I liked the boat captains and the lodge crew a lot. It helped that we caught a lot of fish too!

Wow. Wife and I just got back from fishing with Kains fishing adventures. What an awesome experience. Everything was as it should be and then some. Service at the lodge was impeccable. If you have a big appetite this is the place for you. The chef is just that a chef not just a cook. Lodge staff courteous and professional Meeting every request and need that we had. The rooms very comfortable and Impeccably clean with a good mattress which is always important to me.Then theres the important part the fishing fishing was 1st rate captain and deckhand really know their business and got the job done every day. Again friendly and courteous and helpful in every way for those on the boat with experience and those that dont know so much about fishing. The fishing gear was 1st rate no junk on that boat. Our experience was perfect in every way and cant wait to plan next years trip.

My father took multiple trips from CA up to Sitka along with several buddies for multiple years (well into his 80’s) on fishing excursions and he so enjoyed it. He only went with Kain’s! He passed away yesterday age 86 and I know for my dad, Sitka and fishing was —and now is — his heaven! Thank you for giving him such happy memories!

Group of 4 fishers hit our limits almost every day (of 3 day trip) in late August. Salmon, halibut, rockfish, and even a ling cod. Guides knew the area extremely well and got us where there fish were, took care of every aspect of bait & tackle so any skill level from beginner on up could be successful. Fish fillets are sealed, frozen, and packed in 50lb boxes and dropped off at the airport for you at your departure (so you can ship it home as checked-baggage.) Lodge is clean and comfortable, nothing fancy, but then we came to spend most of our time fishing. Operation is run like clockwork: they give you a wake-up knock on the door, eat breakfast, get shuttled about 2 minutes drive to the marina, head out to sea for the day (sandwich and snacks provided on the boat). Back to the lodge around 4:00 for appetizers and then dinner. Dinner is phenomenal, seriously some of the best food Ive ever had! Great trip and I highly recommend them.

Top notch. Hit our limits everyday. Amazing crew on the boat, and incredible dinners at the lodge. If youre coming to fish, this is the place. 4 of us, 3 days fishing brought back almost 500 pounds of Salmon, Halibut and Rockfish. The crew and hospitality make this one stand out above the rest.

Our group of five and often six avid fishermen from California, discouraged with drought and empty giant lakes started Kains back in 2013, and we have just returned from our fourth year. Previously, we have stayed at lodges in Gustavus and Glacier Bay, but never experienced the OVERALL excellence that Kains offers: starting with amenities, housing, attention to you needs, fleet and equipment, icing fish, preparation, handling, shipping and lastly...fabulous dining at a marvelous lodge. I cannot rate it higher as 5 stars is all there is, but if you really value your time and wish to return with 150 pounds of two-portion flash-frozen, vacuum packed, labeled packets of 3-4 species of salmon, 6+ species of rockfish and one 40 pound halibut a day....this experience, I would say, cannot be found anywhere else.

Im leaving in three days for my forth year with Kains and I cant wait! The level of service is unmatched in every area. The guides are amazing. They know their waters so well its fun to watch them hunt down the fish. The best story I can share.. we were trying to get our ling cod, he was looking at his depth finder when he hit reverse, backed up a little, told us to get our gear down to a specific depth and within a couple minutes we had 5 ling in the boat....ALL within the size limit. These guides make all the difference in your success, book your trip with Kains.

The team at Kains is an amazing group professional and personable people, from the host Michelle, the wait staff Vickie and Heather, to the chef Chuck. The experience at Kains could not have been better. The captain Evan and deck hand Taylor were spot on with every aspect of catching fish. This adventure was way more than just a boat ride to go fishing. The enthusiasm Taylor has about catching fish exceeded that of us that were fishing. We all caught fish and had an awesome experience. I will be fishing with this team again. DONT let the lack of reviews about this company sway your decision, they are just more about catching fish and giving you an awesome experience than running the internet game. Regardless of your fishing abilities or experience level, this team will be sending you home with fish and stories for a lifetime. If you are going to fish out of Sitka use Kains

Third year at Kains having been to other Alaska fishing venues before during past 15 years. Our guys are completely loyal to the standard of excellence that Greg Kain and hostess Michelle have established in Sitka. The lodge, accommodations, cuisine, happy hour, rods/reels, boats, deck hands, fish-icing, instant cleaning, packing, proximity to the ocean, knowledge of captains, boots, raingear and all the rest are simply the finest and coming home with two-person vacuum-packed, flash frozen packs of King, Silver Salmon, Ling, black bass, yellow eye and halibut...usually 150 pounds per man at conservative value $20/pound comes to $3,000 worth of fabulous eating, not counting the invaluable memories and Alaskan adventure. Priceless and worth it beyond belief.
