First time home buyer here! Willem did an AWESOME job of helping me find my very first place to buy and I HIGHLY RECOMMEND him to others who are looking to buy. I bought a 2 bed/2 bath condo in Mission Valley in July 2018.We started off the process with a meeting on a Saturday morning to discuss what I was looking for and my price range. He did a great job of explaining what to expect when searching for and buying a condo and while I had an idea of where I wanted to buy, he also suggested a few areas I should look at to buy. After our first meeting, I had a good feeling about working with him. A couple things that I really liked about his background and that made him stand out (aside from his own experience) is that both his dad and grandma have been in the realtor business for years and Willem was born and raised in San Diego. I felt confident that he knew San Diego well and the ins and outs of buying a home.I know Willem has many other clients, but he always made me feel like I was his only client. I was always able to reach him via email, text message or phone and he was very quick to get back to me. I was able to go see condos at times that were convenient for me (weekends, weeknights after work (sometimes as late as 7:30pm), and over my lunch breaks during the week). He would never rush me through a showing and would let me take as much time as I wanted to look around. Sometimes we would go see a place more than once because I couldn’t make up my mind about whether or not I wanted to make an offer and he was more than happy to see it a second time with me. There were a few times he suggested we see places that I thought I would not like at all, but I was wrong and ended up really liking what I saw. I know sometimes realtors are just looking to make a sale, but I never felt that way with Willem. I felt that he had my best interests in mind and wanted me to find a place that would be a perfect fit for me, even if it took more time to find.When I finally made an offer on a condo, he suggested that I make an offer lower than asking price, which made me a little nervous since I really liked the place, but the seller ultimately ended up accepting my offer. Willem was also able to negotiate extra credits to the closing costs for me, which resulted in more savings.Once escrow closed, Willem and his assistant were available to help me with getting my place move in ready (i.e. letting in painters, cleaners, handyman, etc. while I was at work), which is definitely going above and beyond his job responsibilities.Willem is also helping my parents and my sister and her husband find a place to buy in San Diego.Thank you, Willem for doing such a great job and helping me find my very first condo!
