Working with Heather and the rest of the team at Brain Balance has been a great experience. Although she didnt exhibit extreme behavior, we wanted to give our daughter the best chance at success. We can certainly tell a difference in her attitude and demeanor. Her social and academic life has improved and she is a joy to be around. Heather kept us fully informed and did a remarkable job of explaining our daughters challenges and her subsequent progress/improvement. I would ( and have ) recommend Brain Balance to anyone who wants to help their child be the best they can be.
Brain Balance has been the most amazing experience for my kids and my family! It has changed so many things for the good for us..... we still have a ways to go but could never be where we are if God hadn’t have led us to this place🙏🏻 Heather is amazing and has a wonderful staff who is so good with our precious kiddos❤️ They are so caring and are there to go through this trying experience with us!!!!
Heather Wells, Brain Balance’s director, and ALL of her staff are incredible. My son has been receiving coaching to boost his right brain weakness for about 7 months. Words cannot express my gratitude for the patience, perseverance, and professionalism of everyone involved in this center. My son is doing so much better in school, behaviorally and academically. I owe it ALL to the Brain Balance curriculum and the coaches who work so hard to taylor their program to help my son learn what he needs to each specific day. Great work everyone!
We were not sure what to do to help our 15-year-old son do better in school or how to help him with his emotions. I felt that ADD medicine would not solve the problem because it was way more than just lack of focus for my son (although I have seen medicine work with many children - Ive been a teacher for almost 20 years). I took him to Brain Balance and it was the best thing for him. The initial testing was extremely thorough and checked on every area of his brain... academics, eye tracking, listening, response time, fine and gross motor ability, balance, perception, processing, etc. They came up with a plan to strengthen his weaknesses - no medicine will do that. The teachers at Brain Balance were so encouraging and the activities are stimulating and challenging. My son is a frequent complainer and never shy to tell me his negative opinions, but he almost never complained about going to Brain Balance! His confidence in his abilities grew and he learned a lot about himself and how his brain works. This confidence and his new skills helped so much in the classroom! My son would often attribute his new-found success to what he was practicing at Brain Balance. It also helped with his emotions, self-control, and relationships at home. If you are looking for a long-term fix to a variety of issues, go to Brain Balance. Im so glad we did!Sincerely, Susan Frazier
The staff is phenomenal. They care so much for every childs development and have walked alongside us as we establish healthier habits to assist in my sons growth. Before Brain Balance he had difficulty in expressing his emotions and was unable to live in the moment. He seemed as though he was always on edge. Now he is able to have conversations with me and loves to sing and dance if he hears a song that he knows. I am excited to see what Kindergarten will be like for him since he is able to comprehend and process more of what he is learning.
Brain Balance is helping our daughter be the best version of herself! She is learning to express her feelings in a healthy way. She has gained confidence and most of all she is having fun and surprising us everyday with new achievements.
We are very impressed with the personal attention given to our child by the staff and coaches. Our dear little boy has made such incredible progress in the short three months he has been there, and we are so thankful! This is just the support we needed and sought. Thank you to everyone at Brain Balance Southlake for showing such love and commitment!
By far, this was the best think we could have done my our daughter, McKynzi. She was struggling with behavior and academics in school. We are so happy we found Brain Balance. The staff is awesome and super friendly.
Our grandsons behavior has always been more intense than other children his age. We tried many approaches that seemed to help somewhat, but he was still having difficulty expressing his emotions appropriately- even becoming aggressive frequently. We began seeing improvement in my grandsons behavior almost immediately. We are less than half-way through the program, and although he still has difficult days, they are fewer and further between. The staff is excellent and so helpful and encouraging. We are grateful to have found Brain Balance.
This program has totally given my daughter a new lease on life. She can function to her full potential. I started looking into Brain Balance because the Doctors/Counselors told me she had ADD and to start looking into medication. I didnt want that for her so I looked for different avenues. The difference in her is amazing, and I will not have to medicate my 9 year old daughter. WE LOVE BRAIN BALANCE SOUTHLAKE!
Brain balance has been amazing for my 12 year old daughter. She has progressed to every level she needs to be at and even surpassed some. It has helped her both in school and home life. I definitely recommend brain balance to anyone that needs a little help getting their child in the right direction...
If I could give a recommendation I would make sure to have in writing what the company says verbally. In my experience I was told one thing by the center and management and they did not produce what they said they would. They said that they would meet with the school and family members to create a learning plan and profile for my son. After I brought this up to them, they said that they were not doctor and could not create a learning profile. They charged me 10,394 dollars and did not refund ANY of the unused portion and basically told me to read my contact and that is what I agreed to. The center was deceptive in telling me what they would do with the school. After a six month period of being told repeatedly by the center that they would work with us, for after school activities and missed sessions, they said, the program is over and you should have read the contract. They repeatedly participated in shaming parenting choices when it was expressed that we wanted to discontinue the program. I would research extensively and DO NOT PAY IN ADVANCE. THEY OWE 7800 OF ADVANCE FEES
We had high hopes when we took both our boys here. BB is at not small cost. Our family sacrificed other needs to go here. Unfortunately there were many mistakes made in the handling of one of my sons in particular. Mistakes ranging from repeatedly printing out reports listing my son in an incorrect grade (despite informing them of correct grade day one) to completely forgetting to schedule our 2nd progress report until less than two weeks before we were done with the program and due for final testing, to suddenly changing brain dominance for my son after I discussed absolutely no improvement in focus, in fact regression. Perhaps it has something to do with Dr Randall no longer having involvement with this branch. We were completely disappointed. We opted not to do the final evaluation hoping to recoup some of our loss and were told the final evaluation was complementary. This branch lost ALL credibility with us. We are very dissatisfied.
I would highly recommend Brain Balance to anyone that is looking to help their child succeed without having to rely on medications. The coaches and staff are great and really care about every child.
We spent a tremendous amount of time and energy and MONEY going through the Brain Balance program with substantial assurances that we would be amazed by the progress that we would see. We saw NO progress. NO change at all. It was a huge disappointment and tremendous waste. Im not alone in that perception and am astounded that Im the first negative review out here. Maybe it works for some people, I dont know - I have a suspicion that the people who have good results havent tried some of the wider accepted portions of the program previously (dietary changes, etc.). If you have already gone down the road of the dietary changes, supplements, etc. and are hoping that you will gain extra benefits I dont think youll likely find it.Also, their reporting is totally screwy. They would tell me that my son was making so much improvement, and he was reading at a higher grade level, etc. but neither I who daily helped him with his homework or HIS TEACHERS at school could ever discern any change. If the improvement is only in their office, with their people, according to their measures, its not improvement.Save your money - spend it on a good quality tutor or martial arts training or pretty much anything else because spending it on Brain Balance is as good as watching it burn.
The program is SO worth it and I cant wait for results for our son after completing the program . The people are so friendly and knowledgable of the program. Strongly recommended to look into the program for your child.
LOVE the staff and their work is exceptional! We are very pleased with the attention our daughter has received.
We have tried several therapies over the course of 2 years. Nothing has had as large an impact on our daughter for her development and growth like Brain Balance.
Dr. Randall and his Staff have worked with my son who went into Brain Balance with multiple diagnoses and has positively changed his world and ours. My sons issues were so severe that the traditional medical community had given up hope of him socially, mentally and academically functioning in society. The best that they had been able to offer him was a life on very severe medications. Within a few months of Dr. Randall and his Staff working with my son with dietary changes and therapeutic exercises, he was medication free and moving forward socially, mentally and academically. In six months the child that wasnt suppose to progress had increased in all areas of evaluation 6 YEARS!! The thing that works so well at Brain Balance is the complete and overall approach Dr. Randall takes to change children from the inside out. He works with every aspect of your childs needs so that problems are solved instead of putting bandaids on anything. The staff at Brain Balance is very warm and positive and informative....you never have to guess about what they are doing or what you should be doing to help your child. The positive energy is always there to encourage your child and you to press forward to achieve greatness!
Oh my goodness!!! What a difference Brain Balance has made in our 5 year old!! Only wish we had found this a year ago!!!
Love this place, the staff are very friendly and treat my child in a positive way. I would recommend this program to any parent struggling to understand the complex and growing brains of children!
We have a son who was 3.5 years old and attended daycare 5 days a week. He had since he was 3 months old and never had any abnormal issues. Then we started receiving calls from his caregivers asking one of us to come see him and often pick him up for the rest of the day. He was throwing toys and chairs, kicking the walls, and screaming excessively. He would get so upset that he became inconsolable. After meeting with school officials and upon their recommendation, we sought outside help. As we are both working parents, my wife and I could not afford for one of us to quit our jobs and stay home to care for him full-time. Unfortunately, as we pursued professional help outside of the daycare, we found that either he was too young or the wait list for assistance was 6 months long (or even longer in some cases). Add to this that it all came to a head the week between Christmas and New Year’s, so basically no one was in the office or seeing new patients for at least the next couple of weeks. Then we discovered Brain Balance. We were completely unfamiliar with the program prior to this date. My wife called them on December 22nd hoping we could get in to meet with them shortly after the first of the year. The following Wednesday (12/28), we were sitting down with the program director discussing our son’s behavioral issues. Almost immediately, the director said she felt Grayson was in the Brain Balance “wheel house” of kids they could help. Not only did they work with kids as young as 3 years old, they were ready to perform an initial assessment 2 days later and begin a program for him on January 2nd. Granted the cost is no small thing to dismiss, but we chose to proceed given the flexibility, willingness to work with a young child, and most importantly because we felt the director truly cared about the welfare of our child. Our son attended sessions in office three days a week for about 9 months. No matter how difficult he was (and in the beginning he could be VERY difficult), each “coach” he worked with was always patient and kind. We never felt any trepidation about his well being or mental state. All of the staff was very polite and had a genuine desire to help our son. Sitting in the waiting room you also got to know other parents who were struggling with similar if not identical issues. The program also includes a detailed dietary program you can follow, as well as, a rigorous daily home exercise program. For most older children (7+), I would imagine the home program is not exceedingly time consuming, but for a 3~4 year old it often took us several hours to get him through everything. In the end though, we found him often asking to do certain exercises and would get through most of it within 30~45 minutes. Over time we began to see changes in him exactly like what the director told us during our first meeting so many months prior. There were status update meetings every 12 sessions to keep us apprised of his progress and to help identify the areas we should focus on at home. The office staff was always willing to work with us to reschedule appointments or answer questions. The director and other senior members were always there to answer our questions. They spoke to us, to the daycare staff, and even met with us at the daycare with school administrators (on more than one occasion) to help them better understand how to work with our child when he was having issues. At the same time it seems like it was both more than 9 months ago and barely a few weeks since our first meeting during the holidays. Now our son is back in daycare 4 days a week with no more calls from the staff. At home, meltdowns and temper tantrums are measured in minutes rather than hours. We are so thankful that we were able to find Brain Balance and get our child help to work through his issues with understanding the world around him and the emotions within himself. Thank you Brain Balance for helping our son learn to navigate this difficult time in his early childhood, so he can be a happy and healthy child.
My son was struggling with focusing and retaining information. He struggled to stay still at school. It felt at times I was talking to a wall. But now he has made major strides, more initiative, accountability and major grade improvement.
We were so pleased with Heather and her team at Brain Balance. Heather was especially helpful because she has had life experiences and formal education that were so helpful in helping us understanding our daughter’s challenges. She gave us hope and quickly became a big part of our “village”.As Director of Brain Balance, Heather holds weekly Team Meetings to discuss where each child was on their goals and what the team could do to encourage a child to continue to reach their potential. They also came up with plans to work with children that may have more challenging behaviors. I know this because our daughter was one of the more challenging students. Heather and team always welcomed our sweet girl and loved her well.Heather helped ensure our sweet girl was represented by BB in our school district’s ARD meetings. She helped to ensure our daughter’s needs would be advocated for and met when she began public school. Heather sent in some additional documentation long after the ARD meting’s to help GISD place our daughter in a classroom setting that would work for her, her peers and educators. Our daughter is going to school and is enjoying it. She is well cared for and loved by her teachers. To say we are grateful for Heather’s leadership, knowledge of the brain and life experiences is an understatement. She walked with us on this journey. She knew what could be. She gave us hope. I will forever be thankful.
In the 4 months that my son has been a part of the Brain Balance program he has made astonishing improvements. His communication skills have improved, he has been able to make friends, he has better control of his body and he is much less hyper. He has participated in other programs before to help manage the symptoms of his ADHD, dyspraxia, and sensory integration disorder. But none of the other programs can compare to the meteoric gains that he has made while participating in the Brain Balance Program. Before we started the program, if someone would have told me who my son would become as a result of the program, I would not have believed them. The Brain Balance program is truly one of a kind and I highly recommend it!
***UPDATE 2021***(2018)At 3 yrs old, we saw the writing on the wall. Our son was hitting and unable to control his emotions. We solicited the help of his teachers at his Montessori school to help. They were awesome, but try as we might, his outbursts continued to build. As my work revolves around a functional medicine approach, I utilized all modalities I had at my disposal to rebalance him. We were strict on his diet, employed classical homeopathy, Chinese Medicine, chiropractic, play therapy, neurotransmitter testing, western herbology, and every naturopathic approach we could. He would have moments of brilliance, but he would always slide back.Much to our dismay, we finally relented and started pharmaceutical assistance when he started kindergarten last fall at his new school. As he is medication-naive, he didn’t do well with medication and it seemed like it was one big guess at what he needed. I wanted to know why and no one could tell me.Enter in Brain Balance. My sons former teacher had seen a presentation and she suggested that Brain Balance might be a good fit. After his initial testing at BB, we finally new WHY he did what he did. The classes (we call Brain Camp) are three days a week and they do physical and mental exercises to develop the part of the brain that is lagging behind. The homework is a series of exercises every night. The dietary regimen challenges most people, as the average American diet is rich in gluten, sugar and other things that create inflammation in the body. Inflammation in the body begats inflammation in the brain; and brain development is impaired in the midst of inflammation. Remove the inflammation and exercise the part of the brain that is deficient, and voila! growth occurs.I’m not going to lie, it was challenging in the beginning. It takes time to develop the brain. The diet has not been as much of an issue for us, as we have been gluten free for years and watched sugar since he was a toddler. (It was always a trigger for his behavior.) But seriously, in our 4th month we see a change in the winds. He is doing better in school. He is starting to control his outbursts. The stress cloud over our house is lifting. We are also developing a community of people who truly understand what it is like to have a child with these challenges. The parents support one another and DON’T JUDGE each other. I always felt like no one understood what we endured as a family until I came to BB. Then suddenly we have a group of people who instantly understand our pain, frustration and desperation. Those same people share in our joy as the real boy emerges. It is not cheap and you have to do the work, but the rewards far exceed the price we paid. And these rewards will follow him into his future, so he can reach his maximal potential. So you may ask, “Was it worth it?” I can say without a shadow of doubt, most emphatically - Hell Yeah!UPDATE 2021: So you might ask how long this lasts. If you do the work and the brain rewires given the right internal environment (diet) and external input (brain camp and homework), then it can indeed change their stars. My son still has moments but they are spaced out and mild -really more like a healthy, growing kid would be. We marvel at him on a daily basis... and we are so grateful for his lasting change. He is quite brilliant in school (Gifted & Talented program), athletically inclined, and he is incredibly social. The real boy has been unlocked and now he is developing beautifully. I look back at this review and it seems a lifetime away. I barely remember those days. But for those on the fence, remember that this work isnt just about your kiddo. Its about YOU too. YOU have to commit. Nothing truly worth it was ever easy. I can tell you...it is 100% worth it.
The teachers and staff are great!
The staff is great!
