The workers here were super nice and informative about the space and it was such a wonderful experience. One of the best climbing gyms that I have seen for just bouldering. The routes were readable and they are doing super well with social distancing. Honestly love the space and will definitely come back when I am in the area!
Wish they had ropes as well but otherwise, good ventilation is what sold it to me in this gym.
Hit this place with my buddies on the weekends. It can get a bit crowded and parking can be a hassle but its worth it everything is set up nice. The foam padded floor is nice so you can push a little harder and have a soft landing when your grip gives out.
Visiting from Portland for the week and decided to come here as it was a bouldering-only gym. I was absolutely blown away by the size of the facility. I didn’t go downstairs until I was almost finished and I am glad I did. The place just kept going! I had never seen a gym with a yoga room, fitness area, and a climbing treadmill thing? Also the price of a day pass for all of the amenities was outstanding, much cheaper than gyms I have been to that don’t even have showers or non-climbing areas. I would say that the ratings seem a bit harder than the gyms in Portland, but I am also not the best climber. I had an amazing time and will definitely be back when I come to visit next time.
Climbings great, staff can be so/so. Don’t expect much more than a confused look if you have any question other than “wheres the bathroom”. Gets far too crowded most days to have a “chill” climbing sesh. Would give 4 starts if it was open 24/hrs or focused more on climbing but as it sits this is more of a place to hangout and spend money than it is a place to climb imo
High quality facilities and fun/creative bouldering problems. It is getting pretty crowded though.
This is an incredible space for climbing. Great staff, clean facility, a lot of thoughtful touches. We love this place..
Even though I don’t live in Seattle this has been my absolute favorite bouldering gym ever - and I’ve been to many. Large bouldering areas, great exercise room and areas, yoga, campus training, even a climbing treadmill! I try to visit every time I’m in town for work :)Word of warning, it gets really busy on weekday afternoons.
Been going here for 2 years. Friendly staff, tall ceilings, good layout, fun routes. Made me confident enough to climb outside.
Fantastic gym with lots of bouldering walls, large set of weightlifting and bodyweight exercise equipment, and excellent customer service. Great choice for beginners and experienced boulder climbers alike.
Probably one of my favorite gyms ever. Great setting, great circuits, highball-ish sized walls. Last time we went the music was kinda a snore-fest but thats whatever. My one tiny gripe, one and only, is why no sit starts? Ive never seen a sit start set here, they could add a number of moves to many climbs. Either way, if you havent been here do yourself a favor and drop in for an hour or two. Dont forget to check downstairs.
Went for the 1st time today and it was a million times more fun than I was expecting. Huge facility. Tons of choices for all skill levels.
Went there, climbed rocks and had fun. They have simply bits for anyone and hard bits for skilled people, soft mat if you fall, is good. They did not have fish and chips there because it is not a food place, but I got fish and chips afterwords.
The bouldering problems are pretty fun. I may be a beginner but I feel that each climb is appropriately labeled and color coded for each difficulty
Awesome place with amazing staff. I want to personally thank Kate for her understanding of my situation and doing everything she could to accommodate.
SO. MANY. PROBLEMS! in a good way. I could climb here for a week and not have tried all the bouldering problems they have and by that time theyve reset the first area. So basically non stop new problems from talented and creative setters! Thank you!Not to mention the restaurant, unique static chalk collection hanging things, lounge, yoga, and other programs.Once you guys start your own climbing team you guys are going to be a force to be reckoned with in the competitive climbing community.
Great first time experience, me and a partially disabled friend came today and found them to be really accommodating, wheelchair ramp and everything and no one yelled at us for using the kids area becau it was easier and no one was there 😅
Amazing environment filled with great people and fun complex climbs!
SBP is an awesome gym. Lots of space and the routes are changed frequently. The staff members are extremely nice and helpful.
Very good place to go for bouldering. Great community
Ton of fun! Fingers are definitely sore but thats what we signed up for 😄
A great place to practice climbing.
I went with my husband who has a membership and got in for free as a guest. I was also able to rent shoes for free, which was so nice. I took a beginner class which helped build my confidence and gave me some good instruction. The staff members were incredibly friendly and helpful. I climbed for ~2.5 hours and never got bored. There were many paths to climb and it was busy but never too crowded. This was a fun, wholesome environment. Would definitely go again.
Go on the slow times. They have good covid policies, but you just cant control guests that remove their masks to take a breather, or not sanitize after they use something, or gather around the free weights...Friendly staff, lots of parking.
Great space to climb! They regularly reset the walls and just finished repainting which looks fantastic!! They also have a nice café downstairs which has the perfect sized cookies to share with friends. The community there cannot be any other climbing place. People are so friendly and will cheer you on no matter your level. They even have a cool climbing fort / castle downstairs for the kids!
One of the best bouldering gyms in town. Climbing 4-5 days per week, Im not able to climb everything before walls are reset! Amazing place!
I get the hype! Theres an open upstairs climbing area and a downstairs climbing area with a cafe and bar. The rental shoes are well maintained and smelled better than expected! My feet were different sizes and they were very accommodating which I very much appreciated. Super friendly staff, and well definitely be back soon.
Great climbing place. I go here all the time and the people are super nice! Theyve got bouldering and a gym and yoga classes and stuff but Ive only ever gone for climbing.
SBP sets fun and challenging routes with a good variety of styles at different grades.Their COVID guidelines are well outlined and supported. Boulderers arent limited to one area on the floor, but can move around as long as they keep distance from others. You can currently make reservations in 90-minute time slots, which isnt as long as I typically boulder, but because of the variety of routes and the ability to move around, I find I can still get a lot of climbing into that timeframe.
Great place. Getting a little too popular.
Reopened with a reservation system and some new requirements (masks, liquid chalk). Quite honestly, its a better and more relaxing experience than it was when the gym would be uncomfortably crowded and unsafe from people climbing and falling all over each other. Most of the other gym go-ers have been good about keeping masks on and keeping distance from each other. All in all, a gym I feel safe working out in.
Primo climbing gym with a plethora of accommodations! The staff is also friendly and helpful.
Doing great with the social distancing. Keeping the numbers down and got a same day reservation.
Great place to climb and even better now that there are covid restrictions. Before you had to go really early on a weekday to not stand side by side. I feel a lot more comfortable knowing I wont have 10 people in my personal space. They have a full weight training and cardio gym and a yoga room. Staff is really friendly. New liquid chalk requirement really helps the air cleanliness too.
This place is awesome. Great community.
This is a solid bouldering place.
Amazing bouldering gym that you should visit!
Clean, lots of routes & downclimb holds, soft mats. No complaints from me.
Solid selection of routs, set up by some of the best climbers in the region. Many walls to choose from and the staff is knowledgeable and friendly.
Amazing facility. I was really impressed with the movement classes and the layout of the training area. But frankly, I only gaze 3 starts because the place pretty dirty. There’s a lot of lint and dust (very noticeable) within the training area. Also the men’s change rooms were very smelly. There’s obviously a lot of people coming in and out of this place, and I understand why. It’s really a fantastic facility. But they need to up their cleanliness game.
Although SBP is usually pretty busy, the crowd is super friendly and respects unspoken bouldering etiquette. The sets are extremely varied and creative, and are available to a wide range of body types and heights. The routes seemed to be replaced frequently so they don’t get too greasy. Every time I go, I have an awesome time on stellar sets. Even when it’s crowded, you’re bound to have a great time, with many different walls and a training area that could keep you busy for hours on hours.
Nice clean place, a lot of space.
Taking covid well, as very well set precautions that also dont interfere alot with their service.
4.5 STARS. Ive been climbing at SBP for about 6 months and think its one of the best gyms in the whole city. The facilities are maintained relatively well. Beautiful lounging areas, and cafe. There are classes available with membership on top of a gym downstairs so its a lot of bang for you buck. Its so unfortunate that the staff can be kinda unfriendly and snotty at times. There are several great employees that are kind, responsive, and helpful, but there are a few that can make it less enjoyable experience, especially when having to deal with them at the front desk.
I miss the social scene, yet the employees still make it feel like the home it once was.
SBP should be a gym (you pay good money to go here), but they like trying to be an event space destroying the experience for the majority of regulars at least 3 months of the year.12/15 Morning: One more volume reset today. So over a week on since tear down and 1/2 the walls are still content (and mostly unusable), 1/4 is walls that are over 6 weeks, and 1/4 is fresh... At this rate it will be new years before this is complete.12/13 Evening: One extra volume reset (the center one). Still no word on when the reset will be complete. 5min wait for climb on the (only new) reset volume at 6pm and getting worse..12/11 Morning: no wall resets have happened post the contest. The center volume in the south room, and the overhang between the north and south rooms were spared from contest use, so are still in the original state from last week.Original: If there has been a comp in the previous month just avoid the place. The reset was from the last comp advertised as going to be complete on the 20th... It is now the 30th and the south room still isnt done. Also what has been put back up is at significantly lower density. In the future if your going to destroy the experience of your annual members for more than 2 months of the year, you give us a couple months free? Or just dont do contents.. Or Dont tear down EVERY climb before a contest.
Solid quality gym. I often see the setters trying climbs when they are not setting. They are strong climbers and creative setters. Many female setters as well which means diverse climbs for different body types.
Climb here e every week and I love it.
Amazingly fun place! My first time bouldering, and Im already ready to go again!
Love the reservation system. Thanks for keeping everything clean and accessible.
Lots of areas to climb with an amazing fitness area to work on building strength!
Favorite climbing gym in Seattle. One of my favorite world over. It’s crowded but huge. Super regular yoga classes, giant facilities, and super fun parkour style modern bouldering setting.
Best climbing in Seattle hands down.
Im glad theyre back open. Theyre handling the restrictions with great professionalism and consideration.
Good place to climb walls for beginners. Price is reasonable, facility is well maintained and staffs are helpful. Its pretty crowded, but that doesnt mean that you need to wait in line to climb walls.
This gym has tons of walls! At first I was a little confused by the way they did their grading but it became intuitive quickly. Make sure to check out the downstairs area. They have some cool walls tucked away.
After trying out one day, I became a member the next day and shortly after cancelled my rent. Now Im a full-time resident here and love this place more than dogs or my mom. They have a gym, kettlebell, yoga- fitness- and bouldering classes, sauna, bar, working spaces, phone and meeting rooms.Best thing here is people are super friendly and you can always ask anyone for tips or advice.
Nice gym, parking is tough, customer service is pretty bad for anything aside from taking your money.Lose a caulk bag? Good luck tracking it down from these guys. They are apparently donated every two weeks, to whom or where? Nobody knows... Can you look in the lost and found bin? Nope. Whats the point of a lost and found? Added one star for the deer-in-headlights look the guy with curly hair at the front desk gives when you ask him a simple question. Visited 07/20/19. Plenty of rock gyms is Seattle. This is one.
My favorite climbing gym. They change up routes regularly so theres always new routes to try!
This place has a lot of routes, with a lot of variety and crazy stuff Ive never seen in a gym before. If youre an average climber accustomed to gyms in the midwest or maybe even east coast, be ready to have your perceived skill level knocked down a few notches. Great fun overall. Recommend to go in the middle of a weekday if possible.
I wanted to try a different type of activity and bouldering was recommended. I gave it a try when they had the community event and I loved it! I will definitely go back and take classes to learn more about the sport. The staff was very friendly and helpful!
First time here, I got free entry as the guest of a member. The initial registration was pretty quick (just one simple waiver), although I didnt really like the stiff keys of the keyboard. Staff quickly gave a very quick safety briefing and was always smiling - which made me feel very welcome!I also heard from one of the staff that its the biggest bouldering-only gym in the country, which is super awesome. The walls here are generally quite tall and there are 2 (?) top-out walls which were really fun! After climbing, I purchased a pair of climbing shoes for a friend and got 10% off of it thanks to my member friend once again. The staff was really approachable and helpful when I was looking for the right pair of shoes, too.If I am in Seattle again I will definitely come back here! Highly recommended!
Quite a nice gym. I enjoyed their creative routes, nice bathrooms, workout area, and accompanying restaurant. They’re also across the street from a great Peruvian restaurant, which is always a plus!edit: I went back here and was less impressed with the routes. Hopefully they improve in the future.
Most bouldering space I have ever seen, and I travel to a lot of gyms. Before climbing, I rented two crash pads over the weekend. It was easy, and the staff was great. On a Sunday afternoon, the gym was busy but not crowded. I had no problem getting on the problems, And I really enjoyed the color system. I think it more accurately reflects what you would see outdoors. It is all a spectrum. In gyms with classic rating scale, I will find sometimes I flash a v4 and other times I cant get past that first move. I can send v5s in some gyms, but in others, I have to project for a 3. The color system lets me get out of my head. I think I climb better.Anyway, great gym, great problems, great atmosphere, great staff, and clean.
Love this place. It literally has everything! Climbing, a gym, yoga studio, a cafe, little study area, I really wish I lived closer because I’d be here all the time!
This gym is run by genuinely awesome people. Every interaction with staff is pleasant, and they keep the gym in pretty awesome shape. One downside is it’s too damn, popular, so it’s incredibly packed at peak hours.
About the place:If you sign up (Students get discount!), You can bring guests which they have to fill out a simple 3-5min waiver (parents needed if for children). If you have subscribed to the gym, you get 2 tokens to use for two people that have never subscribed or been to Seattle Bouldering Project. These guests gets a one time use for an all day free pass with pair of rental shoes at no cost. Most people that end up guest passing tend to climb for about 30min - 1hour.There are locker rooms which have bathrooms, showers and saunas on the main floor. There are generic locker areas, extra bathrooms, a kids section, a training section, yoga, Bar/Cafe (if you drink alcohol, you cant climb), as well as a gym; which can all be found downstairs. The routes get changed two times a week (I believe it was 2 times a week) at certain sections. That way you will always have some new routes to climb when you keep coming back! There are sometimes friendly dogs just outside the front door and you can pet and play with them!Staff:The staff go over rules and tips about minding someone climbing so dont go underneath an area where someone can fall on you. They are very friendly and want you to have a fun and safe time inside. The People, Guests, Community:Everyone is really friendly and helpful. Some people will be willing to help you out. You can always watch someone do a route (thats called seeing their beta [their version of climbing that specific route] which can help you understand how to do a route youre stuck on), you can ask for tips on your technique or just hang out with people around your skill level.I like to hang out with people above my level to have something to work towards and I can see all their techniques and guidance to get me motivated to properly climb.
Lots of routes with a wide range of difficulties, so theres something for everyone! There are new routes every week or so, so you dont really get bored. They also have a decent cafe.
This place is in a really sketchy area of Seattle, I have seen syringes, homeless drug addicts and the largest rat i have ever seen at the bus stop 100 feet from the building. I had my debit card stolen at the bouldering project too. Its fun but DO NOT COME HERE AT NIGHT!
SBP has bare walls and almost no routes. I dont understand how this place is popular or busy. Stone Gardens has more routes with less space but is a far better option!
A really great bouldering gym. It has everything you could possibly want - a variety of routes (that are constantly being updated), weights and treadmills to get a well-rounded workout, a sauna to chill out after an intense session, and a bar serving beer and food.
Such a great climbing gym! The monthly membership is a good deal and pays for itself if you go more than five times a month. The gym is really big, although it can get very crowded. Problems seem to be changed frequently enough that you have something new to work on even if you go regularly but not fast enough that you can’t make it a project and come back to it another day. Great workout area downstairs and they also offer fitness, yoga and bouldering classes at no extra cost!
This gym has one of the best climbing atmospheres in Seattle. The staff and climbers are a joy to be around, classes (yoga, strength training, etc) are included in your day pass and they have a very extensive work out gym you can use. The only thing I have found lacking is long routes to work on endurance. The way they build their routes also makes it difficult to traverse and make your own long route (I believe this is mostly due to the large crowds they have and not wanting to take up a lot of wall space with a traverse). I feel this climbing gym is well worth the price.
This gym is one of my favorite places to climb. The routes are super unique and challenging. The staff is also amazing and super helpful! Our car stalled when we were leaving and instead of waiting for Triple A to come, one of the guys there was happy to give us a jump with the cables that he had. 10/10 above and beyond
An excellent place for some bouldering. Its a nice facility with a ton of bouldering routes and rental equipment if you need it. Theres a good amount of parking but its a popular place and the lot can fill up pretty quickly. Theres a sauna, a bar/cafe, and yoga classes as well, I believe.
This is a great place to build strength and take your bouldering to new heights. They offer a multitude of classes and workshops that are held in their large lower level. Membership is a little expensive but its understandable with all the different things that are included. Fun place to be even if you arent climbing.
Ive been a member here for over a year now. The value for the monthly membership is really great- you get unlimited climbing, fitness classes (including various levels of yoga), and a full gym included. The only downside is that it can get pretty crowded- especially right after work on weekdays. However, there is a reason it is so popular! The staff are all really friendly and make it less intimidating to try climbing if you are new to the sport. There is also a cafe downstairs with coffee, beer, and food. They often host documentary screenings and various speakers to the cafe area.
Awesome bouldering gym. In addition there’s a great little coffee shop/bar downstairs, yoga studio, study area upstairs. It’s been great going multiple times per week the last couple of years.
Awesome space. The grilled cheese is literally the best grilled I have ever had (other than my recipe) along with the carrot and ginger soup. The staff is always very nice and helpful.
My favorite bouldering place so far. Been to a lot of rock gyms and this is my favorite one hands down.Im not a pro at bouldering but its a sport I enjoy and train for. There are easy enough problems to warm up on and harder ones to try out. Keeps me entertained and coming back for more. Unfortunately, I dont live in Seattle so owning a membership will not be the smartest idea. So I got a 10 visit punch card.Oh yes, the cafe is pretty great too. I love the avocado toast.
Great facility -- it is much more than just a bouldering gym. They have a full gym area, saunas in the locker room, and a cafe/bar right downstairs. Note: bring your own lock to lock your things in a locker.
The set up is sweet! The staff is super friendly. There is one major downfall thats hard to get past though, CLEAN your facility. I understand its a climbing gym and they arent the cleanliest places, but I swear this gym is the dirtiest gym Ive ever been to. Just sayin😬Much love guys
This gym is every climbers dream. I went from Planet Granite in Los Angeles to SBP and I know I can take my climbing to the next level here. The training area is unlike most climbing gyms, they have everything from a moon board to revolving climbing walls. They have an incredible amount of routes, so you wont get bored spending a day there. That being said, I cant say too much about the community just yet. So far Im very impressed by the gym itself, but everyone seems to stay in their own groups. Definitely a different feel from my last gym.
Great place for kids, and parents, to burn off some energy on a rainy day. Plus the cafe is good.
Generally interesting music. As other have commented, the routes are often very interesting and there are new sections every week.A bit crowded during peak hours - so avoid them if you are a beginner. Late night is great!Don’t leave valuables in your car!The Peruvian restaurant across the street isn’t bad, but efinitely a no frills spot. Just fine by me.
This place rocks ;)But really this is the worlds largest bouldering gym and the walls are constantly being reset with new problems so youll never get bored. This place accommodates all skill levels from absolute beginners to insane experts. But damn, this place is quite popular, so expect a crowd. Come very early or very late if want to avoid the crowd.
One of the best bouldering spots Ive been to! Huge space with many, many routes for all levels...and they go high! Love that the entire floor is a mat...Plus a cafe, gym, and yoga classes offered! Definitely check it out if youre around.
Clean and fun gym with a great variety of climbs. Yoga and movement classes are also great. Full gym downstairs is also a bonus.
Awesome gym. Awesome climbs. The gym layout is awesome, with some really great potential for fun routes. They really maximize the wall height here.. Its either a high ball, or a slightly shorter top out. They also do a great job maintaining the holds; they arent super chalked or overly glassy. The grading system is a little funny... (Instead of a V-Scale they use a color grade system. White is V0/V1, yellow V1/V2...) but its kind of refreshing to not worry quite so much about the grade.
The best bouldering gym in the Pacific Northwest. In addition to simply be a fantastic gym for adult climbers, they also have a really great set of kids programs and terrain.
Relationships not swipe cards! This is a gym dedicated to their clients. Seattle Bouldering Project is always creating new classes and asking for feedback. Even after a long day at work I am still motivated to go sweat, laugh, and feel the burn! Amy has done a GREAT job with this lifestyle center.
This place is awesome for kids. My boys love it. The food is good for them and beer or coffee for the adults. Since we have discovered it its all they want to do.
Awesome climbing, training area and vibe. I dont think Ive ever felt so welcomed in a climbing gym before. The one down side is the grading being soft compared to anywhere Ive climbed inside or out. Its an ego boost that my pride enjoyed but would immediately be shattered if the same expectations were brought outside.
We go every week. The climbs are varied and fun, good for beginners up to experts. There is a cafe and a fairly legit gym area. Preregistration is a very good idea if it is your first time.
