I used to live in Southfield and got my hair cut here all the time. I moved to Royal Oak 2 years ago and I tried almost every barber, including Detroit Grooming, local barbers, Art of Shaving, and Lady Janes. Vern at Edds barber shop has always done the best job out of any barber, and I will be going back to him from now on even though its out of the way. He is very meticulous and takes his time to give you the best haircut. He prefers appointments because it is just him there and he takes his time with his customers to do a good job. He is reasonably priced (much cheaper then Art of Shaving and Detroit Grooming) and he gives the absolute best hair cut.

Great place, Vern is a great barber. Ive been to many barbers and hes one of the best. When you walk in the place its very antiqueish and kind of nostalgic. When it comes to the haircut he takes his time and makes it perfect.

Walked in on my lunch break (though they prefer that you make an appointment).expect your cut to take exactly 30 minutes.Vern took my 8 months of growth down to job interview length in that time.

Engaging barber. Takes time to do an excellent job. Never a generic haircut.

Edd does a very good job. He is probably the most meticulous barber Ive ever had. One can tell he takes pride in his work. He seems to have a strange knack for cutting my hair in just such a way that takes attention away from the bald spot.His shop is also conveniently located, even within a reasonable walking distance from my office.There is only two bad things I can say: First he only takes cash. This day and age this is very odd to me, and incredibly inconvenient as I rarely carry cash. In my opinion his prices are also a bit high as its over $15 just for a regular hair cut.
