I have really learned so much taking these classes online through Zoom. I never would’ve had the opportunity to take these classes if they weren’t available online. I’ve always wanted to learn Spanish but never found the time with work and the kids. With these online classes, I’ve met people from all over who share different experiences in class. We spend the first part of class talking in Spanish which helps me with my understanding of the spoken language. We spend the second part going over grammar and all the different tenses using our books as references. Just in this short seven weeks my Spanish has improved significantly. My teacher, Moni, is amazing!!! She made me feel comfortable and I quickly got over my insecurities of speaking in font of the other students who I now consider my peers and friends. Thank you so much on helping me through my Spanish leaning journey!

A great way to learn Spanish and improve your skills. Multidisciplinary instruction including speaking, listening, reading and writing. Classes include both conversation and grammar lessons. You will see noticeable improvement if you take clases at the Spanish Institute!

We love The Spanish Institute and it has been a phenomenal learning experience. Moni has been our instructor online for 6 months and I cannot believe how fast we have been learning Spanish! I was worried online/zoom was not the right choice, but it is actually the better choice. Learning Spanish with the chat as well as video conversation has been extremely effective. MONI is absolutely a great teacher and a great friend!! I look forward to taking more classes. Taking with a friend or a spouse makes it even more enjoyable.

When I first spoke to Monica on the phone, I sensed low energy in her tone of voice and an unpleasant attitude. Initially, I assumed that she was just having a bad day, and didnt think too much of it as I dont know what shes like in person. However, after I called her back the second time, there were 2 things that really bothered me. First, she sounded very annoyed after that I had told her that I registered for the class on Tuesday instead of Monday. I was surprised to hear the annoyance in her tone because I didnt think that was a big deal. After looking at my schedule, I simply preferred Tuesday more. She claimed that Tuesday classes are full, but their website states that its available. Furthermore, after I told her that I am having a change of mind and wanted to wait for the onsite session to reassume, she hung up on me without properly saying goodbye. This exchange between us left me with a very negative feeling towards this institute. I am incredibly annoyed with her unprofessionalism as I was being polite with her throughout our conversation.

My teacher is very patient and always catches even small mistakes (pronunciations, wrong word, wrong gender etc.) and then politely corrects you. Never overly critical though. She teaches Spanish from a worldwide prospective and does not focus on just Mexican Spanish. This is important to me as I will be traveling to South and Central America and possible Spain and I need to know/understand these nuances. She avoids “Spanglish” which is important because that is something I have been trying to eliminate from the get go. When I get to my various destinations people will be speaking “pure” Spanish and will not understand “Spanglish”. The fact that this teacher eliminates Spanglish while living this close to the U.S./Mexico border is very impressive. The teacher has me write down various phrases that I want to learn which is great for me and gives a personal touch.I highly recommended the Spanish Institute.

After a week of Spanish Immersion at The Spanish Institute, I was able to interview for a job which required proficiency in Spanish and I got the job! I came into the week without knowing much Spanish but needing to learn for work. I thought it was a long shot that I would be able to speak well after a week, but the instructors made it a reality! The best part was that I had a wonderful time while learning. The instructors are dynamic, skilled, attuned and incredibly supportive. Their commitment to their students is well evident. My friends were shocked and impressed by how much I had improved in just a week. If you want a success story with regard to learning Spanish, go to the Spanish Institute. You can absolutely learn Spanish without leaving the country.AMAZING CLASSES!!!!

I have just completed my second year at the Spanish Institute with Monica as my instructor. I began at the Institute unable to complete a full sentence in Spanish. Now I can communicate with people using 5 different tenses and have a substantial vocabulary. I have traveled 3 times to Costa Rica and Mexico and can speak with the native people about many different subjects. I speak to people in restaurants, stores, any place I see Latino people. If you want to learn Spanish and have the desire to do so, I encourage you to enroll with the Institute. The classes are very small and if you want you can have private sessions also. You can customize how you want to do it, Monica is very accommodating. Thank you!!!

My two-week intensive at The Spanish Institute went above and beyond my expectations. I feel I could write this review in Spanish now, but I want future students to read it! The instruction was individualized, flexible, and varied.Monica the professor used the hours to the max, allowed for creativity and individual purposes and needs, and encouraged us with much grace and patience. I would return for more in a heartbeat. Mil gracias!!!

The Spanish institute has been great for me. My Spanish was so bad before I began taking classes it was embarrassing. Thanks to Monica my conversational spanish has improved dramatically. She has helped me with my grammar and sentence structure immensely. I am very pleased with the product, teaching and location. The Spanish institute is a quality school for anyone wanting to learn Spanish.

I enrolled in a two week total immersion course at the Spanish Institute. The original Spanish Immersion for Adults in San Diego.I had used the pimsleur Spanish program for approximately one year. The two week course I had with Lourdes taught me more than the one year of pimsleur. Pimsleur was great for vocabulary but would make changes with conjugation without teaching the reason. She helped teach me the reason for changes in Spanish words and helped me learn the rules necessary to continue to successfully learn Spanish. She helped customize a program for me based on my employment and the use of Spanish related to my occupation. I highly recommend Lourdes and The Spanish Institute.Thank you Lourdes and The Spanish Institute

Very professional and accommodating to be able to get all my courses completed even though I had a shorter period of time than 8 weeks to complete them. Good job Nydia!

I like the class because it is at a time that fits my schedule and it provides the opportunity to refresh my Spanish and learn in a friendly environment with 3 other students.
