Our neighbors to the north, The Native American Pima People are always friendly and professional at my favorite Landfill. Like to give a special thanks to the guys that work the front entrance weighing station. Also so prompt and helpful to get me on my way to dispose of my debris. Thank you City Dump !!
Good place to dump your garbage. Service was quick and easy and the routes were well marked. The lines are long, probably because of the ease of use.
Long lines with wait for entry and exit. The team was friendly and the activity was gueling at 106 degrees farenheit. The unloading went quickly 15 minutes. The combined wait time was more than an hour with 25+ vehicles waiting on each side. Note that they do require masks and the visit is CASH ONLY.
Wow, I read other reviews and thought they can’t be that bad. I went Saturday. They where worse!!! So rude that I left and drove straight to Weinberger waste in Gilbert spent a couple more dollars but way nicer facility great customer service they take credit cards! Go to any other dump the next closest/cheapest is Weinberger at Cooper and Guadalupe. Salt river landfill you have serious issues.
Super clean (for a landfill) and very well run. The nicest staff, very helpful and friendly which was great for a newbie to the landfill. Easy way to clean out your home/garden. BRING CASH AND WEAR A FACE MASK!!Its a landfill people. Not gonna be able to drive the family sedan up the hill as easily as a truck. Its a landfill. If you visit at prime-time, you will have a wait in line.Think construction, lawn services, city trash and plan your trip to avoid these dumpers. Early in the morning is usually super fast.
Convinenet location and easy pay through city of Mesa utility account
I am very grateful to dump here and thank you salt river for letting us dump because I know it is a courtesy since you don’t make $ off us little guys. The ladies up front were a lil feisty, but helpful. The young lady that parked me was very very helpful as well and even took the time to assist me in getting a treadmill off my vehicle that was so heavy. Excellent customer service, especially for a landfill. I will be back.
Expect this to be a 3 hour start to finish endeavor and encounter rude staff everywhere
Once you are past the lineups and at the dump, it is efficient.Almost an hour of total lineups both in and out on a Saturday. There are several ways this could become more automated but it doesn’t appear that they want change. Most of the staff were quite nice but a few mainly at the office weigh in were quite rude .If time is worth money to you, don’t come when there are lineups!
There is literally no ways to get in touch with anybody at this location unless you physically go there. Supposedly management is right on site yet even the Indian community themselves does not have a phone number for them. The female employees here are very short and extremely rude, Expecting you to see a 4 sign Several feet away on their window and get extremely upset yelling at you to go away and talk to management refusing to take your money When you do not have better than 20/20 vision Or already know their expectations... If a commercial vehicle breaks down on the scale, they will just shut down the lane and make all the residents wait for 45 minutes behind the commercial vehicles instead of moving the vehicle off of the scale or allowing residents to bypass the dump trucks, Extraordinarily on apologetic about that type of situation as well. I will be getting an extra trash can from my city and no longer personally using this landfill .
“Smells bad, and thats good. It will never smell good, and thats not bad. Theres no smell it should rather be than bad.” -Ralph
Not kind personnel at the scale. Wouldnt serve since we cant wear a mask -OUTDOORS AWAY FROM EVERYONE- discriminating against us, then once we did borrow my sons mask to talk to her, she said we had to get our clean dirt inspected first but AGAIN wouldnt help to even TELL us where to get it inspected... only that we had to look at the website. So we had to get OUT of that horrendous line to find where to go (FYI its the main building). Nice guy came out, inspected everything and said it was fine. Told the weigh station who AGAIN gave us a hard time since we also had a TV to dump (FYI the website says they take them & that is $10) she said they dont take TVs we ascertained that it says they do on the website. She then insisted that we have to weigh in, dump the TV, weigh out, weigh BACK in, dump the CLEAN dirt, then weigh out AGAIN!!! That made this 20 min run to the dump almost 3 hours! To dump clean, inspected, dirt (FREE according to the website) & $10 (again according to the website) for a TV. This should not have taken 4 trips past the scales to accomplish! I hope they FIRE that woman for discriminating, rude, harrassing treatment, made everyone have to go through the scale each time. That was utterly INSANE!!!
What a great place to dump.
I have been coming to this dump for decades. Well run and clean for a dump. They get you in and out quickly even on a Saturday and during CoVid. Keep it up.
They dont accept railroad ties but they take everything else. Im still pleased. They are a great asset to our community.
Absolutely rude here.
Completely unorganized and workers are extremely rude. They only take paper bills from mesa city so if you get paperless billing they dont take it. What a joke! Also an hour wait just to leave.
Its way too hot right now umin Arizona to make dump runs to be sure to bring plenty of water with you.
Prices were fair enough and staff was friendly, but this place is a mess... They dont keep it clean at all and you drive over trash to get to the spot they want you at. They need to keep the dumping area scaped better so people dont have to 4 wheel in the dump.
Their website said they recycle televisions, but they do not. At least not anymore. All they can do is put it in the dump. Just an FYI if youre trying to find a place to recycle old electronics; SRL doesnt provide that service.
Zero stars would be too much. Scale house operator: excessively rude and discriminatory. The guy that checked my load, the only respectable person I engaged with. I know its a landfill but this place is trash. Will take my business ANYWHERE ELSE.
Expect to wait at the scales, City of Mesa dump once with *PAPER* Utility Bill to get to dump otherwise its *CASH ONLY*Also, NO TIRES! I had to bring 2 back with me. The earlier the better...
I will drive further and happily pay more. Long lines. Ridiculous inconsistant mask policy. Inept, inefficient, typical municipal service. I would also give it no stars if possible. I gurss its fine if you dont value your time, they clearly dont.
The staff is really bad no customer service at all if you dont like your job that is your problem dont make it the customers!!
Dump price per ton is reasonable, mask required. Weighs in and weighs out.
A bit of a drive for me and I thought I was going to have to pay a $10 recycling fee to get rid of a large flat panel TV that went belly up, but they sent me up the hill to dump it and it only cost me 75¢. The important thing to remember is to bring cash because thats all they accept and even for such a small load they needed a minimum $5 deposit when going in and then they refund anything more than the charge when leaving.
I drove up in a sedan to dispose of a big old CRT TV as their website showed a fee of only $10. Fair enough. I wish I had known however, that I would have to drive up into the dump proper to reach the roll off containers where electronics were to be taken. The trip was fast and the 3 employees I talked to were all friendly and efficient. But I might have chosen to pay a higher price to dispose of the TV in town, if I had known I was risking getting a flat tire, what with the last 100 yards of the drive being over rough dirt with lots of trash and construction debris mixed in.
Kept clean and great service. The line to get in backs up on some days but they keep things moving pretty well. If you need recycling for old TVs. Computers, etc., they now have it available.
The lady at the window refused me service because I tried to give another person a mask - a person she was refusing service to because he did not have a mask. She took a total power trip and should be fired. This happens a lot based on the reviews. Around 8am on July 17th. She has no right to refuse service to customers who are doing nothing wrong. This is a public service. I will be making complaints anywhere I can.
Its so sad to be treated disrespectfully. I am a human being and never feel like it when going there. When i approach the window they cant wait to do anything they can to show who is incharge. I do my part to properly dispose of items and i am stuck dealing with it because they are the only dump site in my area. It becomes clear why people dump illegally.
All is too disorganized, too much time waiting to enter and exit. Workers dont be friendly.
This place was reasonably priced and....the cashier staff was very nice and the men at the dump site very friendly and helpful as well. Helped me unload my truck which I appreciated as an older woman. I will use them again.
Went to the landfill for the first time Saturday. Judy weighted us in and could not have been ruder. We did not know how it worked. There were no signs that we could see saying get out of your car and come to the window. The truck in front of us did have someone come out and talk to them at their window so we thought someone would come out. Judy yelled from her window well someone has to get out of the car. We did not bring the lasted City of Scottsdale bill so she told us in as rude a way as possible that we could go home and get a current bill or put a deposit down of $20.00. My husband was the one who got out of the car but the bill was in my name so I then got out of the car to clarify. She started yelling only one of you out of the car at a time. My husband gets back in the truck and I try and get out of her what 1000 pound cost. She continued to say we could put a deposit down of $20.00 I said I am trying to figure out if it cost $20.00 or $200.00, to determine if it worth going home. She said if it were $200.00 I would have asked you for a $200.00 deposit. She was rude, condescending and completely unhelpful. We asked for help 2 other times while in the landfill and those folks were very helpful and pleasant and we really appreciated them. The landfill is great-easy and inexpensive but Judy should not be working with the public.
Easy disposal of trash. Just follow the signs and drop off. I wouldn’t go with a car, since the last 100 yards you drive over trash. 1 Star for the smell.
Fairly straight forward. Decent price.
The landfill itself, fine. It is what it is. The employees, however, suck more than all the Kirbys in the world. The reviews here are NOT exaggerated; they are rude, arrogant, downright a-holes.
At the front office, there is a sign posted that indicates no mask, no service. However, at the actual disposal site, the employee approached my vehicle and was not wearing a mask. I pointed to my mask and through my window showed him that I wanted him to wear his mask. He looked irritated and pulled up his t-shirt over his face. I pointed to my mask, again. He was very irritated and, finally, put his mask on. I rolled down my window and handed him my receipt. He looked at it and coughed all over it. I told him that it was disgusting. I am 70 years old and have a heart ailment.I did tell the supervisor at the front office of my experience. I showed her a picture of the employee. She indicated that she would talk to the employee. This occurred on September 16, 2020. We have a mask mandate in place.
This place has very rude people all times
Went to the dump on 5/4/20. I produced my City of Mesa Utility Bill. It was not accepted because it does not look like the example the employee has. I have paperless billing and the statement that is available on the updated Mesa website does not look the their example. I tried to explain this but was rudely shut down. The employee was very curt and rude. It was a terrible experience.
They will nickel and dime you every chance they get.
Great everybody is very professional.
The worker sout there were really helpful. Thanks
I just moved to Mesa from out of state. I followed the rules on their website, and brought my ID which matched the name on my bill on my mobile phone. The attendant told me that I have to have a paper bill to use an ID where only the name matches. I waited in line for 30 minutes before this point. No where on their website does it give this requirement. Horrible unwritten rule and even more terrible customer service.
Hey, its a dump...you expect it to smell sweet? Staff is courteous and charges are extremely reasonable. Go Wed. or Thurs. for shorter lines. They post that advice, so you can plan ahead. If you complain about long lines, take a moment to realize they provide a service few others do...of course lines are long! They service our community.
Easiest place in the valley to get rid of your junk
Fair pricing and very helpful staff. Not a frequent customer so need directions on where to dump what. Staff very helpful!
Very cheap awesome atmosphere we went mudding
My mask broke unloading and she threatened to keep my change because I didnt have one on the way out and she was very rude
Everybody at this land fill is very disrespectful
The rude hispanic lady at the front window is extremely unpleasant and should not be allowed to continue to represent a state facility? Im ashamed of you letting her speak to paying customers that way.
3.147 stars. Old school dump comes with crabby employees and a 42% chance of contracting tetanus. You gotta love it! No chance the site is haunted as it is much too hot. Ghosts hate heat and direct sunlight. Id go back except on Sundays and observed holidays.
Nice customer service, easy to drop off recycling.
Took a long time waiting in line
Best prices only $39 per ton. Process isnt the most pleasant (what can you expect, you are going to a dump right??) To clarify, its a cash only dump, they determine what you pay when you arrive and the prices vary per individual worker. For example, I take the same load to the dump every week, same weight, same material. I am used to leaving a $30 deposit, a month or so back, a new lady told me to leave $50. She would not go down in price nor listen to me so I had to turn around and come back later with $50. The routes to get to the dumping spots are pitted/muddy/rough so expect to get your vehicle dirty and expect a bumpy ride! For the most part, employees there are nice and helpful. Overall going to the dump isnt fun regardless, I like the prices here but if you dont mind paying a little for for a more pleasant experience I would try elsewhere.
This place is a dump...
I realize this is a dump, so my expectations are not high. But the lady at the weigh station was so incredibly rude. She talked down to me and treated me like absolute garbage. Awful experience. I will drive to Phoenix next time I need to use a landfill.
I make anywhere from 1 to 5 trips a day here never have a problem I understand @ some days can have long lines but they do there best for the cash only side be ready have your water bill or 50 cash with you @ all times and you will dramatically lower the wait time
Thank you for taking our stuff! Staff is always nice.
Its a dump.
Service is always friendly and prices are right. Much like others, we use various dumps, depending upon location of the work. We dont have the benefit of getting the use for free (or credited to our bills) because we are a commercial user. Either way, we always carry cash to cover our expenses where required.Only complaint I have is that dont accept credit cards and many of the people that use the facility have not done their homework before arriving. They are the reason the facility gets backed up!!NOT THE FAULT OF THE FACILITY RATHER, NOT SO SMART CONSUMERS
Smells bad, but still a great facility with reasonable prices.
I’m a regular customer. Nice women run the office but the guys who direct the traffic line let their friend skip the line while the rest of us patiently wait.
Talk about a tough job. These people provide quite a service to us and I think they should be appreciated.Thank You Salt River Landfill!
OMGG! Such a horrible experience.1st- The rate at which traffic enters and exits is horrendously slow. Compared to other landfills they dont even compare.2nd- No Debt or Credit allowed. Make sure to bring Cash!3- No paved roads4- One positive is their are few cashiers with excellent customer service.5- Need Improvements for better efficiency.
Didnt smell too bad today
Its a rude and ugly place especially check in Those poor Hispanic landscapers swelter in the heat waiting in long slow lines to be checked in
It is 2015 and you need a PAPER bill to get the dump charge put on your City of Mesa bill? We cant take the bill brought up on a smart phone? Even though I have my drivers license with the same address. Really? I waited in line for a hour to be turned away because I didnt have $10 in cash? REALLY? How about acting like a business and not some lame mom and pop operation from the last century? HUH?
Very good experience. Arrived at 8am on Monday. Staff was very helpful & courteous. In & out in 20 minutes for pick up trucks.
Great place, they treat customers kind and with respect THANK YOU
Great
Picked up a load of recycled plastic. Very nice and courteous people.
They make up the deposit every time. For the same load it was $20 then $40 then $50 all in the same month. The time they toldme $50 I had only $40 and was made to turn around and leave after waiting half an hour to get to the window. The woman was rude and saod too bad. When I came back and went through my total was $12. I hate this place but its the only reasonable priced dump in the area.
2017 and still cash only. Wouldnt take my electronic bill from city. Compared to other landfills they are also ver over priced. There prices are on par with transfer stations. Place is also extremely messy and run down. Employees have bad work ethic especially in the scale house. If I could give 0 stars I would.
This is dump to go to. The folks are awesome. The haters must be incompetent somehow, because I have always liked the Salt River Landfill, and we frequent many dumps all over town every day while working.Just be ready with your cash deposit, and be patient. The line can be quite long when theyre busy.
Native Americans are just friendly poeple. I go here once a week. Always a wait but thats cause its worth the trip.
Thats where I work so its a five star for me
Quick and CASH ONLY
You need to transport yourself back a couple decades if you want to use this facility. One, CASH ONLY. Two, if youre trying to use your utility account, you have to present a printed paper copy. You cant show them a PDF on your cell phone. They have to stamp your paper, but they dont copy or keep it. Im not sure how stamping a print out of a utility bill is any different than stamping a blank piece of paper after you read the information from my phone and match my ID. Three, long lines on a Friday afternoon. Wasted gas and time.
Best landfill in Maricopa
Long lines getting in and out. Rude staff .. especially yard crew daniel they used to be nice. They have complicated everything.
Extremely rude staff. Long lines, no direction. Ladies in booth are slow and playing with their phones instead of giving weight slips. Guy redirecting trucks doesnt know how to direct. Makes you go thru line twice. Terrible service and even worse experience. Should get no stars.
Great service !!!Cash only
Would give it no stars if I could.
Love the work the motivation and friendly people here at the landfill.
This is not one of my favorite places but thats not due to the way they do business. So in all fairness they accommodate, are well organized and provide their services in a timely manner.
Turned away for being short on cash for a minimum deposit that was stated nowhere online or any sign approaching the payment station. Extremely rude staff, long lines. Bring exact increments of the cash they expect you to need without knowing how much your load will cost... good luck!
Theres alot of hidden rules at this place... One rule in particular is how they identify commercial accounts. They identify a commercial account as any vehicle that has a company print on it including Uhaul and Home Depot. They know that if you took the time and energy to get the rental theres no way youll not pay the fee. I recently rented the home depot truck and took a small load to the dump... I even reviewed the website before leaving which reads, The garbage must be residentially generated from a home that has solid waste collections services, and cannot be from a business. However, upon arrival, they declines my utility bill and made me pay commercial account fees. A good majority of residents dont have a vehicle that they can use to move garbage and need to utilize a rental to move items. I find this business practice extremely unprofessional, and will be spreading the word to friends and family. Thank you for your unethical business practices!
Straightforward place of business, definitely a little more for the working man than the common man but still easy in and out
Cash only. They tell you just as you get to the window. Hidden ATM somewhere but the rude jerks stealing half the cash refuse to tell you where.Cash only? Somebody is hiding something. Perhaps their partners in gambling also are in the garbage business back east....
Too many rules to residential customers of Scottsdale...easier to dump in an open lot...
Probably the rudest people I’ve met in the last 9 months. I get it...... you are dealing with trash, but there is no reason you have to act like trash. The lady behind the glass needs to go home and meditate or something.
Long lines, but they were moving.
The girls were very nice and it only cost me 1.75 to get rid of my dead clothes dryer.
ITS A DUMP PEOPLE ...? IF U WANT A GOOD EXPERIENCE GO TO A STINKING RESTAURANT... OR TO YOUR MOTHERS HOUSE FOR SOME ICE CREAM... O.M.GYOUR NOT THERE FOR FUN.. OR FOR SOME ONE TO HOLD YOUR HAND WITH A KISS & SMILE..PEOPLE GET REAL !!I DONT NEED A SMILE OR A KISS.. JUST LET ME DUMP AND I WILL BE ON MY WAYMEN PLEASE BE MEN !
Slow service. The staff is rude and arogant. I pay cash and the checkout weigh service takes either 15 minutes or half an hour to leave. Someone needs to fix this problem! 2017 and long lines are still an issue its ridiculous.
Good people, doing a great job.....ThanksCarpet TownMesa Az
Too long to get out. Wish they would have another exit weight scale. They have two scales to weigh in, but only one scale to weigh out.
Lady up front said she didnt want to get fired, yet yells and argues with a paying customer
Like Disneyland: Long lines, magical sights, stupid fees, indescribable smells, and a constant sensation that you could vom at any minute.
Nice people. It is cash only, no cards, so 4-stars.
