Its a horrible place I was sent there and they traumatized me and locked me in my room with no light. I was 4 years old at the time.

Valley of the moon is a great place for kids. it takes time for a kid to realize how much the staff do for us in so many ways. when i was i think 9 years old i was a bad kid i never listend to staff i was mean and disrespectful. but now i am 13 years old and have realized how much they do for me and that i care now And that they also care about me and other kids. So try your best i think you will LOVE IT

I was one of the first kids to move into the old facility back in 1976 or so, from the older facility which was not too far from downtown Santa Rosa. There were many great staff members there, and they truly cared about us kids. We had a very stable environment, the scenery was beautiful, and, after what I had been through the facility truly was a godsend. Alan Mueller, Nancy.... and so many others stay in my mind. I am now 57, a retired Marine, and a grandfather. If it had not been for this place, I shudder to think of how much more differently things might have turned out for me. Very fond memories, and will always hold a very special place in my heart.

I was a kid who was placed here in the early 2000s. The staff did nothing to help me or my brother. They separated us and didnt help us get any treatment for our trauma. Other kids there will bully you or ostracize you and the staff are constantly watching you to make sure youre not going to have a mental breakdown to hurt yourself. It was cold, unwelcoming, and didnt teach me anything about being an adult. Those kids in there deserve much more than what this place offers.

Terrible place. when one of the kids AWOL the staff does nothing!! MY BEST FRIEND AWOL because she was getting treated terribly and they are doing absolutely nothing, shes been gone for almost a week!!

It has children there too long over a year at times with social workers putting in extensions with the state when the childs stay is over 10 days.there has to be another way to care for children instead of an institution.
