Signing up for martial arts with Major Kim is a life changing and can also be a life defining experience. I started martial arts at age 35 with no prior training. It increased my endurance much more than just running and working out. Major Kim is hands down one of the best instructors I have ever had in my life across all disciplines. He is also the person other instructors come to when they want to understand some of the finer points. His instruction and guidance is second to none. He has many lifetimes’ worth of experience in martial arts that he is able to share, so that you too can live a healthier life. He is also a very selective instructor who also picks his students. If you want to improve your health, be in better shape, or if you are already in great shape but want to see what else you can work on, come on by, check it out.
Hap ki do classes, kids to adults, beginner to advanced, Master Kim is a very good instructor. Prior service, works with police sometimes, but great with kids too. Grand Master, your own local Mr. Miogi! (omg, dont kill me Major Kim! Had to bedone, lol...)
I’ve found that one of the most important things to look for when choosing a martial arts school is to determine who teaches most of the skills. I’ve been to two other schools since childhood and researched a few others. Most of the time, it is newly minted black belts and you see the Master instructor usually only at belt testing. Therefore, when I came to Eagle Talon Hapkido, my hope was that the Master instructor taught half of all the new skills. I was deeply impressed when I realized that Master Kim teaches all the new skills to every student. This starts from day one as a white belt.Master Kim comes from a very deep martial arts background and has been studying and practicing it his entire life. He started with Taekwondo as a child in Korea, then learned Judo, Kung Fu, some Muay Thai, and finally settled on Hapkido. He also achieved the rank of Major in the South Korean Special Forces and attended U.S. Army Ranger School as well as BUD/S in Coronado as a part of the Korean-American military exchange programs. His great life experience and perspective allows him to tailor his approach to all new students since each person comes from a different point in life with different physical capabilities.I’ve been coming to Eagle Talon Martial Arts for four years. Many times I’ve come in tired but I’ve never once regretted attending a class. I intend to come here until Master Kim decides he no longer wants to teach. He’s a great teacher and I highly recommend Eagle Talon Hapkido.
