The best traditional karate school in Santa Monica and maybe even Los Angeles. Vassie Shihan is a great instructor for students of all ages. We train with him when we have the opportunity to travel to LA and always recommend our students to visit if they are in LA. Watch one of his classes and you will see and feel his passion for teaching karate.

One of the best places I have ever trained. Vassie Shihan is one who leads by example, teaches from his heart and encourages his students to be better - not only in regard to our physical ability, but more importantly with our character. You wont find many non-Japanese teachers outside of Japan with comparable experience and accomplishments, something which is very rare here in the United States.

Nice dojo in the heart of Santa Monica. Head instructor, Sensei Vassie is really experienced and knowledgeable. Often goes to Japan to study newest trends. If you are looking for a good dojo this is your choice.

Since I have known Vassie Shihan (1995) he has always been a kind person, intelligent and tough instructor, and an expert coach of Goju Ryu Karate Do. I have met a lot of instructors of many styles. Dojo, law enforcement, military instructors, and some shams. Hands down Vassie Shihan sets the example of what a Master Instructor demonstrates in knowledge, training, and ability. He is always willing to help you improve. The quality of life, karate, and skill will be improved upon stepping into this dojo.

I have trained with Shihan Naidoo in his Santa Monica Dojo, and I can tell you that he is one of the most knowledgeable instructors that you will find anywhere in the world. As an instructor, he is able to teach the beginning student as well as the most advanced student. I have been training in karate for more than 40 years, and each time I train with Shihan Naidoo, I learn something new.Additionally, Shihan Naidoo provides each student with unique opportunities to train in authentic Japanese karate. Each year, he brings some of the top instructors from Japan to Santa Monica to supplement the training of his students, and each year he takes a group of his students to Japan to train at the headquarters of the Seiwa Kai and the JKF Goju Kai. He provides his students with a complete experience in traditional karate.
