Crowded, yet convenient. However, there is one clerk who takes it upon herself to refuse scanning returns to a company that I have worked with for years, that pays the returned shipping costs when the package is received. She has challenged me every time I have come to her window to the point where I have dreaded her being the next opened window. All other clerks accept my packages, scans them, and hand me a receipt, and I am on my way. Every post office I have gone to never questions of what or to whom I am returning a package. Not only has it wasted my time in line to be serviced, I have been publicly admonished, as if I were a child, when I am an almost 70 yr. old retired educator. I have been coming to this post office at least 30 years. This woman has taken it upon herself to be a judge and jury when she is neither. The latest incident happened on Friday, September 10, 2021 at about 5:30 PM. I took my business to Royal Oak. Not a problem with their clerks, but having to drive across town to another post office was a major inconvenience!

I CHANGED MY ADDRESS ABOUT 3 WEEKS AGO.I was so lucky to run into the mail lady in the lobby just now and she found some of my mail in my old mail box. I would have never known if I didnt by chance run into her. I just wonder how I will know if it keeps being put in the wrong box....

Wish there was an option for no stars at all!!!! My first encounter with this post office was today and it was horrible. I came to pick up two packages and was met with rude and smart mouthness. The man proceeded to tell me hope he could find my packages, which he didnt. He also told me how he hates his job and really didnt want to do it. I asked to speak with a supervisor and he told me there wasnt one. Meanwhile I still dont have my packages, that I paid for and paid a delivery fee for.... This post office needs new staff, who knows how to deliver excellent customer service. I pray to God I never ever have to go back there.

This place should be shut down by the state of michigan. We were told our mail carrier quit so we didnt get mail for 3 weeks. Went to the post office and had to wait in line for an hour while the incompetent employees took 20 minutes per customer. Lady tells me there is no mail there for me. Will be reporting this place to a higher authority

Ms. Debra is always so helpful and really knows how to diffuse conflicts . I came in yesterday to pick up a package, I had the pink notice form that it was available for pickup. Unfortunately, I was helped by Alan once again. Every time he services me, he always has an attitude, visibly displays he hates his job and the customers he services, and he always makes it his mission to say even if I have the pink notice form that doesn’t mean the package is there ( even though it says it’s available for pick up after a certain time ) . I even tried to avoid him by letting someone else go in front of me but it didn’t work because the person didn’t want him to help them either! He took my ID and my notice form and went to “look for the package” . He came back not even 5 minutes later and said I’ll have to come back tomorrow and talk to my mail carrier’s supervisor because they have to get the package. I’ve been coming here for over 2 years and have never heard of anything like that . I left and came back and got into a small argument with him on why I came back . I told him I wanted someone else to look . He said that I would be told the same thing and even started talking about me to the couple that he was helping . So -10000000 stars for Alan . Debra was finishing up with her customer and once she was done, she helped me . Even though she couldn’t find the packages right away, she treated me and the situation properly. She did an extensive search while I was there and even after I left . She called me and told me she found everything. I had a vacation hold that was supposed to have ended last month but my mail was still being held . She said she put it in the correct place for me and that I can pick it up today . I really appreciate postal workers like Ms. Debra because without her interference, I would have been banned from this post office . Thank you Debra !

Its sad to have to leave this review. The USPS especially (IMO) is a big joke these days. You go inside and there is no sense of urgency, its just la, la, la, la.The route drivers are even worse! They make no attempt to deliver on time, they are on their phones constantly talking on the phone or surfing the web. Just yesterday (5/5/2021) the driver on my route was to deliver a package which was on their truck and out for delivery and to no surprise… this person didnt even try. They decided to skip the entire street and just note that Carrier is unable to gain access to front door to deliver the package.Now mind you its May - there is no snow, hail storm, dogs, cars, tornados or vampires that would have stopped them from successfully delivering the mail/package. It was purely laziness and choice.Unfortunately this is all todays generation will know. At least I have memories of a real postal carrier (Ken) who was there no matter what the circumstance.This is all.Its also worth noting that this is a common occurrence where the route driver skips the street.

This passport guys took a bunch lady that he thought was cute that didnt have anything to do with the passport. Me and a couple people waited like 30 min when there was no long line for the passport he constantly kept taking random lady for the actually mailing line to go to the passport line! Please treat everyone equally no one should get to skip the line just cuz he get to flirt with them

Postal worker Terry is by far the best employee I have EVER encountered at this Post Office . Don’t get me wrong, some of the others are okay as well, but Terry really knows his stuff . Since the pandemic started, I have to pick up my packages from this post office and EVERY time Terry helps me, I always leave happy because he always finds what I’m looking for without a problem. I shipped my first package the other day and Terry really helped me out . I had no idea what I was doing . Instead of me coming out of a lot of money ( about $25+) and shipping an unneeded oversized package, Terry helped me find the right size parcel and I spent under $10 ! I went in to ship that package and pick up packages and he came back fast with everything I was looking for as well. I appreciate him for always showing great customer service and giving his customers the best experience possible every time they come in . Thank you Terry !

Terrible mail service for the south west part Southfield, 48033.The postal carrier in this area consistently make mistakes and deliver the wrong mail to the wrong address. They falsify information In regards to “not being accessible” for mail delivery, and mail being delivered to the door step.I received other people’s mail at my residence, and other people receive my mail, maybe my mail carrier is dyslexic, or just lazy !!I have security cameras and I have proof nothing aligns with what the mail carrier documents!Where’s their proof ??It’s 2021, just about everyone has a smart phone, Amazon takes a picture of the package they deliver, while USPS sits idle stuck in outdated ways, this is why they are a failing entity of the US Government, the consistent mistakes and ethics of the carrier in my area is a reflection of the lack of management at the Southfield Branch. They need to hold their employees & managers accountable and to a higher standard!

TRASH!!! Haven’t received my package that was supposed to be delivered on 5/28!I’ve been overly patient with no help or results on their end. All they can do is open tickets so the next person can continue to not help. I’m so over them and if I could stop using them altogether, I most definitely would!

I was recently in this location May 7, 2020 and it was a possible danger to everyone. It was about 3:50 to maybe 4:15. Every customer in line had on the mask as required by the posting on the door. There was a lady waiting to pick up a package, and she did not have on a mask. When it time for the next customer to advance, she indicated that there wasnt enough social distancing, and the lady standing there didnt have on a mask as required. The lady without the mask started arguing saying that it was her business that she didnt have on a mask. The clerks present (3 females) started to defend the lady without the mask. They tried to ridicule the customer who was concerned about the unmasked person. At no point did the clerks ask the unmasked person to leave, they permitted her to remain and continued to have a casual conversation with her about the concerned person.I wasnt surprised to witness this behavior in that particular location. However, I was surprised to witness it during this time of Covid-19. It is so unfortunate that this behavior was displayed in the presence of other customers. Clerks at that particular location could use some sensitivity training. They are permitting actions that could jeopardize the safety of others. This was an observation that I felt warranted the attention of the public through the media. It is simply unsafe to be in there at this time.

Getting packages to The Lakes has been hell since the Covid pandemic began. If the package is too big for cluster box employees scan held at post office at customer request (not true). So you have to wait in long slow lines. If it is small enough it can be delivered to your mailbox. Unfortunately my package was scanned as delivered to mailbox but I have not seen my package, 2 days prior it was scanned held at post office at customer request (never happened). Now I am having a hard time getting a refund. Find a better code to put in and take accountability for yoyr mistakes.

We ordered a gift for our granddaughter. When it arrived, I witnessed the mailman bent the bag in half breaking the cardboard box inside and destroying it, just to push it into the mailbox. I almost shattered the mailbox just to get it out. I called Southfield post office to complain but never got an apology.

If I could give this location a 0 stars I would. I work 5 minutes away and I’m currently late getting back to work I’m an HOUR lunch because the line was almost out the door with only two people working, very slowly. Almost every time I come to this location the service is terrible, and slower than any post office that I’ve been to a metro Detroit. The workers in this location don’t seem to have any sense of urgency, and less of a sense of customer service. I think I preferred to go to a post office that’s farther away to get better, and faster service. USPS needs to do a much better job of staffing.

This location consistently documents blatant lies about attempted deliveries of packages. Before COVID, the post office was to deliver a small package able to fit in my mailbox. The employee lied and documented my package was unable to be delivered and a tag was left on my door for me to pick up at the Southfield USPS building. Regular mail was delivered that day. Yesterday I had another small package set to be delivered from Amazon and more lies about delivery. This time my package could not be delivered because “front door/driveway was not accessible”. And again regular mail was delivered. My issue is not about receiving my packages on time, but the unprofessional and inaccurate documentation this location is now routinely using. I don’t understand the need to not be transparent and blame with such inaccuracies. Shameful.UPDATE 2/12/2021All I can say is WOW. See image. My residence does not have a front desk/reception/mail room. I quickly went up to the post office and investigate. After 10 minutes (1:40pm), they told me my package was now actually delivered by the carrier and called my husband to confirm. No apologies, no explanation about the carrier. Please stop this nonsense. Please stop lying. Your only job is to deliver mail/packages. It is not that hard.

Everytime I go to this location I am there at least 30 minutes. When I get to the front, the clerks are extremely rude and standoffish. Today, I went there to send off a package and the clerk actually scolded me repeatedly because I cut off too much of my shipping label and she couldnt tape it down.But, she ended up taping it down anyway. She proceeded to mumble things under her breath. I wont be attending this location anymore!!!

It has been several days since last mail delivery. This happens constantly pre COVID and currently. I receive the wrong mail and my mail has gone to neighbors who thankfully returned mail to me. The reason for delays especially packages is due to COVID per the response I have been given. This answer might fly, however poor service at this post office was happening prior to Covid. Horrible. They refused to deliver two of our packages, despite me signing the pink slip. They never came to the door and knocked, our apartment is literally 30 steps away from where the mailboxes are. They lost one of these packages and kept referring to our old apartment when my husband tried to pickup our package. We havent lived in the other apartment for over 2 years, we even filled out the vacant card sheet and the package STATING the correct apartment number.The carrier and the woman at the counter SHRUGGED at my husband when they couldnt find our package. The carrier even stated maybe I left it in the mail room. I made sure to contact Amazon after this and made USPS the lowest priority when receiving packages going forward and now have my packages being sent to my work. The post office was the same when we were in Vegas. If you can avoid using them as a carrier please do. I hope the government doesnt find a use for them soon or theyre downgraded to just letters. I HATE when I order something online and its through USPS. Constant problems every time. Going forward I will start asking the seller to please use UPS or FedEx.EDIT: Decided to take a risk and had a package sent to my apartment. I thought it was too big of a package for USPS but it sent through them anyway. I ordered this on 07/23/19, to be delivered 07/24/19. USPS received the item 8:30am 07/24/19, next update was at the same time and stated return to sender, customer could not pick up.Um, what? Had to contact Amazon again, who knows how many times at this point, and had a replacement sent. I cant tell you how many times Ive had to go back to Amazon to have a replacement sent. I decided to have it sent to my job, I wont take the risk again no matter how big the package is.Luckily we are moving soon so hopefully I can actually use Amazon again and get the things I paid for, delivered by a government funded service, that I again, pay for. I would like to note the carrier that comes on weekends is very pleasant and nice, I actually DO get packages if it happens to be on a weekend. I even reported this to the postmaster but I was met with excuses.

Went in to mail out my passport renewal. Women behind counter was very knowledgeable and we chatted about passport pictures and she told me I needed to track application. Then she chatted with my kids about being out of school for the summer etc. Before we left and she showed me how to track my letter another teller pulled out usps stickers crayons and coloring books for both kids. Very thoughtful and great customer service by both ladies.

A special employee named Tenia took the time and patience to walk me through it. Her friendly attitude was so helpful in making me comfortable in asking for help. Anytime a package gets sent through USPS, it is lost at this facility. The supervisor doesnt take missing items seriously. Been 3 weeks and still have not recieved a phone call back from her. Had to contact the package provider to begin a case with the sorting facility. Horrible post office. Horrible service.

Agreed with others this place is awful, zero customer service. I shipped a package Priority Mail on 5/18 to Southfield, MI. As of 5/28 the package was not delivered still. I called 1-800 USPS and they opened a claim and advised to contact Southfield USPS office directly. For the past 3 days I am calling the office and no one answers and VM box is full. I am very upset with USPS in general and will consider UPS or FedEx in future.

I wanted to say in support of the USPS services that are provided by this particular branch have in my experience been very good. I dont know what caused all of the other negative reviews, but in my dealings with this branch they have all ended with my complete satisfaction as a customer. I have had numerous parcels and packages that were successfully delivered or picked up at the post office its self without incident. I found the wait time in the lines to be very tolerable and the staff to be polite, efficient, and professional. So I want to commend them for a job well done in my opinion!

Recently went here twice, once to apply for a passport, and once to ship a package. I was wary because of the dismal reviews, but both times the service was fine. On my first trip, from taking a number to leaving, my passport application took ~20 minutes. I spent a comparable amount of time on my second visit shipping a package. Some of that time was my own fault, not having proper labeling applied (which they were happy enough to help me correct).

I changed our address on July 3, 2017. Our scheduled forward date was July 7, 2017. Today is July 22, 2017 and we still have not received any of our mail so I talked to our mail carrier. He says hes been returning our mail to the sender because we live on a street where our mail boxes have to be mounted at the street and that even if theres a box attached to the house they wont get their LAZY TAILS out of the mail truck to deliver our mail. So what exactly are you getting paid for? I let him know that there was mail addressed to the previous tenant in the box attached to the house when we moved here so is this a preference or a policy where you dont deliver mail unless theres a box at the street? He says its a policy and to discuss it with his manager. I go up to the post office and speak to the supervisor, he says theres nothing that can be done. I just have to buy a mail box and put it at the street. Im pissed the hell off because there is no way for me to determine who has sent us mail. We have bills and important mail that gets sent daily. Mail that needs to be delivered. The manager said that there may have been disabled tenants that lived here prior to us who couldnt get to the mail box so an exception was made. I understand that but why wouldnt you leave a note or something so we know that instead of just returning our mail. A simple warning that read get a box or your mail will be returned. SOMETHING. People are not human nor descent anymore and no one wants to do their jobs. Customer service isnt even a thing now. This is ridiculous. So now at 40 weeks pregnant due to deliver my son tomorrow I have to put in a hold mail request and PICK UP MY MAIL until we can get a box. UN FREAKIN BELIEVABLE. These are the kind of workers who work at the post offices these days. SOMETHING needs to be done about this.

Said our driveway was inaccessible. Not only was our driveway completely clear, I watched and no attempt was made at all. They sent all my packages to the same state and one week later my customers dont have their items. The WORST post office I have ever been to. The employees are rude, slow and act like you are inconveniencing them. There is always a long line and they never have more then 1-2 employees working, even during busy hours. If you can go to a different one close by, I would recommend it. Don’t waste your time here.

These people gave my mailbox key to the wrong person, despite requiring photo ID. Further, theyve lost numerous letters, packages, and medical bills. If you have a package that they do not deliver, they will not leave any notice, either. I am extremely displeased and specifically request all of my shipments not be sent via USPS because this location is so abysmal.

I admit I was expecting horrible service because of the below 2 star rating. When you see that you just dont expect to encounter 5 star people. This staff will forever remind me not to invest so much into what others say. This staff was incredible. I went in hoping to pick up a pkg that was scheduled to be delivered. They could have turned me away. Not only did they not turn me away but 2 people invested in my satisfaction and teamed up to go digging through big bins of boxes to find mine. They didnt even know if it was there or on the truck. They spent 10 mins or more digging through boxes so I would receive what I came in for. On top of that everyone was smiling, and talkative. They were nice to customers and to themselves. My experience was outstanding. I asked to speak with a supervisor to pay compliments to such a great environment. Meeting her showed me why the staff was dynamite. She was one of those people you imagine never has a bad day simply because she chooses joy, over pain. Great job. Thank you again for valuing my need, and being so welcoming.

Really bad I went down there and Pay $25 for new keys and they gave me wrong ones that won’t open the mailbox. It’s my 4th times coming in here & now they don’t pick up the phone no more . I sent some mails out didn’t reach destinations now I gotta pay late fees and the mails were returned but they don’t know what was the issue for it to be returned . I had to pay another envelope and shipping’s fees . Still didn’t get there . Very unprofessional I would give them negative -10 . 👎🏾👎🏾👎🏾👎🏾👎🏾

Warning!! If you ever have an issue with this post office, don’t expect them to handle your complaint seriously. In person, they will act like they care but there will never be follow up. Also-if you file an online complaint you can expect one of two things to happen: 1) you will get a phone call by a rude supervisor who will yell at you and tell you how wrong you are or 2) they will not call you but will put in their system that they resolved the issue. Employees at Southfield post office are master manipulators of their systems to show that they have adequate customer service but really, they are terrible. All I can say is there’s a reason this location has two stars. And that’s being generous.

If our mail even gets picked up, it doesnt always reach the destination. Late fees for bills you sent out but never left the facility even after being spoken to are infuriating. I havent even seen the carrier the last 2 business days and my packages have been there for days according to the tracking number.

This place is a joke they don’t even want to work and they have a major attitude. They make you feel they doing you a favor if you ask for anything. Very bad staff and supervisor. Is not a welcoming and good atmosphere.

A sender sent a package to me 2 day air almost a week ago. USPS claimed there was a delivery attempt. There was no notification of this on my door to verify a driver stopped by. I requested to have package left at this post office for me to pick up, no one there know where the package is. All Im getting is excuses from the supervisor. I just want my package. Extremely poor customer service. Inept staff.

The simple task of weighing a package accurately is apparently too difficult for the office staff. My package was mailed back to me later in the week due to insufficient postage. Thanks for the help guys 👏...O/1

Astonishingly poor (non-existent) customer service.agonizingly slow moving lines. no one answers the phone when you call. no one returns calls when you leave a message. there seems to be absolutely no accountability on any level.its stuff like this that makes people hate the government.if a privately owned business operated like this, it would NEVER survive.100% fail on every level

Absolutely horrific. I went in to mail out my US passport and the lady waited about 5 minutes after seeing me walk in to tell me I had to sign in. Signed in, two gentlemen in front of me. The 55 minutes I was there - they called one name. I went to the self service kiosk where I was greeted by another employee. She acted like I was inconveniencing her by being there, but was able to get my label and such printed and even offered to bring the package back and put it in the Priority Express bin (Well see if she actually did). Stay clear of this post office.

The tracking number website said they attempted to deliver and left a notice to reschedule. I was home all day and no one came. And there was no notice on the door. They lie to cover their butts. Now they wont answer the phone. Terrible public service. It needs to be privatized or put out of business.

This has to have the worst customer service in the entire country! My change of address was made 2.5 months ago, I am not only NOT getting mail to the old location Im NOT getting mail to my my new location! To top it off you cant ever speak to a supervisor (hiding in the back somewhere)and the so called assistant could care less about the issues and is rude and nasty with her bs attitude!!! However, there were ladies at the counter that showed empathy and kindness. My one star is for those clerks. Just dont ever need to talk to a duduvisor!

I have had the worst experience at this postal location today. First off my package wasn’t delivered to my home even though stating on the tracking info that it was delivered to my home just to find out it was delivered back to the post office ready for pick up. So I went to the post office to retrieve my package I was greeted but an woman with attitude like she didn’t want to help me at all, I asked for my package with my ID in hand politely she said the package wasn’t there I asked how do you know that she didn’t look anything up I showed her the info stating it was at this facility still gave attitude and no dam help. Needless to say no package and no energy to argue and fight with people just to mess up my day I’ll have to take a lost but this will be the first and last one I take.

Second package this week that has had delivery messed up by the carrier. USPS is making BS excuses for the pathetic service.Perhaps train your carriers better to actually read the addresses on the packages before tossing them at people and leaving.

Worst customer service ever, I have been to this location multiple times because it is near work. The wait times are unreal and the staff is consistently rude. The staff purposely moves as slow as possible, the fastest way to move in line is to wait until other customers get tired of waiting and leave. It is sad that the entire staff has zero pride in their work. it reminds me of Dave Chappelle show Pop Copy .

I had very little trouble mailing a box today, and at the end of the transaction I asked if my wife was in the correct line for passports. I was assured she was, and told to make sure we took a number. I went to wait with my wife, and took a number: 95. Their counter was on 88 with nobody around. We waited 80+ minutes, with a line queuing behind us, people giving up and leaving, more joining our wait. When the packages/mailing line grew short, many of the staff at the counter disappeared, leading us to believe there was no intention of addressing us. Eventually we too left, having never been helped.Im fairly certain anyone in the area would save time driving to another town, state, or possibly climate region for their post office needs.

Bad experience doing Passport in this office. Ebony who work there was rude and lack customer service skill. When I ask her questions about our Passport, she didnt want to answer me. She just gave me a rude NO and Yes answer. It seems that she didnt like her job and didnt want to be there. Manager should fire her or replace her.
