Our family of 4, including a 12 and 10 year old, fished with Captain Mike for the 2nd time this past June. We had an amazing two days, catching King salmon, halibut, rock fish and even a ling cod. Caught our max both days and flew home with nearly 150lbs of fish! We love how Mike and Mark embrace having our children on board, even down to providing fish anatomy lessons. Captain Mike and his cocaptain Eric are first rate and I highly recommend them. They know how to fish! There is always action going on in the boat. If it’s slow for just a little bit they can switch to a different fishing methods to entice a bite or they will go to a new spot for a different species of fish. Their actions produced fish! The day went really fast because of all the action and all the fish caught. I hope we can make this an annual event! Last point. We caught a monster halibut and instantly Captain Mike offered his commercial fishing license as a way to keep it since it was oversized for our fishing license. We ended up declining but what an experience to see the bigger fish. It was almost 6 feet long and we released it unharmed so it could produce more fish for future trips.

My 4 brothers and I wanted to take our dad, who just turned turned 72, on a special fishing trip in Alaska. The 3 days we spent with Mike and his crew was one of the best outdoor experiences our family has ever had together, it was absolutely incredible. A great experience always aboard the Sea Roamer! Captain Mike and First Mate Erik do everything in their power to make sure you have the best experience. They bait the hooks, take care of the fish, teach you the best methods, clean and package your catch, feed you lunch, show you wildlife and amazing scenery, and create a fun atmosphere for whatever banter youre into. If you want to do more of the work yourself, no problem. They let you get involved. You want to relax and just reel in fish? No problem as theyll take care of you. The boat was also very well kept up with and definitely one of the bigger ones that we saw out on the water around us. Open layout and plenty of room to move around in order to reel in monster salmon! The pod of humpback whales we saw feeding this year was an amazing experience that I wont forget. My Dad and brothers and I went Fishing to Sitka this summer and were recommended to Sea Roamer Charters. Mike and Erik were awesome and this was the best Fishing Charter I have ever done. The trip was amazing, it was more then I had ever imagined, I went out only expecting to catch halibut and rockfish but we ended up limiting on king salmon, lingcod, rockfish, and halibut. This was my first time fishing in Alaska, and must say it was the best fishing experience of my life. I had one goal for my fishing trip - come home with a cooler FULL of Halibut. Mike made it happen! Despite the rainy day and rough seas that were potentially going to stop us from hitting Halibut grounds, Mike navigated a route that brought us safely to a great spot. After living on the Kenai for 30 years I finally made it to Sitka. Fishing with Sitka Sea Roamers Charters was delightful. Capt. Mike and deck mate Mark asked what we wanted in a trip and made it happen. We limited out on salmon, halibut, ling cod and rock fish. What a day it was on the Sea Roamer. The coho were running hot and they were big and beautiful. We limited out on kings and dont forget the rockfish and black bass! Capt Mike and his right hand man Mark are the perfect odd couple. They work hard and fish harder! Plus they get you involved with down rigging while another client is fishing free hand off the bow. They make you feel apart of the crew. The Sea Roamer is very cozy and steady in unstable water. Plus on the way back they have a place to nap or lay down underneath the bow. My fishing buddies and I have been chartering Sea Roamer with Capt Mike and Eric for years. We always get fish. This summer we fished the third week of July and caught our fair share of kings, silvers, halibut, rockfish, yellow eye and black cod. The Sea Roamer is a very nice boat and comfortable regardless of weather conditions. These guys work very hard to get you to the fish and know what they are doing. What a fantastic charter trip my family and I had. Captain Mike and his assistant Erik is by far the best we have ever experienced. King salmon, halibut and rock fish were caught. We saw sea lion rookeries, bird estuaries, and whales as well as the mountains and scenery Sitka is famous for. The boat is so very comfortable and easy to fish out of even with some semi-rough seas on one day. We certainly will fish on the Sea Roamer again when the opportunity arises.

My father (82) and I booked a four day charter in mid-July, the end of king season and the beginning of Coho season. Over the course of the four days our coho catch was at least as good as any of the other boats our there. We caught our limit of kings, lingcod, halibut, and yellow eye. Mike and Eric have a sixth sense for finding and hooking fish!!!In addition to the fishing Mike and Eric are kind, friendly and helpful. They took special care of my father who needed a bit of assistance getting around their spacious boat.Mike took us to some special places and made sure that we were able to enjoy local wildlife including humpback whales and puffins.I highly recommend the Sea Roamer and Captain Mike. We had the BEST fishing experience ever with Capt. Mike! The boat is VERY comfortable and clean. Mike brought lunch and had everything we could want on the boat. Fishing SitkaThe scenery, the boat ride and Captains’ Mike and Eric make the price of admission well worthwhile. Mike and 2nd Capt. Eric were great. They made me and my group right at home on the Sea Roamer, which has got to be one of the best charter boats around. Plenty of space, with a dinette table with room to spare for us four burley guys, and that aluminum catamaran just slices through the water. Rods & reels were first rate. The last time we came to Sitka, our charter ran out of bait one of our days. No issues with the Sea Roamer. If you want to catch fish AND have the ability to get wherever you want to go, in comfort, theres no other choice.

My experience was exceptional. Michael was incredibly competent and his deckhand was a marine biologist, incredibly overqualified for the job. He was great. I liked him. overall, i liked the whole experience.

My husband, adult son and two friends spent 3 days fishing with Mike on the Sea Roamer.Mike is energetic, upbeat, very personable, knowledgeable, and patient with beginners. Best charter experience I’ve had! The crew was very professional and always on top of making sure they were doing all they could to help us catch fish. It was the best time fish I have ever had!

I fished in Alaska for the first time this year 2018 on the Sea Roamer with Mike Reif and first mate Eric. Mike has the most comfortable boat I have ever fish on whether fishing, sight seeing or just riding. Handled the seas amazingly well. They put us on the fish too. I would use him again.

Our group has had the privilege of chartering the Sea Roamer for many years with Captain Reif and his associate Erik (who also has Captains credentials). They facilitate great accommodations and have been committed to a successful trip. Their demonstrated “catching results” make it compelling for us to again reserve another trip for 2022.
