back. So although they stumbled on the trailer size, I think their overall response was helpful and business-like. I will rent from them again. I also want to praise the STX-38 stump grinder. Its greatest benefit to me was that it fits through a 35.5 inch gate opening. (It is 34 wide.) I had always worried about tracked units tearing up turf. Not a problem. The contact pressure is so low, it just slides across grass and does not damage it. The machine is highly maneuverable and requires very little operator effort. Im 70 years old and I didnt have to sweat when operating it. We cleaned up a 36 diameter river birch stump in about 90 minutes including all of the adjacent roots. Old river birch stumps are very hard wood, but this machine ate right through it.

I am a business owner in Spartanburg, SC and have rented on and off from this company over many years. --Many items, for business functions, bobcats, decent amount of business. I had an open Business Account which I have PERMANANTLY CLOSED today.I had seen examples of how they treat their customers somewhat poorly to sometimes detached before but not had my own experience until a week ago.To say these folks dont give a damn about you or your business would be gracious.I have not been treated so poorly in my business/personal life in 30 years or more. Unbelievable the attitude of this company.The final straw: I reserved a mower on a Saturday, which they were unaware of when I got there, we loaded it up and after my 1 hr drive (30 min ea. way) I get home and the belt is broken. There was no way for me to cut all the grass I had to cut.I call back to complain and they tell me another one just came in, but YOU wont have time to come get it before we close. Gee thanks for the help.I tell them fine, I am not wasting another hour of my time/gas to bring you your broken mower, it will be in my driveway when you want it.The Manager tells me with attitude, sure thing, we will come get it right now then. Oh so NOW you can drive to me huh? But you couldnt just a minute ago to bring me the mower that just came in that works???Oh, really? Youre coming to get it right now? (this is because he thought I was lying and did not want me to use it having said it was broken). He said, yes Now.I say then if you are coming NOW, bring me the one you just got back so I can cut all this grass I have to cut.He pauses having been caught with the decision to do the right thing.....then says, ah, okay, I suppose that I can do that SINCE IM COMING OUT THERE...like it was a big problem.Did they show up? NO. Did they call? NO.They left me with nothing, no apologies, no mower. COMPLETE NO SHOW AFTER SAYING THEY WERE COMING TO BRING ME THE OTHER MOWER. I SAT AND WAITED ANOTHER 2 HOURS. By now they are closed.They simply picked it up on Monday (when it was due back).Today, 7 days later, they SEND ME A BILL, WITH A $49 PICKUP/DELIVERY FEE in ADDITION to the cost of the rental.I called and spoke to Mike the manager and he told me, I remember you, you dont have to pay it if you dont want to.... Really? I dont?I told him to permanently close our account. he said, sure. Like it was no big deal-totally irreverent.My accountant has closed it on our system and my entire force of 45 employees have also been warned not to do business with Ashville Highway Rentals.B Rossi.

THINK TWICE BEFORE DEALING WITH THIS COMPANY! For three weeks, several family members, now miles apart, have been actively involved with one of the sales reps to settle questions about several missing tablecloths before making final payment on the account. Wayne Hurt, the owner-manager of the company, to whom no one had spoken directly, called and left a threatening message for my daughter-in-law, and the next day a Spartanburg deputy called to tell her that a warrant had been issued for her arrest. I went to the business to discuss the matter personally. Mr. Hurt made a loud, rude comment as soon as I explained who I was. I ignored it, and did not respond at any time with anger or accusations. Mr. Hurt refused to listen to me, and shouted, “It’s customers like you who make my job miserable!” He continued to yell, shook his finger at me, and threatened to have the police come and forcibly remove me from the store if I did not leave immediately. He said he didn’t have to talk to me, that it was now up to the law to settle it. No one on our end had any intent to cheat the company; there was no lack of communication about how it would be handled or refusal to pay the bill, despite the fact that the delivery and pick up were not signed for or as scheduled. I am shocked at the extreme rudeness and verbal abuse my family and I experienced from Mr. Hurt. I will NEVER patronize this business again, and will discourage anyone else from doing so in the future.

Beware of this company! The costumer service is extremely poor and it will cost you.Not only were there problems with delivery and pickup of rental items, but the owner is an extremely hostile and difficult person. I had been dealing with another of the employees, who was actually pleasant, about some questionable charges. I never even spoke with the owner once when he left me a rude phone message threatening to have me arrested and proceeded to threatened to have my mother-in-law arrested when she went in to discuss the matter with him. He never even listened to our complaint. Neither of us have ever been treated so poorly by another business. This man will waste your time and money and Id caution you to think twice before conducting business with him.
