We visited here a few weeks ago on vacation. It was a new experience for my elementary age kids to go on the river. Some of us used tubes (we upgraded to the deluxe and my little one got a special little kid size) while others used kayaks. We were thankful to usually catch the lines before they got too long, but you should be prepared to wait just in case. There is a shop where you pay for your equipment and you can also purchase any other necessities to help you enjoy the trip (such as a waterproof phone case). The day we visited our rides averaged about one hour and forty five minutes because it rained the afternoon before (we ended up taking two trips). Earlier that week before the rain they said rides were taking three hours or more. If you are on a kayak you have more control over your speed, though in a tube your speed is at the mercy of the current. They do monitor the river each day and adjust accordingly for the safety of their patrons, so if there are any extreme conditions it would be good to call that day before you go. They also check the river each morning for debris. I highly suggest sunscreen! There are some shady spots, but in a tube you dont have much control over your direction. It was very relaxing and a nice family outing.
I have little to compare it to, but it was fun and easy. The rapids were very mild. My four and eight year olds were able to go and had a blast. They had a van come pick us up when we were done which was prompt, which was nice. I would definitely go again. Oh and I highly recommend buying or bringing a phone covering case so you can take pictures and video. Some people even brought a waterproof speaker and some coolers which looked nice.
Great way to spend a hot day. The river was a little low and slow but perfect for staying cool. They are well organized, we got our tubes quickly and at the end of the ride the van was there to pick us up. Safe enough to bring the kids (as long as they can manage being out on the water for 2+ hours). Id definitely go again!
We had a great time on the river tubing trip. There were 11 of us from 5 to 45 years old and the trip was great. It rained lightly for a bit which added to the adventure. The people were very nice and accommodating!
I am a local who has been to River romp many times over the years. It never fails as soon as I walk in the door Diane calls me by name hi Shane I am treated like a family member. Her husband Jerry is ex-military and I always like using a business who has ex-military. The crew was very friendly when they pick you up, and the sights on the river are amazing. This establishment cannot be beat for tubing and fun.
We went kayaking with a group of 8 people. The river was beautiful and it was a very good price. Even though the season did not start yet, they opened for us and picked us up with a bus after we were finished. The people were so nice and also recommended us a really good breakfast place and a sushi restaurant. We would definitely go back there!
Relaxing. Fun. We had ages from 6-68 and everyone enjoyed it. Topped our list of favorite activities for this vacation. Staff was friendly. Call ahead to find out about conditions for the day. It took us about 2 1/2 hours.
We went as a 20 person group and this was AWESOME!!! The staff is very friendly and the river experience was so cool! A great way to spend a hot day in the smokies! Will definitely do it again next year when we return!Vanessa BlandGrace Christian Fellowship Church
Had a great time floating down the river today. Lasted about 2 hrs. Staff worked hard to make sure everyone had a great time. Shuttle back was nice with not much of a wait. Driver was very friendly.
Diane and family have been FANTASTIC hosts for the past 9 summers that we have come to enjoy the river. They treat you like family, greeting us all with smiles and hugs as we brought both old and new friends to enjoy the experience they’ve carefully created. We won’t go anywhere else or recommend anyone else.
The river was running low and slow (2.5 to 3 hrs) but it was good for our large group with small children. They swam and splashed their way along the river. The staff was helpful, organized and prompt. We had a great time!
Great experience at a great price. My husband and I and two teens took kayaks down the river and had a blast. The staff was helpful and the place is down home laid back but also well run. I love that you get two kayak trips down the river and can keep tubing after that. (No reflection on the company but Ive done my share of canoeing and tubing and this river is full of surprise sharp boulders in a way I havent seen before so be careful. Several folks with scratches, cuts, and bumps the day we went.)
The staff was amazing and super friendly. We were the first ones of the day and they warned us it could be slow. They didnt try to convince us to go simply told us it might be slow and gave us the option. The river was a little slow in places because it hadnt rained in a while, but it was more time to relax! This place is amazing with a great staff!!!
The tubing experience was very nice, and very inexpensive. But make sure you bring water shoes or you will have to buy some there, but they are inexpensive. Almost all of the trip is very close to roads and traffic noise unfortunately. The staff were very helpful and friendly. Overall a very good experience, especially for the price. I would do it again.
This place was great! Me and my two friends came here to kayak (all first timers) and the staff was very helpful and friendly. The part of the river we went down was fun, easy and most of the water was pretty shallow. We even got a free round of tubing included and that was super relaxing. If youre in the area and looking for something to do, go to this place!
Great experience! Cant beat it! Great way to get the day started! Will definitely come back every time I visit this area.
I wish the river had been a little faster, but I really enjoyed our time. At one point there were young cows in the shallow part of the water and that was awesome to see.
DO NOT CHOOSE THIS COMPANY IF YOURE LOOKING FOR RAPIDS.This is a nice lazy float down the river. Its relaxing, but not much fun. It would be perfect for small children to get to experience a few rapids. You can rent coolers to float your lunch and drinks down with you--its that calm. Many people would enjoy this experience, it just wasnt what we were looking for. Try the rivers in Townsend for rapids.
Great price for hours of fun. My son loved this. Staff is very friendly
The check in staff are very friendly. I would not recommend for anyone with Disabilities with walking, we didn’t know what to expect and they should really tell you. We had a terrible experience and the one man that helped my sister to the stop sign that was more worried about the float than her and just left her shame on you, a human is more important than a float.. To the man who went to help my oldest daughter who was the last rapid stranded from helping my sister thank you again. Will not return to this place.
Enjoyed multiple trips this past summer. Super friendly people!
I came here with 3 of my friends while we were on vacation. While one of them didnt have the best experience I and my other friend I was with really enjoyed the experience. Its pretty easy floating for the most part but there are some small rapids here and there. They arent very rough but theyre in very shallow water and your kayak could get stuck (happened to me but I just shimmied myself off of the rock) and in retrospect are very very fun. The overall experience was very nice and the staff were very helpful. Great for first timers.
It was a awesome trip! We had 8 people in our party 3 kids all pretty young and they did just fine on the three rapid parts and everybody had a great time . We Will be going again some day !
Real relaxing experience. Their timeline if 2.5-3 is fairly accurate if you dont stop yourself. Would visit again.
Our family of 5 had a great time despite the thunderstorm! We made it about 75% of the way down the river when an afternoon thunderstorm popped up. We exited the river and waited by the road, where the River Romp staff picked us up within about 5 minutes. Even though our day was cut short, we enjoyed our time on the river. I strongly recommend closed toe water shoes, or AT LEAST a Chaco, Teva, or Keane type sandal. The rocks are slippery, and you may have to walk at parts of the river is low. You also need shoes that wont fall off in the river, and which will stay attached to your foot if you have to climb out in the event of thunder & lightning. I also recommend buying a waterproof disposable camera, and leaving your personal camera or cell phone in the car. River Romp will hold your keys for you. Dont take ANYTHING youre not willing to lose. Most of all, remember sunscreen and plan to have fun! We rented the premium tubes for adults $15 each) and regular tubes for the kids ($12 each). Premium tubes had a backrest and drink holder (definitely take some water or Gatorade!)
Always go there when in Sevierville in summer....Tubing is great....about 2 hours of just floating down river, get out and bus brings you back to office and your car.
Very nice experience! Nice place to visit with family and friends. Youll see nature, water and beautiful sceneries. Something to remember and never forget!
Most relaxing thing Ive done on vacation!! The rapids are just enough to give it a little excitement
Friendly staff, beautiful river. We loved it. Very fun and relaxing.
Friendly staff! We had a nice relaxing float down the river on a Monday afternoon. The picnic area wasnt as nice as I thought it would be. It was just a couple of picnic tables under a tree. All in all though, it was a good experience and I would go again.
Love the friendly atmosphere of this place. Its located next door to where I live. Closed now due to that its winter time. They open back up when spring comes with the sun bringing warmer temperatures.
Great time. Both relaxing and fun. Of note that I was not aware, cooler rafts for rent that fit a standard size cooler for pops n’at.
My family really enjoyed this experience. We tube often back home but this was our 2 year olds first trip. The water was low and some what slow that day so it took us over 3 hours to get down the river but it was a nice combo of sun/shade and deep/shallow. I highly recommend!
We went sometime in July of 2016 and had a blast! The day we went the river was high, water clear and fresh... all around great time! I think you need to ask the staff about the state of the river before you come though, because in less than two days after our tubing adventure, our friends went and the river changed completely... very low... murky, muddy. Not cool!
We had a great time, the water was relaxing. I would highly recommend anyone to go there. The staff was all nice and helpful
I had a great time with my new wife. Started off with kayaking and then went tubing. Great experience and family friendly. Would do it again in a heart beat.
The owners are awesome. The place is amazing. If your local or here to visit you MUST stop by... One of the best kept secrets in the city.
Staff were friendly and a lot of fun! They had safety in mind first. Great trip! Will definitely go rafting with them again!
This place was great, river was tree lined for a perfect setting of sun and shade, staff were all awesome
Such a great experience! We enjoyed our time and the staff was top notch amazing
Much preferred over River Rat. Romp has a longer ride and good mix of slow moving water and rapids. If the water level is up I wouldnt recommmend it for older or very young people.
Great time. Friendly and helpful staff. My 4 kids loved the adventure of floating down the river.
We had a blast! No cooler checks. We drank lots of cola. Be respectful though and bring a bag with you for trash. Also no one is allowed to go barefoot. Bring some type of shoe. They sell them there for 10 if you forget.
Everyone was outstanding and the tubing trip down the river was great...so much so we went a second time the same day.
Very friendly staff and had a blast... And everyone pay the extra couple bucks for the bigger tube with the handles and cup holders it makes a big difference especially if the water shallow... Lol. Trust me!!👍😁
Would not recommend going with a group, they offer a group discount but wont honor it. I recently went with my family and we were told that there was a group discount (when we called ahead), we notified the desk that we were a group of 15, we were then broken up into individual families told to pay separetly. After paying the lady at the counter proceeded to tell us that she had no idea we were a group and refused to honor the discount. When we inquired about about fixing the issue we were told they couldnt do anything, it was our fault and did we want to tube or not. #shame
What a great time! It was such a long relaxing ride!
Lots of fun. 2-3 hours per trip down the river. Great place to drink and float while enjoying a beautiful view.
Fun, but unlike River Rat they don’t offer season passes. Too expensive for locals.Well worth the drive for the pass...Shame . Must not need the local business..
Very nice trip. Beautiful river. The owner gave us good tips on how to handle the kayak
Thank you for a great experience! We had a group of 16 for a bachelorette weekend party! This was by far our favorite activity. From checking in to getting picked up after, the staff was amazing and this definitely was the highlight of our vacation.
Very nice people, nice two hour float. Not a raging river, not even an exciting floating river. Just a nice, lazy trip. With our group of mostly older people, just what we wanted!
Great ride 3hrs had to get up and walk twice
Great fun time! River is a little slow so it is a real lazy river. Yall gotta try this one. Great for families.
This was s great trip, cant miss a tubing trip like this,. To add to it the staff here was great. They all made you feel like part of the family. Expecially Dianne and Jerry. Cant wait to make my next trip.
We live local and go about 6-7 times in the summer. Amazing staff. Relaxing and such a good time
Went tubing great time staff was extra helpful. When storm came they found every one of us to get off the water and offered everyone rain check
Everything was awesome! Just wish it had more Rapids. Word of advice, rent the paddles with your tube.
Horrible kayaking experience!! The water is so shallow in some places that you will get stuck. I flipped in a shallow rapid area and chose to value my life over my kayak so I struggled to the bank and tried to go back to look for my cousin because she had gotten stuck and she was scared. I got her out of the water so we could figure out how to get back. We were scared and shaken up so we called the office for them to send a car to pick us up. The lady promptly made sure our kayaks were okay, obviously not valuing our safety. We were given no information about the river conditions before going out nor were we given any procedural information about what to do in case of an emergency. If I had not had prior experience and knowledge I could have been seriously injured and the workers could not have cared lessBut I would like to say that the short guy with black hair that drove us back was very nice and obviously knows a bit more about empathy and hospitality than the rest of the employees.AFTER OWNER RESPONSE: We were asked about our well being twice by the first woman who answered the phone and by the driver. The only thing Miss Diane said was that it would cost me a pretty penny to pay for the kayak that a lost in order to save my own life. There absolutely were no warnings about river conditions or safety procedures. The blonde girl who helped us and the woman working the register were both very nice, I did not mean to offend them, theyre doing a great job. When we came back to the barn we most certainly were not asked about our well being and they held my car keys. I would also like to point out that there were four members of my party, only two of which were eighteen. This establishment legally let two seventeen year olds sign a release form. If you are unfamiliar with common law, minors cannot sign contracts for themselves and therefore cannot be bound by them. If a minor signs a liability waiver without a parent or co-signer, it is invalid.I think it is shameful that this company lies online to cover their negligence.
Love this place!!! Beautiful river, beautiful scenery, and an over all great experience!! Staff is also awesome!
Very friendly staff! The trip down the river was the perfect length, and very fun.
We had a great relaxing float down the river! We had 3 adults and 6 kids & they loved it!#hiddengem
Nice lazy river. Good for all ages. Staff is super friendly and helpful.
Great fun! All staff was helpful and informative. Highly recommend!
This mom and pop place does not have enough tubes or a system to handle busy days. On my second trip back to River Romp, I was in line I was told that they ran out of tubes. I said I wanted to pay and wait for someone to return-a very simple request. She said I could not do that and she was closing the place for new riders. They have shuttle busses every 15 mins and not everyone goes back in, they could of very easily had a waiting line or a system for that. This person didn’t want to try very hard. So we drove to River Rat. River Rat is a very nice place. It was very easy to get in, get out, and pickup wait was less than 5 mins. And most importantly, they can handle volume. Facility is top notch, modern, and they do get the most reviews so it’s a no-brainer. I’m glad I found River Rat. Don’t waste your time and luck at River Romp.
Fun, easy, trip down the river! Thoroughly enjoyed the trip!
Great place, nice folks, had a blast, 2-3 hour trip down river, beautiful...
This is great family fun,, we loved it..Best bang for the dollar as well.
Drove all the way there and it is no longer open!
Great time for family and friends together!
Terrible experience today first i sighned myself and my special needs sister and son in and the lady behind the counter said well its nice you take her to do things like this rite in front of her made her feel terrible another lady refused to let me use a rope to tie myself to her just in case it got hard on her then as we are exiting my son looses his float and is stuck in rocks Im trying to help my sister out of the river and hurry and get to my son and all the guy there helping everyone else out of the river (except me and my special needs sister )would say is somebody needs to get that float before I have to charge them all while Im struggling to help my family I will never return or recommend this place we have came here every year for three years multiple times throughout the summer its always been great but today was absolutely terrible
Great time and nice people. Best way to spend the day for a good price in the Smokies.
Had a wonderful and relaxing time down the river.
Fun float! It gets crowded quick, I would make reservations a day in advance.
We had a great time and the people working we nice and helpful
Great value. Relaxing and fun!
This was my familys favorite thing we did during our vacation. My kids range in age from 6 -15 yrs old and they all loved it!
