I did not stay in the shelter so I can’t speak to it. I did use the support group way back in 1999. With the help of that group I was able to escape my mental and emotional heading toward physical abuse situation. I escaped to Texas, my home state, successfully. I soon met my husband of 20 years at a 12 step meeting. I owe this organization my life and my sanity. I hope whatever problems the shelter program is having can be addressed. Although it’s located in a high end part of LA there’s many of us living in low rent apartments also. I don’t think I could have driven any further than I did. Thank you. And may I suggest watching “Maid” on Netflicks? It is an excellent primer for the cycle of domestic violence.⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Treated me as a female for a week, LOVED it great roleplaying for gay men
I would recommend you not donate your tangible items, cars, money or valuable items to OPCC. Soujourn shares a space with OPCC and theres a couple guys there that are just jerks. The Asian guy and Hispanic guy that work there constantly go through the donations taking out the valuable items for themselves. They are just two very disgusting guys. If you think your donations are going to the clients think again. The staff take out all the really nice stuff for themselves or they sell it. They get cars donated all the time and instead of giving it to clients that really need it they sell it. They also dont really have a great support system after the 30 day shelter is up for the women they do just kick them out. Now OPCC serves the homeless but the staff are so condescending. Ive heard and witnessed complete disrespect to the people they serve.
I appreciate the help but at the end i had to go back to the place i was running away.
Excellent Support Group🙏
This is a horrible shelter the women who work here are racist and lack empathy towards being a dv survivor, I HATED HERE. & they dont actually help they just want their funding beware the sell you a dream no one ever makes it to transitional and they dont help you at all
If this is a shelter for women, why are all the pictures on the website of men? I read the other reviews and its a pity that this organization is not living up to its stated goals.
I would of not give them one star I was there 6 weeks case management once a week 15min like u get something done in 15min from all girl that was in there, only one girl mad it in a transitional housing, all other girls had to exit on their exit dated they did not care were they ending up so alot girls went with kids on the street and alot girls went back to abuser ..I had to went back to abuser they dont provide me anything no numbers to call no nothing real a bad place one case manager for all clients really bad I dont even know why they get donation,on your exit dated they make a exit party gives u gift, like girls in there could be happy for the gift, sad place that place needs to get closed ether u wanna help them womans or not,but dont just kick them out on the exit dated
