After starting my own small business shortly after COVID-19, I was immediately connected with a knowledgeable mentor that helped me with all aspects of growing a small business: marketing, social media. She connected me with other SCORE mentors with areas of expertise I needed. She attended workshops and encouraged me to attend SCORE workshops also, which were very helpful. I am so grateful for SCORE!
I am learning and receiving valuable guidance from mentor, Susan Lundy, regarding issues of building my new small business. She is a wealth of information and very supportive. Thank you Susan!
In 1985, having been in my business for seven years, I was ready to hire employees and grow. After attending a SBA workshop in San Francisco, I signed up for a SCORE mentor who I credit with pretty much smoothing the way for me to achieve my goals. His only request was that when I had time, Id pay it forward and volunteer to mentor at SCORE. That time came with my first mentoring assignment mid-February, 2020. (Yes, I know...better late than never, right?) I have about 30 business owners relying (in various amounts) on me for advice, and my co-mentors and other volunteers (gears to run the Chapter need oiling, too) have brought me friendship and joy in these COVID times. Thank you, San Francisco chapter. Im enjoying this A LOT. Dr. Susan Ruth Lundy, SCORE volunteeer.
SCOREs assistance to small business owners and would-be owners is an invaluable, usually free, resource which can be a lifesaver for the entrepreneur. The staff is knowledgeable, friendly and extremely resourceful. SCORE and the Small Business Administration is government-subsidized and more than pays for itself with the increased productivity it fosters. Run, dont walk!
