We worked with A and V for the construction of our modular home last year. It was not a comfortable nor efficient experience. First, the design they sent me for our foundation included over fifty caissons. That’s because our 16 foot wide modules were going to e supported by a grade beam with a 14 foot span. That’s just plain dumb! Not to mention EXPENSIVE. They clearly didn’t pay attention, nor care enough to check the plans. That inflamed me. It sent a message that they were not paying attention. When I forced them to design a 16 foot span grade beam, suddenly there were only 30 caissons. I bet they could have been fewer, too, but did they explore that possibility? No. Then, they designed our back retaining wall so that it was INSIDE THE HILLSIDE, and located the house so that the foundation of the house and the footing of the wall OVELAPPED. I had to relocate the house, AND the wall, TWICE. No help from them either. That is some crappy work, folks. For the money, they were not delivering. Minimal interaction with the architects, far too few site visits, lousy “bedside manners “, just got the impression that my “small” job didn’t matter.I need some new engineering now, and you can bet they will not be involved.
