Weve had trouble getting good internet into our unit in our old converted industrial building for many years due to older wiring & difficult access. Monkeybrains absolutely delivered. Anthony did a fantastic job with the installation, sorting out a huge mess patiently and carefully. We now have modern, symmetric high speed internet and couldnt be happier.

I cannot recommend Monkeybrains enough. Ive been a customer for over 6 years, between two apartments, and have always had great speeds and service.The speeds are excellent, consistently three or four times faster than their guaranteed minimum speeds. In the very few times Ive experienced issues, their support team has addressed it immediately.Their techs are great, too. The installations are extremely neat and tidy, and they definitely go above and beyond to satisfy custom installation requests. In the most recent installation, Efrain worked with us to figure out the best installation method that satisfied our HOAs requests as well as our own desires, and very neatly ran cables both inside and outside.On top of the great service and installation, their price are absurdly low. Id honestly pay twice as much for the same service and still be very happy.

This provider has my number. Internet always cuts off when Im in the middle of playing competitive video games. Worst thing is, internet works perfectly fine when on a losing streak. As soon as I start winning and enjoying the game, internet cuts off, and I end up losing. I wish I could give this service a 0 star rating if possible. Trash company.

My Broadband Jedi aka technician, Neil Sigua, was excellent. He was professional, friendly, and went above and beyond taking a quick look and plugging in my own wifi router, which I had not expected him to do or have time for. He knew what he was doing in our big building and also gave me a good 30 min heads-up before arriving.

Maybe if you guys weren’t spending your time reaching out to Instagram meme pages to advertise for you, you would spend time making sure your service is actually functional and I wouldn’t have to be typing this using a hot spot since my internet cuts out ATLEAST 30 times a day and right now is one of those times. And good luck trying to get in touch with their customer service. They’re nice at first, but once you report an issue it’s almost as if they throw their phone into the ocean. It’s a part-time job the time you spend trying to get them to call you back.

Quick setup. Plans sound good on paper. Internet works great until it doesn’t. No tech support available outside of business hours so expect to be stranded without internet. Unfortunately for me, it happened at 5pm on day before Christmas Eve. Update: after multiple households in our building started tickets, they did come in on Christmas Eve day and fixed it. So that’s an extra star for me.

Absolute joke of a company. Do not get service from them. Completely unreliable internet, will drop completely for 30-90 minutes every few days. When you call their technical support team, they will tell you theyve fixed some things on their end and the problem is solved. Only for it to happen again a few days later. They will gaslight you and try to convince you its a problem with your router. Then they will try to sell you a new router for $100. They will tell you its your problem to solve, even though their records show downtime on their end. To top it all off, when you finally cancel, the billing department will refuse to refund you for the remainder of the month you already paid for. Save your blood sweat and tears and hire a real provider.

Avoid using Monkey Brains. After 16 months trying to get the speeds in my apartment to a competitive rate, I finally have given up trying to get support from this company. I even reached out to the Owner, Rudy Rucker, with no luck. Ive followed all of their customer service tech support processes and all it does it stall the process. They never pick up and it takes them up to 3 days to respond to a ticket. This has been such a terrible experience. They have blamed everything except taking responsibility for their poor connectivity.

After being a customer for almost 10 years I am sadly switching back to an evil Corp service provider. While MB service has been pretty solid during the pandemic, From what I can read their latest acquisition is too much for them for them handle. 2 days without internet, no one will return calls. All I have received is a bot generated, placating email suggesting I reboot and unplug which isn’t working. It’s been a great run but these days my internet connection is just too important and MB has lost the trust of the community.

Ive had intermittent connection issues for two months (cant do a zoom call without connection cutting out every 10 seconds). Customer service team is impossible to connect with, I had to consistently track them down/ask for updates on the problem. When they said the issue was fixed, the connection issues still were present. This service is not worth the headache/frustration at all.

Neil Sigua was great. On time and installed in the correct room and replaced faulty parts. Internet has been better than Comcast, better than ATT and better than frontier. And pretty fast internet at nearly 100 mbs regularly.

Monkeybrains Internet has been extremely unreliable, dropping for hours upon hours several times throughout the last few weeks. As a teacher, and with my children doing remote learning, reliable Internet is a necessity. Our calls are not returned and we have no idea if more outages are to be expected as a norm, or if there have been some anomalies in the past couple weeks. We were happy with common.net, but when they got bought out by monkeybrains, our connectivity declined an incredible amount. We do not want to go to xfinity, but are thinking we may have no choice.

Had multiple connectivity issues over months and am now cancelling service after FOUR DAYS of no service and literally no way to get a hold of an actual person via phone, help tickets, social media otherwise. I had my internet installed by neil sigua, and so far its been great! Though the only problem Ive been having is that its been dipping below the guaranteed 100 Mbps download speed now and again... but overall its pretty good. Will update once I get my gaming rig up ^^

They are great so long as everything is working. However, as soon as there is a connectivity issue, they are nowhere to be found and have no fast or permanent solutions. Our internet went down every few minutes for the last week right as the kids were taking finals. Not cool!

I never leave reviews like this anywhere - not even when I get a terrible haircut or have a horrible restaurant experience. Monkeybrains is truly awful. I would advise anyone considering getting this service to spend just a little bit more and avoid the absolute headache of having internet that doesn’t work and a team that refuses to respond or assist. Over the four months we stayed with them after they acquired Common Networks, we experienced outages ranging from hours to an entire day and no amount of calls or tickets submitted resulted in a response. The times that we did receive a response, 3+ days after the initial issue, it would invariably say that their servers showed no problem and the issue was on our end, recommending that we buy Ethernet cables or other equipment. We established a physical connection with an Ethernet cable and ran speed tests that confirmed that our internet was completely out and the issue was not with anything on our end. When the outages were one time a week we continued with them thinking things would eventually be resolved, but after four months culminating in over a week of prolonged outages every single day with no response or support from their team, we moved on to another provider. On Monkeybrains’ website, Alameda still isn’t included in their outage map, even over four months post-acquisition, and I would postulate that it is because of the significant service issues there that they are unwilling to resolve that would reflect poorly on their service.

Getting fast internet, from a local company, with consumer-friendly practices, in an old building is difficult. Monkeybrains checks the boxes in these areas and Im happy with them despite the flaws and limitations on using technology that doesnt require property management involvement. Neil Sigua was nice and helpful. Knew what he was doing, worked quickly, and was friendly to be around. Highly recommended!

If you live in Alameda and ever need the internet, please just use Xfinity. I decided to give CommonNet a try and my internet service would go down maybe four days out of seven. They were bought out by Monkey Brains, which promised better internet service. Well, I suppose having the internet go down two-three days out of seven is better than four. Also, dont hold your breath for a call back as youll merely receive an apology email. Thankfully Ill be moving soon and will go back to Xfinity service.Hey Monkey Brains, its not like youre inventing the internet for the very first time; its been around for a while now, it should just work.

I am writing this as a completely dissatisfied customer in Alameda. Monkeybrains took over Common Networks ISP in Alameda, and a week later my internet started getting spotty. First it was an hour down, then several hours down, then entire DAYS went by without internet. By the time another ISP company service guy could come by, internet was down for five days. That is completely unacceptable. This is during the time that I, and Im sure many others in my position, was working from home. I emailed them, tweeted at them, called them, no response. There were no apologies, no explanation for why there were severe internet outages. F Monkeybrains.

Got our installation today. Installers showed up on time, well prepared, had an amplify wireless router, in case we needed one, and finished ahead of schedule... overall, an outstanding installation experience... especially in a sip conditions (masks, shoe covers and all)... Neil Sigua and his colleague (installers) were fantastic and super friendly...As far as the service itself... solid, fast, low latency... and at $35/mo! whats not to like?

MB took over for common networks in Alameda, I wanted to give them a chance but many people started complaining and then it hit me. 6 nights in a row of internet going out, not coming back on till the morning and after filling out a support ticket they would respond with a worthless remark like. Power cycle your device. Fer effen chrissake thats what they call support. And dont try and call, unless you want more pain. Maybe I should have hung by monkeybars because it would have done just as much good. They plain ole suck on the reliability but the customer support is pathetic. Sadly you can only give something one star.

Our internet has been disconnecting intermittently for OVER A MONTH, and they have yet to resolve it. Every time we email them to let them know they tell us things have been resolved but the next day we experience outages again. They refuse to tell us what is the problem is, and consistently do not provide us notice when they are working on our connection point that result in more connection outages. Theyre a mess and completely unprofessional. I would not recommend going with monkeybrains if you need a reliable internet connection.It is IMPOSSIBLE to reach them on the phone, and generally support has no idea how to resolve the issue. The most important characteristic that I look for in an internet service company is their ability to provide internet service and that it be reliable. It’s even more essential during the Pandemic as I rely on a reliable internet connection for work. During the past few months, there have been several times when the connection has been spotty. In the last few days, connection has been unreliable and in the past 24 hours, I have had absolutely no internet service. I contacted customer support and left a message, yesterday. This morning I received an email from monkeybrain stating that they can’t call me back. They asked that I email them if I’m still having internet issues. I emailed them in the morning and again in the afternoon, letting them know I still don’t have internet service. I’ve been completely without internet service for 24 hours.I have not received any support from monkeybrain. On a positive note, the price for service is reasonable. However, if the service in unreliable or you go without internet service for 24 hours at a time the price is not reasonable. Very disappointed!1/19/2021- Im updating my review. A tech came out and solved the problem with my internet connection. The internet connection is now working well with no issues. At this time, Im pleased with the service.

As a company we pay $500 per month for the service. this week the service was so poor than we could not use it for video call.Today it is completely out and no one respond to our phone call.The internet connection is very important for a tech start up and we cant rely on Monkey Brain. Super fast, and much cheaper than other high speed providers in SF (at least in my building). Neil Sigua came to install the modem for us and to connect the modem to the building antenna. At first the speed was around 100 Mbps, but Neil was able to bring that up to over 600 Mbps after tweaking some electronics in the building! Would recommend 👍

I am so happy that I chose Monkeybrains as my internet provider. Vlad showed up on time. quickly assessed what needed to be done and did just got it done, no muss, no fuss. The technician was able to come earlier than scheduled. Tech (Neil Sigua) was very respectful of distance (install during COVID-19), completed the install very quickly, and was just a pleasant guy to deal with. No complaints at all! There is absolutely no reason not to get Monkey Brains as soon as you possibly can. It may not seem believable, but heres the deal, its WAY faster than ATT/Comcast, its WAY more reliable and the customer service is WAY WAY WAY better. The customer service representative Ive dealt with is named Becky. During the COVID-19 lock-down, our comcast connection kept dropping out and I was not able to attend important conference calls. I contacted Monkeybrains and a day later, Anthony showed up to make the install. Our building was already connected to their network so the install was pretty quick. since then (around 3 weeks ago) we have had 1 short interruption which was quickly fixed after contacting the help desk. The speed is significantly higher than comcast reaching up to 100mbps download and 200mbps(!) upload.They are a smaller ISP and that comes with a more personal service. at the time, I had a 6 hour waiting time to talk to anyone at comcast. And when I finally get in touch with them, they were no help at all.. monkeybrains responded to my email within 20 minutes when there was an issue (fixed in 25min).I highly recommend MonkeyBrains and will be cancelling with comcast!

Been using them for the last 5 years. Had one outage for an hour in that whole time. I get a monthly email with my bill and Ive never had to talk to anyone. Ive never had to try restarting my router and cable modem. Speeds are usually 100 Mbps down and up with 2-4 ms latency. Its awesome.

I want fast, reliable Internet service. I want to know that I can find a human to speak with— who is will be responsible for addressing my concern, not wasting my time before handing the matter off to another department—when I contact my ISP. I want to work with technicians who care about their work, and about the service they provide to their customers. I want the funds I spend on my services to be reinvested into my community, not into the accounts of some far off share holder. I don’t want my internet usage to be collected and sold, I don’t want my ISP deciding which of my services should have priority, or governing the speed at which I can send files or images to colleagues and loves ones. I don’t want my ISP and my landlord conspiring to lock me into overpriced, underperforming service. To put it simply, I want and couldn’t be happier with Monkey Brains.From Jennifer who helped navigate the process of getting Monkey Brains access to provide service in my building, to Devin who installed my service and stuck around to make sure I was getting the speeds they promised (in fact, I consistently receive and send at more than 150/mbps over the promised 200/mbps) everyone at Monkey Brains has been responsive and consistent. Ive had Monkeybrains since the end of 2016. It started out great... quick friendly customer service and good internet. Over the last year though the connection has been dropping more often and sometimes for hours during an outage. The most frustrating part is the lack of any customer support when you need them. The tech line never answers calls, Ive always had to leave a message or email. When they do respond its hours after things are working again or the next day. I guess you get what you pay for, hopefully they will put some money into their customer support & tech support to keep people from canceling.

Im a recent first-time customer with Monkeybrains, and overall I am very pleased with my internet service. Devin Osband was my ISP technician and he was very professional and friendly, and worked quickly. He called ahead to give me a more accurate time of his arrival (which was still within the originally quoted timeframe of 1-2pm, which was much appreciated). He also took the time to look around my place to make sure that my router was set up in the optimal spot; I thought it would have to be positioned in my kitchen, but he found a second port in my living room that serves as a much better location for my router.Although I found the initiation fee of $100 a bit steep, I think it is worth it--plus, that includes your first month of service. I like the ability to pay month-to-month, to not have to deal with or rent a modem, and I like the opportunity to support a local business as opposed to one of the giant ISPs. Each time Ive called Monkeybrains, Ive been impressed with their responsiveness and their customer support. Not to mention, the internet speed and reliability so far are performing as advertised. If it rains, we lose service. I have been a customer of Monkeybrains since the beginning and have trued to stick it out. Even got our building to spend $2500 on a gigabit antenna (out of our own pocket) for the promise of 700mbps speeds that never came. Sure, its $30 per month but what good does that matter if they are down any time it rains and have no tech support over the weekend or after hours. I really want to like Monkeybrains...

I recently leased a room at the ActivSpace building in the Mission and had 3 internet options to choose from. Monkeybrains, Sonic, and ATT. I compared all 3 and Monkeybrains was the cheapest and fastest option of the 3. (by a long shot!) So far I am extremely pleased with the service. It is advertised as being 200mbps and when I run a speed test I get around 350mbps! I have never had an ISP over deliver on speed before, normally I expect to get about 90% of the advertised speed, 175% is nuts! My latency is also super low, and tests between 5-7ms. This is easily the fastest connection I have ever had. I highly recommend this ISP!

I cant really tell a difference in my speeds but that my be b/c of my desktop. Nonetheless the service alone deserves a 4 stars. I expected them at 1pm but they didnt show. Made a phone call, talked to the tech guy, hung up and literally like 60 seconds later they were at my front door. I knew these guys were different when I asked about paying the $400 flat rate for the year and they were like ah pay it whenever. Nice. Just b/c of that Im paying instantly. Thanks

These guys are great. Response time to set up my install appointment was super fast, but be prepared to schedule 2-3 weeks out (I was, since I was still with comcast). Costas came out to do the install and was super accommodating with getting the cable routed just right as to not upset the landlord. So far the speed is as expected and will likely go higher, Im told. If anything changes with my excellent experience thus far, Ill update this post.

Monkeybrains...the ISP that dreams are made of!I represent a property group with numerous new builds in San Francisco and wanted to provide our properties with the best fiber optic speeds and service available. Spoke with a few of the operators in the city and for one reason or another didn’t think any of them hit the mark. Until I found Monkeybrains. I have had better customer service from Comcast than I have from Monkeybrains... When I signed up a year ago I had great customer service and speed, but I have no idea what has happened in the past year.I recently had an outage and left a message and submitted a ticket to technical support. They didnt pick up or return messages to their Tech Support extension-- only when I hit the extension for New Customer did someone pick up and tell me technical support was not busy and would get me on the line with someone. It seems like Monkeybrains only cares about getting new customers, not helping existing ones.There are too many bad experiences to list but to summarize and give a taste of how unprofessional and condescending everyone was:-Nelson was apparently the only supervisor on duty who was supposed to call me back within an hour after his lunch. He did not, and when I finally got a hold of him at the end of the day, he was rude and constantly interrupted me. I asked to speak to his supervisor, and he said he reported directly to the owners of the company, and gave me an email to reach them. I later found out, he does not report directly to the owners and the email he gave me did not go to them.-Carlos was my over the phone tech support, and was the most condescending person I spoke with during this time. He was very rude, cut me off constantly, and implied I did not understand basic concepts, technical and otherwise.-Zach was the at home tech support who tracked disgusting San Francisco dirt into my apartment. He redid the troubleshooting I already did over the phone and said there was no problem with the internet and was in a hurry to leave. When I urged him to try harder because it was not only my laptop but my router and all other devices that were not working, he told me he was not really a tech guy.- Anders (Nelsons actual supervisor) kept misgendering and calling me by the wrong name even when I corrected him, and basically stonewalled my complaint. He told me he brought this complaint to his supervisors (the owners) and that they were unwilling to speak with me.I want to believe this kind of condescending behavior is not culturally acceptable at Monkeybrains but my experiences tell a different story. What is the point of doing business with a local company if they are just as unhelpful and uncaring as the bigger companies?

Ive been using Monkeybrains for about 3 years now. I recently moved and would never have moved to this building if they did not have this internet service! The customer service is phenomenal. Ive experienced a problem only once and they came out very quick to fix it. The speeds are great and the installation is super quick. I love that it is non-contracted. I have commitment issues...especially when it comes to internet providers.Thank you Monkeybrains for being fast, reliable, trustworthy internet!

Outages are extremely regular for our Business Class MonkeyBrains service. Internet goes down during the business day for at least 1-2 hours weekly. Every time they call they say they will work on it then it happens again days later. Uptime is too important to use MonkeyBrains!!
