I have the good fortune to live next door to Yggdrrasil Wildlife Rescue. I have observed how Lila and her tender hearted volunteers have nursed back to good health countless injured, sick, and abandoned animals. This year has been monumentally challenging for Lila with a four hundred percent increase in people dropping off new animals. Now that we are all stuck closer to home in 2020 were aware of these original inhabitants that have been living quietly among us. Every time Ive been inside I have always been amazed at how well tended and cared for all the critters are.Lila does it all on a shoestring budget and works sixteen hour days. A couple times a week I see her step outside to take a breather. Shell give me a tired smile and say, Wanna hold a baby squirrel? I mean, who can resist such an offer? She hands me her newest resident with a syringe feeder of special formula. Through Lila I have come to have a greater appreciation and reverence for all living things. Her educational programs instill these same qualities in little kids.

The folks at Yggdrasil are as compassionate and loving as I’ve ever encountered. I’ve had occasion to visit the center several times and see first hand the tlc every single animal in their care receives. It’s a very small operation with all volunteers but each animal is given the love and care as though they were a long time family pet. The enclosures are always well appointed and spacious, and for all the terrestrial and amphibious species housed, each receives its own specialization. Yggdrasil is a center born of a true love and calling to help the littlest creatures among us.

Lila is the kindest, giving and knowledgeable person I know in regards to this work. The rescue center has been incredibly helpful and supportive in so many ways throughout the years, and even when they cant help they offer support on how and where you could find it. Im forever grateful for the work this center has done and I hope will continue to do for many more years.

Lila is the kindest, most caring person you’ll meet. She always has injured animals under her care. Even when we had an animal that she doesn’t cover in her scope, she gave advice aim how to help and a referral. She’s amazing!

If you really care about the safety, well-being and prosperity of a wild mammal then this is the place to contact. Lila always puts the animals first and does everything in her power to make sure the little ones get the care they need. If she can’t help you on the spot then she’ll find someone who can. Trust this place. They really are one of the only sincere organizations in the bay.

I am a proud donor and supporter of Yggdrasils work in our SF community. I follow their Facebook page and have seen evidence of the loving, tireless, thoughtful, expert, and humble energy devoted to each patient.I was even fortunate enough to be given a tour of their facility, where I witnessed the owner, Lila, has converted her own home into a beautiful, animal-centric habitat that mimics the natural environment as closely as possible. Animals have space, companionship, and safety. Just one of the animals I met was a tortoise who had survived 30 YEARS living in a small dark box, who is now loved and has freedom to stretch and roam.This summer, my son found an orphaned baby mouse in a house set with traps. Lila took time out of her busy day to text with us at length and provided specific instructions on how best to help this tiny creature. For anyone who has ever come across an animal in despair -- you know the helpless feeling of wanting to help, but being afraid to cause further harm. Lila gave us the confidence we needed to safely offer comfort, warmth, and shelter.Im grateful for the service Yggdrasil provides to our San Francisco community and hope those who read this review will be as gentle with Lila as she is with our animal friends. Outstanding Wildlife Rescue!Lila is a very informed, professional and experienced individual. She is very devoted to the welfare of wildlife; and really dedicates her time and energy to the prosperity of all the animals in her care.

We are so happy to have stumbled across this place tonight. We rescued a blind, emaciated opossum on our street and ended up bringing her to Yggdrasil. We spoke with Lila for a good 20 minutes when we dropped off the sweet baby. I am looking forward to visiting again and offering any help i can to support this small, but mighty operation.

Lila & YUWR do SO MUCH to help SO MANY! Lila is an incredibly devoted, conscientious, talented, caring, all-in wildlife rehabber who deserves 10 stars & so much support & appreciation! She works nonstop helping orphaned, injured, sick & at-risk wildlife & coaching the people who find them. Lila & YUWR go WAY above & beyond to help everybody they possibly can. I do not understand what the purpose of this organization is. The phone number is never answered, The address they posted was an empty house with no one there, I tried to contact them by text message after many failed calls and they refused to help when I found an injured bird bleeding, on the ground of Im terribly allergic . If you do not have a kind heart, please do not volunteer to rescue wildlife!

Lila is the sweetest, most caring animal rescuer. She is so knowledgeable of her profession and is always willing to educate you.
