Is it possible to give less than one star? That is what a previous customer wrote in their review. I agree!I am fairly new to Oregon and had no idea the standards and regulations for recycling. Everyone from this area continually repeats to me that the recycling is free here! Really? Nothing is free. We do not even get garbage service but we seem to constantly receive bills that become outstanding. Due to the fact that you have to pay for your small red box of glass twice a month. Which we rarely even put out. I have tried more than a few times to call, left messages, asked about payment plans etc.. No. To no avail except sending me to creditors for a bill of $66.00. Now my husband is furious with me of course. I would gladly pay this and be done with them. But, you can’t get a hold of them so good luck! They give Oregon a bad name and another reason why it is difficult to try and become a satisfied home owner in Oregon.

I wish I could change garbage disposal companies. These people dont clean up their mess like dropped glass on the road or even pick up all of our garbage. We cant ask for a refund, we dont have any choice!

Is it possible to give less than one star? Monopoly for pickup so you have no choice so this review really doesnt matter. They sporadically just decide to not pick up the trash if the lid is open a little. Last week is was open a few inches..picked it up fine...dumped some on the ground so I had to clean it up, but picked it up. This week looks the same and now all of a sudden no pick up. Rules are rules but inconsistency is inconsistency. Pick a way and go. Not like we have a choice for pickup. Terrible company.

They have an efficient recycling program. You do need to pay for some items such as paper shredding and battery disposal, but all listed on their website. With Covid they have even switched so you can just pay the recycling attendant. Much more efficient.

Pride disposal has been very timely and consistent at our home. I appreciate their responsive customer service and the convenience of setup and later of switching our garbage bin size. My 2 year old daughter loves to watch the trucks come by!

I would give Pride disposal 0 stars except for the fact that they do perform their service adequately. Customer service, however is desperately lacking. I suppose since we have no choice but to use their service they dont care to make the experience pleasant. For one thing, the bill is PAST DUE before it arrives in my mailbox. Never before have I had what I consider to be a utility service have payment due so immediately, not only that....miss the payment by about a month out and they cancel your service, THEN charge you a $25 fee to reinstate it. They didnt have to actually DO anything to reinstate it mind you, like actually come out and bring bins as they were already here.I realize this review will do nothing as they have their designated service area monopoly and that wont change. I also rarely leave reviews, but this has been such a horrendous ongoing experience with these dirt bags that Im just compelled to.

No garbage / recycling pickup due to weather - then change their phone message on new pickup dates, will not give credit for missed days, you can put out extra if you have it for no charge.. sure wish we had Valley West Garbage Service back. They would at least work with you and make things right.. Bigger is not better..

This week (Tuesday) garbage collector forgot to pick up our yard waste. I called Pride office late afternoon and the lady said its too late to pick up today but somebody would pick up on Thursday. And truly, the truck came on Thursday and picked up our garbage. Its wonderful that they did what they were supposed to do. I am very happy now.

We pay on time every month but yet can’t get recycling picked up for FOUR weeks. I called and spoke to someone last week who seemed surprised and advised us to place our recycled items in a box next to our bin. We did that and guess what- they didn’t pick it up and instead it’s now blown all over the property which might I add, borders the Tualatin River. I will do my best to pick up this debree before it hits the river but seriously- come on. Do your job; because it has a larger impact then you realize!!!

Great billing model. Pride didnt pick up our regular recycle this last week or glass recycling, which is monthly. When I called and asked about it, the lady told me that it was part of my garbage fee. I said yes, but you didnt perform the service, dont I get a credit? She said it is part of your garbage fee. Again, I repeated the credit question. A robot response. Clearly, they run into this all the time. Bottom line, no service provided, too bad, move on to the next week and no credit for lack of performance. Amazing. In no other business model, that I can think of, do you get paid for services not performed. No notice, no communication. My glass is totally full, no service but full charge. I guess we go another month!

In addition to being a great company and always helpful and courteous, this morning I took my 2 year old Daughter outside to watch the recycling truck in action. The operator noticed us watching and stopped to bring her a mini recycling bin toy. Thank you to the operator for taking time out of his busy morning to make my Daughters morning so fun!

This company is so actively involved in the community AND it is so accessible to its customers. Always friendly and helpful from the front office staff to the drivers, to the business office and the recycling manager. Also being new to Sherwood I am impressed with the newsletter - showed me exactly where they need the cans, with a schedule for the holidays that was clear. Great communication.

Generally okay and consistent service. I didnt catch the price increase any my bill pay didnt cover the whole amount. An overdue notice follows and no trash pickup, no notice. *Update. It looks like the driver just missed our stop that day, as the account was still being serviced.

The reviews I read on this site are disgusting. I had service for well over 18 years - until the recent death of my wife - that was always reliable, on time, courteous, and never a problem. We have had a great experience with Pride. They are easy to get in touch with and the drivers are great. Today, Bob stopped to say hello to my 2.5 y/o son who waits for him every week. Bob gave him a mini garbage can that he can play with. My son is over the moon!

I would like to have the management at Pride Disposal thank the young man who picked up our yard recycling today, Monday, November 4th. A rather large amount of the material fell out of the container and into the street. He took the time and spent the effort to clean up the mess. All the neighbors in this area try to keep our properties and all surrounding areas in good, clean order. His efforts are much appreciated.

Rossman sanitary service provided weekly yard debris, recycling, and garbage pick up at my last house in Clackamas county at a better price that Pride. Pride only offers every-other-week yard debris pick up, and if you order a second can you have to make a year commitment. If you have once monthly garbage pick up, you need to schedule it to coincide with recycling and yard debris pick up or youre out of luck. Rossman allows weekly recycling at no extra charge even if only using once a month garbage pick up. Pride does not promote recycling or yard debris use. Unfortunately the city chooses the service for us, so we are hostage to the monopoly.I scheduled for a mattress to be picked up from my driveway. They gave me a date but said they couldnt give me a time window for pick up. I put it out at 7am. When I called at 1250pm, they said the truck had come by at 653 and I was out of luck until the following week. So now I have a rain soaked mattress to deal with until then. The girl on the phone insisted she would have told me to have it out by 6, but I guarantee if I had been told the window was 6-12, the mattress would have been out before 6am. Pride does not give a cluck.

We had a pile of dirt/yard debris in our backyard that we wanted to get rid of, so we called around to try and find the cheapest option. Our first thought was to rent a truck at Home Depot and pay a dump fee to a local landscaping supply store. We decided to call Pride to see how much it would cost for a temporary container to dispose of the dirt. We called and were told it would cost $300. It was a little more expensive than renting the truck and dumping, but much less of a hassle since we could just move it from the back yard to the container in front. We just got a bill for an additional $222 for daily fees, a pick up fee, a drop off fee, etc., that were not discussed when we asked for the price. They have now reduced our bill but it’s absolutely ridiculous that we are going to have to pay hundreds more because they failed to disclose the true cost even when explicitly asked. We will be looking for a new garbage disposal company because they refuse to make things right. I am so frustrated and feel much like they are taking advantage of us.Update: After weeks and weeks of trying to reach the manager, we finally got to speak on the phone. All charges beyond the $300 were dropped because it was stated to us as a flat fee and no paperwork to confirm our order was sent to us (they said they tried sending it, but they sent it to a random email address rather than ours). Although it took a ridiculous amount of effort on our part (and it absolutely should not have), I am glad that it has finally been resolved. That said, we will not be ordering another drop box or using any additional services from this company because their policies are unclear and their communication is lacking.

Amazing customer service, I totally admit I dropped the ball and dreaded calling them to ask if they had already been by to collect our can. Just had to cancel my service. To many missed pick ups and after a convoluted explanation about billing cycles I found out I was being charge for the month in advance. What! If you dont pick up my can I shouldnt be charge at all bottom line! They really need some competition. Only then will residences realize what theyve really be paying for

I was happy with my trash service for 5+ years and never had a single issue where I had to talk to them. This new company comes in and I have had to contact them at least twice a month for different issues. First they wanted to charge me and my neighbor 60 per month to drive 150ft up our driveway where our trash has ALWAYS been picked up. After they realized they were in the wrong and they are REQUIRED to pick up if the mailbox is in your driveway, they finally conceded and started doing it, but thats when they wanted to charge 60 bucks, after much debate, they finally decided to split 30 bucks in half for me and my neighbor to pay, which is still a ripoff, but better than the robbery they had planned. I wish 0 star ratings existed. This company proves the need.

They do not miss the pickups. I asked if they can stop by for my sons birthday, and they send a goody bag. It was really nice of them. For me as a customer whose trash container is only 1/4th full every week, it is not very cost friendly.

Had to call customer service about our business yard debris can not being picked up for a couple of weeks. Karen in the commercial customer service was helpful and friendly. She was able to communicate with the driver and dispatch and now there should be no more issues. I appreciate that she gave me an option to hold or receive a call back. Nice to be able to get a real person to talk to and have the issue resolved.

Pride is worthless!!!! Cancelled our service since we moved. Asked them to pick up our cans and they picked up all but one recycle bin. Said it was wrong serial number. Found out our neighbor had our bin and had them put it out so that Pride would pick it up. I have called two weeks in a row to ensure they’d pick it up and they have still not picked it up. I am tired of calling and it’s such a scam as Pride is trying to charge me $50 for the bin. It’s literally sitting along the road and has been there for two weeks and they won’t pick it up!!!! I cancelled auto pay as I will refuse to pay these scammers!!! Their gal in the office told me to call the police and claim it was stolen if I didn’t want to be charged for the recycle bin and then provide them with a report number from the police. What are waste and such a shame companies like these have zero competition.

The service was always on time and didnt have a single problem with this company while a customer. What made me decide to write a review was the customer service I received after I moved. I had to move in a hurry and left the cans outside to be picked up. After I let Pride know to pick the cans up, the landlord decided to put my cans back inside the garage and not tell me. After receiving a bill for the missing cans I emailed pride to find out what happened. I had been moved out almost 3 weeks at that point and my phone had been shut off. I received a response from a lady named Kristen letting me know they werent able to pick up the cans because they werent there. Distraught I didnt know what to do or how I was going to find these cans. Kristen went out of her way to call my old landlord for me and ask about the cans and set up a pick up with them. I greatly appreciate her help in resolving the issue. Thanks again Kristen!

For a long time we had valley west family owned disposal company they were considerate on time and decently priced with a variety of options to choose from. Pride recently bought them out and I wish they wouldnt. The trash cans are small they charge you extra if your lid isnt closed. If trash falls on the ground at pick up they leave it. They are bot considerate when it comes to customer service. Prices are ridiculous when it comes what you are actaully paying for. I really wish valley west took more consideration into selling.

First, it has to be difficult running a disposal company. People put their trash in the wrong places, they forget to put it out and ask the company to circle back, they accidentally disposed of something valuable, etc., etc.Pride Disposal takes it in stride and they do the best they can. They are out there in weather we wont go out in. They pick up things we wouldnt. And, if you happen to be at the curb when they are picking up, you will find they are friendly, kind people just doing their jobs.What more should one want?

Have never had a bad experience with them and when I needed a yard debris dropped off, it was there the next day. They are always on time. Their website is easy to use and I pay on-line every time. Their prices are reasonable, compared to other companies.

We have been really happy with pride since moving into their area 4 years ago. Easy to schedule drop box and friendly customer service. Night and day from the hillsboro trash service we had before who were terrible.As a plus, if we’re home when the bins are picked up my toddler daughter is extremely excited to watch the trucks and the drivers always smile and wave which she loves.

This company is definitely all about money and zero customer service. We had Valley and were forced to switch to pride. They charge for an additional bag if the lid is not completely closed. Valley never charged if the lid was propped up a couple inches. And the new cart we received from them has about 20% unusable space based on the square design. They don’t care.

If I had any other choice for disposal services, I would choose it. Based upon conversations with my neighbors, I strongly suspect that if they did not have exclusivity in our area that they would be forced to alter their business practices to be competitive.I have had several different disposal services before, but never have I seen such an anti-customer mindset. They mount cameras on every truck to prove that they are correct, and have no flexibility at all in their policies. The customer is never right, only Pride Disposal.I will say that they are fairly inexpensive as a service, but I suppose in this case you get what you pay for.

The best disposal company we have ever had. They always communicated with us about changes, always showed up when scheduled and always worked with us if we had a special need. When we moved in, the previous renters were frat boys. They left us a giant pile of glass alcohol containers & a yard full of random trash. Pride helped us get it all cleared away as quickly as possible over the course of the first month. And this is the biggest strength of this company from my point of view: the lovely people who work there. EVERYONE on the Pride side is polite, professional, courteous and concerned. They listen carefully and respond specifically to requests or concerns. I didnt always get exactly what I wanted when I wanted it, but I was always happy because I knew we were working together. I will miss this company very much when we move!

Contractors beware:I ordered a dumpster to be picked up at my job location. The driver mentioned it was overweight. We asked him to tilt the box so we could off load the extra weight. Instead the driver dumped the entire load in the street. Costing me time and money. I was then forced to order two more boxes to reload the extra weight. And charged for the original box and tonnage. (Thankfully the other box charges were dropped).Dispatch then told me the truck had a faulty scale. But, according to another Pride employee, it turns out that the company operates all their trucks with scales known to give inaccurate readings and charges are based on those false readings.I asked for a good business adjustment on the final bill because of the extra cost I incurred due to the inaccurate reading. They insist this is how they use this information to base their charges and there is no adjustment to the final cost. Isnt charging customers based on known false information fraud?

I am really pleased to have a service that picks up our recyclables, trash, glass and yard waste. They are consistent and timely. If you have other large or small items that need to be disposed of, all you have to do is schedule a pick up. Their service is something we should all appreciate! I certainly do!

Not sure if theres been a change in management or what...but this company is the opposite of every other recycling company. While most companies are getting easier to use and lowering costs, this company is getting harder and harder to use and the cost keeps going up. I used to brag when I travelled about my home states recycling program...now other places are getting better and better and we are getting worse. Pride didnt take my oversized cardboard yesterday because I left it in the red bin Ive been putting it in for 15 years and apparently thats for glass only now. I was told Im supposed to just set on the ground (so it blows down the hill and winds up in someones front yard), and apparently the driver can only pick it up off the ground and not out of the bin SMH.

This business isnt awful, but they wont be winning any awards anytime soon. Customer service is actually great IMHO when you talk to people on the phone, but there are other issues. Ive had brush in the brown bin that wasnt picked up for three weeks in a row, and when I called, I was told that the driver said he was there at 2:00 and the bin wasnt there. I remember perfectly that I took the bin back by the side of my house at 4:45, because I looked at the oven clock before I went outside. (Maybe I should have taken a photo with my phone and emailed it to them??) The online payment system is far from easy to figure out, and I pay all my bills online if possible, so I can compare it to others that work better. Overall-- not that bad, but it would be nice if there were other services to choose from.

I have lived in Beaverton for 1 year now and havent had any problems with Pride Disposal. They are more affordable compared to Portland. I have never been charged a fee and if I have too much yard debris I just store it in a separate container until the yard debris container is emptied. I do hope in the future a composting services is added. I just hope that it is optional and well thought out. I feel Portland has failed to really educate people on composting.

I was working in Tigard and yes, I was blocking a trash can. While I didnt see the garbage truck as I was on my knees, looking inside a hole, he yelled towards my direction letting me know I was blocking his can. He got out and took his can and proceeded to empty it with his truck.He was obviously mad! He then got out of his truck and put it directly behind me which is now in my way.Pride Disposal, your customer service is top notch if you want your drivers grumpy and yelling at customers. If you pride yourself on that service, hats off to you.Im sorry that I was the first person to EVER block a trash can. Dont give this driver a Portland City route. Terrible company. I wish Waste Management would take over. These people are rude and nasty. They do not provide their RATES AND FEES on their website, they are bait and switch, and the sad thing is . . . since they are the assigned trash company the consumer/customer has NO CHOICE! This is what happens when one company is allowed to control an area . . . poor service, rate bait and switches, nasty customer service. Absolutely the WORST MONOPOLY Ive come across.I live in a relatively small town and I can never get ahold of them, concerning their multiple errors on billing, their online bill pay is about the worst log in experience Ive ever had. And to mention, they have actually spent time and money to insert liners into 30 gallon trash cans that cuts it down to 20 gallons and charge nearly exactly the same. Its a racket! Plain and simple. If I had any other choice I would take it, even if their pick up guy got to slap me every trash day I would take it........................... Wow! Try living some where else where the trucks are loud, smelly, and days late.............scatter trash, and lifted cans so high they the broke cable lines. With this CITY COMPANY many times the cans are left on their sides or in the street. You have to live with old containers no matter the shape. They are there early in the mornings when most of us are still in bed. Wish they could allow us to put styrofoam in the recycling since it is srtill being recycled. Also to have more dates to drop off items at the schools or other places, parking lots, etc. but they are appreciated.

I took some cardboard boxes to Pride to be re-cycled. One of the boxed had one fist full of wadded newspaper in it. (Literally the equivalent of about 7 pieces of newspaper.) I was told that I could not put the very small amount of paper in the co-mingle box without a $5 charge. Absurd!!! Ive been a Pride customer for years. I wish we had an alternative.This in reply to Prides response below: Absurd!!! Im talking paper just enough to fill a teacup!! Your employees should be able to make the call to allow a few sheets of errant newspaper that happens to be in a box. I know there are rules, but to be ssssooooooo stringent as not to allow the few sheets (Literally a tiny, tiny bit - Im talking TINY! About 7 half sheets of newsprint.) to a paying customer during a recycle stop is ludicrous. Yes, there are rules. But this equates to getting a speeding ticket for going 55.1 MPH in a 55 MPH zone. How would you feel Pride if one of your trucks got a speeding ticket for going 1/10th of a mile per hour over the speed limit? Even police have discretion to use their brain and common sense. I think you should be ashamed of yourselves and I dont say this lightly.I believe my days of being a kind, careful and considerate re-cycler are over. I bend over backwards to make your guys job easier. I carefully place my bins on our odd little street to make it easier for your truck to pick them up. I carefully and thoughtfully sort every last piece of un-acceptable recycle so it doesnt end up in the blue can. Ill even take out glass from my neighbors re-cycle bin as not to cause you folks issues. Im done being so careful and respectful of you as you folks obviously cant show a little respect to your paying, cautious and careful customer.

Wow... and not in a good way! So out of the blue we get a yard debris can delivered that we did not order, so I figured no problem they made a mistake no biggie. I call to let them know that we did not order this can. So what do they do... not only take it but they also take our garbage and recycle can at the same time. Not impressed.

Appalling Customer Service!!!!!! DO NOT SIGN UP FOR THEIR AUTOPAY - You cant get out of it unless you die or send a hand written letter from your mom. And then when your payment SHOWS UP ON THE DAY ITS DUE they attempt to charge a cancelled autopay bank account and HAVE THE BALLS TO CHARGE YOU A $25 FEE for them charging your cancelled auto pay bank account two days prior of the bill being due!! Really!! And yes as stated before in other reviews they have you by the short hairs and DONT EVEN PRETEND TO CARE about their illogical business practice that has COMPLETE disregard of their customers!

These guys forgot to pick up our trash on Thursday. We called on Friday and they claimed it was marked as picked up. They refused to send anyone out to get it before Monday. Upset, because its full and they lied about picking it up, we asked for a refund (its not the first time this has happened) and were told point blank they would not. If they werent a monopoly in Hillsboro, wed drop them like a hot rock.EDIT/UPDATE: Your canned response is useless. Weve asked the city to find someone else. Hopefully theyll take action.

Had a rude and aggressive driver take pictures and video of me without my consent on private property for an alleged code violation. Driver couldnt reference any specific code violations and answered in vague terms. He refused to answer most of my questions. He was a lousy representation of a professional company.

We called about our half dead 16 year old trash container, and they immediately changed it out; our old vendor, Valley West had for years been grousy on the phone . . Bad Customer Service and Lazy drivers who dont know how to empty a garbage can. You call explain you watched the driver from your own neighbors garage them not properly doing their job leaving garbage hanging out the can still 3/4s full. Call back and they are unwilling to come back. - They severely need to update their website, so making a payment at 3:30 PST counts for the same day.

Writing this as I am disappointed with the service I received as well as the response I got from customer service.I used compostable bags for yard debris I needed to clean up, assuming it was okay to use as it wasnt under their unacceptable items list. Driver refused to pick up the debris (that is already being sent to be composted). Called customer service and they wanted me to pay an extra fee for them to come out and clear my bin! Thought I was doing the right thing as my bags are compostable and their website didnt say it wouldnt be accepted, now Im stuck with a full bin and have to wait two weeks to do any yard work.Definitely looking into WM and other disposal services. To me at this point, it doesnt matter to pay more if it means I receive quality service in return.Response to owner:As I understand that the yard debris is going to a compost site, I hope you can understand my frustration when I believed that there would not be an issue if I used compostable bags. I was irked that the customer service response was for me to pay more. [update] We received an email from the office and the company has found a solution to this situation::Can I leave a zero star review? After THEIR system didnt charge our account - our account was cancelled. When I called they told me to set up auto pay - I went in to check on it and it was ALREADY SET UP! I was told I would have to pay extra to have my current garbage picked up and that they wouldnt be back for a week. When I found that our account was already set up on auto pay and brought that to their attention the recommendation was to just wait and see if it went through the following month. Are you kidding me? No customer service. No solutions.

They try to make everything your fault even when you follow all their asinine little rules and regulations about your garbage and have done EXACTLY as they instructed you to do. Unfortunately, it does little good to complain about a company in which you only have one option to use. I can relate to the others issuing their complaint, particularly about the recycling requirements. I called so many times to voice my concerns, that they knew exactly who I was, and exactly where I lived before I shared my story. What recycling company wont recycle a pizza box??! The ridiculousness of it all. I just gave up. I believe this company to be arrogant, to put the blame and hardship on its customers before taking any blame themselves. I am not quite sure how companies are selected, and in what intervals, but residents who are unsatisfied should speak up when the city or region decides who to award disposal pick up contracts to.

Worst Disposal company Ive ever had. Really wish that the city would give you options for your disposal company. I had waste management in Beaverton and they were a million times better. Worst part is they only pick up yard debris and recycling every other week, which means you spend half your time putting your excess recycling in the trash rather than recycling where it should be.Please Tigard and Sherwood, allow another company to come in and do disposal services.
