This is a warning to freelance photographers, or freelancers in general, who work with Ann Hill and Hill/Zoog. In short, dont work for them.My dad did a bunch of jobs for Hill/Zoog for five years or so, and all of his work was highly praised in the emails that I have read. He died in March 2018 three months after we found out that he had stage IV colon cancer. Ann Hill still hadnt paid him for work that he had done from the beginning to the end of December 2017, the last year that he worked. He let me know as we scribbled down his will, on what would be the last trip we made to the hospital, that he was still owed between $6-7k from work for Hill/Zoog that had not yet been paid.Ann Hill has given me the run around for two years, and Ive even had to keep his probate case open because of this. She sent me a check last year that she then went on to cancel, either intentionally or carelessly did not identify all the invoices he was owed, even going so far as to tell me that he must have been confused.Just recently, I emailed that I would have to begin civil proceedings because she was no longer returning emails, a pattern over the past two years. She sent me an email saying she would pay $250 a month. This would take two years to pay off what she owes. I cant express how much I miss my dad, and having to keep attention on this for two more years, while chasing after her monthly, would come with a great deal of pain and sorrow. This offer was only made after I said that I would need to begin civil proceedings because I really need to close my dads probate.I let her know that this wasnt acceptable. She emailed that if it wasnt acceptable, she had to let me know that she had filled for bankruptcy and that I would have no recourse to collect on her debt. She let me know this in May 2020. She had filled for bankruptcy in January 2018, and my dad died in March 2018. She has given me the run around for TWO years. I also wasnt given the opportunity to file my dad as a debtor, so now I have to try to file a late claim. She has yet to send me a $250 check. It appears that she also filed for bankruptcy in 2008.I miss my dad every day. He died at 67, when Im still in my thirties. Way too soon for his healthy lifestyle and age. I want this resolved for HIM. I cant stomach him not getting paid for his last year of work. My dad always worked so incredibly hard, and cherished the good relationships that he cultivated with his clients. He was a beautiful man, and I can still see him clamoring up on top of his van to get just the right shot. He worked so hard his entire life, for so little, and his main purpose was serving his church. It is not right to not pay the little people who work for you while you have so much more them then. Thanks for reading.
