I wanted to take a minute and recommend this awesome small business facility here in town!If you are thinking about joining in on the martial arts community and family, and would like to learn Taekwondo... this is the place!!My son has been in the Ignite program now for over 6 months and he is LOVING learning taekwondo. It has changed him in many ways. He is learning a skill that has given him confidence, strength and peace. It has been a joy to watch him learn and grow. This business is owned and run by an amazing family, and they have an awesome team of leaders! I HIGHLY recommend them. This great little local business, filled with big love and stellar service, is number one in my book!

This school is awesome! My son has been attending classes for over 7 years. It is the best part of his life by far! He has gained discipline, self confidence, athletic skill, strength, made his best friends, and so much more. Not only that, my best friends were made through being tkd parents at this school. Mrs. Medina is very supportive and caring and always goes out her way to help families in need, students who are struggling, and is always enthusiastic about her role as school owner and chief instructor. Her staff is wonderful too! I highly recommend Ignite Martial Arts!

This is more than a martial arts studio: its a community of supportive and caring families. The team led by Kristin Madina is always positive and encouraging. Classes here have been hugely important for my children, even through the shelter in place order. Ignite has moved classes online and, more recently, outdoors when possible, keeping us healthy, safe and sane in these difficult times.

I can’t recommend Ignite Martial Arts and their team of instructors enough. I stumbled upon them just in a Google search for my son to start martial arts and we haven’t looked back. Not only do these instructors show up for their students every week with encouragement and education, they come alongside them to train them for just LIFE. Even in the pandemic, they have pushed through so their students to continue their training. We love Ignite!

My son has been training at Ignite for 2 years now, and the mentorship has helped him become more confident, outspoken, and able to stand up for himself. Mrs. Medina has a strong philosophy for her taekwondo studio that goes above and beyond learning the forms to self-respect, respect for others, honesty, and integrity. The longtime instructors are easy to work with, have high standards for the students, while at the same time are caring and encourage students to push and grow.We tried out several other martial arts studios before we decided on Ignite, and you just cant beat this community of teachers and students. Yes, competition can be important and exciting as part of your training, but the instant feeling we got from day 1 at Ignite is that there is so much more to training than that, and character development is at the core.

My son has been attending Ignite for just about 2 years, and I cannot rave enough about the wonderful community Mrs. Medina and her staff create for their students (and families).Despite COVID-19 throwing a wrench in everyone’s lives, Ignite Martial Arts has been a constant in my sons routine. Mrs. Medina and staff have adapted seamlessly and continue to provide a high quality, physically challenging, experience that remains fun.

Hi all. Just want to give a shout out to one of my favorite places. My 11 year old son getting his black belt was an awesome four year journey that the ignite staff has taken with us. My favorite thing is the family atmosphere that Kristen Medina strives to create. The new studio is a bright and airy place to work out. I know this because I kept my promise to my son to join when he got his black belt. If you’ve been thinking about an activity that the whole family can enjoy and benefit from, come check out a class.

My son Boston is a very shy, sweet little boy. The kind of kid who could easily get run over on the play ground by some of the rougher kids. However, we started him at the Santa Rosa ATA when he was just 6 and after 2 years, it has made a world of difference in his life. I can tell how much confidence he has now. He would never start a fight but he is not scared of anyone. I have had parents tell me they notice he has a quiet self-assuredness about him. In leadership class he is forced to lead other children and that is an amazing personality and confidence building tool. When we started at the Santa Rosa ATA we lived just a few blocks away. Now we live nearly a half hour away (hour round trip). There is another ATA very close to our house but we continue to commute to this one because the staff is amazing and all of the students and teachers are so close and bonded together that I cannot see pulling him away from all of that. It is well worth the drive. If you join the Santa Rosa ATA Martial Arts program and really commit to it in a significant way (meaning several classes a week without long breaks) then you will see what a difference it will make in your life and or that of your child.

An awesome environment and a privilege to have my daughter so looked after there. Her gains in confidence, respect, and physical ability were a only few of the benefits she gained from attending. She loved it and enjoyed the camaraderie and programs. Would highly recommend the facility, program and staff!

Weve been at Santa Rosa ATA for three years now. The instructors and owner are amazing! They are always open to hearing feedback and are great communicators. They hold the kids/participants to high levels of expectations but those expectations are always age appropriate. Both of our children have learned so much more than karate moves. They have learned discipline, respect, self responsibility and perseverance. And they have built beautiful friendships with others in their classes and within the school itself. I would highly recommend Santa Rosa ATA to anyone.

I practiced at a different studio but taekwondo in general not only gave me some of the best memories I have but it also have me a life long family; I still am with all the kids I grew up with in the studio. taekwondo teaches life lessons and physical preserverience that I still hold with me today. I started when I was 8 and it is a great way to get kids active along with a great sense of self respect and discipline. As I got it not only became my passion but also something I will always have with me. If you are looking for an amazing opportunity, stop looking because youve found it.

We have been a part of the Santa Rosa ATA Martial Arts family for just over a year now. I say family, because that is the perfect word to describe this school, its fantastic owner and dedicated instructors. My daughter started in the Tiny Tigers program as a white belt, and today she has worked her way up to recommended green belt. She has learned many valuable lessons about focus, respect and hard work during her time here so far and she loves it! I myself joined the adult TKD classes this past month and I am already having a blast and looking forward to the journey ahead. My husband and I have so much respect and gratitude for the dedicated people leading and teaching at this school. They put their hearts into all they do and it shows! We highly and wholeheartedly recommend this martial arts school to anyone. You will be welcome here! Thank you Mrs. Medina, Mr. Masklyne, Mr. Banuelos and your amazing team. We love you!

If I could give this place ZERO STARS, that would be a more accurate expression of my opinion of this Santa Rosa ATA Martial Arts franchise. First of all beware of ANY fitness club / martial arts business that makes you sign a contract that is linked to your credit card or checking account. That is a sure sign that you cannot trust them and their primary motivation is latching on to your money. It will cost you to get out of the contract - BEWARE.Secondly at this place you will find that Kristina Medina the owner will tell you one thing and the contract will say something else, there are many extra and hidden costs that you will learn about after you enter into their one sided contract. Dont sign it. But if you do, be sure to take it home, read it carefully and understand it, before you sign it. In my opinion she is an unethical business person.Medina is very good at manipulating her students into paying for extra classes to advance through the system. You will be pressured / forced to buy bags, weapons, special ATA protective gear, plastic boards, extra classes, testing, and more. They are very good at playing the kids against the parents to pay for the extras. In my opinion, the kind of karate they teach is pretty useless for self defense, it is primary show boat stuff, designed to impress kids and the simple minded. If you want real self defense skills research Systema (at Family Martial Arts Center of Santa Rosa) or Krav Maga, which are actually useful for self defense and require no uniforms, belts, “weapons”, boards, and toys.If you want your kids to develop self esteem, life skills, team spirit, etc. put them in Boy / Girl Scouts, 4-H, Little League, etc. It will cost a lot less, you wont get ripped off, you can leave any time with no strings attached, you and they will have fun and bond, and your kids will get a lot more out of it that will help them in their later life. Our two older (now adult) children went the 4-H route and are better off for it.Our younger daughter who has autistic like developmental problems, started karate at the Santa Rosa City Rec Center under Dr. Porter. This was a good program for her, was inexpensive and professionally run. Dr. Porters program is 5 stars. Then when our daughter became older (18) she entered that Santa Rosa ATA Martial Arts program and got conned into signing a Leadership program ($175/ month plus extras!), which cost more than the beginning program. It was a long term contract and she did not know what she was agreeing to. She has nerve damage that will take a year to heal according to our daughters doctor. And Kristina Medina has the nerve to tell us that she knows our daughter well and gives her nothing but support! Don’t trust this woman with your kids or your bank account.Subsequently, while my wife and I were briefly out of town, Medina pressured our daughter into signing another $175/ month contract. Which we are now in the process of fighting.BOTTOM LINE: Stay away form this place. If you want Karate for your kids, shop around, avoid any contract that requires you to give your bank account or credit card. This is a deceitful and unethical place in my opinion. It has cost us and our daughter a lot of grief and a lot of money. Learn from our mistake.
