Very unprofessional, not flexible and in it just to get paid! There are many counselors who do this work for the benefit of the patient. Grossman is not that kind of professional.I would not use him ever again.
I’ve been seeing Katie for the past couple of years and she’s helped me navigate some very difficult times by introducing new coping methods (new to me I know everyone is different). This assisted with me quitting smoking and continues to help me with other needs. She’s also had safe video chats available all throughout Covid which has been very grounding.
Its taken me a while to get to the. point to write this review and I was really conflicted between giving a two star or a three star. This review is specifically for the counselor I saw Katie Unterreiner, since I didnt get a chance to interact with anyone else. there. My appointments started out great. I was coming from a bad experience with a previous therapist and been recommended to Katie. She was friendly and helped me narrow down symptoms that I was feeling. Things started to go more downhill when my appointments started to start late and end early. I brushed it off because I was finally get some help that i really needed and honestly didnt like conflict. Then she started canceling my appointments and making me reschedule weeks after the initial appointment. This happened multiple times. The final thing was when I had an appointment scheduled that she cancelled right when my partner lost their job. She wanted to reschedule my appointment to the next month since we were already halfway through the current month. When I informed her that we would lose our insurance at the end of the current month she just told me to get in touch once I had the whole insurance thing figured out. She also said that she would check back in with me the next month (she didnt thankfully). Super happy that I was able to find a much much much better therapist, I just wanted to share my experience for anyone who may be considering going here (especially if you have abandonment issues 🙃)
A couple months ago, my insurance provider contacted this company, because my health plan allows for 5 free therapy sessions with therapists under the same program (New Avenues.) Just to reiterate: this means that I would get 5 free sessions at Counseling West Seattle, & any additional sessions after would not be covered by my insurance plan. Although Counseling West Seattle operates within this same program, they made it clear they did not want to take me on, due to the fact that they wouldn’t be able to book anymore than the 5 free sessions. The rep at Counseling West Seattle gave me all the reasons to discourage me from using their services, but it all came down to the one fact: they wouldn’t be able to do anymore than 5 sessions with me.Why is Counseling West Seattle part of the New Avenues referral program if they are going to discourage clients who come to them through that program?
I highly recommend Counseling West Seattle to anyone in need of counseling services. Its counselors are highly-experienced, knowledgeable and friendly. They strive to make everyone feel welcome and at ease during each session.
Ive been hesitant to leave a review, because I dont think its fair to review all for my experiences with two counselors here. But I also feel its best to be honest so improvement can, hopefully, happen. After moving to Seattle with a heavy medical diagnosis, I came here for support. My first counselor was okay. She listened and that is what I needed. But I didnt feel supported and that was very evident when I realized she was no longer practicing here and didnt make an effort to communicate this to me. No one did.My second attempt to find support here was far more upsetting. I had called in after losing 2 people I was very close to, to suicide and death. I was devastated. I called to make an appt explaining the difficult time I was having. I was happy that I was able to get in quickly, but at my appt, the counselor was running late, left to get food and coffee, and ate during the first 25 minutes of my appt. Nothing like being in crisis/grief and having your therapist put more attention into a muffin than in what is happening with their client. I received no logical support here from her. She kept mentioning referrals to her nutritionist friends she went to school with. Hey, Im all for better health- but theres a time and place for that suggestion and its not during a crisis-based appointment. I ended up getting back to work late, which added to my stress, and received no help for what I was experiencing or support for my grief.I gave 2 stars because the person making the appointments has always been really helpful and nice. Shes the best part of this business.
If you need real help DO NOT GO HERE! I reported Toni Napolis mal-practice to the State But got No Help because the situation automatically becomes a he-said, she-said situation unless its a crime. I assure you, if you are a man or parent, YOU WILL NOT BE GIVEN FAIR CONSIDERATION UNLESS YOU ABSOLUTELY AGREE TO THEIR GODLESS VIEWS OF LIFE--i.e. There is no truth.
