I always use Hertz as they are kind, patient and helpful. Only four stars as the online site must have super tiny postscripts about how much a deposit is and their policy on which credit cards are okay to use for deposit and rental. I never saw that fine print at all.
I reserved a vehicle through Expedia. I needed to pick the car up at 5PM which Expedia said is fine. I showed up at 5 to find the rental agency closed. I called their 1-800 number posted and I was told that I should be able to rent the car because the site doesn’t close until 5:30. I argued with the operator for 10 minutes about if they were closed or not, then I asked to speak to a supervisor. Hertz put me on hold for 1 hour and 15 minutes. I hung up and called back, I was told by another operator that there was noting they could do and I asked to speak to a supervisor again, then they hung up on me. The third time I called I was told there was no supervisor and that there was nothing they could do to help me. So at this point I had no vehicle and Hertz had already billed me for the rental. Explain that. Save yourself some trouble and don’t go through Hertz, they obviously don’t care about their customers and basically are comfortable with ripping you off. My company has a corporate account with them and I am determined to do everything in my power to change that.
This neighborhood site is small and busy, but they do their best to serve customers well. Enjoyed driving a nearly brand new Camry for a week at a very reasonable rate. Thank you!
If I could give less, I would.I rented a car for 8 days via Travelocity.I went to the SV office to pick it up on Friday evening. Our itinerary showed we would return to car to the SV office on Saturday evening. Which we did.On Monday after, I got an email stating theyd charged us for 10 days plus a late return fee.Because we returned on the weekend and theyre not open, we were charged until Monday, plus a late fee. The manager had our itinerary that stated we would return it SV on Saturday but never mentioned the additional 2 days charge for doing so. We went outside to check the car and I specifically asked where to drop the keys since wed be returning it on Saturday when they werent open and he still didnt mention the additional charges for returning when they werent open.I called the office and spoke with the manager. Instead of helping me, he ARGUED with me. I asked repeatedly why he didnt simply tell me about the additional charges for returning to SV on Saturday when we picked up the car and he ignored my question.I called someone else in their accounting department and was treated with respect and courtesy. She apologized repeatedly for the rudeness I endured while speaking with Rick. She credited my account without question or hassle. All he had to do was mention that returning the car while they were closed meant I would be charged until Monday and we would have returned the car in Santa Cruz instead but he did not. They count on people either not noticing the additional charges or not wanting to go through the hassle of pursuing the refund. We will never, EVER rent from the SV office again!!! It is definitely worth the drive to Santa Cruz to deal with an honest and respectable business.
I reserved the car on the internet for the next day and provided my credit card information. I called before I went to the location to make sure the car was available. The phone rang 20 times, no answer. I go to the location and there is no car available. No email, no call. Lousy service.
This place is JOKE!!! Why do you show vehicles online that you do NOT actually have in inventory. Showed a pickup truck, reserved pickup truck and everything seemed fine. Booked for about 2 hour later, got a call when I was 5 minutes away saying they didnt have any trucks and the Scotts Valley location didnt even have a car available. There was 16 vehicle online when I reserved the truck. So I was told if I wanted to drive to Santa Cruz they could rent me a SUV. That doesnt do me any good as I needed the pickup bed. But I also needed to get back to Benicia. Asked if Santa Cruz could bring the SUV to Scotts Valley as I was hitching a ride to get the rental car and they basically said they couldnt help me out. Luckily driving into Santa Cruz there was an Enterprise car rental with several cars and 2 brand new Dodge pickups available for rental and they took care of me in minutes.
Very friendly and competent service.
This is the second time I have rented a car from this particular branch, and it is the second time they have failed to have the car ready at the appointed pick-up time. I am not going to give them a third time to disappoint.
Good experience with a last minute rental. Very helpful staff.
Good, fast courteous service. Eady, clean process.
Reserved online only to get to the location, wait 30 minutes, and then be told that they didnt actually have a car for us. Then made it seem like it was our fault for making a reservation online instead of calling them directly. Dont use this location if you arent getting your car worked on at that body shop--they made it clear that they bump all other reservations in favor of the body shop. On top of this, the employees were extremely rude and made the entire process seem like we were to blame.
The man that works here is SO RUDE! How he remains employed is a mystery to me. Only reason I used that location is because they are at the same location as the body shop my insurance used for repairs. NEVER will I go back, even if I return to that body shop again.
I made a Last minute appointment and they took care of me. Easy-Peasy!
Great service
It was just ok
