The owner, Garth Taylor, is a genuinely great guy. He honestly cares about helping people and the world can definitely use a lot more people like him in it. Garth, the teachers and even the students all feel like a family and just are all about helping each other out. Recommending this school to all friends and their kids. I signed my daughter up after a rough experience at another school and this place is what Martial Arts is all about. They teach my daughter great morales, respect for others, and want to help her become a better martial artist. I signed up shortly after I saw the teachers and what the school was all about. Has been a wonderful and welcoming experience. Learning tons, creating friendships, and look forward to each and every class I have time to attend.

Totally late on the review but hey, better late than never.I was in town for a couple days back in July and decided to hit GTJJ. Garth went over X - Guard, Single Leg X and Sweeps. Garth was very patient and in depth with his teaching. Got in some rolls with the class and everyone was cool and respectful. No one was trying to head hunt which was great. Overall 10/10, would definitely recommend to a friend. Oss!

Garth’s gym is fantastic! My 4 year old really enjoys the classes. The coaches are so patient with the kids and they always make sure they have fun. Jiujitsu is a wonderful way for kids to build confidence, discipline, and learn important skills. Thanks Garth!

All the coaches are awesome. Like the kids can do jujitsu and kickboxing. Gym is clean and great staff all around!!

Best place to train bjj in SC

Garth Taylor is an excellent teacher and an accomplished competitor, who has built a strong martial arts community in Santa Cruz county. I highly recommend training with him whether youre looking for a gym to try or just visiting the area. People are friendly, helpful and supportive. He for sure has the biggest mat space in town and the gym is kept very clean.

Garth and his coaches took me in as one of their own from day one and always make me feel like family when Im back in town visiting. Incredible instruction and great training partners!

Fantastic gym with a great head instructor. Garth is friendly, respectful, and laid back and has created a wonderful environment to learn in. The staff is filled with wonderful folks and all of the other coaches are highly experienced, friendly, and patient.

Absolutely amazing place to train. I was in Santa Cruz two weeks on vacation and came here a few days to practice and I learned so much. The way they teach you jiu jitsu systematizes it so that you understand why you’re doing what you’re doing and gives you a framework for what to do in new situations. The coaches are also always going around to gove you a few pointers, and really are dedicated to the teaching of jiu jitsu. Wish I could give an extra star or two or three, this place is that great.
