Cook Automotive Repair did an excellent job from explaining their services, verifying the repair I brought my vehicle in for and completing the work in a timely fashion.I spoke with Chad when I called the company. Chad demonstrated wonderful customer service from the first time I ever called the automotive repair company till I checked out. He kept me informed on my vehicles progress.Chad went above an beyond showing me a more quite area to work while I waited for my vehicle; the beyond part is, he brought out a collapsible table for my computer to be placed on to make it more comfortable to work knowing I had to stay while the repairs were completed.I feel even more comfortable for any future repair work my vehicle may need after this experience and highly recommend our LOCAL auto repair company, COOK AUTOMOTIVE REPAIR, South Lyon, MI.Job well done and thanks to the repair person who worked on my vehicle too.- Jennifer W
I had a great experience. They send pictures and videos so you can see/hear the problems they they are fixing. I have high confidence in their team, and my car was in and out quicker than expected. Ill definitely be going back.
Cook was absolutely wonderful to work with. I called around for quotes on getting my front brakes replaced, as well as an oil change. They had fair prices and were very kind and professional on the phone. The person I spoke with was knowledgeable and informative about the repairs and prices. They were able to get my truck in that evening, had the diagnostic ran by early morning and I had my truck with all the repairs within 24 hours. Even though I brought my truck in for brakes, they did a full check on fluids and function. They presented their findings and offered their services, but were never pushy or rude. I will definitely be returning again with all of our family vehicles when they need service. Thank you Cook Automotive Repair!
Our sons suv needed new brakes all around. Dropped his vehicle off on a Thursday night and picked it up the following Monday early evening. Place looks very nice from the outside! Out the door for under $800.
I have been going there for several years and have always had wonderful service.
The entire team at Cook Auto Repair is awesome. You are greeted, by phone and in person, with kindness and warmth. Brandon provided excellent customer service. He not only found the issue that needed repair but also worked until he found the root cause of the issue. He kept me informed every step of the way and did it while being kind and relatable. Brandon also informed of service that would be needed in the near future but did not try to convince it was necessary now. The team at Cook Auto Repair cares about their customers. I was referred to Cook Auto Repair and Brandon. I will gladly do the same. I highly recommend Cook Auto Repair for all of your vehicle repair needs.
Just wanted to say that this shop is great! I’m only 17 and they were up front about everything with me. They gave me an estimate of about 4 days to replace the struts, tires, and even an alignment. These guys actually got it done a day early and they were busy, unlike some shops where they lie to you and take advantage. Also the price wasn’t horrible. So thank you guys for a great experience.
My whole family uses this repair shop. They are the only AAA-approved shop nearby, so you get a small discount if you are a member. Prices are a little high, but commensurate with this community. Due to popularity the wait time to get an appointment can several days.
AAA listed repair shop in my area. Always good to my kids who have older cars and so are frequent users. They seem trust worthy about what needs to be repaired and will downgrade price if when they get in the problem less severe than expected.
They were able to get me in the next day for a major repair. Chad was thorough, professional, and accommodating. Its a bit of a drive for me to come here, but I am strongly considering making this my go-to shop. I cannot recommend this place highly enough!
Would recommend Cook automotive to anybody! Very good at what they do and all very reputable people. Have taken care of my vehicle for a couple of years now. Never any issues. Honest and hard-working group!
Great place to do business with.
I went in for a rear brake check. They ran diagnostics that afternoon and I brought my car back the next morning (they had to order the parts). Everything was completed in just over an hour and the price was $100 less than what I was quoted to have the same repair at a dealership. The staff was great...friendly and professional. The facility was very clean. I was working on my laptop while waiting and one staff member who saw me sitting there brought out a folding desk for me to use saying Id probably be more comfortable...talk about great customer service. Looks like I found my new service spot!!! One very happy customer 😀
I went in there expecting to pay 700 bucks if not more, I drove out of the parking lot paying less than 250 with all issues resolved and my truck running great. I usually don’t take my vehicles to shops but cook does fantastic work.
Don’t being your car here !!!! I’m warning you; all you will end up with is more problems.
Great service!! Thank for installing my ford mustang GT shift nob!
They take to long to get you in for a appointment
I always go to Cook. I trust their work and suggestions and they are not pushy or trying to sell you unnecessary repairs/ parts.
Nice friendly people.. gave me info on another problem soon needing repair. Thanks guys
Best customer service in my life time
They were very understanding to my concerns when working with an older vehicle and helped me understand some options to help get by. The other great thing is that have records of all my past repairs. The was so helpful.
Very professional and honest service. They will tell you in detail what is going on with your car. They then give you all of the options to fix the problem. Theyve always stood behind their work. Im very impressed by their shop and will keep recommending them to people. Keep up the great work!
I was referred to them by a friend. Will from now on only use this shop and refer people to them .
Took my car here twice, and Ive had issues both times. The first time was for some engine work, specifically the flex plate, but they damaged a control arm while towing from a different shop who couldnt do the initial work. (They blamed AAA for damaging it during its first tow to the first shop, even though it was a flat bed tow that I had been present for, and insisted I pay for the damage.) Second time I dropped it off was for some brake and suspension work while I was on my honeymoon. After working on the car for three or four days, they called us to let us know the work was done but the engine had problems they recommended being fixed immediately (not sure why they didnt call us when they started work, but this seems to be a pattern with them.) As my car hadnt flashed the check engine light in over a year, and I had no problems with it running, we opted to skip the engine work for the moment since we werent sure what they were referring to. When I finally picked up my car (which again, had been running smoothly with the exception of the brakes) it was stuttering and misfiring HORRIBLY. They claimed it was running like that when they got it, and sometimes stuff in engines just falls apart all of a sudden. They offered to work on it immediately AND recommended additional work that since were already in there, we might as well do it etc, but once again insisted this was my fault, not theirs. 1.5 weeks after initial drop off, I finally get my car - but wait! THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WENT OFF WITHIN TEN MILES OF DRIVING IT OFF THEIR LOT. Its still leaking oil, has jerky acceleration (I park my car nightly in a heated garage), and rattles loudly while idling. Long story short, dont waste your money on these crooks, they will absolutely find ways to make you pay more than what you need done.
I worked with Chad over at Cook Automotive Repair. He was pleasant to work with start to finish while getting a leveling kit installed on my SUV. Reasonable labor rates and great quality service. My vehicle was dropped off, worked on, and ready for pick up in exactly the amount of time they estimated they would have it for. It was totally worth driving the few extra miles out of the town where I live to have my vehicle worked on. Thanks for everything, I will happily be a return customer for any of my future automotive needs!
These guys are amazing! The mechanics do extremely thorough investigations on any sounds that are brought to their attention, and they always use quality parts. Cook Automotive also stands very strongly by their work and warranties both the parts and labor. I wouldn’t trust any other shop with my car.
Be careful of what you get charged for. If you get work done on your vehicle which when completed would require balancing wheels/tires or performing an alignment, they will charge you not only for said work, but also for the other (which had to be done regardless). Be careful out there, folks.
They had a longer wait time than some competitors, but it was worth the wait. The employees were very upfront with their estimates. They inspected my brakes and gave me a rating so I could judge how bad they were. They could have easily told me that I needed everything replaced and overcharged me for service, but they were very straightforward and told me honestly what I needed to replace and what I didnt. They didnt charge an inspection fee for a problem I encountered intermittently but didnt manifest itself during their test drives since they couldnt diagnose it. They called and communicated well about the progress on my cars repairs. I really appreciated their service. Thank you, Cooks!
Hands down the know how go to shop! Simply the best, service reliable at a fair price. Nobody touched my car but Cook Automotive!
I had my radiator coolant leaking and the team at cook auto scheduled a time for my car to get inspected while I was at work and ended up calling me to give me a quote, and was able to finish the job the same day (all while I was at work)! I know its not always a possibility due to time schedules with other repairs, but Im so grateful for them fixing my car so quickly. Professional service and honest pricing-My dad had stopped in and paid the total amount up front and when I went to go pick up my car, they said they actually overcharged me as the original quote included a product/service that they later determined they didnt need. These guys are honest people! Love it. Thank you Cook Auto!
Havent had this kind of customer service from a company in a long time. Austin was great at listening and taking his time of explaining. And not making you feel rushed or stressed . Would and Will return for service.
I have used Cook on a number of occasions to diagnose and repair the cars we own and have always had great service. Fair honest prices, good clean work and have never tried to up sell anything that was not needed. Keep up the great work!
Never have had bad service here and they are always honest with the work.
Excellent service!! It was my first time there and I will absolutely go back. Went in for brakes and thought I needed all 4 rotors replaced. They were very upfront and honest. Turns out I only needed the rears. They could have very easily told me I needed all 4 and I would have been non the wiser. Great experience overall. I went based on the great reviews, and Im glad I did. Ill be back.
Best auto repair I have found. They are honest, never oversell and do great work!
Very reasonable & honest.
Fantastic experience! Some of the nicest people I’ve met they went above and beyond. Saved me 1300$ when my vehicle was wrongly diagnosed... I won’t go anywhere else.
My experience with this place was amazing! They truly care about the customer. We pulled in afterhours with a flat tire down to the rim. They didnt hesitate to help and change our tire. I dont know what we would have done without them, we would have been stranded on the side of the road with a horse trailer for who knows how long. They had us in and out quickly and were so kind! I am so grateful for them and cannot say thank you enough!!!
Called crying on Friday around noon, car just stopped while driving. Got it towed and they called me by 3 with diagnosis and price. Back working much better than before Monday at 1pm. Alternator seized just under 400$ with oil change. I just have to thank them for the compassion they had with me while I was hysterical. The font desk guys were amazingly kind and understanding. I’ve had my car fixed at many places but never received customer service this great. I actually felt better knowing they were on top of things and actually felt like they cared. Thank you front the bottom of my heart!
0 stars would be assigned if that was possible.Disappointed and very upset. This situation occurred only yesterday. It is to the best of my recollection. We had a vehicle in for brakes. We had the vehicle back shortly after for a smell coming from the left rear. According to them, no problem found. Of course, they charged us $44, which we did not pay as the smell never went away. This car sits around a lot and never exceeds 5k miles a year. A few months later (1000-2000 miles) there was a horrendous noise from the left rear. Pretty sure it was a brake problem. I was unhappy, not only for them not identifying the problem when it was brought back, but also because they put our family in jeopardy. I was, and am, very upset. When you put my family at risk, it gets personal. Now they tell me the caliper is bad. This also took out the rotor and pads. I told them I would pay for the caliper, but not a new rotor and pads as we had indicated there was a problem shortly after the original repair. They felt I was out of line and would not agree to making repairs. Knowing the level of skill and dedication at this facility, we agreed and took our business elsewhere. In my opinion, You should too.
After they took such great care of my parents vehicles I decided to take my car there and I now wont go anywhere else for repairs. I have a decent amount of knowledge when it comes to my vehicle and I greatly appreciate how Austin talks me through what is wrong with the vehicles and gave me reasonable options for repairs. They have worked on several things on my vehicle and not once have I had to take it back due to reoccurring issues....unlike other places. I would recommend them to anyone!
I cannot say enough great things about their shop. Ive gone to them for years now, and have always had honest advice and fair prices. I recommend them very often!
I have been a multiple time customer of cooks and spent a couple of thousand dollars there and have been fairly satisfied. However I stopped by there to get help just to swap balls on a trailer hitch to get my son moved they told me maybe by the end of the day! Literally a 30 second job to help me out and they wouldnt. I will never take any of my vehicle there and will make sure my friends and family know too.DThanks for the great service
Helpful and polite advisers. Facility was very nice and clean. Definitely a go to spot in the area.
Excellent professional speedy service as usual!
Great service and very honest and upfront. Took my car into there with a maintenance issue, when they saw that the care was fine they did not charge me. Very honest, not just making things up for the money.
They are all very nice and super helpful. And not looking to take advantage of people
Wont take my car anywhere else. Stand behind what they do. Very reasonable prices.
Great service!!
I took my Grand Cherokee in on a Wednesday for a noise that might have been a drive shaft. I finally got it back a week later, which I had to call and complain, to have CV joint repaired.Ive heard a few good, and quite a few bad things about the place, after I took it in.I wont be returning.
Be very careful of this place. I went in for a Oil change and tire rotation they quoted me $31. I dropped the car off at 8am. By 3 pm i had called 3 times and finally said i have to come and pickup the car. At the counter when i dropped the car off i asked if they could read the check engine code. They said sure not a problem. Never mentioned that they would end up adding $44.50 to the invoice when picking the car up for diagnostic charge and then never once calling me to say what it would take t fix the check engine light. It takes 2 min to check engine codes and auto zone will do it fro free. So i paid $44.50 to get a piece of paper that said what they would charge $227.32 to replace an EGR value. They have a sign in the the building saying they would provide a quote for anything over $20 obviously they do not practice what they preach. I would find another place or make sure and ask them exactly what they are going to charge you so there are no surprises because they are not upfront and honest enough to tell you that to your face.
Ive been taking my vehicles here since they opened. Its family owned and very professional. They have very competitive pricing and do good work. Ive had the owner talk me out of unnecessary repairs to save me money. Find me another mechanic shop that will do that.
No BS at this place. Thanks guys!
Car was idling rough and overheating....recommended service was done....now car barely runs at all. Ran much better before tune up...car not driveable and was told to wait a WEEK to get it looked at. Do yourself a favor and avoid this place like the plague. Minus 5 stars.
These people are a blessing! Good hearted, hard working, and affordable! I am so grateful for these people.
Water pump and serpentine belt replaced same day at a fair price. Did not have to drop car off to be diagnosed - they did it while I waited the previous day and had parts ready to go next day. What more could you want?
I needed front end work done on my car. I was called and was told what was wrong with it and gave the ok to do the work. The next day they called and said it was ready but they forgot to tell me my backing plate for my brakes was also broke and that they had to take my front end back apart to fix it. They said it would be another couple hundred dollars to do that! I refused, pretty sure they broke it during repairs and tried to make me pay for it. After about a thousand dollars of work my car now rattles when it drives, which it never did before. This is a LARGE shop, all the five stars reviews must be from friends and family of the workers. Trust me look for another auto repair company. They tried to take advantage of me, and I dont want it to happen to anybody else!
I have taken my car to Cook auto repair in the past and was satisfied. However, today I called to get a general idea for the cost of a part and the call was never returned. I called back several hours later and I was put off by the way I was talked to on the phone. It was if I was bothering this person. He seemed to want nothing to do with this simple repair. Sorry guys, but you need to be much more professional on the phone. I dont need to call for service and have someone with an attitude on the other end of the phone.
Great customer service facility very clean first-time customer definitely well recommend my friends to them
Very good auto repair shop. Honest & dependable
Great service and prices
Havent had any major repairs done but the service is very quick, professional and the prices are very reasonable. It Is also the cheapest place I have found to get tires mounted and balanced.
Im witnessing quite possibly the best customer service I have ever seen; some 5-star resorts included. While Ive only had my vehicles oil changed here twice, I would bring my vehicle here for diagnostics and service without any hesitation. Ive heard them thoroughly explain (in laymen terms) what is going on with someones vehicle, what needs to be done to resolve it, and an estimated time. They are extremely professional and customer conscious. When something happens to someones car it is usually costly and annoying to deal with - they handle every personality with care.
This is an awesome place to get routine maintenance for your vehicle...say Hi to Austin
Great work Fair prices. No B.S.
I was a bit suprised, they say they are reasonable .....3000.00 does not fall under that heading 😣
Made an appointment on Monday for an oil change and brake fluid change on Fri at 9 am. I was told that it would take appx 2 hrs. So, I asked them to give me a ride home to wait. At 1 pm, I called to ask when they were going to pick me up. I was told that they had not even looked at the car!I went to the South Lyon Tire ctr were they were able to work on the car right away and for less money than what Cook wanted. Moral: go to South Lyon Tire for SERVICE! Tell Eric I sent you.
When Norms was rude, tuffys tried to scam and over charge me, and Walmart auto center was just plain awful, cooks was there to save the day!! Ill never go anywhere else for auto service. They were kind, explained every thing they planned to do to the last detail, and helped me plan ahead. They even gave me a ride home while my car was being repaired!!! Love you guys!!!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Good place for auto repairs
Great place they were the only ones that could figure out I had a bad ecm
Great service, reasonable prices
GREAT staff, very professional!!!
They are okay I wouldnt say they are the best. I think Ill be looking to go somewhere else.
It took them A day and a half to get an estimate which ended up being outrageously high$$$. I will let all my rich friends know.
Living the worst case scenarioDay 1: I took my Taurus in because the A/C wasnt working. I was told that it would be $100 to recharge it and that they would check for leaks, etc. OK.Day 2: We are told that some repairs are needed and that the total would now be $300 and that now the A/C will be great and will be checked and confirmed. Fine. The car is ready that evening and we drive it home. Wife drives it home and A/C doesnt work.Day 3: We take it back first thing in the morning--lovin that road construction delay each way. Austin apologizes and promises a swift fix. Later Im told that it was a defective part they installed that caused the problem. We get the car back and while the wife is driving it home it starts smoking under the hood and the A/C still doesnt work. I open the hood to the delightful smell of burnt fluids and smoke. We limp the car back to Cooks and Austin begins to tell me how thorough he and his operations are. I assert that Ill have to come back to get my car on Day 4 and that they PLEASE check their work. Then I hear that the additional cost to fix the A/C will be at least $500 and as much as $900. Am I in the Twilight Zone?Day 4: We pick up the car that now has a seized A/C condenser. Were writing off Cooks as a $300 life lesson. Oh, but wait.Day 7: The ole Taurus wont run after starting--first time ever in the 5 years weve owned it. I limp it over to a mechanic in South Lyon that can be TRUSTED by drop shifting into idle/drive and revving the engine to keep it over 1,000 rpm before it stalls. South Lyon Police just happen to be right behind me at the downtown light just to add to the fun. As I turn right onto 10 mile the tires chirp from my drop shift back into drive with the revved engine. SLPD ignores this thank God.Day 8: Theres a reasonable chance that the stress caused by the seized A/C led to these other complications. At least now Im getting useful information from someone who obviously knows what theyre doing. Whats missing are the finely pressed shirts the 2 sales reps wear at Cooks. I also notice theres no fancy frapacupamachiatochino type coffee machine--less overhead expense. Finally, the car will be fixed the right way.Cook offered NO refund or discount for their service but the other home town mechanic was more than reasonable. Lesson learned.
Honest and great to work with
Very professional
Always very professional and upfront.
HONEST, HARD WORKING SHOP!
Quick friendly service.
Always been great and fast
My new auto repair place! Super staff!
Wont take my car anywhere else to get serviced!
