Angela and Brian are Ace ACT tutors. First they work with your students to see whether ACT or SAT is the best match for them. Then they progressively work with the student to help them understand their mistakes and have the student develop a tip sheet along the way. I expect that every student will improve their scores working with Angela or Brian as our children did.For college consulting, Angela is laser focused. She helps develop a plan for the student and holds the student accountable for the deliverables. As in any consulting/teaching, the student will get more benefit if they put in extra effort outside the sessions.Our son connected very well with Brian and his mellower approach. Our daughter responded well to Angela.

Angela is an incredibly skilled SAT/ACT tutor who clearly knows how to guide kids to do their absolute best. Both of our daughters worked with Angela, and though it was both a time and financial commitment, it was well worth it. She sets clear expectations and goals, gives invaluable tips on testing and how to ‘read’ questions and works with the student to achieve their individual goals. Both of our kids’ scores increased dramatically because of Angela’s guidance. 100% recommend her!

This review is about Angela Suns college counselling abilities. Our experience was exactly the opposite of whats written here and I would give negative stars if I could !! She was an absolute nightmare to deal with and has zero emotional intelligence or tact to deal with young teens !!She preys on parents weaknesses and has clearly understood parents would do anything for their children as long as she says things like she got admission into MIT, Ivys and self proclaims that she is the absolute best college consultant who will make your child write the absolute best essays he can ever write !! (I am paraphrasing it but she said something like that to me in our first meeting !).She made it amply clear even before I met for the first time that all she cares about is money and nothing else ! She charged me $300 per hr saying its the weekend rate - whatever that means (although her website only mentions 250 per hr ).She was laser focused on the money in our conversations and showed zero interest in knowing my child before or after the meeting. Her website says parents will get a detailed report within 24 hrs of the first meeting, and we received no such report.The first meeting was a complete disaster. She was so rude (and please dont say she is strict/tough /good etc). No - she was plain rude and not good as a counselor !!My son was so scared of her that after a point stopped answering even basic questions ! She gave as little info as possible in the session and made it laborious by asking my son to type out literally every word that came out of her mouth (all of it was just general info and nothing anyone wouldnt know about college admissions)!Despite all these negative signals, I still tried to go ahead with scheduling a few more sessions, because believe it or not, my son insisted he wanted to try her a bit more before giving up !I wanted to understand how many sessions my son would need and in her response she had the audacity to say my child was a non high functioning kid and hence would probably need many sessions (being vague and open ended of course to milk as much money as possible from me) ! The genius in her, inferred all this about my son from just the 1 hr meeting !!Not to brag - Honestly, my child is in a highly specialized gifted track at school and elsewhere and in fact the very reason I was looking for a counselor so early on was to make sure I give him all the advantages possible and guide him using the best counselors !She quoted a ridiculous number of hours at the rate of $300 per hr and I told her, her website states she will only need 3-4 sessions for coming up with a 4 year plan and her response was website is outdated !!! (can you believe that ??)Parents, please be careful when choosing a counselor. Please make sure the counselor has the right emotional intelligence, credentials, experience to deal with your child in this vulnerable yet important stage of their life. Please dont select a counselor based purely on 5 star online reviews or what these counselors say they achieved for themselves. If in your initial interactions you detect the counselors main focus is money, and not your child or if the counselor is rude, evasive about answering your questions, please take these red flags seriously and run miles away from her/him !I am very thankful that I was able to detect this problem early on and not expose my child to a horrible 4 year counselling experience !

Angela helped me with ACT prep, and over the course of just a few months I was able to gain confidence, knowledge, and skills that I never though I was capable of getting. On top of all that, my score significantly improved. I had a lot of fun with her and highly recommend her to anyone who is looking for help with the ACT/SAT.

Angela was an amazing ACT tutor. She helped me gain confidence in myself and significantly improve my score as well. At first, I really struggled, especially with the reading section. I could almost never finish the test, and even when I did, I was not doing well. However, Angelas specific tips and methodical approach really helped me. She is straight forward and clear, and her tips actually work. She helped me improve my pacing on all four sections, and because of her help, my score improved by a lot. Angela was absolutely wonderful to work with, and I would highly recommend her to anyone looking for a tutor college counselor.

Angela was a great ACT and College tutor. She has access to tons of resources for the ACT prep, and was very good at making structured plans for completing work in order to improve at certain skills for the ACT. Her college tutoring was great aswell, and her prior knowledge made it much easier to know what colleges to apply to and how to write the essays. Her tutoring requires a lot of work to be effective, and this was often a struggle for me, but I know that if you do everything she tells you to do you will see results.

She will be tough. Im warning you right now. Shell ask questions and be brutal on essay revisions and constantly probe every sentence you write. Shes one of the best counselors Ive ever had.That being said, If you choose to work with Angela Sun, you will never be unsuccessful. She makes sure that everything you write has meaning. Angela was my tutor for the 2019 SAT / ACT season. She is very organized and has great resources, such as access to good ACT practice tests among other things. Through her homework / meeting cycle the student is able to improve by practicing by themselves during their homework, and is able to further improve during meetings when the homework is discussed. Angela also has great tips for each section for both tests, including the essay section. The greatest metric for my improvement has been my improvement in writing sections. Writing used to be my weakest section across multiple tests, and now I can consistently score a 35 on the ACT writing section. Additionally, she is able to gauge which test is best suited to a student. Even though I was adamant about taking the SAT, after receiving my March 2019 SAT Score, she convinced me to move to the ACT, and my current ACT score is much better than my SAT score. My daughter came to Angela for help with Geo H in high school. She found Angela instantly approachable and fun to work with. My brother worked with Angela for his college admissions, and she was instrumental in the process. College admissions had changed a lot since I applied to college, but my parents wanted me to help anyway. In the end, I realized I was out of my depth and we found Angela who had all the up-to-date information and was able to answer all our questions.Most importantly, she helped with the essays, the most difficult part of the application for us. My brother had issues with comprehensibility, keeping within the word limit, and having a voice that would make him stand out amoung the other applicants. End the end, we had much better essays and he was accepted to many top tier programs. He is very happy with his outcome.My only regret is that we didnt work with Angela sooner; we started late in the process after we realize we were in over our heads and had pretty middling essays.

However, we began to realize after a bunch of essay classes that she needed a little more help on perfecting her ACT scores. Angela switched her classes over from essay writing to working with our daugher on implementing strategies and honing in and explaining particular questions she was getting wrong on practices. Our daugher had so many Ah Ha moments working with Angela, and really enjoyed working with her. After taking her first ACT test, she received a 36 ACT composite score.
