Thanks guys for saving my time. I will never go here based on all the negative reviews. The 2.2 overall score speaks for itself and would be lower if people were given an option of 0 stars. $300 for a missed appointment is price gouging, and no that is not customary practice.

HE IS A GOOD DOCTOR FROM WHAT I CAN TELL SO FAR.

Honestly leaving this review makes me sad because I was enjoying my sessions. I had to abruptly go to the ER on the day before my appointment and received medicine that drugged me out of my mind (I was asleep for a solid 36hrs only waking up momentarily feeling confused and disoriented before going back to sleep) — not to mention before I received the medication I was in so much pain that I was passing out and could barely talk. There was NO WAY I could’ve called to cancel. As soon as the drugs left my system and I was stable I called the front desk to explain what happened. I told them I could provide the documentation they needed to prove what happened to me. They told me there’s no exception to missing an appointment. WOW. And health insurance doesn’t cover that fee. If you have any health condition that could make you miss an appointment, do not depend on this place to have any understanding towards that. This just shows their greed and lack of interest in the trauma that happens in an individual’s life. Having to deal with my physical trauma plus this additional fee from my therapist who I trusted and had opened up to isn’t exactly helping my mental and emotional state. At this point they’ve done more damage than good.

This place is devoid of any compassion whatsoever. I learned that I had to quarantine due to COVID exposure the day of my appointment. So, I called and told them I needed to cancel for now and would reschedule when I was clear. The woman on the phone said there was no problem and they understood. Interestingly enough I get a bill for a no-show in the amount of $330. I called and reiterated the situation and was pretty much told so sad, too bad, pay your bill. Even if I didnt have a valid reason to cancel, $330 is a bit steep. One could say $330 is a bit exploitive, even abusive, and certainly opportunistic. Anyways, Im glad I could fund a couple rounds of golf for the doctor.

The first visit was okay. I came on the wrong day for the second visit. The total for the no show fee which is outrageous is $330.00. I had paid $60.00 on 5/19 and on 6/22 $100.00.Then I was charged with an interest charge of $2.55 and a monthly billing fee of $5.00. Where is their compassion? Money seems to be the bigMotivation. Moral of the story is to read the published reviews which for the most part were not good before making an appointment with a doctor.

Please dont go here! Everyone at this clinic is horrible. I am glad my daughter left. I thought they were horrible my daughter moved to another clinic after bad treatment but this tops it all!All of a sudden 2 YEARS LATER they are sending my daughter a bill because THEY filed a visit with the wrong insurance incorrectly and had to pay the money back. It should not be the patients responsibility to clean up the office staff error... 2 YEARS LATER! I will be reaching out to better business bureau! I will be reporting this! Shame on them. You claim to serve those dealing with mental health and emotional issues and then force this stress upon the patient for an OFFICE error!The staff is rude and unwilling to clean up their own mess.

Ive never had one bad experience with this office. Dr. Shin is amazing with my daughter and never have I ever felt rushed. He answers all my questions and makes my daughter feel extremely welcome and happy. And my daughters therapist is amazing and explains everything to me and makes sure that I understand everything going on. My daughter can not wait for her weekly appointments and the front desk staff is absolutely amazing!

Is there any way for me to not give this establishment zero stars? I spoke with the staff that I was ill early Monday morning and called the staff as soon as I could to say that I was throwing up all morning. They said there would be a cancellation fee. Okay, I understand I am cancelling within 24 hrs. That cancellation fee is $300.... THREE HUNDRED DOLLARS. Customer Service is little and far between at this place. The employees even stated if I had a death in the family.... A DEATH IN THE FAMILY, I would still have to pay the fee. That is outrageous!!!! Do not send or let anyone go to this practice!!!! I should have known not to go back when Dr Shin gave me a prescription and it didnt even have my name on it. HIPPA violation!!!! Dr Shin was pushing so many prescriptions on me, it was completely uncalled for. HORRIBLE SERVICE and HORRIBLE TREATMENT!!!!!

Much better this time around. Dr.Shin listened to our concerns, took them seriously and prescribed accordingly. Provided great information on sensory sensitivity. Though admittedly it was rough the first time around, we are warming up to Dr.Shin.

Today I called to cancel my mother’s appointment because she is in the hospital and unable to speak on her behalf. The office manager was rude and inconsiderate stating she can not cancel my mother’s appointment because of HIPPA violations. I never requested any personal information i only simply wanted to cancel the appointment so my mother is not charged a cancellation fee. This does not go against HIPPA for simply cancelling someone’s appointment. I do not recommend this place at all!

I have been a patient of both Dr. Shin and Ms. Jan Cheek. Both were compassionate and caring. Dr. Shin helped me manage medical aspects of my condition. Ms. Cheek helped me by listening and offering excellent advice. I would recommend this practice to anyone who needs help. They let you know up front about their 24-hour cancellation policy, which is a lot less than many doctors’ offices, who often require 48-72 hours to cancel.

Wow, Im sorry to see others have had bad opinions of this office. The two ladies Ive spoken with at the front desk have been very friendly and courteous. I signed a form in the beginning and had their cancellation policy explained to me several times. Both of my daughters feel comfortable with their counselor and really like her. Another friends daughter talks with the same counselor and her daughter loves her, too! Overall, Im very pleased with the care and attention both my daughters receive. Weve never felt rushed at all.

Let me say that I own two small businesss and this will be the first time I have ever given any business a bad review. The first time I visited Dr.Shin I felt like I was just a number to him because he kept looking at his watch like he had to be somewhere or he was just rushed. I did miss my next appointment and I paid the $150.00 fee for not calling to cancel. The second time I arrived early and as soon as I walked into the lobby Dr. Shin was waiting and rushed me into his office and again he was constantly looking at his watch which made me feel rushed. I dont know how you can truly address your clients needs when you are pushing them in and out of your office. I feel like its a numbers game to him. Lets see just how many people I can push in and out of my office today. About three weeks ago my sister in Tennessee passed away so I had to fly out for her burial. I called Dr. Shins office and cancelled my appointment. I made another appointment for that Monday. I flew back in at the end of the week and by Sunday I realized that I had to take my daughter to the doctor so I called that Sunday and cancelled my appointment. I received a bill for $300.00 six days later because I didnt cancel 24 hours ahead of time. THREE HUNDRED DOLLARS is price gouging !!! I will never go back to this clown ! I will never recommend this clown to anyone ! Stay away from Behavioral Health Care in Sanford. All you are is a number to Dr. Shin .

We’ve been to this clinic twice so far and before we are even finished signing in, Dr. Shin is waiting for us in the hallway. We never feel rushed and he always answers my questions. We really like it here.

I see a great deal of negative reviews on here related to the cancellation policy... The same cancellation policy you get a WHOLE PAGE explaining in black and white what is going to happen should you miss an appointment, not to mention you also have a full 24hrs to cancel. There is an answering service for the practice that you can call at ANYTIME, seriously call at 2am and cancel your appointment as long as it is 24hrs in advance you pay nothing. So off that soap box. Dr. Shin is amazing, he listened to me thoroughly asked questions, was very warm and welcoming in his demeanor. I feel better starting the treatment he suggested than I have in over a decade. The office staff was also very friendly and welcoming. If you go into this office being polite friendly if you are able, and show up on time as scheduled I doubt you will have any issues!

I was always at my appointments. I missed my appointment due to a traffic accident and called the office that day to say hey I can not make my appointment. Instead of the facility checking on me, I got a letter the next day instead to pay the $160.00 no show fee for not calling to cancel 24 hours in advance.I do not know how you can truly address your clients needs when you are pushing them in and out of your office. This place is a straight numbers game, let’s see just how many people we can push in and out of my office today. I will never recommend these clown’s either to anyone! Stay away from Behavioral Healthcare Associates, LLC in Sanford, NC. They do not care for your personal life or emergency situations. They are just money hungry. The sad thing is, with Tricare they will get paid regardless but Dr. Martin will talk to you for about 3 mins and send you on your way. The receptionists are awful!! They wont call you to remind you if you have an appointment, very unprofessional, rude, and play on their cell phones constantly.

Dr Shinn is great. Helpful office however beware .... $300 cancellation fee ... no excuse like car trouble... or sick.... they do remote appointments as an alternative due to Covid-19.

EVERYONE must sign a cancellation policy form before being seen. Im sorry this place saved my family and we see every therapist and doctor. Dr Shin NEVER looks at his watch and is very professional and listens as well as informs me and my family of any medication he is recomending. Our whole family of 6 sees this clinic and saved our lives. Yes WE HAVE missed appt or late cancellation and had to pay because by signing we agree to pay the amount given on the policy regulations, but that is a personal responsibility we take and EVERYONE else needs to stop complaining and moaning about paying for missed appt when you sign the policies and procedure agreement, and went on to see the doctors after you sigened it. Next time maybe you should READ the agreement before signing blindly on the line. Both ladies at the front desk Katharine and Deonte are BOTH sweet and I love them. Both ladies watch my 4 kids (ages 4, 7, 8, and 9) while im in therapy to get my mental health right, which I may include IS NOT THIER JOB! But They do it because they care about our family and the patients there. Both ladies and all therapists/doctors truly care about getting us help. As a courtesy and not a requirement they PRINT out your appts for you to have and there is no excuse. If a appt is made by mistake then you have your print outs with dates of future appointments and the date it was printed (which should be the date of the most recent appt) so if you lost them or failed to ask or put it in your calender correctly then that is on you. We are all ADULTS and need to take responsibility for our own actions and not blame them. Thank you Behavior Health Care Assosiates for the wonderful job everyone does and the help and kindness as well as saving my family my kids and myself. This place is a God send and if you make your appts, take responsibility for missed, or late cancellation they will do whatever they can to accommodate your needs. Also they DO NOT DEMAND THE WHOLE AMOUNT if you miss/late cancel a appt. They have reasonable payment options and will continue to see you and your family with YOU OR YOUR FAMILY OWING MONEY! We are still making payments but still receiving top quality care from them.

These people made FALSE appointments, then slapped us with missed appointment fees totaling to over 560 dollars. DO NOT GO HERE! Cold day in hell before you see that money. You WILL BE TURNED INTO THE BETTER BUSINESS BUREAU IF YOU DO NOT RESOLVE THIS IMMEDIATELY.

I think those of you with the negative comments do not realize that most health care facilities ( behavioral and otherwise) charge the full billing price for a no show or late cancellation. I have never had a bad experience with anyone in this practice. Signed or unsigned paperwork aside, all of this practices polices were explained to me by my therapist at my first appointment. As for the psychiatrist, if you had 5 minutes with him you are lucky because most psychiatrists i have had didnt give me that much time. You can contact the BBB but you also need to remember that you arent going to find the perfect practice that you are looking for because they simply dont exists. Ask yourself if you were running this kind of practice, what you policies would include and research it. I think you will be surprised.

This place is a joke. They do not care for anyones personal lives or situations. They just want money. Dr. Shin will talk to you for 3 mins and send you on your way AND if you miss an appointment (even if you call) it’s a $300 fee, which is absolutely ridiculous. I was dumb enough to try out this place even with the bad reviews. Don’t be dumb like me. DO. NOT. GO. HERE.

Would be zero stars if allowed. Absolutely terrible business that only cares about money. My daughter saw them and the very next day had to go to the ER. Called the very next business day to cancel and the claim the cancellation was short of 24 hours by just over an hour. Tricare needs to know about all of these negative reviews and dont send them any more patients to steal from.

SHOULD NOT RECEIVE FUTURE TRICARE REFERRALS!! This greedy practice forces you to sign an agreement for missing an appointment. We thought we had an appointment for 1030 but it was actually for 1000 and around 945 we realized this and called the office to say we were running late. LIFE HAPPENS!! Needless to say after this FIRST no show we received a no show bill for $300!! Through tricare, they only get $60 for the visit, so how do we owe them $300?? They will promptly threaten to send to collection. They dont care about the people they see, only the dollars it brings in.

If I could give this place 0 stars I would. The therapist Swanzetta was amazing. As far as the front desk staff Adante and office manager Nory not ok!! My husband was deployed for 9 months never signed paperwork and upon returning made my daughter an appointment and was unable to attend. He called a few minutes after the appointment start time and was told he would be charged a no show fee. Again he had no idea of procedures because he never signed paperwork. He along with I have tried explaining that to office staff with no regard. We were told it was my responsibility to explain that to him although he did not sign paperwork. So over thier no show no exception policy they have lost clients. This place should be removed from Tricare’s list of accepted facilities since they have no regard for deployed soldiers. I will be reporting. Think twice before going here. God forbid you have an emergency. Will be charged over $400 for missed appointment !!! Even if you are not the one that signed paperwork.

DO NOT GO HERE!!! Im also reporting them to the BBB!! Dr. Shin spends maybe 5 minutes with your child and cant wait to rush you out the door. The receptionists are awful!! They wont call you to remind you if you have an appointment. My child got sick so we couldnt make it to our Monday appointment. They didnt care. Charged me $165.00I understand if they have to charge you a fee, but the whole Dr. Appointment!! This place is a joke!! Dont waste your time or money. Ive filed a complaint with Tricare they are trying to get it to where Tricare wont even cover them anymore. So please if any of you are Tricare Call and fill out the paper work! Lets not give these scum bags anymore of the militarys money!!

I was referred here through Tricare. After several appointments with this particular clinic I have come to the conclusion they are only in it for money. I am always rushed. The Dr is constantly looking at his watch during the entire visit and asks the same questions over and over again. Called the day before my appt to reschedule and was told that I could reschedule, but because it wasnt more than 24 hrs before I would have to pay a crazy high no show fee before I could be seen again. High turn over rate of front desk employees, always some one different at the check in window.

The staff is extremely lacking in professionalism. Stay away.

No one called from their office to confirm the appt. Had a slight issue getting there and even though their snotty receptionist confirmed they had a 15 min windowthey refused to see my husband. Horrible service.

Read the above reviews. It was the same situation for us. Dont bother going.
