First time for my son and first time in a long time for me but we couldnβt have felt more comfortable as a new member at a gym! Shelby made the sign up simple and informative, Alex helped my son and I learn ways to best enjoy our memberships and the smoothies completed the whole experience! Thanks guys! π
Just wanted to jump on here and state what a wonderful gym and organization Mountainside Fitness is - Specifically the Scottsdale Pavilions location. We have been to many gyms over the years and this one is definitely home for us. The staff is amazing. Always great and communication and you can tell they care about the facility they run. The gym is always clean as well as the locker rooms. I would recommend this location to anyone looking into joining! 5 stars!
Most of the bikes in the spin room do not work and are also missing drink holders. The Bluetooth in the room goes in and out thus interrupting the flow of the class. The instructors are amazing and navigate through these challenges but this poor quality of equipment and technology is leadership responsibility. Operating this poor quality of the fitness business has an impact on moral of the members and the instructors. Are you aware of This? And we just walked over to the supplements on the wall and they are expired by 6 months. These supplements that are expired is a reflection of the low quality of leadership in the operations of this location. I hope this comment makes some changes that are positive for your members and instructors.
Honestly itβs not a bad gym but the bumper plates are what annoy me. Idk how mountain side doesnβt have a stranded for each gym. The bumper plates at shea blvd are perfect I wish they were the same here. They are way too big and there isnβt enough of them. Are there even 25lb bumper plates here because I donβt see any. Other than that itβs a good. 2 stars because good bumper plates are important to me.
I enjoyed my experience at this Mountain Side Fitness signing up and getting things rolling. The only downside is the basketball court, or lack thereof. I know some Mountainside Fitness locations have basketball courts, and some are better then others. But I would like it if every location had a basketball court and if all the courts were at least high school regulation in size. They are an amazing company and the gyms are very high quality. This is the one downside that keeps me from giving 5/5 stars.
Working with Shelby was great! I was comfortable walking to her desk, as members constantly walked by her saying their hellos, as they entered the gym. Cool vibe!
Big fan of Mountainside Fitness at the Pavilions! The staff is fantastic - super friendly, fun, knowledgeable, professional and, best of all, welcoming! I have been made to feel part of the community there and am very grateful for that. The facilities and equipment are beyond adequate and are well maintained and clean. A first class operation for sure...I highly recommend!
Angelina was extremely kind and helpful- I look forward to using your facility knowing there will be many there with encouraging and helpful knowledge so I can have a great experience getting back on my journey
The gym in it of itself is a good gym. However, I CANCELLED my subscription back in November of 2019 in lieu of a cheaper gym. In December of 2020, Mountainside randomly began to CHARGE ME AGAIN.Despite 6+ back and forth calls, I was never able to get a hold of someone that actually had the authority to stop the charges. I worked with my credit card company to refund me everything they charged while blocking future attempts from to the charge me. Today, DEBT COLLECTORS called me - I now have to spend even more time printing out my proof of cancellation and mailing it to them since the debt collectors dont accept emails in 2021. DO NOT RISK STARTING A MEMBERSHIP HERE, IT IS NOT WORTH IT.
Amazing gym with great staff. Locker room is clean. Great price highly recommend.
Great gym - Ive been a member of Mountainside for years and have always had great experiences there. Highly recommend!
Made signing up super easy to come back to the gym after 1 year
I appreciate the versatility in the classes they offer. The instructors are awesome! All of the staff is professional and friendly.
Ive been a member at Mountainside Fitness since 2009... the Pavilions location specifically since Feb. of 2020. This facility is top notch!!! Great equipment, plenty of space for functional training. It is always clean which is a big pet peeve of mine (I feel very safe working out here during COVID). The staff is second to none and always friendly & pleasant.
Shelby gave me a tour a few weeks ago and I was impressed by the facility. She was very thorough and accommodating when I asked to try a yoga class in the moment. I wasnβt able to go back until today, but she recognized me mask and all. She helped me sign up quickly and painlessly and Iβm excited to get back into movement and health.
Mountainside Fitness is a great gym with a lot of weight and machine options. When I am looking for a gym I am looking for a well lit, clean space, with a lot of workout options. The staff was very friendly as well. I am giving them a 4 star instead of 5 star because of how the interaction went from what was online vs what staff onsite was able to do. There was some confusion about how a 1-5 day pass worked when I showed up so I ended up paying $15 for my workout that day. I left management a note and followed up with a phone call. We were able to get things worked out and the outcome was fair.If you are trying out gyms I would recommend you try them out for the 1 or 5 day pass and see what you think. Make sure you understand everything prior to going and that you talk to member services so you understand what you are agreeing to prior to showing up.
There gym is fine, but their policy is scummy. I was unaware that I had to be in person to cancel my membership, no phone cancellation, no online, nothing. F
Im visiting my 60+ year old parents for a month in Arizona, and thought Id join a reasonably priced gym nearby in order to continue training for powerlifting competitions. I was slightly annoyed by the No Chalk rule, and the lack of barbells with center knurling in the tiny, overcrowded power rack section, but I can handle it for a few weeks. My mother has asked me to help her train the squat, bench press, press, and deadlift, to increase overall muscular and skeletal strength. So after my heavy 6am workouts, I pick her up and take her back to help coach her on these movements. I AM NOT A PAID TRAINER, ONLY ATTEMPTING TO HELP MY OWN MOTHER. The first day we were in there, they sent the biggest trainer they have in the building to come talk to me about what I was doing. He said for liability purposes, I had to go rep for rep, set for set with her. So be it. Its a minor annoyance, but I decided to comply the next session. The following session, he once again came up to me, and said that I had to do MY OWN working weights while working with her. This is not an option, as my working weights are relatively very heavy, and the person I train with early in the morning knows how to spot and work side-by-side with me - my 63 year old mother DOES NOT.I am appalled at the fact that I pay $45/month for this overcrowded gym, and I AM NOT ALLOWED TO HELP MY OWN MOTHER learn the basic compound movement - movements I am certain the trainers at the facility would not be teaching her.I am convinced that this policy is more out of fear at the lost income for functional fitness training than it is for liability. The young man told me I WAS ANNOYING HIM because he had to keep approaching me.I will be calling Mountainside to ask if there is any way to get this body-builder functional fitness trainer to stop harassing me while I coach my mother on movements that I am certain will benefit her as she ages.
Iβve been a member at many different gym brands and Mountainside Fitness is at the top of the list for quality. The Scottsdale location is always clean, the staff is always happy and willing to help, and Ann is a great manager! I would definitely recommend this facility to anybody !
This location is always busy with long wait times for any machines. There is zero enforcement of COVID protocols with most members not wearing masks in my experience. They charge a ton of hidden fees, make it impossible to cancel and have poor communication, never picking up the phone. Watch what you are actually charge, as they charged me higher than the monthly price on multiple occasions. You can find a better, safer gym.
It satisfies my basic needs. I just workout enough to stay in shape. The facility is clean and pretty spaced out. The people who work there are nice. I wish the peak performance zone was a little bigger, but its okay. I also like that if theres a problem with a machine, it actually gets attended to because at my previous gym there was a treadmill that was out of service for months.
Friendly staff and plenty of fitness options!
The general manager and all the staff are very welcoming. The center has all the variety you could want... from classes to weights and machines.
The staff is friendly and answer any questions you may have. Also, the gym is kept very clean at all times and all equipment is maintained. Machines and equipment are top quality.
Its a fun environment with friendly staff
The overall experience at Mountainside Fitness is amazing. The facility is spotless and the staff goes out of their way to make the guests feel welcome. Zenas and Ann just made my day with their outstanding service. I highly recommend joining Mountainside Fitness!!
Besides the fact that I teach hereTheres positive energy when youre training here- it can get busy in the evenings, but the members are welcoming and courteous
Hands down one of the best gyms in the valley. Friendly staff, clean facility and up to date equipment!!!
Shelby with member services was very thorough and friendly. Have me a tour of the club as well as answered all of my questions. Very clean gym!
This gym has no consideration for itβs customers. I have been attempting to work with the Scottsdale Pavilions location. I called to cancel my membership several months ago due to the Covid-19 pandemic. I sent a letter to the corporate office per the managementβs instructions. I called to follow up to ensure the letter was received. At that point the manager waived my October membership fees to ensure I was not charged any longer. I was then charged again for November. I contacted management again and they are now claiming they never received a cancellation request at all and have no record of me calling to follow up. It is very disappointing that this business is attempting to deceive their customers and charge members who would be unsafe or unable to utilize gym facilities during this pandemic. With a lack of assistance from management I have been forced to contest the charge with my credit card company in order to resolve this issue. Please beware as this business is dishonest and will attempt to charge you regardless of engaging in a valid cancellation process.I would like to add to this review. As per the response by the owner below, they requested I call them as they would be willing to help me. However, when I called them, they were not at all willing to help me. When I brought to their attention that my membership contract was up in October, they claimed that because they were closed for two months due to the pandemic, I would now be responsible to pay until December. I am in disbelief that this institution is engaging in not only despicable customer service but fraudulent activity as well. It is truly a shame that a business would act this way especially during the time of the covid-19 pandemic where many individuals are unable to use their facilities due to health concerns and just want to cancel their membership through a valid cancellation process.
Shelby was amazing! She was so sweet and informative. She is truly as asset!
I have belonged to Mountainside for 6 years and love it. Sometimes I do classes and sometimes I use the personal training. I enjoy both services. They offer towel service which makes it really easy to head to work right after. Sometimes I forget my food and get a smoothie. This place makes it easy to exercise. I highly recommend this place!
Be ware.......I cancelled my membership in May due to Covid! Careful this gym charged my account several times after cancelling. I had to report them to my credit card company as fraud. They continue to call and harass me to join the back the gym! I have had to report them to the National Do Not Call Registry. Poor management!!!
I wanted to take a moment to leave a review. I recently moved from the North West Valley to the East Valley. I am very particular about my gym and what it has to offer. I have been a member since the beginning of this year and I love the Happy Valley location when I lived in that area. After moving I was at a loss as to which location would be best for me. There are three within 5 miles of my new house, so I had to try them all. This was the last one and my last hope of having the right location for me. I have never had so many members show so much courtesy to one another until I went here. People let each other work out without getting in the way and know how to take turns. There are machines that I have been dying for but arent at the other locations there for me to finally use. People rack their weights! That is a real thing??! What! It is such a relief and I really look forward to going there and knowing that I will be able to get my workout in without a fight or inconsiderate people. This is my new home. So Thank you!
I enjoy working out here. However seeing that staying hydrated is a major part of working out you would like the drinking fountains would be refrigerated. At best the water is Luke warm to warm. With the dues we pay and how crowded it is... come on. Nothing worse than hot drink of water after a good workout. Btw, would jump to 5 star if not for drinking fountains.
I have tried about every gym and then some and I couldnt be happier with Mountainside. They open at 4:30 which is great for my morning workouts, and the staff is very friendly even at those early hours. Best of all they upgrade their equipment all the time. In my experience, most gyms promise a lot and deliver a little when it comes to listening to equipment requests. So far Mountainside has really exceeded my expactations.
Great energy, clean and positive environment.
Love this gym! Great equipment. Super clean. Friendly staff. Best part is the Kid club! Ive finally found a gym that can watch my infant son and can feel very comfortable with them watching him while I workout! ππΌππΌ
I have been a member of Mountainside Fitness for almost 2 years and I love it! The variety of quality equipment and ability to use all locations is something that I really enjoy about Mountainside. My trainer Tim is so helpful and knowledgeable, and his manager Will is always there answer any billing questions that I have. Join this gym!!!
I would have given this location a 5 star but Michelle the location manager was RUDE and DISRESPECTFUL. I totally understand that you have to protect your employees but dont ever compare your RETAIL EMPLOYEES to the MARINES and the MILITARY. I try to see the best in people but this lady/manager was extremely rude and out of line comparing her retail employees to our MAN and WOMEN serving our great country.....#USMC.
I initially came in for just a free week pass to check them gym out, and I was being assisted by Quentin. While I was sitting down an irate customer stormed up to my salesperson (Quentin) βs desk upset that he misplaced his keys. Quentin quickly began trying to assist the member, but the member continued to get more frustrated and angry. The member began to use foul language causing Quentin to act fast and ask him to please refrain from doing so and to be professional. Luckily, the situation was diffused. After the whole incident Quentin was very apologetic to me and still assisted me with signing up. I write this review because it was great to see my salesperson not lose his cool and remain professional. I am now a new member of this gym. Great job Quentin, and thanks for your service to our great country.
LOVE IT!!- Fabulous facility and instructors
It was really easy to get my 5 day trial to start ASAP. The only concern I have is the hours of operation dont suit me. The only time I find in my day to work out usually lands in the middle of the night. Im going for the freebie though. If I get blown away I will consider it full time.
Hands down probably the best gym for the money. I recently moved out of Arizona and currently searching for a new gym. Im really missing this mountain side location to say the least... Gym was always clean, machines were well kept, and the ppl were nice. For what you get here the value is awesome. The closest thing to mountain side in the area I currently live is Lifetime fitness. If you are familiar with Lifetimes north scottsdale location you know that it comes with a hefty price tag. Now that I compare everything to mountainside, 24 hour fitness, LA fitness, and even Golds (some locations) might as well be buckets of rusty nails.
The DJ cycle on Friday evenings is the best!!! I canβt believe a class like this is included in the membership...... and they supply sweat towels for free.... AMAZING
I usually workout at 4:30 am and the staff is always super friendly (what!? That early?! Crazy right!?) when I arrive and the space is new and clean. Im super impressed the gym takes the time to personally respond to reviews for customers who have a less than exceptional experience. Way to go!Sometimes the mens sauna has towels/toilet paper in it (I think people try and cover the heat ducts or thermometer). This is my only piece of negative feedback. Maybe just check it a little more through the day.Wish they had a more lenient guest pass policy.Drive from Arcadia for this gym, LOVE IT!
Very impressed with the level of friendliness and customer service at this location. I have visited a couple of the locations and this one by far is the friendliest and most helpful. James in Membership was wonderful in helping me with my account. The gym is clean, good equipment and GREAT classes. I love the Sunday morning Zumba class with Gina.
I love this place the staff in the morning is very friendly the redhead is an excellent employee
Over all good facility good equipment. However the steam room needs to be cleaned out more often only cleaning it once a day in the night is not good very unhealthy. This is an issue at all the clubs I visited all over the valley they need to be rinsed out 10 min procedure. Everyone who works in these facilities know slow periods there should be and I believe is a maintenance room or a faucet close by the steam room. Members will not find this anything but great once they understand the reasoning. This was what I did when I maintained a facility then the steam room never gets to be a unhealthy space. There are many people all over the internet complaining of health problems they caught in a steam room. whether this is true or not this is a problem that does not need to exist.
I go to the gym in th mornings around 6am. I love the extensive cross-training equipment that the organization provides. Thank you for giving me all that I need Tom and team.
Awesome gym with nice amenities. They offer a free trial so you can check it out. The staff doesnt pressure you when youre getting more info and doing the free trial, unlike some other gyms where the staff is extremely overbearing.
Super clean and owner is awesome!
Gym is clean and functional areas are nice. A pool and or basketball court would be nice. Staff isnt super friendly and appears to have turned over all but about 2 people since I started going there 10 months ago. Overall Im a fan.
I have absolutely no idea what everyone is complaining about. This is a great, locally owned chain of gyms which caters to a wide variety of needs. Whether youre lifting, doing cardio, taking classes, or using machines Ive had a positive experience 99% of the time Ive gone. Yes the internet connection is shaky but this is a great service, especially at a relatively low price point.
Just got a membership at the Pavilions locations. The facility is very beautiful and clean and I felt good about paying for the membership. I havent been to a gym in over 3 years and I was sadly disappointed my first day there. The customer service was pretty pathetic, if existent. I was extremely nervous about starting to work out again, and the cycle class I attended was a good workout, but I had no idea what I was doing and no one bothered to help. It was clear I was the new girl and the instructor not only didnt acknowledge my presence (there were 4 people in the class, come on now), she didnt even bother to explain to me how the machine worked. Fortunately Im smart enough to figure it out on my own. The gym will get the job done, but certainly no smiley friendly places to welcome you and make you feel comfortable in an already nerve racking awkward environment. Certainly doesnt meet the Scottsdale standard of outstanding customer service. Bummer.
In my opinion, Mountainside Fitness is a DISHONEST ORGANIZATION that purposely ignores the written terms of their Membership Agreements, by design. Upon joining the gym, I paid first and last months dues. I properly terminated my membership during the last week of the month. The contract specifically states, Cancellations will need to be completed by the last day of the month to avoid being responsible for the next months dues. There is no contractual language pertaining to any sort of 30 day notice of termination. Because they automatically debit your checking account the first of the month for their dues, when you end your contract you find yourself in a position of having paid the last months dues twice. I pointed out this double payment to MARCIA ENCINAS the manager in writing, and was told bluntly, we do not refund last months dues. Because in my case it was only $78.00, they seem to be banking on the fact that its not worth hiring an attorney to fight this unjust situation. My father-in-law used to tell me that if you lay down with dogs, you are going to get flees. BUYER BEWARE! If you do business with this organization, you deserve what you get.
Ive been working out at Mountainside fitness for the past three years and Ive been very happy with this gym. I have no complaints, have never had any issues and only good things to say. This gym is clean and has towel service, what more can you ask for?
Thank you Ann for the shake!
I wanted to take this moment to give a special shout out to my personal trainer/rehab therapist which he has been in my life for more than 6 years. Tim Hunter is not an ordinary trainer, but has been my mentor whom has guided me to be the best and has guided me to the next level of my fitness. Tim has his graduate degree and specializes in Physiology. He truly understands the human anatomy and how to change your body the fastest.Although, when he took me on as a client it took longer to get me to my goals due to not being symmetrical, and he had to make sure that I was strong in a certain areas, before allowing me to get to the next level. This was important because he didnβt want me to get injured. Most trainers dont seem to realize that each person is different and they canβt train in a cookie cutter way. They need to want to get better and continue with their education and how the body works.Tim has worked with professional athletes in his past, but in his stage of his career he only wants to help people who need to get better for health reasons and to prevent long term health issues or unnecessary surgeries. I feel, that most people donβt give him enough credit because he works at βMountainsideβ however, he could have a job anywhere at this point, but prefers to help is long term clients. He is passionate in what he does and it shows when he takes the time to study you case and goals. With all this being said, Tim is the real deal because he is the one stop shop for rehab and he understands injuries. I pulled my quad when I tripped over something going into my house on Tuesday evening and I couldnβt even walk. He made time to help me in the morning to start evaluating my pull. I had a stage 1 tear/pull, but he kept compressing it and working around my area to help me get mobile again. He truly understands injuries and knows when you need to see a doctor, and when to not see one. He has been working on me since Wednesday, and I feel so well thus far. There is so much more to do, but thank goodness for all the knowledge he has fed me to be self aware that I needed to have someone push out the adema that I had on my superficial quad muscle and he knew hat only getting blood flow to the trauma area would heal my pull and make me feel better. If you ever need anything please consult my long term therapist/trainer Tim Hunter at the Indian Bend location.
Please fix your wifi. Ive been coming here over 2 years and still works less than 50% of the time. Otherwise a decent relatively clean gym with newer equipment.
Lots of space. Very quiet off hours. Nice staff. Clean facilities.
Iβm a new member and love this place. Iβve had memberships to numerous fitness facilities and this place is top notch. Highly recommended.
They just remodeled and added a ton of equipment like Hammer Strength and New cycle bikes! Only crazy busy day Ive encountered is Monday around 6. But still not that bad.
Best gym in Maricopa County
Overall good. Summertime is pretty miserable because the AC is subpar.
I workout at this gym every year for a couple of weeks when Im in town on vacation! I love it, its awesome! Great equipment, great facility, great staff, great daycare, even great change rooms!
Busy is good business for the gym, but extremely annoying when trying to workout. Get tired of the βcan I work in with you?β They donβt have enough of each type of equipment. Large open CrossFit area forces them to cram the other stuff.
Love this place. Ive been a member for the last three years, the equipment is always clean and fuctional never broken down. Front desk always frendly, the rest of the workers are always helpful. I was a member at LA Fitness before Mountainside and you cant compare, Mountainside is way better!
Love this gym! So many new additions, new machines, and upgrades! Our family loves this location!
First gym Ive ever seen actually follow through with their commitments to upgrade equipment and keep improving it. Just got all new spin bikes and cross fit equipment with more weight machines to be upgraded soon!
I really like this gym. Rarely too crowded, staff is friendly, professional and not pushy, friendly group of people to work out with
I moved up to Shea area and needed a gym to call home and I found that Mountainside Indian Bend was my best bet in the area. It was easy to sign up and I go almost every morning. What I enjoy about the club is that every morning no matter what, the front desk always greets me with a nice hello and departing words of have a great day. I like that. Having been a member at LA, Lifetime, Powerhouse, Xsport and a few others, I never really got much of a look up and if I did get something it felt fake. Ive never had a situation that came up regarding a broken machine or trouble not getting on a machine, however I go very early so this doesnt apply at 4:30am. I watch the trainers with Core and they know what theyre doing, theyre involved and care. The facilities at Indian Bend are really really clean, I was at another location due to work taking me out there and it was nowhere near in shape as the Indian Bend location, so props to them. I cant comment on service regarding cancelling the memberships but I can tell you that everyone should thoroughly read and understand the responsibilities from the clients end of terminating a contract, Ive always checked and double checked every contract from every health club and they usually are always the same. To this point, everyone at MSF and the location are perfect.
When I had a membership here this was my favorite location, even over the one I signed up at in Chase Field. Its a big gym with a lot of equipment. Everything is clean and theres even a steam room and a sauna in the locker room (ladies locker room for sure, Id imagine the mens room would be the same but never went in there haha).
Definitely enjoy this place the staff is great as well.
Its a good gym. Had no problem with it until recently, but now I have a fundamental issue with one of the gyms seemingly recent policies:Ive been working out here for a bit over a year. Since starting, I almost exclusively workout in the functional training area where the majority of equipment consists of barbells -- most of which have knurling that has been worn down almost completely, I assume due to zero upkeep -- and plates. Because of the quality of the knurling on the barbells I have been using chalk the entire time I have been at Mountainside and have seen many, many other members doing the same.Buuuut, last month, the manager informed me that Mountainside Fitness does not allow the use of chalk. My assumption is that this is because it would be a major inconvenience to employees, requiring them to vacuum the floor and wipe down plates on a regular basis, and perform maintenance on the barbells... wait, shouldnt they already be doing that?I have been using liquid chalk since then, but assume I will be told not to use that either as it still leaves a minor residue on plates and bars. This boils down to the staff not wanting to do their job at the expense of safety (sweaty, un-chalked hands and smooth barbells = bench press decapitations, among other things). If Mountainside is really looking to capture and keep members who are interested in weightlifting, Crossfit, powerlifting, or those just interested in learning barbell movements in general, chalk should be allowed; hell, chalk should be provided as it creates a much better lifting experience and provides an inordinate amount of safety for a vanishingly small cost, in terms of both time and money.
MountainSide Fitness in the Valley is without a doubt the preeminent Fitness facility... I spend many weeks traveling around the World bicycle racing for Team USA πΊπΈ. Iβm often at the Olympic Training Center in Colorado, and other training facilities throughout the country. MountainSide Fitness outshines all of them. Itβs far cleaner, itβs equipment is far newer, and the staff is by far the nicest. You would think the Olympic center would be the best, but itβs only second best compared to MountainSide. At the moment Iβm training for World Championships next week in the Netherlands, and I wouldnβt dream of training anywhere else. Iβm more than happy to be contacted by anyone who has questions, because itβs that good. Iβm often approached by members who are impressed and inspired by my intensity. This is the only place with that kind of camaraderie. MountainSide Fitness Rocks!
Very clean and updated facility. WiFi is terrible. The cross-fitters have taken over every freakin corner of this place. When classes are not in session, you will find the rooms full of grunting plankers. I do love the yoga classes and instructors! Id give 5 stars if the WiFi was better and if I could only find a spot to quietly do abs without an audience.
Glad I joined this gym. Its still open.
Been there past few years since moving back and staff is always great very impressed.. π
Took cycle class...amazing! Great music and energy.
