Nice place to rent kayaks right in the city, where you can get a good view of the city skyline, the Bay Bridge, and the baseball stadium. The owners (husband and wife?) are really friendly, and the entire operation had a mom-and-pop feel to it.TIPS:Paddling around splashes water so you will get a tiny bit wet, so bring appropriate clothes (or maybe a change of clothes for after). I left my sandals on the dock and went barefoot. You can buy water and snacks at the checkin desk (and dont forget sunscreen), and rent a dry-bag for your belongings. I recommend two hours, since getting ready, onto the kayak, and leaving the dock area all eat some time which would make a single hour quite rushed. We were able to paddle to the bay bridge, back to the dock, to the baseball stadium to watch some of the game, and back all in two hours. If youre prone to seasickness, take some dromamine or ginger candies before you go!OVERALL:Go on a nice sunny day when a baseball game is being played.
Super friendly staff, easy location to get to and find parking, and fair pricing. Highly recommend the Marina route for beginners. If youre looking for a longer more advanced excursion, start with the Bay Bridge route, then head to the Marina second. The boats and cargo ships create a fairly large wake that will tire you out quickly on the Bay Bridge route.
Theyve got a nice collection of different equipment like double/single kayaks, SUP, some weird water cycle too. Minimum 1 hour and post that they charge you in half an hour increments depending on how long you stay in the water. Cost me about 60 USD for three hours. Instructors are pretty chill and help you if needed. If its your first time go towards the bay bridge youll see sea lions and dolphins in the water if youre lucky!
We did the McCovey Cove Kayak Tour while the Giants were playing the Dodgers!!! It was super fun and the check-in process was very organized and they were all super friendly!!! City Kayak is right next to Oracle Park and the water is very calm. It was a great experience!!!
The crew there is phenomenal. My family had a great time.
Had a great time kayaking around the San Francisco Giants stadium and McCovey cove. City Kayak rentals launch from the marina just north of the ballpark and you can kayak to the park or up under the Bay Bridge. Friendly helpful staff, good social distancing protocols in place, decent price. I would recommend City Kayak for a fun time on the water.
We rented a 2 person kayak for an hour and it was a really easy process. We had a lot of fun. The launch location is great for a couple of good kayaking routes. I was a little surprised that a 2 person kayak is twice the price of a 1 person kayak, but other than that it was a great experience.
It was a great experience. The staff was very personable and helpful in getting us in the water.
Took the two introductory kayak classes with CityKayak this weekend, and I highly recommend them. Everything was very well organised, instructors very helpful, clear and patient, the location is very practical if you live in San Francisco, and they were very helpful with reservations after I messed up. Well definitely be back!
Mean representative, wont even care to entertain thru the process.
Great people and a great experience! Not expensive either, will definitely return in the future.
This was our first trip to San Francisco and we had a blast during all of it! The staff and owner at city kayak are very knowledgeable, helpful and very hospitable. They give you the best routes to kayak on and we were not disappointed! Next time we are in San Francisco, we will be giving Ted and his staff a visit! Thank you! I must also add that any Giants fan will want to rent a kayak from him as he is literally right behind the ballpark.
They don’t accommodate people well !!
Probably one of the worst kayaking experiences so far!
Very easy to book and very friendly staff
The experience was really Amazinggggg. Went there for Kayaking on a weekend. Staff was really good and helpful except it seemed like a lecture while a person was instructing and took so much time while explaining things. So get there early if you’ve planned something after. You can get really amazing view if you know Kayaking well and ready to go little far in the ocean. You have to be careful from boats moving around. Bridge view is absolutely worth the efforts of Kayaking. If you are really new to Kayaking, I would recommend to not go out of the defined easy task boundary because it’ll be really difficult to come back against reverse waves.
Cant wait to do it again
The most awesome staff and experience!!!
Really nice people. Took time to explain helpful techniques and suggestions. They were also flexible with the time, and didnt nickel and dime us for every minute over. They just wanted us to enjoy our day, which we did, very much.
People were great and super nice! Kayaking next to the city is awesome and being in McCovey cove listening to the game was a dream come true! Great day.
Another great way to see the Bay bridge is by kayaking on a beautiful, sunny day. Found this activity via an awesome Groupon deal. I dont have much upper body strength so my ex did most of the rowing, but it was a great experience. Highly recommended for a cool date and a different experience of SF.
Awesome experience. Be aware of the weather. Windy days can ruin your experience
Fantastic staff who can help with beginners and advanced alike. Kindly and patiently allowed me to change my reservation twice due to unavoidable conflicts. Definitely worth it, particularly for the McCovey CoveExperience.
My sister bought me the McCovey Cove experience package for my birthday & it was totally worth it! Everything went smoothly. Great people & great service. Cant wait for my next experience!!
Ive been kayaking with City Kayak for three years. Ted, the owner of City Kayak, knows the (sometimes temperamental) environment of San Francisco Bay and knows what his customers can and cant handle. Under his guidance I started with short trips to the cove, then longer trips to Fishermans Wharf, and finally trips across the Bay to Treasure Island.A great way to explore San Franciscos waterfront and keep fit.
Awesome experience going both to Bay Bridge (seeing a seal) and then to the house boats. On the way there we went by AT&T park which had a rugby event amd was cheering and celebrating all the time! Amesome experience!! Thanks a lot!
Ted and staff are great! Will select the right kayak for your expertise.
Had a great time Kayaking McCovey Cove last weekend via City Kayak. The staff were very friendly and helpful. -1 star because the bathrooms available (public on the pier) were absolutely disgusting and parking situation on game days is not particularly clear.
Helpful staff. Lots of fun. Ill do it again sometime.
Great service. Great people. Great fun. Weather was perfect. They were extremely accommodating. Highly recommended.
I had a great time, and so will you -- just dont get between that container ship and the Bay Bridge pylon! Seriously, its wonderfully calming paddling McCovey cove, whether or not you catch the ball that guy on steroids just hit out of the park.
Chilled, friendly staff. Gave great ideas for routes, and was lucky with great weather in the bay.
Ted helped us rent 7 kayaks for a weekend trip to Tomales Bay. It was a great price, and the yaks are top-notch.
Great place for kayaks and service.
If you want to go kayaking make sure you arrive before 3pm - that is the last departure time. 5pm is the latest time kayakers can return from the water
Great experience and a real can do attitude! They have the experience and equipment to help you make whatever adventure youre planning a success
We rented kayaks a couple of times at this place. Staff is very friendly and can give you advices where to go.
Great People and service. Go to suppliers for aquatic adventures starting from the Bay Area.
Great ownership and quality products.
Great way to see the bay from another perspective!
Nice experience on the bay
