When the WSP YMCA closed I lost my outdoor Olympic size pool. So glad to have access to Shoreview! The best part about the Y are the classes and flexibility to use other YMCA locations in the cities.
I love my personal trainer. The facility is always clean and many of the front desk people are nice.Great pools, indoor and out door.
Pleasant experience at the Shoreview Y pool. Clean, not overcrowded. Diving board is fun!
To corowded people just dont have enough space to swim in with half the pool being closed off with 2 pr 3 lanes for swimming laps not fir at all especially for the elderly that dont need the high risk of getting covid and everyone swimming over and on top of everyone its pretty annoying and unreal
Disappointed because I made a reservation for the shallow water class at 9;00 and when i got to the Y they had no reservation for me or another guest that was there. I have been a member for a very long time and enjoy the water exercise classes. Whats the problem?
It was pretty nice in there. Went for a basketball game.
It’s in a great location and the staff are always helpful and friendly!
The Shoreview Y is a very safe place to work out or take a class. Protocols are followed to keep everyone safe.
Has been a great go-to for noon hoops. Also has a nice weight area and pool (though I havent used). Seems well attended by many age groups. Friendly staff.
I really enjoy Shoreview Y. Great place to workout.
I enjoy my time at the SHOREVIEW Y every time I visit!
Comfortable place to get a workout. They have an indoor track and full equipment room.
Worst YMCA! We registered for a class and drove 40 minutes to get here. They refused to let us in. They refused to show me the new policy that said we couldnt attend because we were a few min late. Sara was rude and unapologetic. The large blond working at 9am rolled her eyes and shook her head at us.
Love the outdoor pool!
Called ahead of time to bring my 3yr old swimming and was informed that without a membership it would be $10. No problem I did the same thing last year when we came to swim but wasn’t sure how it would be with everything going on with COVID-19. Drove to the location and had someone tell me we were not allowed to swim without a membership and that they never allowed it so I must be confused with where I took my son later year will no I’m not confused and definitely remember since I have actual videos and pictures of us swimming here on multiple occasions.
Staff and Instructors are very friendly and kind and the place feels so clean:)Due to COVID we cannot use our guest passes, which is a bummer, but I hope everything goes back to normal soon.
Love this place.
The front desk staff seem to hate their jobs possibly their lives
I dont care for the reservation system
All the way from our 5 day trial to 3 weeks in this place has been super. The outdoor pool is a clincher! It was pretty dirty once but it has been stellar. Consistently able to swim laps, get in the toddler pool or jump around in the big pool with the kiddos. The family changing room is clean but the showers do not warm up much. The staff here is terrific. They begin to recognize you quite quickly and the daycare center has been fabulous. I know kids bump into each other, but the complaints I’ve heard are not reasonable. The staff works hard and cares about those kiddos. Classes are solid and scaffolded for many different levels. I feel challenged and supported. The best part is sipping on a coffee after a workout when I have a few minutes to pick up the kiddos. All in all this YMCA is rad!
We have had our kids in swimming lessons here, and used the indoor pool for the free swim. We have been very happy with the patient, well qualified teachers, and the progress they have made. The changing rooms are clean and bright.
A very spacious and comfortable place. The staff greets you each day and everyone is very friendly.
Kids love swimming
We love this YMCA and the staff are great! We hope to return soon after COVID19! We miss this place
I love the yoga and tabata classes and their instructors. I also like the open workout area a lot because of the variety of machines. Some of the staff are strict and the pool is a little dirty are my only complaints
People do NOT follow the rules here and staff dont enforce them. Little kids play on the running track unsupervised, couples walk side by side making it difficult for runners to maintain a fast pace, people take a rest on the weight machines without letting others use them, etc, etc. I shouldnt have to be the Ys enforcer after what I pay for membership each month.
Nice and clean facility. My only complaint is the same I have with many locations I visit: needs more fans in the cardio area for a cross breeze, the fans on the treadmills are not enough!
Nice gym. Good location. Outdoor pool. Variety of classes offered. Basketball, life guard training, yoga, aerobics and a comfortable atmosphere make this a great neighborhood spot but of course all others are welcome as well.
Great outdoor pool with slides and diving boards. Kiddie pool is zero entry and has features. Be sure to check the website for the schedule!
This is a great Y. I really like all the trainers and employees. The classes are fantastic and its great to have an indoor and outdoor pool. The only downside is that theres not enough room in the main part of the building. They recently remodeled and now its hard to find a spot to do a weightlifting or an ab workout. They need a big more space and itd be perfect.
Nice place to work out, everyone is friendly and the equipment is first rate.
I went today for my nieces 1st birthday, front desk had 5 employees 3 of which just sitting in back not helping check people in... Ive never been to this place didnt not know where to go and I was asked to sign in than I had to ask several times where to go for the party, was told upstairs in room! So my daughter and I had to look for it on our ownDuring the party the girls that were helping with bounce house and room were very sweet and helpfulOther than that definitely not the best place for a birthday partyMy daughter did have alot if fun in bounce house
I love the outside pool. It helps keep the summer fun.In the winter the work out room is inviting, the machines are well kept and the staff is always welcoming.
Great yoga classes, staff, and facility. Love that they have coffee too! The only negatives are that theres no hot tub and its always over crowded. Really wish theyd build another Y in the area.
Pretty decent gym, the building is a bit old but in good condition. They have a good spread of cardiovascular machines, weight room, gym, running track, indoor pool and various classes. My wife and I have memberships and so far we have had good experience every time we visit.
Everything is clean, I witnessed an emergency the staff really quick with response
This place has a great community and great service. Im always greeted with kindness and am always told to have a great night when i leave. The hoopers here are also pretty cool. Theyll teach you and are pretty chill. Its a good place if you want to get a hooping session in or if you want to practice alone.
Taking my son here for basketball... had a great time
A very nice location with a friendly staff. The outdoor pool is awesome! This is the first y location Ive ever been to with no whirlpool, which is disappointing, but its still a very nice y.
Love my YMCA! Will be even more awesome when they renovate.
I go to the Shoreview YMCA at least twice a week to take a yoga, pilates, or balance and flex class. The facility is very clean, the staff is friendly, and parking is free. So impressed by the variety of classes offered, and the quality of the instructors. Top notch place to exercise, learn how to swim, do yoga, weight training, etc. My husband is also a member and when we go together, he uses the cardio and weight equipment and is also very pleased with what the Y has to offer.
I have been a member for 6 years, and in the past, equipment was attended to well. But recently, even after the staff was notified about problems, the problems were allowed to continue and have even become exacerbated.
I love going there. I love the childcare folks and how great they are and I LOVE THE POOL
Good facilities for working out including large indoor lap pool, fitness room, several exercise classrooms, basketball courts and indoor track.Definitely a family oriented facility.
Great place to work out. The y has large dressing rooms, a 25 foot indoor pool, a Olympic sized outdoor pool, and a large field for sports, along with its workout area. YMCA offers a variety of classes for everyone. The only downside is that it comes with a steep membership fee.
Terrible management. I see the same people who always slam their weights from waist level when deadlifting and yell The most management does is tell them to be quiet when I know multiple people have complained but a year later they’re still here doing this here with no consequences. This is not a CrossFit gym they disturb everyone else in the very small weight area.
Not too bad just a little pricey and that lady that works on the front desk always has a frown and was mean to me and my sisters I don’t know if she’s still there I haven’t seen her these days
Everyone is wonderful here! Great customer service, extremely clean, there are TONS of group exercise classes. The outdoor pool is HUGE and there are very few outdoor pools in the area.
I have never been treated so badly by customer service staff...won’t be back
I loved this place because they have a wading pool!
Have a good selection of machines for cardio and strength training. It feels a bit cramped at times. The building feels dated. The staff are always friendly. They have a pool and an indoor track.
Lacks space for body weight exercises, stretching, etc but its a popular gym in the area. Youll learn a schedule of when its too packed to do which workouts. Love the fitness classes and the staff is nice
I would rather work out in the on hot pavement with snakes and scorpions at my feet then EVER go here. First off the people up front or atleast the lady I dealt with was the most rude person I think Ive ever encountered. . It bordered on feeling like I was being singled out. . Next was price, this gym is tiny, and doesnt have 1/2 of what you would get for paying that same amount at lifetime fitness SERIOUSLY. the YMCA is supposed to be a safe place for kids and familys, well if you can afford 100+ a month you can feel pretty safe that the only other people in there are the same as you. . No thanks, no way.
Nice clean Y with many machine.
There is so much to love about this Y!The child care staff are out of this world. Many of them love kids and its easy to see they enjoy working there. The free group classes are very well taught by great instructors. Ive enjoyed Yoga, Body Pump, HIIT, Boot Camp, etc. Classes are challenging and I always walk out having had a great workout. The cardio and weight machines are well maintained, clean and often moved around which helps prevent boredom. The only reason I didnt give this particular Y 5 stars is because theres a few things Id really like to have. Currently there is no hot tub which is really important to me. Not having a hot tub is a deal breaker for my wife and so she has a gym membership elsewhere. Its also a small thing but the Y charges for a towel service.Id really like it if someone would offer Cross Fit classes. Im surprised with the popularity that the Y doesnt offer CF yet. And finally, I pay $66/month which I believe is too much. I think $45/month wild be very reasonable.Other than that this place is spot on! Ive had my membership a few years and Ill continue as long as I can!
Ive been using the Y on a frequent basis since 6/1/16. Professional staff. Clean. Good class schedule. I look forward to going each day.
This is the closest YMCA to my house. It is fairly clean and not too busy. The clientele is mostly retired people.
Staff are great, quality exercise classes and a great place to gain friends
Love this place. The facility is a little dated. It the staff are amazing. The kids care is an incredible bonus!
Great staff. Weight room is a little lacking with some machines and many of the barbells are slightly bent. Other than that I like this place
I love this Y, outdoor pool is the best. They have great childcare and an outdoor play ground for the kids too.
Staff is great and classes fun. The gym needs major attention and repair.
I love the Shoreview Y! The outdoor pool is awesome. They have great staff and many options for fitness....
Great staff! A wonderful workout facility for all ages! Exceptional outdoor pool!
Its good, the indoor pool area is a little small, but I love that they have an outdoor 50 meter pool, that is always fun to swim in. They also have a pretty cool weight room.
I use the YMCA mostly for its gym and this one has had its fair share of upgrades. Though they are lacking in a few machines it really is enough for anyone to get a good workout in.
Had fun bringing the workout equipment
Probably one of the best YMCAs in the twin cities area. Newer facility, good machine variety, good weights. Not as packed full of other people as compared to other YMCAs
Great outdoor pool for all ages!
Very nice outdoor pool. Busy on warm summer afternoons.
Outdoor pool aerobics classes wonderful with Instructors Dianne and Pat.
Ive been coming here for over 8 years and have never been treated so poorly before. The fitness manager Christine really has made the fitness area a negative enivorment for me and several other members. The department ironically is losing some of its best trainers too. I left a comment and emailed her supervisor directly about these concerns and never heard back.Update 2/6/2019: Upper and middle fitness managment has been replaced and its been a much better enviroment.
Very friendly staff, awesome outdoor pool. Very clean!
Variety of workout machines, great drop-in classes. The staff is friendly and helpful
The best outdoor pool and lifeguards
Nice outdoor pool and diving well. Indoor pool is a bit claustrophobic. Life guard staff are a bit hyper vigilant so it resembles a police state.
Great parking. Friendly people that make you feel welcomed!
50m outdoor pool is great in the summer.
The outside full length Olympic pool is awesome for doing laps in the summer.
Pretty good nice staff nice slide and amazing indoor and outdoor pool
Great hit and tabata classes. Nice swimming pool too.
One of my favorite Y locations
I love this location. Friendly, clean, inviting and enjoyable to visit
Swimming lessons/instructors are fantastic! Great facility. Super nice staff!
Excellent outdoor pool. Ample equipment, friendly members.
This a great place because its YMCA, the building might be one of the oldest they have.
The 50 meter outdoor pool is awesome during the summer months.
Horrible customer service. No response from manager when we ran into an issue. Different visitor procedures based on whos with you and who is working. Plus very small. Track seems unsafe. Do better.
Love the big outdoor pool durring the summer.
My main ymca. I love coming here, especially to play noon basketball.
My home away from home. The Kids Stuff staff people are a particular highlight
Definitely in my top 5 favorite Ys in the Twin Cities. Great cardio/weights area, indoor track, outdoor pool for when the weather is nice... only thing I would complain about is the small number of lanes in the indoor pool.
Staff are alright. I love how big the workout and cardio room is.
Excellent facilities and great staff and classes.
Great community. Love the outdoor pool!
Not as nice or big as some of the other YMCAs in the Twin cities, but overall its got everything you need and is perfect for families.
Good for summer visit
Great pool areas. Plus classes for swimming
Nice out door pool only bad thing is that there is only one lane reserved for family swimmer with kids there is a splash pad up top and a diving board
