Somehow they messed up my appointment then tried to blame me for it. I was told I never scheduled one even though I had a time and date for it. Someone clearly didn’t input the appointment into whatever system they use.

This is the best vet I have ever been to. And I have lived a lot of different places. Dr H is the nicest ever and his crew is EQUALLY as nice. I have never met a sweeter staff. I saw someone review be prepared to wait --- Dr H & staff will let you know Monday and Fri appts are hard because he gets a lot of pets hurt over the week or weekend. I assume this is because he prioritizes based on injury and illness which is great and you should appreciate because one time that may be your fur baby in need of immediate TLC and Dr H will surely squeeze you in the schedule if he can! Prices are great!

Amazing staff and doc. Been bringing Milo here since I’ve had him ( he’s a year in May) and they all have been taking amazing care of him. Highly recommend!!

I needed to bring my pet in for vaccinations. They told me she had to be sedated for the visit. They said it was CDC guidelines for every animal. Though I’d understand if it was a troublesome pet, but mine isn’t (she’s 10). I didn’t want to do it but I was afraid of breaking the guideline. I called around to several vets and they never heard of it. I also did research online. Nothing. I don’t like to be lied to, so if I couldn’t trust their word, I really can’t trust them with my pet. I canceled.

The vet is professional, however the receptionist is not professional at all.Even the first visit had to wait for hours due to emergency, as a former vet assistant which i can understand.However, for the second visit. I call on Jan 11 around 10am to schedule an appointment for my kitty second vaccine. They said they are fully book till next Friday (1/22). So I made an appointment at 3:40pm that day. When I arrived they said they do not have any record of the appointment and there is nothing she can do today, other then reschedule it to next week. I have to take a day off for the appointment and the receptionist didn’t even apologize for her mistake!!

Dr. Holden and his staff are incredibly professional and patient. They take the time to get to know your animals personality. Dr. Holden is very knowledgeable and caring. I recently had to put my 16 year old Golden Retriever down. It was an extremely hard decision to make but Dr. Holden and his staff were caring and sympathetic. The day we brought her in for the last time, they placed a comfortable blanket on the table for her and allowed us all the time we needed to say goodbye. Ive been a customer there for over 10 years and will continue to recommend him.

I would recommend these people to anyone that cares about their pets.these people really do care. Its not all about the money

Dr. Holden and his staff are the best team of vets we have come across. Our pups are loved and well taken care off. We lost two elderly dogs, the most recent one, our beloved bulldog Molly, died suddenly, on a Saturday. I called hysterical when all happened and the staff instructed me to come in, mind you on Saturday, their hours are later, but he rushed in for Molly. Her passing was inevitable and our pain was beyond comprehension, yet Dr. Holden and his staff cared for our Molly as if she was their own. Their attention and care for us and our girl has been beyond compare.They are the ones I will always go to as they’re not there for a job, but it is their calling.

The staff and care is great, but be prepared to WAIT! I’ve been there twice now and both times had to wait even though I had a scheduled appointment. The first time I went was later in the day so I just figured they got backed up through the day, but I had to wait 45 minutes! The second time I went I scheduled something earlier in the day and again had to wait 30 minutes passed my appointment time!

Dr. Holden is a phenomenal vet. Not only does he provide thorough and compassionate care during a scheduled appointment, he also returns every phone call, sometimes hours after the practice officially closes. He offers pragmatic advice with the best interest of the animal and the family at the forefront. So grateful to have found him. Hes been our vet for 5 years.

This place is great! They are so welcoming and polite. The doctor is knowledgeable and gives us lots of helpful information. He also gives us advice based on personal experience. He does not try to sell us something we do not need, however I do appreciate that he shares awareness about potential diseases pets can catch, as well as some diseases humans can catch from pets. 10/10 would recommend to a friend!

Ancient establishment with mountains of papers in his office. The exam room is an everything room. A big open cluttered mess filled with large medical equipment, extra cages/crates, medical supplies, piles of boxes, a fridge and an open door leading to a stinky room that looked to be for long-term animal holding with more crates stacked on top of each other. The scene from the Hoarders show is a sniffers paradise and probably home to some rodents. All the smelly distractions made it impossible for me to get my dog to sit still. While I focused on trying tame my normally-tamable dog, the Doc rattled off a bunch of stuff which I didnt understand, some of which were outside the realm of my visit (I was prepping my pup for boarding and wanted no extras). After that frustrating and confusing ordeal, I was issued a hand-scribbled carbon copy of a receipt that I cant make out. Do animal vets get inspected? Arent they held to some kind of standard besides the faded certificate on the wall? This guy should be shut down.

Dr. Holden and his staff are AMAZING! Ive been coming to Severn Square for about 2 years with my 4 dogs. Ive always had pleasant experiences. Any time I have a quick question about my pups, Ms. Deb or Dr. Holden are always eager to give advice. My pups LOVE coming to the vet because they make it such a homey experience. They gets treats, kisses and amazing care. And the prices are very decent (Cheaper than Banfield, but a little more than humane society). Others can beat the price, but definitely arent beating Dr. Holden and his staff as far as the experience, care and love goes. They genuinely love what they do.

Doctor Holden and his staff are wonderful. Our experience has always been a positive one. Gloves and a muzzle are sometimes used depending on the circumstances but always with care. Ive been to another vet. Although, I wish we went to Dr. Holden initially because that facility could not hold a candle to Severn Square Veterinary Hospital. You will leave with more knowledge about caring for your pet than you came into the Severn Square Veterinary Hospital. Time is taken to listen to your concerns and questions are asked to address your pets issue(s). If you want quality care for your pet in a professional environment with friendly people, then you owe it to yourself and definitely your baby go to Severn Square Veterinary Hospital.

DR HOLDEN IS THE BEST DAMN VET AROUND, YOUR DOG IS JUST SHOWING ANXIETY AND AGGRESSION DONT BLAME A VET FOR YOUR LACK OF TRAINING. THE THICK GLOVES ARE PROTECTIVE AND SHOULD BE WORN. FURTHER MORE, NEVER IN MY LIFE HAVE I EVER SEEN DR HOLDEN OR HIS ASSISTANTS MISTREAT ANY DOG. YOUR EXPERIENCE COULD HAVE BEEN PREVENTED WITH AT HOME TRAINING AND ATTENTION TO DETAIL WITH YOUR DOGHAVE A GREAT DAY

I came to this vet Hospital after my puppy had been bitten by my other dog. The vet didnt seem too concerned with the puppys condition, but continued to ask question after question about my other dog. The vet wanted too see the medical records of the attacker, and went so far as to suggest that I hadnt had my other dog vaccinated for rabies. Then when he finally took a look at my puppy, he treated him as if he was an aggressive, psychotic dog. His assistants wore thick gloves and rough handled the puppy. Instead of using a puppy voice, as Ive seen other vets do to comfort him, the vet made loud noises and shouted several times throughout the visit. My puppy lashed out at the vet after being treated in this manner, so the vet forced a muzzle on him. I have never seen my puppy treated this way and I can say without a doubt that the vet and his assistants caused him to act aggressively. I worry that my puppy will fear all vets now as a result. We will stear clear of this vet clinic and instead use telegraph road.

Dr. Holden is fantastic. Went well above and beyond the call of duty to help save our pet after a bad accident - staying all night, delaying a family trip, taking our 11pm calls - and all of this without ever having us as patients before. He pulled through and Dr. Holden has been our absolute first vet choice for years now. We could not be happier. Holden doesnt spend his businesss money on fancy check-in iPads or extra soft bathroom paper towels, and he has his staff wear big safety gloves, but every time I go I get a strong feeling that every single dollar given to Severn square and Dr Holden is well earned. The exams are incredibly comprehensive, he doesnt push anything extra on you at all, and he is exactly the person I want to talk to if my pet is in a bad place.

I have a 8 month Pit Bull puppy and this is the only vet i will ever use, The first day i got her (from craigslist)at about 7-8 weeks old, She was extremely malnourished to the point that you could almost see every bone in her body, I was able to get her to the vet that day, and Dr. Holden helped us put together a great healthcare plan and take care of my baby, till this day he is the only vet i will ever use, I moved all the way to Baltimore and i refuse to go to another, because him and his staff are just so awesome.

A very big thank you to the man who answered the phone this morning and talked me through giving my sick cat compressions for over twenty minutes. I initially called to get an emergency appointment and during the phone call my cats condition worsened and I had no way to reach the office, he was able to advise me on how to give her compressions over the phone and afterwards was very kind about the situation. Thank you so much!

Excellent place to bring your pets, Dr Holden, is nice and definitly funny. The staff are great as well!

Without hesitation... Locked the doors and IMMEDIATELY started working on my Victorian bulldog that had been in a fight and had a tore jugular vein. Saved her life and will be forever greatful. Shes 30 days into her pregnancy nearly 8 months after and its all thanks to you guys! See u soon.. Bringing yall a pregnant dog in 10 days for ultrasounds lol

The staff is EXTREMELY rude and so is the Dr. They act like know-it-alls and dont care about the owners opinion or wants when it comes to their pet. They dont work with you at all as far as what is affordable for you. They will try to charge you the highest price they can for tons of unessesary stuff and if you cant afford it, they treat you like a bad owner. The also dont like to work with 1800petmeds because 1800petmeds takes the vets opportunity to make money. Staff has an attitude the entire time you are at an appt and the Dr acts like he is the only vet that knows what hes doing. They are also very biased when it comes to dog breeds so you should know if you have a bully breed they will muzzle them, restrain them with huge thick gloves and see them in a back room so they cant hurt anyone. I am going to be switching vets. Dont bother going here.
