There is an old man there named Michael who has followed young girls home. The staff is aware of this and does nothing about it. He is taller, wears a bandana and gloves and carries a fast food cup. He will approach young women and stalk them first around the gym and then proceed to follow you home. DO NOT GO TO THIS GYM if you are a young woman or otherwise care about your safety. Staff shows absolutely no interest in protecting the women that go to this location

The staff is always friendly and very helpful. Wonderful place to spend the evening if you want to swet. Believe it or not its one of those places you dont want to go but youre like to go there. The staff is always friendly though there has been a lot of Staff turnover recently due to the stupidity thats going on in the country. Itll be nice when we can get back to actually having a business that is profitable because people are well-trained and take care of their patrons. The staffs that they have are dedicated and loyal and very friendly just very inexperienced. Though this is a franchise I still feel sorry for all of the business owners that are having a struggle right now because people just dont seem to be going out because the government is regulating things that they have no business regulating.

If you just want to work out without staff bothering you this is the place for you.

This place is the Taj Mahal! I absolutely love it! Got my wife to join too. Only 1 small suggestion.....how about adding a seated lateral raise for delts?

Gym is always clean even if its busy, staff are friendly, hours are flexible which is great. Equipment options are plenty. Atmosphere is great for beginners to more experienced gym goers.

Always clean and not usually crowded. The equipment is well maintained.

The Staff at this planet fitness club made me feel uncomfortable to even come and workout, I get free membership thru my insurance policy a staff member misgendered me, then after speaking to the manager I feel nothing has happened about the ssf staff member misgendering me plus on top of that, the marketing person in a different state either in NC or SC sent to emails saying that the code my insurance provider gave makes me not eligible for membership I had to ghb o not once but twice to get this corrected with the manager talking to the insurance company 2 times the owners needs to fix this issues mainly to the misgendering of people

This Planet Fitness is fantastic! Super friendly people who work there, great equipment, clean and a great gym membership price. They have done well with the current business environment managing social distancing and requiring masks as needed--I highly recommend.

I frequented the Merrillville location before having to switch to this location, and I must say some of the equipment should be updated. The machines at the Merrillville location are the newer versions of this locations machines. The row machine is an example of an outdated macine at this location. The facility as a whole is aways clean. The 3 stars were given solely for the outdated equipment.

For the casual novice lifter, Id say its okay. If youre looking for more advanced machinery, Id say to look elsewhere. The majority of this facility is populated with a plethora of cardio machines. Its also geared more towards the meek and body conscious. That being said, dont get too pumped up, theyre very sensitive about Loud noises here. It seems to spook the locals.Its like working out in a library.For the price you pay, its decent. It also is helpful for when you are out of town and need some place to lift, so their Black Card option is good if youre a traveler.

Love me some P F. This spot is clean, fresh always greeted with a smile. The hours i go are not that busy and the machines are cleaned often.

It’s a nice gym with relatively friendly staff but they make you jump through hoops when you decide to cancel your account ( like most gyms). These folks want you to cancel either by coming in and physically signing a cancellation form (which then makes you agree to potentially more separation charges) or by sending them a notarized request via certified mail. Also, if you’re canceling within seven days of your billing cycle they charge you for an extra month.I know, I thought it was pretty funny too.

Back after a long absence. All was clean, social distancing enforced, easy access to sanitizer. So good to be able to work out again!

Great gym. Not too crowded. Wish there was an age limit to enter the gym high school students are the worst!!!

Been coming here for years. What I like most is that its CONSTANTLY BEING CLEANED. That, and no men harassing me like my previous gym. I am left alone to do my workouts in peace, while enjoying a clean environment. I know a lot of people give PF a bad rep for having pizza day. We should ALL enjoy a cheat day once in a while. Plus they arent forcing you to eat it. It nice of them to have this treat available. Black card membership totally worth it.

1. Very nice employees willing to help you immediately.2. Equipment is clean and in fine working order whenever Ive been there.3. Pricing is fantastic.What more could you want? Well it can get a little busy sometimes, but thats to be expected considering 1, 2, and 3.

They have removed the benches due to Covid-19, which makes it difficult to utilize one when working out in the morning. The machines are also outdated compared to the newer Planet Fitnesses in the area. The seated row machine here is EXTREMELY outdated.

Walked in asked if I could have a tour before i signed up. The kid at the desk was not welcoming told be the girl that was supposed to be up there might be cleaning or something but wasn’t sure and said I can wait or come back another time. Had to intention on helping me what so ever.

Friendly and helpful staff coupled with a clean and welcoming environment make this the place to be! Its the best gym experience Ive ever had. I was a regular member for a year and upgraded to a premium membership (massage equipment, tanning, half-price drinks, free guests) last year. Ill be keeping my premium for a long time to come. I adore this place and highly recommend to both beginners and advanced people.

Its what My wife and I needed as a gym. Its as low-key of an environment as a gym could be. It comes across as a clean environment with no pressure. We walk in do our thing and walk out feeling like weve accomplished something. And we have. At first Id wished the hours were a little longer, but weve made it work.

This facility is typically a clean facility. And, a nice size space. Even on a crowded day you have the opportunity to experience a good work out without feeling overwhelmed by a large crow.

Front desk girl ignored me when I approached the counter. Bad customer service skills. Implied “just scan” to a green light device that wasn’t even facing me... as if I was to know to do that? I could have just walked passed the counter and used the gym without checking in, but being this isn’t my home location, I tried to be polite. Acknowledging guests when they enter/exit the gym would be nice!

Probably one of the better Planet Fitness locations within 100 miles. This gym has everything a planet fitness should have. I have the Black membership card which allows me to visit any other planet fitness location which is amazing because I can workout with friends at different locations using my membership so Ive been to different locations. Ive recently switched my membership to this location, due to the sole reason of cleanliness and availability.This gym is probably one of the bigger locations in the area, combine that with a less populated area (compared to the rest of Northwest Indiana) and you create a gym that is not too packed during peak times with enough machines readily available. This gym also has all of the machines all the nearby Planet Fitness have, and plus some. Also the gym is always clean. No one leaves their empty plastic water bottles on the floor and everyone is there to work out and not goof around. Bathrooms dont smell like the sweaty highschool gym that all the other Planet Fitness seem to possess. This location should be an example of how all the other locations should look like

I signed up a few months ago and probably only went a few times. I went recently with my boyfriend and the guy Jonathan working nights was so friendly and helpful. He persuaded my boyfriend into signing up and have been going almost every since. Jonathan is always asking us how were doing helps me stay motivated whenever he walks by to clean something. He always tells me I can do it when Im struggling on the last few mins of my run. Would recommend. Building is very spacious and clean.

How is this a commitment free club...when you have to sign a contract for a year! And the only form of payment allowed is you are going to Debit my bank account!! And when you call to ask of this they are rude and very hard nose about it....On line when you sign up it says you can change your form of payment or use cash, but the staff pretends to NOT be aware of this!! Smh!!!!

I enjoy riding the bike for 35-40 minutes.5 miles.Massage chair, hydro massage lounger and tan.Really feel great afterwards.Happy I joined! 😎 Cool.

Very clean locker room and general areas. Plenty of equipment for whatever your workout needs. Hydro massage chairs are fantastic. Schererville location gets a little crowded.

Its a regular gym but not a typical fitness club. Overall facility is kept clean throughout. Equipment is in good condition. Lots of cardio machines, lock of free weights rather small area and perhaps overcrowded during weekdays. I couldnt find a chest bench press. A Smith machine is not a bench press!! No squaring racks only Smith machines. Do your research !

Their personal trainer is awesome. Hell push you past your limits.

Cost effective entry level fitness club with all the basic necessities to get great results. the staff is helpful and not overbearing good location.

Nice workers, easy to navigate facility, the lunk mentality is a little annoying to people who take exercising seriously. I get the concept trying to make people feel comfortable, but at the same time people arent super quiet, lazy exercisers feel uncomfortable.

So here it is, 8:15 am Jan 31, 2019 and the club still isnt open. There is a sign on the window stating the club would open at 8:00 am and was closed yesterday. Instead of sending an email blast like they do when they want you to spend more money, you had to drive to the club yesterday to find out it was closed. I left the last gym I was at because they couldnt open on time. The streets are clear, no ice on the road, sun is out. No excuse for not opening on time. Obviously, this club lacks good management. The manager or franchise owner should have been here to ensure the club opens on time as members have paid for it to do so.

As a Black Card member, Ive visited many different PF locations, but this one is by far my favorite. The staff is friendly and helpful, the spa rooms are easily accessible and readily available, the machines and locker rooms are clean, and the overall experience is always pleasant.

The coachs are motivating and encouraging, and the workouts are always different. They are tough, but adaptable to all fitness levels.

Great place. BUT the womens locker room shower area and showers need a MAJOR cleaning there is ALWAYS hair in the drain. And seems like they dont get wiped down the floors dont get swept. They need MORE WOMEN employees to clean up the womens locker room. Other than that love coming here!

This gym has let male workers into the womens locker room on at least two occasions once being on February 24, 2014. My wife was in the shower when a male worker had asked if everyone was decent. She and another member of the gym instructed the gentleman to give them a couple minutes to finish up their shower, but the gentleman let the workers in anyway to fix the sinks while she was naked in the shower. This is unacceptable.

Its an ok gym but Im upset about how they trick you. They advertise a low monthly membership fee but what they dont tell you is that there is a yearly fee for maintenance on the equipment and building. I guess thats all figured in at other gyms. BUT Wait!...IT GETS BETTER! If you cancel your membership just a few months in, they still hold all of your 12 month fee. Essentially ripping you off sense you are paying for services you are no longer receiving. Many other places will gladly refund you for the months remaining in your billing year. I tried to talk with the employees about this at the time of cancelling and got nothing more than a blank look of confusion

So far-so good. Whats not to love?But Im aware that its easy to sell memberships to a club that still smells new, with shiny new equipment and cool amenities. How you keep your members is through good customer service, an interested staff, keeping-up with maintenance, & keeping the place clean. I transferred from Charter down the street. Although Charter recently invested in an expansion/remodel; they simply to not maintain the facility. 3+ weeks to replace a cable? Trash cans overflowing? Very poor management.

No matter what location I go to they are consistent in the equipment and layout for the most part. It doesnt take long to get acclimated.

Liked this facility very very much and was ready to sign and pay but I found out that they basicly no fitness classes.... Only strength training classes

Schererville location: Calvin the fitness trainer is awesome! He takes his job serious, whips you into shape without being overbearing.

A little on the busy side but you can get to any machines or stations pretty much right away. Its also right by 80/94, Walmart, Starbucks, and just north of a major shopping drag in Northwest Indiana
