Cant say enough fantastic things about Hilltop Automotive! Genuine, friendly customer service. Very willing to go the extra mile to explain an issue and what that issue needs to be fixed properly. Extremely knowledgeable and thorough and the job gets done right so you leave with confidence knowing it has been completed well. I have taken three different vehicles here over the course of the last 11 months and the third one was just for an evaluation of issues (many issues!) and they did not even charge for the evaluation! Very impressed with Hilltop! They are honest, dependable, friendly and do great work!!

I brought my car here earlier this year for a diagnosis, Justin and his team were very friendly and honest! They told me what was wrong with my car, but also which things were actually important to be fixed and which things could wait. They didn’t charge me for the diagnosis, even though I wasn’t sure if I’d move forward with the repairs. When I did decide to have some repairs done, they kept me in the loop if they encountered any issues and how much longer it would take them, and when a certain part they ordered didn’t come in on time they didn’t even charge me for it because they felt bad it was going to take a little longer. I will definitely be bringing my car back here for future repairs!!

Hilltop Auto replaced the head gasket on our Subaru. When the head gasket needed repairing again, Hilltop Auto replaced the head gasket after the warranty had expired.

I have been taking cars to Hilltop Auto for over a dozen years when my limited auto maintenance knowledge was exceeded. They have always offered expert advice and help at fair prices. I highly recommend them when you have a car issue and help is needed.

I recently took my truck in to have fuel filter changed. Upon picking up truck after hours, it wouldnt start which was concerning as shop was closed, and my ride needed to be on their way. Fortunately, a mechanic was still there closing up (the one who worked on my truck), and spent 45 minutes to get it started and running correctly. Apparently they had installed a bad filter (seal) which created the issue.Though I appreciate very much the mechanic working so late on my truck after hours (until about 8pm), it was just good luck they were still on site and able to resolve.Hopefully moving forward Hill Top will be sure to thoroughly test all vehicles / workmanship (no matter how simple the job), as well ad ensure quality of product theyre using.

I recently took a vehicle in for service to QHA, and they did spend some time and thought they had fixed it. Shortly thereafter the problem reemerged, and I returned to the shop where the new owner found the problem, and reimbursed me for what I had previously spent. I had known and done business with the previous owner for a long time, and I am delighted that he has turned the helm over to an honest and good mechanic! A few weeks later I took my son’s car in for some major engine repair, and the same results, a great job at a fair price. I will be returning with any automotive issues I face, and recommending them to anyone in need.

He said their diagnoses sounded suspicious and sure enough, it was something completely different and less expensive!Now there is only one place I take our vehicles, even if it means waiting to get in.Hilltop automotive...honest, dependable, high quality work. It reflects the character of the owner, ...and word does get around!

Watch out for bait and switch tactics. I called Hilltop about a front wheel bearing replacement on my Toyota FJ Cruiser. Joe said that Toyota’s were their number one type of car they worked on and he talked about the extensive experience they had working on their 4 Runners and 4x4 vehicles. He made me feel confident that the knew exactly what was necessary to repair the problem. Joe provided me with a quote for $471.37 and that was a fair amount below another shop. I was a little surprised and wanted to be sure it included everything I needed. I mentioned that the other shop said their quote was for replacing both the bearing and wheel hub assembly. Joe confirmed that his quote included that. I then asked for confirmation that the $471.37 price included everything I would need except tax to which Joe said yes. I felt great and was looking forward to doing business with Hilltop because they are my local shop and had lots of good reviews emphasizing their honesty. When I arrived, Justin checked me in and said they would confirm that my wheel bearing was bad and call me before doing the work. When Justin called he confirmed the problem and then mentioned that they saw some other things they would recommend doing. This included saying my transmission fluid looked dark and they recommended replacing that. He also said my rear brake pads were getting thin, my engine air filter was very dirty, and asked about the last time I changed the oil change. While I appreciated the suggestions I had not asked him to look into any of these things. He also told me about the possibility that my wheel bearing repair would require the hub part which was an additional $124. When I explained that Joe had quoted me based on both parts he said that only part written down was the bearing. He also said that Joe was not there and did not offer to discuss the discrepancy with Joe. I told him that this entire experience felt very much like a bait and switch. It is very frustrating to get once price and then once they are in possession of your car be told about the potential for the repair to cost more especially when I was very clear up front to confirm there would be no additional costs. It might be excusable if Joe was new but it is clear from other reviews that Joe has been around a long time and has plenty of experience quoting repairs. At this point my level of trust was low but I agreed to do the work on the condition that if they felt the hub did need to be repaired that they would show me the part. Instead of agreeing, Justin responded that he no longer wanted to work on my car and asked me to pick it up. This made me even more suspicious and convinced that they would have found any reason to replace the other part to increase their price. It seemed that if they couldn’t make significantly more on my car than the original $471 they quoted me then they just didn’t want my business. Sadly, had I been quoted this full price in the beginning I would have gladly had them do the work. And Justin seemed like a very nice guy that I would have enjoyed doing business with.

I took my Honda Pilot to Hilltop Automotive for radiator check due to slow cooling leak. They did some test and found the engine is in good shape and there was a pin hole leak in the radiator. These guys did a throurough test and fixed the issue the same day. Very good explanation of what was needed. I was very satisfy with their work that I took my Honda back for more routine maintenance work. I will bring my Audi and Honda to these guys from now on. Very hard to find quality service like Hilltop Automotive. They are honest and fair. Justin and the staff are very professional and friendly also.

Growing up I my dad was my mechanic and always fixed my car. Then I moved away to another state and went through a few different mechanics that I just didn’t feel like they were being honest with me and always tried to do more than requested making me think something else was always wrong. Took our car to Justin after having a different garage try to fix for over 6 months. Hillside diagnosed part of the problem and clearly explained the second problem related to the transmission and recommended I take it to a dedicated transmission shop. Id much prefer taking to another shop rather than having Hillside try to repair something not entirely in their realm of capability. I will return with no hesitation the next time I have a need for service.

Joe Sullivan and his team of mechanics are rare in this industry. They combine both the mechanical know-how to efficiently repair your car and with great customer service and care. Often its one or the other; never both!I appreciate them letting me know what needs to be done now for safety reasons, but also what can wait until further down the road. Updated review:I am on the fence with a mixed experience but Joe, the owner, did reach out to me regarding the issues and seems genuinely sincere in his commitment to customer service and likely earned the shop another chance in my book.In short, I have had my vehicle there twice and while they did fix the issue that I took it there for originally, I received it back with issues that didn’t exist before they worked on it leading to the second visit. Their price for quoted services is on par with other shops and the review would be positive if I didnt need to take it back for the engine miss-fire and now leaky radiator.Specifically, I had a Ford in to fix a manifold issue. The job was completed below the comparable quoted dealer cost and on the mark for what they quoted me. However, when I picked up the vehicle, it had an engine miss that wasnt there before I took it in. Apparently it now needed spark plugs at a tune of $500 and the radiator is leaking for another $700. Since neither issues existed before they worked on it, I have to wonder. Moreover, if they had test drove the vehicle before giving it back they would have detected the issues. These issues were immediately evident on the initial drive home from the shop, but since I picked it up after hours they were not immediately available to address the concerns. Since they are not the most convenient shop for me (but came highly recommended which is the reason I went out of my way in the first place), I was not able to bring the vehicle back immediately. Ultimately did I end up taking it back.In working around the engine, I suspect that the radiator may have been bumped or jostled. I understand that it is a 9 year old vehicle and things go wrong. I am not sure if the plugs, which were past their expected life, would have needed to be replaced or not at that time if they had not worked on the engine, but the timing seemed more than coincidental. Likewise, had the engine miss issue been brought up on the first go around it would have saved me from having to take it back a second time. Also, it was the original radiator and I would not necessarily expect it to be replaced free of charge, but to not own up to it and then subsequently quote me the full replacement cost left a bitter taste.

Hilltop has worked on several of my cars, all with great results. Doing the factory service on my 4 year old Subaru Forester saved me money and their warranty is amazing. Myself and my parents have taken our cars here for the last several years with 100% positive experiences.

A friend recommended Hilltop Automotive to us about 5 years ago. Since then, weve had about 10 interactions with them on 3 different cars. Joe, Mike and the rest of the crew have always been truthful and fair to us. They stand behind their work; a part they had installed on our van failed maybe 6-8 months later, and they replaced it with no charge to us at all. Were lucky to live so close to them, but even if we moved, we would make the drive to Hilltop. I honestly cant imagine taking our cars anywhere else.

I had been told by my now previous auto mechanic that my car was urgently in need of almost $800 worth of repairs. A good friend told me about Hilltop and suggested I take it in there to get a second opinion. Justin looked over my car, pronounced it in good condition and then carefully explained the issues that had been identified by my previous mechanic. Not only were the issues not pressing, they in no way jeopardized the safety or long term reliability of my car. Its quite possible that Hilltop Automotive in Snohomish is one of the few remaining truly honest auto repair shops in the area. I recommend them whole heartedly.

I have utilized Joe auto services for many years and find that he always discusses any additional work with me prior to proceeding. Joe has now chosen to sell his repair shop to Justin.I took my car into Hilltop Automotive for routine maintenance and also let them know about an annoying sound that only occurred when going over traffic calming speed bumps in my residential neighborhood. Justin was now the new owner. He checked out the front end joints and found them to be sound and secure and advised not spending extra money looking for the sound. I felt this to be practical and agreed.Months later my wife and I decided we did not want to put up with the sound further, and took it back specifically to address the sound issue, which can be very tough to find at times. They asked up front if I would be willing to spend $900 potentially, and I said I would like it to be investigated again.I got a call later from Justin who was test driving the car and was not hearing any noises when going over bumps near his business. I told him the noise was occurring every time going over the bumps in my neighborhood and asked him to come over. He drove the 15 minutes to my home, picked me up, and we proceeded to drive over speed bumps. There was no sound any more. Justin said he had tightened a skid plate prior to the test drive and we concluded that this action had fixed the noise issue. I was grateful for the fix and told him I would pay him at the shop. He said I also had a license plate light out. I asked him to go ahead and replace it. After all this effort he shocking said, No Charge. The new owner has my trust, just like Joe did. I highly recommend Hilltop Automotive.

I was considering buying a car and took it in to get it inspected. They found that the car had major problems so I was really glad I took it in. Cant recommend these guys highly enough. I normally do my own small time car maintenance but with 2 babies in the house I decided to pay up and let these guys replace the rear brakes on our car. I guess after 149K miles regular maintenance job can get outta hand. It took more than 1 trip back to the shop after the brakes started smoking on the road but they got it fixed. Heres the integrity part: After paying for labor on first trip, they didnt charge me another nickel for labor again until everything related to those rear brakes was completed. I would only request next time that they at least let me pay for all the necessary new parts on my car cos i want them to stay in business a long time.- A grateful and impressed customer
