My two children, 5 and 8, have taken piano lessons at the Santa Monica Conservatory for just over a year. We have three family friends, one a professional musician, whose children also take lessons there. My wife is beginning violin lessons there next week. The culture there is professional but very warm. You sense that John and all the teachers love music and care deeply about their students. The recitals and Sunday concerts are great fun. Its a wonderful place!

This school is the crowning jewel of music conservatories. The director, the teachers, are all decorated successful musicians with classical training and their approach to teaching is both rigorous and loving. I encourage all parents who wish to cultivate out of their bright young children a true musician with the abilities of a great master to come check out some of the recitals that these gifted young kids put on. Prepare to be blown away by all the little Mozarts. My daughter is 8 and has been taking violin for two years and she is also a part of the conservatory strings orchestra. She has been taking voice lessons for about a year as well. This school has completely transformed her life.

Our two daughters have been taking various lessons at the conservatory for four years. We have taken violin, piano, and now cello, and every experience has been very positive. The teachers are excellent, and the ambiance is professional, warm, and inspiring. They have also been flexible and accommodating with schedule changes as our busy schedule fluctuates. We look forward to many more years nurturing our childrens musical interests, and are grateful to have so many options for musical instruments and wonderful instructors at the Conservatory!

I have been wanting to do a review for so long but who has the time right?? So first, I wanted to mention John …..the director of SM Music Conservatory has been nothing but helpful and supportive. He truly cares about the importance of having music in a childs life. The facility is gorgeous and the teachers we have worked with (Virginie and Evan for viola) have been nothing but professional, warm and patient. My oldest daughters viola skills have improved so much, that it has made practicing easier and more fun for her (as well as more pleasurable for me and the neighbors) At the front desk Paula is so so sweet and Chase has wonderful communication skills and went above and beyond to get the right time and day for my girls to start at the conservatory.Both my girls attended the summer camp this summer and they loved it! Matthew who runs the camp is very friendly and does really well making everyone feel comfortable as well as prepared and confidant for the Friday performance.Thanks to everyone at SM Conservatory of Music!!

If your child has a talent for music, then this is definitely the place to challenge them and give them the opportunity to perform and feel the achievement of playing beautiful music taught by enthusiastic teachers. My son is a trumpet player going into Middle School this fall and this is our second year attending Santa Monica Music Camp. I was so proud of him when he played his solo leading off the ensemble during their Friday performance last week. He really nailed it and his teacher was elated with the tone of his playing. My son was all smiles and the sense of joy and accomplishment beaming from his face was wonderful. If you are looking for a truly constructive application of your childs time over summer break that takes up a good portion of the day, this is it! I cant recommend them enough.

Our 7yr old daughter loved this place. This was her first introduction to playing an instrument and she was really inspired. The summer camp was really well organised and the staff were all professional and helpful. I would definitely recommend the conservatory to children of all ages, its a great place!

My daughter has been taking voice lessons with Mollie Birney for the last year and she absolutely loves it. Its been amazing to see how much her voice has grown since she started, and how much more confidence she has with her singing. Mollie is very encouraging and a great teacher, would definitely recommend.

Website said kids concert May 19th 4 to 5pm. Showed up. No note stating it was cancelled. Waste of time. We were all disappointed.

The Santa Monica Conservatory is the best music school with amazings teachers.My daughter enjoys her guitar lessons with teacher Mattew. After attending a winter and summer camp at the conservatory she loved she decided to take guitar lessons and she really learned and enjoyed going to their camp.Their great customer service with Paola in the front desk make you feel so special and welcome that you cant resist on going back get lessons for your kids after the camps are over.Their teachers are really professional and dedicated that they inspire kids to learn more and enjoy playing their instruments.I really recommend this place for your kids theyll loved.
