Having been involved in dog rescue for 15 years, I can honestly say Love Leo is one of the most responsible, reputable, dedicated and conscientious rescue groups out there. The welfare of the animal is always the number one priority, which means looking out for the animals best interest - first and foremost. People who have left negative reviews here sound pretty entitled, frankly. Love Leo and its volunteers spend a lot of time, effort and resources in making sure there is a match between adopter and animal. If they determine its not the right match, or that a particular dog requires certain training to set them up for success in their adoptive home, there is a good reason for it. Making the wrong match can have long term, adverse effects, so it is a decision that is not made lightly by the rescue.

Where do I start with how much this wonderful rescue org has changed my life? I met the founder of Love Leo many years ago when I was working at a dog tech startup and looking for a reputable, genuine, goes above and beyond for the good of the dog, doesnt just pick the cute dogs type of rescue org for our company to do an adoption event with. I was already pretty familiar with the dog rescue org community in LA and knew that Love Leo fit that description like a glove. Ever since, Ive seen this organization move mountains to make sure that both dog, foster and adopter parent are well taken care of. They know the importance of setting everyone up for success so that new homes are forever homes. They are so experienced with every type of dog, breed, size, age, medical condition so the wealth of knowledge that comes with this org is also important to note. Not to mention they do incredible spay/neuter work and make sure all dogs, not just ones from LA, are supported. Anyway, fast forward to present and here I am as a foster for them as well as an adopter parent (foster failed and couldnt let one of my little ones go!).If you are considering fostering or adopting a dog, please get in touch with Love Leo, you wont regret it!!! This org will literally change your life. I would give them a million stars if it was allowed :)

Worst experience dealing with this rescue! Went for a meet and greet that seemed to have gone well. Even offered to let us take the dog home right then and there. We werent expecting that so we werent able to. We made plans to come back next day to get her. In our conversation with the foster parent we mention we plan on getting the dog trained. She then gives us her trainers name. He ends up being too far for us and more than double the price of trainers out by us. I call to schedule a pick up that a.m. and all of the sudden she says they require a training session before the dog goes home with us. (No mention of this during meet and greet). What changed? Is it because we didnt want to be forced to us their suggested trainer. He was $175 at his house and $300 to come to us. Thats outrageous! Just to adopt the dog is $450. We found trainers out by us for way less. This particular dog wasnt even spayed or chipped yet. On their site they say they offer one free instructional class. Now Im expected to pay $175? What happened between go ahead and take her and now we are required to pay for a training session? Do they get a kick back? Is it all about the $ and dont really care that we could have provided that sweet puppy an amazing life on our 2 acre property. Shed be hiking, walking, playing, being loved but no all over 1 training session. Its ridiculous!Update: see their response to this review below. Guess the truth hurts! Kinda funny she claims my daughter was terrified but offered to let us take her home yesterday. My daughter was a little hesitant about a larger dog she had, not the puppy we came to meet. If she felt that way why did she lead us on telling us we can come get her tomorrow? No mention of needing to first discuss it with her board, no mention shes concerned about my daughters reaction, no mention of first needing a training session. She actually was texting me that night and still no mention of any of this. We were talking about making plans to come get her. Next morning things changed. She didnt even bother calling me. She gave me bad news via text with no opportunity for a discussion. Very unprofessional!Their response: Wow. In the middle of everything thats going on you found time to write a negative review for a rescue? I have dedicated the last 10 years of my life to helping sick and injured and neglected dogs get a second chance. I have provided over 1500 free spay and neuter surgeries to low income people to help ease the burden on our shelter system. You dont know the first thing about me yet you found time to write a review about a 30 minute experience you had? Youre mad because you couldnt get the dog that you wanted? Because your child was terrified of her and crying and couldnt be put on the ground next to her? Youve admittedly never owned a large power breed dog and I wanted to make sure our dog was set up for success? How selfish of you.¿Shame on you.¿I hope you find a better way to spend your time off.

I love LOVE LEO Rescue and Sasha. I have had over a dozen friends adopt their dogs from Love Leo Rescue and all had the most positive experiences. I met Sasha while volunteering at the Baldwin Park Shelter about a decade ago. She has such a big heart and over the years I have witnessed her rescue hundreds of animals. She loves saving injured animals, moms and babies, is the true definition of a rescuer. She always has the best interest of the animal; if the animal is injured, she will spend the money to help heal the animal and make sure the animal is healthy and then find the perfect home. She wants to find the best home for the animal and the perfect fit for the person looking to adopt. I highly recommend love leo rescue to help anyone who is looking to adopt a dog. I also recommend anyone to donate and support Love leo to continue to help them save animals in need. Love Leo is a wonderful Los Angeles based rescue that helps so many animals and I am so grateful for all the incredible animal rescue outreach they do and continue to do. I would give them 1,000 stars if I could but 5 is allotted.

I got my two babies from Love Leo over 10 years ago and I am still so in awe of the incredible work that they do! If youre looking for a reputable rescue org to support, or if youre looking for a fur baby of your own, I highly recommend them!!

This rescue is amazing, it has the sweetest people, awesome dpgs, and helps you thru the goal.

Not only a wonderful rescue but they do such fantastic work in providing the community with free spay and neuter services. They never say no to medical dogs, take in so many ortho cases, power breeds, etc. 5 STARS!
